Pleasantly surprised by this quaint spot. Excellent service - our food came out in less than 5 minutes. We scarfed it down in even less time because it was DELICIOUS! And it only cost a few bucks per person. Everyone there seemed to know each other and be friendly. Definitely recommend if youre in New Bern. Im vegetarian and they had plenty of options, however not the best spot for vegans or if you are gluten free.
Wonderfully down-home, personable staff, unbelievably reasonable prices… But most importantly… The most amazing delicious food! Tenderloin biscuits and gravy is the signature but throughout the menu it is like going back home to grandmas house! Visiting New Bern for the first time and decided to try this as locals recommendation for breakfast! Was NOT disappointed from the moment we were greeted by Marcie! What a gem!! She was super friendly! Southern hospitality at its finest! She also had the cutest little robot helper, I nick named “Gravy”, you know Biscuits go best with Gravy!The food was delicious. Portions were more than enough!!! If you are given the chance- stop by!Thanks Marcie for starting our morning off so great!!
I love this place. Real southern food. No extra salt needed. It was my husbands first time and he loved it. Our waitress Holly was amazing. Great attitude and southern hospitality. She made our dine in enjoyable and relaxing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good almost like homemade meal.
We came here for the first time as we just moved to New Bern. The biscuits here are awesome! If you’re a soda drinker like myself, you’ll enjoy their carbonation ratio. You ever go somewhere and the soda just taste like syrup? Not here. It’s a perfect fizz to syrup ratio. French toast was a great choice, the sausage and egg biscuit was also pretty good. But I think what will ultimately bring us back was the service we received from Holly. It was busy, but we were seen quickly, and Holly didn’t seem bothered by multiple tables and bouncing back and forth. We will come back!
Went for lunch today for the first time, following on the heels of MS Ride weekend. The staff was courteous and delightful from beginning to end. They were quick and accommodating, and fulfilled our order in record time, despite being fairly busy when we came in at the peak of lunch hour!! We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner through our time there, and even she was delightful. Their baked goods and donuts are also made in house, and do not disappoint! Wish I could give more than 5 stars, and cant wait to come back for breakfast!!!
My parents moved to New Bern this weekend. My husband and I came up from Greensboro to help with the move. My parents favorite meal of the day is breakfast. We had never heard of the country biscuit so we went. Our server was Channing. Channing is the perfect example of a fantastic server. She paid attention, made great menu suggestions and she was personable. And to top it off very funny!! Any time we visit New Bern not only will we stop in too see Channing but we will be eating delicious food with great service. Channing you are the best!

I decided to check out this local dive of a breakfast place, and Im glad I did. They are cooking just plain good ol country breakfast food, the kind you get from your mom. The biscuits are real, and made in house. No wonder this place is packed. It looks like a dive, but man oh man, dont let that hinder you. I will be back.

What a delicious experience! We had a lovely variety of food: Omelette, Biscuit sandwiches, donuts, Pancakes. All fresh, delicious, hot, and plentiful!However, the true stars are the staff and owner. Channing, our waitress, was phenomenal! Attentive, friendly, and beyond hospitable. Michelle, the owner, checked on us several times and gave stickers to my children. Guest satisfaction clearly is a priority.Highly recommend.
This place was straight up awesome! We moved out of Eastern NC about 10 years ago and were back to visit friends in the New Bern area. And I wanted a sandwich on a cheese biscuit...bad! This place did not disappoint. To begin with the ladies working the place are not just awesome, theyre nice too! They treated our 4 children great. Channing was an amazing server. The food was awesome...probably the best grits I ever had. And that Biscuit was just what I needed!

