My first contact was to call them and ask if they have two kinds of plants I was looking for that no one else had. The woman was very nice and knowledgable and located the plants, told me how many they had in stock and what varieties. I was amazed! That is customer service you dont see or expect these days. I drove there and it was so huge I was overwhelmed, in a good way. I flagged down a worker to see where the plants were located, she walked me right to the plant section and helped me find the best plant, This was a 10+ expercience. I could not be happier to have found a place like Bates, and it is family owned which is a bonus. Prices were very fair and below many other nurseries, plants were healthy and well cared for. Kudos to Bates for a business well run!

They have everything you need, plants, mulch, trees, even some exotic plants... Also imported coconut mulch, which is like a peat moss type mulch. Very big place with any plants you would want, Im sure they can order for you if its not in stock.. They are voted as Nashvilles number one, ceremony should be this Saturday

Beautiful, massive selection with very healthy looking plants. The staff was very helpful and courteous: I did not need help, but I was asked by 4 separate people if I did, which is amazing customer service. Pricing is very reasonable on all plants. Have a few hours to kill? You could definitely tootle about this place and never get bored. Highly recommend, especially if youre a plant lover.

I live in a different city and really did not know who to call for what I was wanting. I found what I wanted online and ordered it to be delivered to someone in Nashville. They took the time they needed and made it happen for me!! Thank you very much Bates Nursery!! She loves her her Hydrangea and I love the quick response and the quality she was given!!

Impressive! A very LARGE collection of trees, shrubs, bushes, and flowers. And an extensive selection of usual, unusual, and hard to find botanical delights. Add to that garden tools, pots, garden art and more. With an abundance of knowledgeable and helpful staff, what more could you ask for? Next time I go I will take a picture of the acres of beautiful flowers to share.

Ive been a loyal customer of Bates Nursery for years, regardless of them being pricer than your average nursery. Recently bought a new property 45 minutes away. While I could easily go to a nursery closer to my new property, I continued to make the hour and a half round trip to Bates, that is, until today. I arrived on site to get a bed full of mulch to find the entry gates closed 15 minutes before their actual stated close time. You either close at 4PM or you close at 3:45pm. I cannot stand when businesses think its just fine to inconvenience people and waste their time by closing the doors before their actual close time, especially to loyal customers who have spent thousands of dollars over the years. So, although you wont find it stayed anywhere, they no longer accept customers (even long-time loyal ones) at around 3:45pm, maybe even earlier- or whenever they choose to close the gate. Lost a long-time customer.

Great selection and super nice folks!

I found a lot of hydrangeas were burnt from being in direct sun. When I asked if there was any flexibility in price, the lady just told me she didnt know. Not helpful. Everything is so expensive. I dont recommend buying gardening tools there.I found the same products at home depot and the plants looked way nicer.

The biggest best nursery I have ever been too it was about 2 acres of flowers veggies bushes roses I mean everything fruit trees planters big and small above ground planters they have pots seeds they have decorations everything loved it will be back!

This place is huge! They have a giant selection of indoor and outdoor plants, i was almost afraid I would get lost! Very friendly staff, and they also have a rewards program that saved me 20% because of the current sale! Im sure my husband wasnt as thrilled as I was to find such a cool new plant store =)

So very disappointed! Took my daughter and grandchildren on Tuesday and the gate workers would not let me enter. I was told No children are allowed and only 2 people in each car. It would have been nice to know before the trip was made. Will not go back! Pleasant View was happy to take care of our plant needs!

Bates Nursery is the best nursery in Nashville with excellent selection and price. They stand behind their plants with an excellent warranty and customer service is superb and they go out of their way to help and even assist with loading large purchases!

Great Selection with Helpful FRIENDLY Staff! The plants all seem very well maintained and watered. Ive been on busy weekend days and they seem to have plenty of people working in case you have any questions. Every time I asked someone a question they could find someone, quickly, with an answer or thoughtful suggestion if they were unsure themselves. Ive never waited in a long line to checkout, they have several registers with friendly cashiers and they do have folks there to help load your vehicle if you need that too.

Try to go to the nursery this last weekend and there was at least 30 cars in the parking lot and 15 down the road standing in line so when I returned on Tuesday 20 minutes before they opened 3rd car in the line was told didnt t open for 20 minutes said thats fine when they noticed I had a 3 year old in the car I was not allowed to take him and I was told to try another day livec 40 mins away nowhere on the website does it say no children now where on the gates And yet 30 people packed into the cars in the parking lot all in there at once probly more than 30 was OK. If were gonna put up rules what happened to social distance with 30 people in a place at 1 time shopping.

I love to load up with plants at Bates Nursery! Great help and price with an excellent selection! I also like that they advertise on Groupon too! More reason to load up. I am on The south side of town, but it is worth the trip!

I have been a very stubborn gardener for more than 30 years and I can say without hesitation that Bates Nursery is the best nursery in the Middle Tennessee area (and I have visited all of them!). Incredible selection of quality plant material. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Well worth the drive from Brentwood or anywhere else for that matter. No reason to go anywhere else -- I promise

Our interaction with the delivery driver was a big reason for my original review, but after talking with the owner, my view of this nursery has become more positive.***While their selection is great, their terrible customer service completely negates any positive aspects about this nursery. From the front desk staff to the delivery man, I experienced nothing but rudeness and impatience at every turn. I will not return to this nursery because of how terrible we were treated from multiple staff members. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.

Just left Bates. My husband and I bought 6 Rose bushes last year and we were told that they warranted theitheir rose bushes ffor a year Two died soWe took them back and was just told that they dont warranty ANY rose bushes. So dont go spend the extra money you will spend on their roses because they will NOT keep their promise! I wouldnt have spent the extra money on these had I known this I would have gone to a cheaper store!

Two stars because the blueberry bushes and hydrangea from previous purchases have done well. BUT I will not return after trying to purchase cold hardy bananas from Bates for 3 weeks. I have been by every weekend, and I dont even mind driving out because I like to look at the selectin. However, this weekend I was treated as though I was a moron for asking for a cold hardy banana, and that cold hardy tropicals do not exist. That is UNTIL a different cashier stepped in to correct her. They had sold the 2 that were brought in (which were sitting around on a sold cart from the previous day). Im so upset because they didnt order enough and they treated me as though I was foolish for asking about a product they carry. The cherry was that I asked to be called when more come in and was told, we are just too busy right now, and it would just get lost. Come back next week. I appreciate the honesty, but I am tired of trying and that is poor customer service. The quality of plants is great, but the quality of employees is not so much. I guess that is why I am so disappointed.
