Support this place!Local guitar shops are hard to keep open.Staff were helpful, courteous and there when I needed them: nothing more, nothing less; This is the main reason Ill be stopping back to see whats new.Riff City has a refreshing catalog of hand-picked electric guitars ranging from the Holy Grail of axes to the 6-string Inspiration for the serious beginner.Amp selection seemed restricted to the standards, a complete selection of heavy Fender tube-amps - which isnt necessarily a bad thing.Bass guitars were scarce. I would love to see more mid-range basses from new start-ups and boutiques and used Jazz Basses of from Japan and 90s Mexican model. The foot-pedal selection is insane. If youre looking to craft your own unique sound Im sure youll find an effect for it here. Theres enough hand-crafted, custom painted, feature-rich switches to make your head spin.I would like to see more midi foot switch boards and computer interfaces targeted for live and studio environments.
The best example of why drugs and work are probably not a good idea. If you can stomach the staff and service, the inside of the shop is very pretty and their selection is fantastic. If you know what you want, go in, get it, and get out. Keep your head down, try not to ask for an adult, and youll be fine. If you want help, there are plenty of other guitar shops and if you have the opportunity just go to twin town. Its cheaper and the employees are less millennial. If you are going on tour tomorrow and need a half-butt set up, you dont care about customer service, or this is the only place that you can buy the guild you want, then this place is for you.If you are smart enough to plan ahead, go somewhere else. You will have a much more pleasant experience. .Oh check out their sale bin. Theres good stuff there.
The store is clean and looks really nice. Its not like walking into a Guitar Center that is littered with stuff everywhere. They have a good amount of amount of NICE guitars that a reasonable priced and actually tuned! Nice assortment of pedals too. Really nice atmosphere in their shop.Everyone at the shop was friendly, knowledgeable, and humble enough to admit if they didnt know something. They greet you and ask if you want help with anything. If you dont, they leave you alone and let you do your thing. Theyre not pushy and dont mind if you play their stuff. Just a really friendly group of people. I will be doing business with them the next time I need something.
Went there for the first time today. The store is absolutely wonderful. Their selection of guitars and gear is diverse and amazing. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and extremely friendly. The owner Joe personally took the time to chat me up, despite being busy with what he was doing. They really have the personal touch thats been missing from most other Twin City music stores Ive visited over the last few decades. The store itself is beautiful and laid out great for being able to really appreciate all of their products. All in all, my experience was excellent and I have definitely found my new favorite music shop in town to frequent.
Fantastic. Much closer to home and way too close to work than the St. Joseph location and just as good. Super friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating for beginners with a good selection of entry level guitars, amps, etc. but high end stuff as well. They are happy to set up any of it to try out and its just a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. There are a few really good shops in the area but this is now my favorite.
Great local shop, excellent selection of pedals and amps. Guitar inventory a little thin but still several models that cannot be found locally. Staff is very helpful and is willing to find answers to detailed questions.
I love supporting smaller businesses. This place is really great if youre in the market for a guitar, amp, or some boutique pedals. If youre looking for accessories or anything else, its a bit underwhelming. The sales person I dealt with was extremely friendly and helpful.
Stopped in to check it out. Friendly workers. Great selection of quality guitars and amps. Very impressed with the pedal selection as well. They also do service and set ups. Ill definitely be back when I have GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome).
Their selection of guitars and other related items is good, but it does not make up for the treatment of customers of color. I have been in several times with a friend and, each time, we are treated with caution and constantly monitored under the guise of “customer service.” We are always followed, constantly asked if we “need help”. We call that “customer servicing” potential thieves at prior retail jobs. I get it if you are certain a person has stolen something and is preparing to leave, but now when two people of color just walk in the damn door! Just today, my friend and I were there to buy new strings. We stopped to look at some acoustic guitars in a room closed off by a clear glass door and wall. A man stood directly behind me and the glass wall as we were in there. Later, my friend was heading to the counter (which happens to be near the door) to pay for his new guitar strings and he was abruptly cut off by an employee, as if he was making a break for the door. Sure he asked if we were ready to check out but, this man dropped what he was doing with another person and literally made a break toward my friend and cut him off like a terrible driver on the freeway. This treatment is not consistent with caucasian customers and I am not okay with it. I will go back to buying my guitars and accessories online. It’s more convenient for me anyway. I don’t have to leave and the guitar comes to me.
Hope everything goes smooth because if you have any issues with your order they will not be in any hurry to help you. Basically when they feel like getting things worked out for you then you will get an email. But it will be an email saying they what they will do and then you will have to wait some more. They obviously dont care about their customers unless that customer is willing to just take anything regardless of condition or quality. Disappointing because I used to really like this place but they just dont show any respect to their customers who spend a lot of money.