This place was incredible great staff, great service. Got french toast and country fried steak biscuit was excellent! Best thing was when the check came for 5 people with full meals and it was only 55$. If you are in the area and want some breakfast and warm comforting personalities this is the place to go

Big line at the drive thru but the servers made their way out and took orders and took care of people who called ahead of time. Despite being in the middle of their rush time it was very quick and the staff were very friendly! This my wife and Is first time here as we dont get the chance to go out for breakfast often. We did an online order. I got held up at an errand and was about 20 minutes late for the pickup. Despite the food having sat for 20 minutes (my own fault) and 10 more from the drive home, this might be the best breakfast we have ever had.The biscuits were so big and fluffy. The grits were great sweet or savory. The eggs were soft and not overcooked. The vegetables in the omelette were actually cooked all the way, and the chicken was juicy.I love that they had a drive through as well.The country biscuit will definitely be on our list when we visit New Bern again.
The biscuits are the best Ive had, ever. Fresh, perfectly buttery/salty, moist, and fluffy. The pancakes are delicious as well. The bacon was extra crispy (not my style) and grits had no flavor. It is a mom and pop joint filled with mostly friendly locals, which I love. I could have done without the group of individuals standing at the counter cussing and talking trash with one another for 15-20 minutes and not eating. Its a family establishment and this language should not be tolerated. No staff asked them to leave.
Got the Reuben sandwich which would have been real good except they do not drain their sour kraut so made sandwich soggy and messy. Also due to this not enough napkins. Service was wonderful! Since first time not sure about other dishes but food looked good and most plentiful and place was very busy.
My husband and I went to The Country Biscuit this morning, the service was way beyond our expectations. Sweet southern hospitality... nothin like it. The food was absolutely delicious and those donuts..... oh my goodness. But, truly the best part was when we went to pay and they asked where we were from and gifted us a coffee cup and a thank you card. You just arent treated like that enough nowadays. The staff were all sweet as sugar and truly it just made our rainy morning drive home something special to talk about. Everyone needs a little sunshine and Biscuits....
The hospitality of this restaurant is fantastic, Channing was AWESOME!! I would give this place 💯 stars. The donut biscuit was to die for!! The sausage egg biscuit was sooo delicious. The atmosphere was great and they were non stop. If ever in New Bern make sure you stop in and also let Michelle Lynn know how good everything was!!!
My concern is that with the delta variant in full force, waitresses were not wearing masks. Customers, mostly locals looked at us strangely for wearing them just to our table. This is the norm in most places. The tables needed to be further apart, also. Understanding that the restaurant industry is very short staffed,, I did not mind the long wait time for taking the order or food prep,, but cleanliness could have been improved.. Food was good and waitress was very friendly.

Good food. The service was lacking though. It wasnt because of staff shortage. They had plenty of servers. But we seemed to have fell through the cracks because we didnt have a dedicated server. We only saw a person at iur table two times. Once to take our order and once to bring the food. Never got the check. We ended up walking up to the counter to pay without it.
One of my favorite places to eat breakfast. Had the fried shrimp and grits. Both were delicious. Son had the biscuits and gravy and said it was the best he had ever eaten. It is an old place, but clean and service is good. A nice down home experience.

Amazing, showed up at 10 am on a Saturday and the restaurant was packed, was able to get a table within 5 minutes. Ordered the tenderloin biscuit and I strongly recommend it. The regular size is very filling but if your a massive lumberjack about to chop down some trees I recommend the larger size. Coffee was average. Staff were friendly, good atmosphere although I couldn’t figure out the Christmas tree lighting they had going on. Overall 5/5 would definitely eat at again. Next time I’m getting biscuits and donuts to go. P.S. this is the best place to eat breakfast that I have found in North Carolina.

