I love what they have done to this place, however the baristas are absolutely horrible. Especially when you do the mobile app. they place your coffee behind the glass, and they ask for you not to reach over, understandable (covid) so I get. However, why would you completely ignore the group of people standing where it says to stand for mobile pick up and not once bother to look up and ask if anyone is waiting to pick up their order? but yet be upset when you KINDLY ask for your order. I would also like to note that it was not a busy!!
The barista at this Starbucks is openly rude and unpleasant. I know we are all under a lot of stress right now, but if we could not start the disrespect that is going around right now, it may stay out. She definitely has the integrity of the stock in mind when she rudely badgers people about her territorial area behind the screen, but don’t be short and stern with those who do not pose a threat. Fight or flight instinct needs to be calmed before moving on.I will save my money and the calories by forgoing the costly rude service. Thank you for that much, my drink was also made incorrectly.
Admirable staff, clean and welcoming environment. I do enjoy the spoutd of inspiration they leave on the board next to the pickup counter!
Nice place to sit and study or read or work on computer but staff can sometimes be abrasive and not very nice or helpful
The barista at the register was barely listening to the customer and occasionally just stepped away to do other things. I personally know this is not what Starbucks wants you to do. The reason it was problematic was that she only got parts of our order correct and completely missed other parts. This happened even though we repeated ourselves. Thanks for the half right order that truly wasn’t complicated.
Very fast order. In and out
Great place and great customer service that isnt out there much these day! Great job!
I had a pleasant and relaxing time. The service was fast. Food and drink tasted very fresh. Typical Starbucks pricing, higher than Dunkin, but lower than fancy cafes. Clean. But what I liked was the old city look, in an old building, with a very peaceful and relaxed crowd. The crew was very down to earth, and mostly full of smiles. Manager was one of the hardest workers Ive seen. She kept moving and did not stop.
Dont have enough words to describe Starbucks, but this is the only place in the vicinity and they deliver. The dine in arrangement is open with a nice ambience and music. Would highly recommend their double blended frappuchinos.
I enjoyed this Starbucks & the options on cups, coffee, accessories are excellent.
I am an avid coffee nut. Starbucks has always been expensivebut you know what? Theyre the best send for the best Ill pay without question.....
Friendly staff, good selection of items, nice space to sit and work or chat.
Staff a bit confused in communication and gruff attitude. I hope that person was just hoping a bad day.
How in the hell does a starbucks sell out of ice green tea at 950am!!!!!!!Takes forever for an order. Never againPlaying on phones when should be making orders.Unreal
The best place to get coffee.
Busy as this Starbucks can get, close to the two Yale art galleries and boutique shopping, and adjacent to the campus, the friendly staff keep the line moving and get your order right. Great drinks, always a good selection of sandwiches and snacks. But can’t guarantee you will be able to find a seat. In warm weather you can take your drink across the street and sit at the cafe tables on the plaza of the Yale University Art Gallery.
Always is nice a cup of good coffee and good service, but this morning Im waiting at the pick up area and after me got a very blonde young woman, and this Starbucks man employee ask her first whats she order and obviously shes standing behind me, after he got her order ask me for my; of course I told him I was there first but because Im not blond he didnt ask me first; he didnt say anything more than Im walking away!. Very disappointed of customer service in this place, so sad the Starbucks at Church is close.
This Starbucks in a really nice place, great furniture and great location in downtown New Haven. Unfortunately the kids serving were in a really bad mood and talking to regular customers, it seems to be the mood around. Since I ordered over the internet I was generous with my tip, but I regretted tipping in advance because the obvious bad mood of the kids, that felt they were doing me a favor, did not reserve a dime
You never know what your gonna get with these employees, curly head at the register is always rude my advice is to keep the attitude home while working! The young man working by the pick up counter is always jolly. The heavy set guy at the registers was doing to much as well.
Terrible, dirty underwhelming service overwhelmed staff. A shame really
I love Starbucks it is my go-to place to get i nice refreshing tea, or coffee to wake me up or when Im feeling something sweet I tend to get their caramel Frappuccino I highly recommend. On another hand they have really good and healthy breakfast, lunch and snack choices.
Good air-conditioning
Don’t really recommend for POC we are looked at awkwardly by both some of the rude staff and Yale students. Can’t wait until the church street location opens again it’s far better and the people there will always treat you with respect.
Had my drink, that’s all that matters. Would give 5 stars but this location is far away from the side of downtown i’m usually on. They used to have one right next to wells fargo but shut down for some reason, maybe the pandemic drove it to the ground even though that starbucks was always fuller than this one.
The food is creatively prepared and artistically served by a caring.
