Wish I had access to this gem on a daily basis. Great lunch with friends at this location while vacationing in NOLA. It was such a great vibe and I absolutely love the concept. Food and service were both great!

If I hadn’t taken my salad to go, I would have gone into the kitchen to hug the chef. This quite possibly may have been the best salad I have ever had. It was the summer salad special and I added prosciutto.

Enjoyed the cheese plate where you have the option of either 3 cheese or 2 cheese one meat. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. I ordered a glass of house wine with the cheese board and the man who took my order said he would serve me whatever wine best complimented the plate. The plates change daily depending on the season and availability. The restaurant is super cute and clean inside and a great place to unwind.

We love St James and especially the downtown location. Everything on the menu is delicious. The food is always fresh and tasty. The service is always fast and friendly.

We enjoyed a two delicious sandwiches for lunch. Later, one of the kind ladies in the shop took the time to help us to pick out several cheeses. She took the time to explain the differences between each cheese and had us taste each one so that we could pick out just the right cheeses for us. We will definitely stop in again on our next trip to New Orleans.

If you were ever going to cry tears of joy over food, then this is one of those places. Dairy is the main thing here. Cheese is the star on each plate. I’m Dutch and grew up with European quality cheeses, so to find a place like this, feels like I’ve died and gone to heaven. You can come here for a sit-down bite to eat, or grab your food to go, or just buy your cheese and take it home, which would be my weekly ritual if I lived here. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely place for a lite lunch and wine. The butter sampler was oddly wonderful and the cheese and meat board was very satisfying. Would love to return. Based on what I saw, the heavier food looked great as well.

Consistency is the key to longevity in New Orleans. St. James never disappoints and they’ve got a few of the best salads in the city. Their sandwiches are killer. And... CHEESE! Cheese is life.

Reallly clean and nice. The staff is helpful and polite. Prices for food are surprisingly cheap, the beverages are expensive. The salads are big and tasteful. Sandwiches a bit tasteless. Mac n cheese is good, not great. A bit cold inside. But overall a positive experience.

The perfect place for a midday snack of cheese.We asked the staff to surprise us and gave some of our likes and dislikes and they came through with a delightful mix of strong and creamy cheeses plus an assortment of wonderful accessories for the cheese like the AMAZING house-made cherry spread/jam, candied walnuts, figs and other little lovely things.Happy hour prices on the wines and bubbly really helped as well.If the weather is good I recommend sitting on the porch and watching the day go by.

This is definitely a unique place! This little restaurant has excellent and tasty selection of food. I tried their Hooks Cheddar sandwich, which comes with smoked turkey, fresh basil, tomato and avocado and mayo on fresh ciabatta and house salad. This sandwich was so delicious and fresh. I recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood.

Interesting cheese and sandwich shop off the beaten path a bit in New Orleans. Everything is cheese centric and they have a wide variety of cheeses.I would consider this more of a lunch restaurant than a dinner place but is good for a quick casual meal whenever you are in the mood.

This place is just amazing, we had a great lunch! The atmosphere is chill and I cannot recommend the Cheesemongers Mac and Cheese with bacon enough - its soooooo good!

I like it better than the one on Prytania that I was used to go to. Nice and big and you can get a cocktail there.

What an amazing little place! We stay right around the corner and finally tried this place after multiple walk bys. It can get busy for lunch, but WOW on the quality of food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood.

Sandwiches were really good. The Gruyere is really creamy and tasty with prosciutto.

We got the $10 cheese board. It was so good. Every cheese was a winner, the figs were delicious, and so were the candied pecans. Also, the jam was amazing and the wine was crisp and refreshing. Four people, so we ended up getting a second cheese plate of all different cheeses and different bread. It was awesome. Fun atmosphere too, you should go here. I will be back.

This place was full of cheese, who doesn’t like cheese? I loved the Manchego arugula salad as I needed this after all the greasy food we’ve been having all week. I ordered the gruyere sandwich with chips and it was delicious! 👌🏻

Excellent location, cheese plate compliments every taste it was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was fabulous!

Had to their version of the muffaletta sandwich, it was meh. I prefer the original much better, the cold cuts just taste better in a normal cold sandwich. The woman was also pretty rude/ condescending when my husband and I inquired about tasting any of the cheeses, as if we were intending to eat all their cheese or something. The place is just too occupied with being pretentious than selling their cheese

Super good avocado toast. Even the salad was so good in the small amount of shaved cheese they used. Orange juice was freshly squeezed. Attention was surprisingly paid to the details in the food for this fast casual place. Clean and modern decoration with nice street view.

My favorite spot to grab lunch when Im at work. Its always delicious and fresh. They are also a great place to grab items for your charcuterie board, or sit outside and enjoy a selection with a glass of wine. Go here, you wont be disappointed!

Easily the best non sea food sandwich in the city...

Had the blueberry salad and it was fantastic. The cheese was sharp but creamy, and it had a lot of great textures scattered throughout.

So glad we stumbled among this place. Happy Hour cheese plate and wine was perfect. Cheeses were to die for!

I took my family here for lunch one day, and my kids shared a cheese board, while my husband and I had a grilled cheese sandwich and salad. Between the four of us, we each rated our meals at three stars; very middle of the road, and unfortunately, nothing remarkable.

Fair prices, quick service, terrific food. The mac n cheese is perfect.

The food was absolutely incredible, however, the service was awful. Both girls working there were very rude, I asked for water with my meal and was never served any or told how to get it myself. When I asked the charcuterie girl for prices, she was annoyed and dismissive. I also thought the prices for the food quantity was high.

Excellent staff. The meat and cheese plate and the wine were excellent. The music was a little loud but not so loud that it detracted from the experience. We will be back.Update --- we went back and the music was not as loud. The wine list improved, which was no small accomplishment. This is a wonderful place for a relaxing meal.

