Great local spot for all your fancy provisions. If youre planning a date night (or having people over) I highly recommend reaching out and getting one of their charcuterie boards. Each time has been a delight with the staff picking an excellent assortment of cheeses and meats. Its also quite generous portions and Ive had the 10 piece option be more than 2 people can finish. I do wish they included labels for what each cheese is so you can buy it again.

Such a good sandwich! I had the Mozarella, my mom had grilled cheese and my sister had the Il Mostro. They were all so good. Honestly it’s the best food we’d had in Louisiana despite maybe not being the typical Louisiana food tourists look for. Highly recommend! Fresh, quality ingredients.

Super cute cheese and sandwich store. We ordered the roast beef, hook cheddar, and arugula salad. They were amazing! Plus you need to try the miti blue cheese. Its a blue cheese made from goat cheese, and it is soft, creamy, and amazing!

What a terrific find! Our family of four visited the uptown location today. Our daughter got the ham and brie sandwich, her father got the roast beef and blue, my wife for the Mac and cheese, and I got the Il Mostro. We also splurged on a 3 item charcuterie and an olive plate. MAGNIFICENT! The portions are large, so we were able to enjoy this treat at lunch and dinner. This will be a must-visit when in New Orleans in future.

This is one of the most relaxing places in New Orleans. Grab a salad and a cheese and meat plate and some of the wonderful wine (if you want more check out the wine store next door). You should go here as often as you want good food.

Sit outside, and experience the charming atmosphere that is St. James Cheese Co. After, definitely check out Creole Creamery or the frozen yogurt place across the street!

I love bringing people to this restaurant. The menu is fantastic, the staff are very knowledgeable, and the place is very clean. It gets pretty packed but very much worth it. I strongly suggest ordering the cheese platter and letting the staff pick the cheeses. I am always surprised and pleased with their choices. Also, their sandwiches are delicious!

We ordered a 7 item charcuterie plate. I like that it included things like fruit, olives, and jams but they did not count as one of my 7 items. Felt like a little bonus or extra.

I have been to other cheese shops and this one has the best selection I have found. I am sure there are places that have much bigger selections, like in some shops in France or New York. In New Orleans and the areas around St. James Cheese Co. is definitely the best. The employees are always so knowledgeable and helpful. It is nice to walk in with a few details of what I want but be able to have someone give something that works so well. This shop used to have my favorite blue cheese but it no longer carries it. I cannot fault them for it though, it is a very expensive cheese and rarely bought because of this.

This staff was not hospitable, rude, and I am embarrassed to have spent my money here.

We got a bunch of cheese and meat to-go for a picnic later in the day and the staff was great at helping us pick exactly what we wanted while offering samples and advice throughout even though they were relatively busy. If you love cheese...then this will be your place of worship. Small but attractive and well-designed space, plenty of seating, but the cases that span the store highlight all of the exotic, fresh stars of the show-the sublime cheese.

One of my favorite places in New Orleans! The Smokey Blue sandwich is my go to meal and the mac n cheese is killer. The employees are always super helpful if I need help picking out or trying new cheeses. Get a cheese plate and let them select their favorites. I have yet to have a bad experience or cheese.

Delicious food. I had the Wee Chef salad and the bacon was perfectly crisp and the 7-minute egg was just right. The dressing was nice and the salad had just the right amount of all the ingredients. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 is that its a little pricey and the food delivery was a bit confused and chaotic. It was hopping busy, order at counter. Great place of youre not in a hurry.

Super popular place. Went on a Tuesday to pick some cheese up. Place was bumping and the three workers were busily going back and forth dealing with cheese.Google says Tuesday around five is not busy. They were wrong today.Anyway I left empty handed. No one acknowledged my presence after about say 10 minutes. I will wait for good cheese but like to feel a bit more welcomed if Im going to do so.

A great and interesting selection of sandwiches and meats. Highly recommend the Gruyere with ham. Any place that uses Bellegarde bread is a winner in my book. This location also has a very wide wine and beer selection, as well as a meat and cheese plate so take some time and enjoy it, with outdoor seating too!

I love this place. The sandwiches are all excellent, the cheese selection is varied and interesting, and they have some nice happy hour specials. Staff members are consistently knowledgable and friendly. I removed a star only because the space is somewhat overcrowded (Id rather wait for a table and be comfortable than be seated quickly and feel stifled) and the cash registers are not typically manned in an efficient manner.

If I had to give it any negative comment it would be that they need to indicate the size of the sandwiches. Others in my group had sandwiches that were human sized. My niece and I had sandwiches that were 3x as big and we could have split one.Of course her dad finished hers and I at my second half for dinner. So it worked out. Oh yeah...they were absolutely wonderful! Love their cheese selections and their friendly service.

St James is a fantastic. They have the best cheeses and meats in New Orleans and actually supply many restaurants around town. We love going here for a wine or cider and enjoying the delicious cheese boards. Seating is limited so dont show up with a large party. Not many kids options so get a babysitter and have an adult beverage. Great place for dates although the weekends can get busy during meal times. They have two patios for you to choose from. The line inside can get quite cramped at times so try to go during non-peak hours. The cheese monger here is world class. They also serve bread from Bellegarde which is some of the best bread you will ever have. Highly recommended.

I was very hesitant to go today. I ordered a HOT Mozzarella and fresh basil pesto with artisanal salami grilled on ciabatta. DELICIOUS!!! Reminded me of a sandwich I used to get on the Upper East of Manhattan.

The large cooler filled with an incredible variety of cheese was impressive. But I wasnt there for wheels of exotic cheese, I was there for lunch.I ordered the smokey blue sandwich. i am a big fan of beef and blue cheese so I figured that sandwich would be perfect for me. The ingredients were obviously very fresh and of high quality. Together they should have made a great sandwich, but something was missing. The sandwich was kind of dry and difficult to eat. Dont get me wrong, it had a good taste, but something was missing. It was served with chips which seemed to be plain Zapps or some similar variety.The dining area is small. For a quick lunch that wasnt a huge issue, but the tables were so close together, carrying on a private conversation was impossible.I know most people love this place, but I didnt. Maybe it was just an off day, or maybe I ordered poorly. Next time I will try a different sandwich and see if I have the jaw dropping experience others have had.

I love this place for their fabulous selection of cheeses, properly stored and aged. No, its not Murrays, but given the location it is a real find and an asset to cheese lovers in Nola. However, every time I have been there I have gotten a staff member with attitude issues. I continue to go there for their cheeses, but honestly, how about some pleasant-pills?

I have been to the St. James Cheese company several times since they opened. This review is based on several visits. I think they have excellent food. My issue is more with the service. Horrible customer service. I wrote them an e-mail a couple of months ago and explained my frustration but to date, I still have not received a response. The bottom line is they have Whole Food Pricing and Walmart customer service. Do yourself a favor go to Whole Food. Much more pleasant experience.