Its always crowed and theres a wait even when you order online and pick up, but if you like it its worth the wait besides its seems to be overwhelming long-awaited everywhere since covid lots of customers but not enough staff
Always friendly
Nice environment,I have received excellent customer service
Excessive waste time to pick up and is online order
Always a lovely experience. Only complaint is lack of seating because its always busy and they dont have a lot of seats to begin with. (pumpkin cold brew is life)
Slow service
Nice and quiet even when full of customers. Thats possibly because half of them are concentrating on their laptops. The service is quick though they could take time out to clean up once in a while. Trash is overflowing the last two times I was in here.
Well managed, clean restaurant. Quality consistent with other Starbucks locations. Very well trained staff.
Always fast!
Clone strict vivid rules
Staffed with the best people who serve the best product. Service can be slow due to demand but is very worth it.
This is a very efficient store and employees know what they are doing. It is a work in progress for being perfect but on their way.
Food eh, drinks 10/10!
I enjoy their dark roast coffee, also the best part of the visit was one young lady that worked there. She was pretty tattooed up and she looked awesome. Good judgment on managements part.
The guy at the cash register was very unpleasant, short and rude. He acted like I was inconveniencing him by placing an order and was very annoyed when we couldnt understand each other well because we were speaking through masks and plexiglass.
A great place to get work done. Plenty of tables and fast wifi. I would recommend coming here if you need a coffee shop to work at. In bonus is it is the heart of Yale of a lot of good restaurants near by.
Coffee awesome, bagel awesome, guy who cashed me out not awesome. I dont normally come to Starbucks so I ordered by saying cream and sugar, now instead of just saying you can add whatever you like right over there made it a point we dont do that here for you, bring your coffee where those things are kept at other bar then when I said Id like plain cream cheese, he again in a condescending manner told me well thats the only kind we have here any way instead of just saying nothing or ok rock on enjoy. Simple stuff like that gave me all the reason why it will be my last trip there.
Starbuck’s service is good and I just love their Frappes.
Awesome!
The girl rose is so nice !!!
Yalie Starbucks. If it is summer can be quiet and relaxing. When classes are in session can be bustling and difficult to find a seat.
Clean, staff super friendly
I visited here on a Saturday afternoon at a peak time. There were only three employees working but they were still courteous and were working efficiently. There were obviously a large number of mobile orders that were not being picked up and that caused there to be a wait. But even still I was surprised how quickly my drink was made. This location has a Clover used to brew Starbucks Reserve coffee. I got a 16oz of the Sun-dried Ethiopian for $4.50. It was delicious.
My favorite place for coffee and catch up on work. Yes, they do offer nclover coffee which is an exotic coffee from different parts of the world made on the clover machine. Exotic and robust.
Its Starbucks. Same as ANY other one, though be a lil careful. Some odd people are about, dont got to the toilet leaving all your stuff for example.
My favorite place for coffee no one can beat them for a great cup of coffee. Some Starbucks offer clover coffee which is an exotic coffee from different parts of the world made on the clover machine. Exotic and different!!!!
Ive been to better Starbucks stores, but it blows the one away that used to be couple of blocks away on the corner of Chapel & Church Sts. That said, I wish there were more stores in the New Haven area. One is pretty much forced into visiting a DD in this area of the state most likely due to the low-end demographic...
They always have he best coffee I recommend Starbucks to everyone cat loves coffee the staff there is great I never have a problem with them they take me very well and once again I recommend Starbucks over any coffee place out there
Wonderful street views and a great, seemingly perpetually lively atmosphere. It will be hard to find seating, but usually the wait for drinks isnt too bad. If it is really busy, check out the other Starbucks literally one block down.
The staff are very professional and the chai latte with 2 extra pumps steamed almond mink and 4 vanilla pumps is really yummy
Nice to take a break in the middle of the down town New Haven. staffs are kind and nice. but sometimes, the speed of service is not fast enough than you expect because of piles of orders. it is pleasure to sit and watch outside. WIFI, yes!
The manager here is really cool and kind to his employees; I enjoy listening to their conversations when I work here early in the morning
Nice meeting spot close to campus. A chain but has a nice ambience.
Its a Starbucks! They are ubiquitous and consistent. Coffee is always good. Baked goods are better than grocery store, but not as good as a real bakery. Prices are high, but you can offset that a little with their mobile app and rewards program. Best item on the menu (IMHO) is the hot cocoa. Several people buy a coffee, claim a table and camp out (leeching on the free WiFi) while studying or working.
Great
Service is variable, but the newest baristas are actually much better than some of those working here last year.Edit - consistently bad as of 05/21/17. Go a block down to the better Starbucks.
Always quick and helpful service. Gets busy because its in a high traffic area but always a nice play to relax and finish some work. Or to just enjoy some good coffee!
Best lemon pound cake
Love this Starbucks location all of the staff are very friendly and know my order.