We stopped here after going to the WWII museum. It was a short walk. The menu has a lot of good options for both filling and lighter meals mostly consisting of sandwiches and cheese platters. The atmosphere was good. The food was tasty and there is a large selection of cheeses. Also, we had lunch there on a weekend and the line was short and moved quickly. Overall a very good experience!

A bustling, casual spot with a wonderful menu! My husband and I stopped before going to the WW2 Museum and shared a Croque Monster( no egg) and side salad. The sandwich was fantastic, so rich and cheesy. It was hard to choose because every item on the menu looked like it would be delicious. Definitely recommend!

Best Cheese in the City. Also happens to have some of the best sandwiches and salads too. They basically took some pretty classic ideas where the cheese is often an afterthought and instead made it the star of the show. It makes everything seem familiar and yet full of flavor explosions. Good wine too.

I stopped in here for a quick lunch before catching a ride to the airport. It did not disappoint. I ordered the Ploughmans Lunch, because I was worried about the portion size. However, this one meal could have easily been shared by two people. The quality and portion size, makes for a great value for the money. I will look forward to returning here!

GREAT food in a very pleasant setting, with friendly service. Their sandwiches are fantastic, as pretty much everyone agrees, but what is under appreciated are the side salads that come with them. Tossed with very tasty grated cheeses and yummy vinaigrettes, I truly enjoy them, even though I am not a salad or veggies person. If I had this place nearby where I live, I’d eat more healthy! :-) In any case, a must-stop on my future trips down to NOLA.

Ordered the hook. Called to let them know my sandwich had ham instead of turkey. The person on the phone said: we just got turkey that looks like ham. I knew he was lying because the ham smelled like ham and was slimy like ham. I started looking through the supposedly “turkey” that looks like ham and found a hair on one of the cheese slice. Tossed the whole thing in the garbage.

So many reasons to come here. If you are a cheese amature to enthusiast there are by the pound selections to make your mouth water. The staff is very knowledgeable as well to help you decide on something new. The food served from the restaurant is fantastic as well. The use of the cheese on sandwiches salads and noodle dishes are a reason to visit on its own.

Delicious!! If you love cheese, you should check this place out. Be sure to look into their happy hour specials on wine and cheese boards. I had their cold turkey sandwich (which was huge), as well as their macaroni and cheese (which was unique and so yummy). If you go for lunch, be sure to budget a little extra time, as it was pretty busy when we went and you stand in line to order at the register (but they also have a separate to-go checkout).

One of a kind restaurant in the warehouse district. If you love cheese like I do then I definitely recommend this place. Staff is friendly and informative.

A wonderful experience..

When you walk in, it is the most glorious smell of CHEESE! It is a fun experience for the price. The workers were knowledgeable about cheese, and seemed to have fun doing their job. Stopped in for a 3 cheese plate with a wine pairing, and it was the perfect stop before our dinner plans.

Before the COVIDpacalypse, I hadnt heard of this place. Once it started, they made an effort to sell their stock before it spoiled. They have great cheese and great service. The cheese-related products they sell are varied and really nice. They were courteous and helpful. I hope their business survives, because I would love to return once this is all over.

The artful three item cheese board with a cup of soup was a generous lunch. My friends salad was large, fresh and delicious. The side of pickled veggies was a treat - the lightly pickled pineapple was dessert! Love this place. I hope theyll expand to Baton Rouge and Lafayette eventually.

Amazing mac and cheese! We only came in here after being disappointed with another restaurant and leaving hungry!Their large mac and cheese was Amazing and worth their very affordable price!!! And their cheesecake was one of the best Ive had, and I love dessert!If we come back to new Orleans in the future, well come back here! Definitely check this place out!

A bit pricey but its close to work and has some really good, fresh sandwiches. Theres also, unsurprisingly, a good selection of cheeses and cheese board accessories. The portions are fairly generous so unless youre starving youre likely to leave with a little bit of food leftover.

Ive never been impressed by sandwiches, and use them mainly to fill my stomach... However the sandwich I had here was absolutely delicious.Nice crispy meat and refreshing vegetables topped a tasty sandwich. Very happy with meal

Try the bread pudding. It has goat cheese and its sooo good. I dont even usually like goat cheese, but it blended well with the sweetness of the bread. Their salads are also really good, with an interesting blend of sweet (berries, fig spreads, etc) and various cheeses.

This place was super good. The grilled cheese was great. The mozzerella sandwich was tasty. The cheese they have is also for sale in a cooler beside the counter which is awesome. You can also buy beer there as well as local food stuffs and goods.

Had the monstro sandwich after a hard decision on what to order. Sadly we were already a little full but needed to stop by. It’s been a couple of days and I’m still thinking about this sandwich. Simple ingredients that all are done perfectly. Can’t wait to come back and try more! Love the big portions

Went there because it was across the street from our hotel. I have been looking out of my window waiting for the Open sign to flip! This restaurant is simply perfect. We had the muffuleta and salad. The dish was exceptionally delicious. The place is super clean and the staff is very very friendly. Go just go!

If you love cheese, you will love this place. Menu offers a variety of sandwiches and salads featuring specialty cheeses. Portions are generous and everything tastes incredibly fresh. Casual, cool vibe inside. There may be a wait if you visit during lunch or dinner rush times but its definitely worth it.

Great place for lunch! I had the Hooks Cheddar sandwich and my husband had the Mozzarella sandwich. Both were fantastic. Very fresh tasting. We also got a charcuterie board during Happy Hour, what a great deal! Expect higher prices for sandwiches, but keep in mind you are paying for high quality ingredients. Sandwiches are also huge!
