Comfortable place. Checks all the boxes of a cigar bar. Not a bad whiskey selection. Very basic knowledge and suggestions by a staff member. Came across as very judgy. Please dont tell me a price when I order bourbon. Its $22 just so you know.. after asking for a whiskey list and being told to look at the shelves... Its offensive.

When in CT I ALWAYS have to stop at the Owl Shop. Their cigar selection is AMAZING! You can find almost anything you want. The staff is incredibly helpful and just nice in general. If youre new to smoking cigars you can absolutely ask what the recommendations are and they will help you find something perfect for you! They also have a wonderful alcohol selection but my favorite part is definitely the coffee. Their espresso is potent their coffee is fresh. There is nothing like a strong coffee and a cigar to really just get you going.

Fantastic place for a cigar and a cocktail. Not too pricey either. The guys that work there are always kind of gruff, but the girls are always very nice and helpful.

I called and asked what time they are open to which they replied “930pm” which is fine but then once I got there with my party I was told that you have to make a reservation a day before. Why not say that when a customer calls?? So I waisted my time and gas to drive there just to be rudely dismissed. So disappointing especially when it was by the owner. I won’t be coming back sadly.

Going to the Owl Shop is like walking back in time to the roaring 1920s. Copper ashtrays and leather chairs decorate the floor with brick walls and an antique tin ceiling. The staff and management are very friendly, positive, and offer great advice for choosing a great cigar or whiskey of choice.

Amazing cigar selection and their menu has pages of whiskeys to choose from. The vibe is casual, but if you dress formally youll be in good company on the weekends as people frequent this place as a post-dinner joint. Plus, its the only place in Connecticut that allows smoking indoors!

A quintessential cigar bar. I dont smoke cigars, however the vibe of this place is undeniably cool. I come here with my friends and smoke cigars and I enjoy it. That drinks are good, the staff is helpful and its an all-around enjoyable place.

Really great drinks made by a bartender who knows how to make them. It is a cigar bar, so smoke is expected and was perfect for my wife and I.

I really like this place. My friends brought me because who doesnt love a good cigar and drink? They have a really nice selection of both and the atmosphere is very comfortable and feels chic. My only quip is it can get loud but not obnoxiously so, instead just a little tough to relax and talk.

This is the best cigar bar I have found in Connecticut without a doubt. The staff know their business and are exceptional. The selection of cigars and drinks is outstanding and the whole experience is just a lot of fun. Love the outdoor area as well as the lounge. Prices are fair for such a quality place. Will be back whenever I find myself in New Haven.

The only place around that has what The Owl Shop offers. Not a spot for nonsmokers, but a fantastic selection of cigars and drinks. Jazz music on certain nights top off the experience. Definitely a must visit.

I love this place for so many reasons. Its a classy establishment that sells the finest cigars, cigarettes and pipe tobacco among many other things. The staff is beyond awesome! They are always available for me to answer any questions I may have on cigars. They have great insight to recommend a new smoke according to the various types of cigars and cigarettes I tend to crave. Overendulgenc is in pleasure feeds my spirit. L

One of my favorite places. I cant attest to the food since I have never eaten there, but the atmosphere has changed quite a bit since I was a student at Yale. When I was there, it was strictly a smoke shop. Now you can enjoy a beer or a glass of scotch with your cigar or your favorite pipe tobacco. I always love ending my nights in New Haven here with good friends.

Recommend by a friend, ended up going to buy some celebratory cigars. And stayed for the amazing relaxing atmosphere and coffee. The staff was wonderful and helpful recommending a perfect cigar. If I could rate higher I would.

I dont smoke (asthma) but I have friends who do. We go to The Owl Shop together and I have never had an issue breathing here. The space is very well ventilated and apart from their extensive collection of cigars they have both espresso and liquor bars staffed by knowledgeable friendly people. Seating is comfortable and relaxing. Its a good spot for any sort of meeting, casual or professional.

I do not smoke because it is intimidating to me. I do like to come here though and walk through the restaurant. I get a good smoky smell on my clothes and then i can tell my friends when i see them that i was just smoking a cigar and they will believe me for a few days until it wears off.

It was not too smokey even though a cigar bar. The drunks were good and reasonably priced. The crowd was mostly young professionals and if you park across the street in the garage the parking is free. All in all a good night.

Great place to go for a whiskey drink in New Haven. They made me one of the best Old Fashion cocktails Ive ever had. Very classy place with a lot of cigar options.

They have a great selection of cigars, the staff are good at helping you choose what to get. They have a decent bar, but seating can get packed. They also have a lightly heated outdoor seating area.

The Owl Shop is a God send for the cigar smoker. A comfortable smoking lounge with a great barista, an amazing bar and a terrific cigar selection. There are TVs for sports (no volume so not intrusive) and excellent live bands a few nights a week. I have never been to a better cigar lounge anywhere.

My experience of the owl shop is always a good one. Great place to go for LIVE jazz on Wednesday nights. Excellent customer service and a staff that will remember your name. Theres not much more I can ask for. Keep up the good work guys!!

This was the first place I went for a night out after moving to the area. The staff was very attentive and on top of everything. There was an amazing Grateful Dead cover band that I thoroughly enjoyed! I cant wait to visit again!

This place is great! It is one of the few bars in Connecticut where you can smoke (its also a tobacco shop). That being said, if you dont want to be around cigar and cigarette smoke, dont come in.The staff is friendly and courteous, and are all ways ready to make a recommendation when it comes to picking a cigar, and they have a wide ranging selection. They have a great selection of scotch as well... well, they have a great selection of high end liquor all around. Be aware, though, they DO NOT have a tap system (sorry draught beer fans).You can grab a seat at the bar or in one of the comfy club chairs. I stop in on off nights, so I cant speak to how busy it gets on weekends.The Owl Shop is right near Yale, so you will likely find a mix of college students and staff; though, there are a good number of non-Yale regulars.

I love this local classic. A tremendously large selectionof cigars from various brands, a well stocked bar of quality spirits and great ambiance for all crowds. They also host a number of events throughout the month including exclusive tastings.

This is a cigar bar. The moment you walk in, you get hit with a wall of earthy, aromatic fumes that evokes a time when smoke and drink were an inseparable part of the social experience. I went along with a friend who wanted the company, but I myself dont smoke. Going here makes me wish I did. The layout encourages conversation, and the decor of the place makes you feel at home instantly. There are TVs on the wall to take a glance at whatever game is on, and the wait staff will take care of you very well to make sure your glass is always full.