Been playing guitar for a long time. Good stuff here. Mostly new product, not much used, decent pricing, picked up DR coated strings at $6 a set! Good score! Had to be the quietest Guitar store Ive been in. They are a Kempfer dealer but didnt have a Floyd nut shim pack?
Small shop giving very knowledgeable and attentive staff. My husband bought a guitar!! Excellent Black Friday price and very good quality for this price! We highly recommend this place!!
Awesome to have a guitar shop close to home like this place. Staff has always been very friendly. I have never entered without a hello and a smile. Staff was always willing to help. Highly recommend for all your guitar needs!
Was very surprised to see a guitar shop open so close to me, so I stopped in to check it out! Very nice shop! Talked to one of the gentlemen at the counter who was very cordial and answered all of my questions about the business, how they started, the current store front and the inventory.Walked around to check things out and they have a very nice selection of guitars, basses and equipment. They also had a separate room that had a bunch of acoustic guitars hanging and ready to try out.Speaking of trying it out, there were quite a few people jamming and the staff wasnt creeping over their shoulders or following people around. Refreshing compared to other places Ive been.I noticed there were a few main brands that I didnt see in stock so I went back up to the counter and inquired and was told they were working on getting them in stock, but I was assured that if I didnt see anything in the floor, they could order it as their main store and warehouse are in St. Cloud and they do a ton of business through their online store. If youre just looking for a new set of strings or looking to add another guitar to your current lineup, stop by and support these guys!
Very professional services. Prompt attention to detail. I would highly recommend this music store to anyone who is serious about their equipment.😎
Great shop, one of the only spots to try the range of Reverend guitars. Top notch people and a great pedal spot.
Possibly the best guitar shop around. I wish it wasnt going out of business.
Just wanted to say awesome store with great staff! Knowledgeable, warm & welcoming. Highly recommend the whole team here 👍
It is a nice shop for high-end guitars. I thought the sales person was a little rude asking me about my skill level in playing. So, if Im not good enough, would I not be allowed to be shopping there?
Riffcity is tops when it comes to on line purchases. They are cheaper than Musician’s Friend and Guitar Center. I recently purchased a hard to find Bass from Riffcity it and was 20% cheaper than Musician’s Friend, plus Musician’s Friend had the bass on back order. They also offer free shipping. Customer Service is very personable and they go out of the way to find products for you. Riffcity is a “Class Act.” 👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great store! Super helpful staff and you can find some good deals too!
I like this place a lot - helpful people, good selection, lots of unique stuff you can actually see and play. Great shop!
The sales staff is very helpful and patient, even with middle aged parents picking out a beginner guitar for their kid! We have really enjoyed every interaction and will keep going back for more!
Really nice people, knowledgeable. Did a great job on the guitar repair too!!
These are good dudes here - knowledgeable, not pushy, great selection of pedals, interesting guitars and amps not common to most US retailers (Reverend, Victory, Hampstead).
Setup service is quick (1 day) and really good. Very happy with the way my guitar feels and plays!
I bought my dream guitar (a PRS Core Custom 24) at Riff City about a week ago and couldnt be happier with the purchase. The guitar aside, every staff member with whom I interacted was friendly and knowledgable. There was no pressure to buy the guitar whatsoever after playing it in the store. Their guitar tech was unavailable the day I bought the guitar, so I brought it back for its initial setup (included with the purchase, unlike at Guitar Center), which they finished within a couple hours of me dropping off the guitar. Honestly the guitar probably didnt need much work as it played great from the factory setup, but if anything it feels better and it was nice to receive some free premium strings. I plan on returning to Riff City for most of my future guitar-related purchases.
Very nice store with helpful staff. Good products, well-stocked. Very clean and organized.
Do not trust this company to ship anything and absolutely dont use Paypal with them. If something goes wrong (such a lost guitar during shipping in my case) they will hold your funds hostage. Use a more trustworthy company like Sweetwater, or hell, even Amazon as they stand behind their shipping and returns.Maybe they are fine in person, but never order on web.EDIT: 10/3/2017 - 2 months to the day, the missing guitar turned up at my door. Have amended my review, but I standby my dont order online recommendation.
The selection of guitars is good, but it seems like amps, cabinets, effects are out of stock or located at another store. Ive had great and poor service here.
Friendly and knowledgeable people great selection of guitars and amps, and an even larger selection of pedals
They fixed my guitar. Im happy
