If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place you want to be! They have such a large selection of fudge and confections! Plus they have a ton of candy jars where you can purchase individual wrapped candied as well! And if you just eant ice cream or a shake they have that covered too! Great staff! Amazing prices!

Wonderful everything - the ice cream, the candies and the employees! And located in beautiful downtown New Bern. Stopped in after afternoon lunch date with family and it was a great decision. Great wonderful flavours, I had the banana split with black cherry ice cream, banana pudding ice cream and vanilla.. it was delish! They offer a variety of fudge and candy assortments for any sweet tooth cravings. The employees were very personable and helpful and made this an experience beyond its treats. They have a few tables outside along a beautiful scenery view of local downtown New Bern, made great and a perfect day! Highly recommend!

Always a great tasty treat . Sitting in bear square is fun too, just watching the people. Even better when it gets turned into a winter wonderland for the Christmas season, and Bear City offers their treats!

Their ice cream is really, really good. But they are pretty slow. If you’re in a rush or want a “quick bite” this is NOT the place to go. If you have some time on your hands, go here! The staff was friendly but their precautions in relation to COVID was not the best. It could’ve been better for the health aspect, but most of the employees did a nice job. Cute area outside to mark your visit to New Bern!

The ice creams are good, but no employee wears mask, same for many customers. And when you order an ice cream, the employee holds the scoop in place with the thumb, no glove. Thats disappointing. I wont come back for a while. Its a pity because the products are good.

My second favorite stop while visiting New Bern was definitely the Bear City Fudge Co. It was hot, it was muggy, and a perfect day to stop and get some ice cream.We walked in the back way through Bear Plaza after parking on Middle St. and took in everything there was to see. The plaza has some wonderful old wood carvings of bears. Be sure to check them out when you visit. After strolling the plaza we walked into the store.What a site, it was like stepping back in time. This is a real old time candy shop. Theres basically 3 things here. Candy. Fudge and Ice Cream. First the place is beautiful and has a ton of atmosphere. You have to see it to believe it. They candy is all over the store and you can pick and choose whatever you like. Theres a shelf full of steel buckets just loaded with various candies and another wish glass jars full of candy.Behind the counter you have even more homemade chocolate candies and fudge and so many varieties that I could never type them all in here. Ive taken some pictures so take a look at them and youll see what Ive seen. At the back is the ice cream counter. Its amazing.We ended up ordering milkshakes, Chocolate of course, and checked out the store. Theres all kinds of neat things on the shelves and what look to be some old antique toys. I saw one of a old merry go round that was super cool. After we finished our shakes we grabbed some fudge to go.Soooo, if youre in New Bern and you have a sweet tooth, or even if you dont have a tooth, youll want to check out Bear City Fudge Co. The place is amazing!!! Youll be glad you did!

Oh wow. Beyond good sweets. Super friendly staff. You know its good when the smell hits you walking in the door. Dark Chocolate Cashew Turtles are a must try. This is a Must Try kind of place.

Adorable little fudge and candy shop with helpful workers! It adds a lot of charm to the historic downtown feel, and it would do you good to pop in for a visit here. The prices are a tad high but what do you expect with freshly homemade fudge and truffles? It’s worth the extra buck.

Ok..admittedly my ever present lack of foresight is to blame here but I placed an online order on Friday afternoon for a Sunday delivery of 8 pralines to my wonderful mother on her special day this year. So, in full embrace of my unrealistic request, directly after I submitted my order I called her apologizing that it would undoubtedly be late but, because Pralines are her favorite the wait would be one of suspenseful bliss. She of course was gracefully smitten and said what mattered most was the phone call from her favorite son. 😉. To my surprise on Sunday she received a hand delivered gift bag of individually wrapped Pralines. Because the order occurred on Friday and the delivery took place on Sunday morning, I’m fairly certain that it was delivered personally by someone from Bear City. So my sincerest apologies to Bear City for my premature assumption that my experience would understandably be administratively typical and routine. And thanks to Bear City for going out of your way to see to it that a Mom got her gift Mother’s Day.

This was our first time visiting Bear City Fudge. Just the smell alone is worth the visit. My daughters and I went there to get daddy a goodie box. The staff was so helpful. They put together a beautiful variety of treats from chocolate covered bacon to homemade peanut butter cups. Well definitely be going back again.

I got a half pound of peanut butter chocolate fudge from their vendor tent for the Beary-Not-So-Scary Trick or Treat this morning. First time trying, and its so delicious!! I got an edge of the pan portion and was highly impressed with the consistent texture! Super yummy, will definitely go back to their store.

I lived in North Carolina for 7 years, and Bear City Fudge Company was one of my favorite places to go. Their ice cream and fudge were delicious, and they always had a solid variety of candies. I used to love their jawbreakers. Whether you live here or are visiting, this is a great spot if you like sweets. Glad to see its still there.

Best fudge ever! We have had fudge in multiple states, homemade, and store bought, this is the best hands down. They also have ice cream, jars of candies, chocolate covered pretzels, and drinks. The indoor seating is cute and creative, the outdoor seating is shaded and plentiful. We even order fudge to send to relatives for Christmas from the website.

Such a cute shop! Stopped in here for some dessert on date night and found lots of goodies to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful and they offer little samples of the fudge so you can decide what you want before committing. They also have candy and ice cream. My husband enjoyed filling a little bag with the mixed candy and taffy. There is a really nice courtyard outside with tables and chairs for you to enjoy your treats. A great spot!

Went in today to find employees NOT USING GLOVES during food preparation nor pay transactions. Between this, uncovered food, and a backed up line, we left with a swiftness.

I love visiting a town, and finding a cute little place tucked down an alley, like this one was. Makes you feel like youre the only one who knows its there.We came for ice cream, just after dinner, and were expecting it to be closed. If they were closing, we would have never known. We had service with a smile. The chocolate/peanut butter ice cream made the evening complete.

The place is cozy and smells amazing inside. The fudge is fantastic, the ice cream is REAL and all of the candy is good! Every time I visit New Bern we always stop with the family and grab some treats! We will continue the tradition and stop by again soon!

Bear City Fudge is a MUST DO when visiting downtown New Bern. The Fudge and Ice Cream are always fresh and taste wonderful. No matter what flavor you choose you cant go wrong. We have given Fudge from Bear City to many of our friends as gifts. The store is a very happy one. From all the brightly covered Candy to the Brightly colored Ice Cream. The staff is always friendly. And full of suggestions on new things to try.

Yummy, yummy, yummy is all I can say. Friendly staff, everything is yummy from the hot chocolate to the chocolate covered pretzels to the assortment of candies and fudge.

Fudge is good. Fruit slice candies were ineatable from being hard, Not all of them but at least half if them. Giant peanut butter cup was old and uneatable.

They have cotton candy ice cream which my daughters loves. Great salted caramels. Cant wait to try the fudge

I love this shop and it is not what you think! A cupcake from here in my hand and I am irresistible for children - nieces, nephews, friends kids, colleagues kids... I know this is not the right way, just a short cut. But I am genuinely not good with children, they start crying whenever I try talking or playing with them. I see things that way: I buy you a cupcake, you give me a shot. However I just wanted to say that this place is really nice - service, sweets and all.

A wide and varied selection of fudge, candy and ice cream that has a unwieldy twist and not overly sweet in taste.The location is perfect within the historic center and relaxing. Be prepared during summer with an umbrella because it will more than likely rain.