I used to go there all the time. Someof the staff there kinda rubbed me the wrong way at times, but whatever. You get that anywhere, right? When COVID came they shut down. I was truly at a loss! But I managed. When they opened again I went back. The first time I went back I had another one of those less than thrilled customer service experiences; I wrote it off, thinking that everybody has bad days. The second (and last) time I went back I had more of the same, and from the same person. At this point I decided to speak up. Mind you, Ive worked many years in food service....I know full well how hard it can be. I dont like to complain, and rarely do. I got the attention of another employee there and asked them where the supervisor was. To my surprise, I learned that the supervisor was the tall gentleman - the same person as the one who waited on me.Go figure. Now it makes perfect sense.
Terrible service, not enough staff working for the traffic coming in.
Asked for no sugar coffee and got sweet coffee and didnt realize until I got on I-84 by exit 8. Upon going back to SB later they were arrogant and refused making good.
This Starbucks needs to be RENOVATED! The design, the smell, the air conditioning make it not an attractive place to sit and enjoy your coffee, tea, drink or snack..... From a BUSINESS perspective, this place needs to be renovated!
Ive never felt the need to give ratings to the places I go to, but this just felt NECESSARY.if I could give this place a Negative rating I would. The girls who work here are not friendly, or welcoming. They speak short and look annoyed. This Starbucks also has the most disgusting bathroom I have ever seen in any Starbucks. The womans bathroom doesnt work, so men and women are both using the only one they have. It has urine and feces marks on the top and bottom of bathroom, floors are gross and sink was equally as gross. This was my first time ever being in this Starbucks and definitely would be my last. I DEFINITELY had higher expectations considering this is a Yale community. Thumbs down X 100,000,000. At least my Mocha Frapp was good.
The morning baristas (is that the plural?) I have met treat every customer as an individual, and not as parts of a crowd. I love the service as much as I do my flat white.
This is the best managed and staffed Starbucks I have ever been to. Period. More than that, it always feels like a neighborhood spot and the delivery of service and caffeine are amazing.
The baristas here have a great personality! My only criticism is that this location was not very clean. The countertops and tables werent wiped off. One of the tables was occupied for most of the day by a street artists backpack. While I love that Starbucks supports these artists, it couldve been held for him in the back room, freeing up the much-coveted window table.
I love there lemon cake wish they were open on my way to work
Its Starbucks. Its okay but 9 out of ten times theres a local coffee shop with better coffee in walking distance.
Good brownies and good music the manager is pretty cool so is the gentleman that gives me a cup of coffee that wears the hat and glasses to the main the security blazer every morning
Im visiting at New Haven and came here to donreading so I would fall asleep. This seems like a central place to be but I want to mention two things in particular. The lady who waited on me was very nice, respectful, and very efficient with making my drink. There is a varied group of people picking up drinks, many business men and women, college kids, and a large homeless population. All patrons were respectful and the staff has very nice hospitality. Giving costumers ice without being rude or making a big deal as Ive seen in other places (I mean what does it cost to make ice). A women came in and was super upset for spilling something on herself and the offered to refill her cup. She left then came back in and asked for a manager and I am very proud of the man for letting her know the number but also not giving into her demands. She will be okay. Thanks for a great place to be!!!
Either you like their coffee, or you like Dunkin. Id much rather have a Starbucks decaf pour over with an extra scoop. Lasts all day. Costs less than Dunkin too, for the rime.
I don’t like the new people at all and specially the old lady with glasses who always work morning shift, she’s always not in mood rude and talking to customers like she doesn’t care. Horrible customer service. But I still love Starbucks.
Strongly disliked the experienceWe went in for a holiday coffee and to our surprise, everyone sitting there on their laptops. Should be a time limit, not there wasnt. I understand people on laptops but on the weekend let other people enjoy. A coffee.
Cam be VERY busy at peak times. I only ever get black coffee so I cant comment on their food or other drinks. Coffee is never burnt tasting. Often out of blond.
Nice old school hardware shop!
In the heart of Yale campus, this Starbucks offers a good glimpse of the community. Excellent service, lively and polite.
Coffee good as always, got you through the line quickly.
The people there are polite and very nice. The drinks there are delicious and so is the food.
Ive been to my fair share of starbucks, but none as slow as this one. They will literally have 5 people milling about and a line out the door. It takes 10-20 minutes just to get a black coffee, much longer if you are ordering an espresso drink. Since I work across the street, I suffer the long wait for convenience (and a steady stream of giftcards). The operation is simply inefficient.
Great service always with a smile. They always get your drink right. Good vibes. My favorite store in the area.
This was one of the best Starbucks in New Haven, but lately the standar of it going down the t*****. Especially TODAY! the smell of the place like a dead fish😷😷😷Wish you guys put it back together👐💛
Nice atmosphere. Workers are very helpful and friendly. I ordered using the app.
So apparently preparing a bagel toasted dark requires an advanced degree . My first bagel came back as if it had been threatened with the toaster. Cold, doughy and gross. I returned it and asked for it to be toasted dark. It came back pretty much the same way. I get it. The precious little Yalies need their face time. But if you are going to offer to serve food the you should listen to what your customer requests..
A cute branch, smiling employees, not too busy during the summer (didnt go during semester yet)