Great hospitality as soon as we walked in. All the staff was very tentative to all the tables. Not a long wait on the food. My wife had the veggie omelet with grits and i had the two egg special with grits. Michelle and her crew passed my grits test. They were fresh, thick, and hot. A MUST TRY ARE THE BISCUIT DOUGHNUTS

A fantastic lunch today of liver and onions as I remembered my mother making many years ago. Found a restaurant and staff well worth many visits.
First.. yes go here... The food is awesome! When we walked in the waitress was at the front. She was told it was her table. She was very rude. The hostess just shrugged and said this is the last table. As if sorry. The people at tables at the front saw it. They were talking about it as we were being sat at our table. She was not happy when she showed up but she took our order and we didnt see her again until the end. THE REASON FOR THE 5? The food and prices are amazing. The Owner came and talked to us. She is an amazing person. I would not bring a business down because one person was having a bad day. At the end the waitress asked if there was an iissue. Told her the truth and told her to be careful what she does in front of people. I would recommend this please even with that situation. The food speaks for herself. The other waitress took care of us and overall, I am so glad at how it was handles. .

Disappointed with our lunch. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich and got a country fried steak instead. I ordered chicken fingers and cook said they were out I could get a fried chicken breast instead. It was good but the fries and biscuit were cold. We may go again and try the breakfast but wont go again for lunch.

Was greeted by several of the staff as soon as I walked in. It has the quaint country charm of a small town Cafe. Breakfast was served super fast and was good and tasty. Service was excellent and the price was very affordable. I would definitely come back again if Im ever passing this way.

UPDATE: I visited here again on a Sunday morning. The place was busy with locals and you could tell this is their place to be on Sunday mornings. The staff is always happy and friendly. The owner is spectacular and is very hands on. She take compliments and critiques very well and is always looking for ways to improve the business. This was the first time I tried the biscuit donuts Ive been hearing so much about!!! They are on point. Id recommend the donut holes They are cute and so tasty. Check this place out for breakfast next time youre in town!My parents and I came here for breakfast after church one Sunday and it was MY first visit. My parents go often and have told me how good the food is. They werent joking! It is very country in the best way possible! The food is cooked to order and is as close to a home cooked breakfast youre going to get outside of grandmas kitchen. The staff is all friendly and treat you like family when you come in. I am visiting my father-in-law(90 years young) and I saw the article in the Sunday Sun Journal of Michelle ‘s lifetime achievement of Trademarks on her biscuit, name & logo! When asked where I wanted to eat - I stated “The Country Biscuit”! We enjoyed our meals - Dad -biscuit & gray, me- small spinach, mushrooms & cheese omelet, grits & biscuit! All delicious! Worth every penny! Good service, clean, pleasant atmosphere. It is going to be a favorite every time I come to New Bern from Maryland.

My only regret is not coming here sooner!!! If you are looking for good ole southern cookin and that sweeeeet southern hospitality...seriously...look no further. We went there for the first time on Saturday, but they treated us like we came in there every day. & not just our waiter...every single person working checked on us. Like whaaattt??! That doesnt happen...ever! I had a chicken biscuit and OH MY GOSH. Talk about perfection. My husbands food was gone so fast I couldnt even tell you what he had. My daughter had a hamburger that my husband and I did not complain about having to help her finish. Perfect meat to bun to condiment to cheese ratio and they gave her alll the extra pickles. And speaking of the bun...I dont know what setting they have their toaster on, but I imagine it says heavenly because it was seriously toasted to *chefs kiss* perfection. and the donuts...oh, myyy the donuts. We were seriously satisfied with every last thing and we will be back very soon!!!

My wife and I had lunch here today. I had a cheeseburger with fries, my wife had breakfast at lunchtime. Great food and great portions. This is going to be my go to place from now on.
I was so excited to eat here seeing a 4+ rating. Never again. This food was so bland. I dont think they even shook a salt or pepper shaker over anything while it was cooking. Ordered to go. I didnt get drinks because their soda machine was down. I got home and didnt recv my mac-n-cheese nor my mashed potatoes n gravy i ordered. Lima beans were mush. I been missing greens for a minute being in NY...these were flavorless, literally flavorless. Waste of money. I will never eat here again.

Best homemade biscuits in craven county. The tenderloin gravy biscuit if phenomenal. Get the jumbo only of you wanna go back home and take a nap.Added plus is that youll be supporting a Veteran Owned business. Staff is all very frendly.
