I was passing through Nashville on a business trip, so I wanted to stop in at the legendary Gruhn Guitars and see it. Im not in the market for a guitar right now, but I did want a t-shirt. The friendly guy behind the counter encouraged me to play any guitar in the place, so I went around and played five or six, including a $13,000 Eric Clapton special.I encourage any musician to drop in and absorb the casual, friendly Gruhn vibe.
Visited for the first time and was amazed by the level of customer service! Their selection is vast and of quality products. We also visited the other big name vintage store near by and it was entirely underwhelming beginning with the staff ignoring us for whatever reason?! Bought a beautiful brand new fender Stratocaster American Ultra Luxe. Brittany, Brian, and Corey were very accommodating and just great genuine people. ALL my future musical purchases will be from Gruhn’s Guitars!
Worked with Kyle Harmon for this online purchase he was amazing!kept me updated from purchase to shipping and delivery.love this new carbon series. looking forward to my trip to Nashville to check out the store in person and hopefully meet Kyle to personally thank himVery Professional. Highly Recommend Gruhn Guits
I had a amazing experience! Staff is amazing! selection of merchandise on point! Cory was extremely helpful with the purchase of my new Martin D41! He also helped me find a high end left handed Les Paul for my son which they are working on now and we hope to be able to purchase soon! Looking forward to more business in the near future!
Talk about customer service. Ive never dealt with a company this good and wanting to make things perfect for the buyer. Recently bought a guitar that had a small issue with it. When I reached out to Corey to let him know, it was unbelievable the response and their desire to make it right. I will definitely only buy acoustics from Gruhn here on out. They are out of this world good guys.
Went here in september (the 11th i think) while in town for a conference.. walked from downtown, and was quite sweaty 🥵... i was welcome by the staff who told me to feel free to play anything.. i didnt want to drip on the instruments, so i didnt, just looked... What an inventory! thanks for the hospitality, it was a highlight of nashville...
Every time we go in, Gruhn makes our experience amazing! Most recently Kyle helped us he was so patient and kind. Everyone really listens to you and is so knowledgeable on their products!
Great staff, great inventory! Only place that you can lay your hands on that many Martin guitars to compare and pick out your perfect guitar. I spent 3 hours playing everything I wanted before choosing my D-35. Worth the drive to find my dream guitar. Thank you to everyone there.
George creates some of the best Custom Shop Martins out there at a great price. Snagged a 21 Series and love it. Everyone was great to work with. This is a legendary shop for good reason and they live up to it.
I was suggested to stop in and see George by my father. Probably 4 decades since my Dad first visited the store. It’s great to see a gifted person working. Stringed instruments are a constant source of enrichment. Great place to get your hands on one!
Son found just the right guitar, Taylor GS mini Koa plus. Awesome tone! Great customer support from Cody!
I can’t describe how absolutely blown away I was by my experience at Gruhn Guitars. They are the number one Martin guitar dealer in the country, and their selection of both vintage and new guitars is incredible. They also have a huge variety of fine mandolins, banjos, and dobros. This place is like a dreamland for any musician. It’s the kind of place you only imagined could exist! The staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly and they’ll let you take anything off the shelf and play it! I walked out with a beautiful new Martin D-18 Sinker Mahogany. In a nutshell, it’s the most explosive new instrument I’ve ever played. I also left my 1968 D-28 with them to get some repairs done... George and his staff are so knowledgeable, and I’m content that my valuable instrument is in the best hands possible. If you’re traveling to Nashville, don’t miss a stop in Gruhn’s! This place WAY beats all the other music stores in the area!
This is truly the guitar players Mecca! So much history and knowledge and great guitars! We even got the opportunity to visit with George Gruhn on the second floor for quite some time and admire his private collection of rare and prototype guitars.Got to see artist owned guitars and play some wonderful instruments that were almost 100 years old! Then got to go to the 3rd level which is the repair shop to see some other treasures!
This is the best place you could ever go for your music needs!! You will not be disappointed. The staff is amazing and I would give them 10 stars if possible. All the staff is super knowledgeable and willing to help you find the best instrument suited for you. This means a lot. Shout out to Kyle for being so patient and helping me find my new guitar. Thank you guys. I will definitely recommend you to others and be a future customer.
Found an extradinary guitar and did not want to bring home on the airplane. People at Gruhn said no problem. They packed the guitar. loosend strings, packet the head stock inside the case, packet the whole case in bubble wrap and shipped it very economically! My guitar was home and waiting form me in the same condition as I left it at the store. The inventory is extensive and the staff is extremely knowlegable. This is the most professional store I have visited!
A truly great guitar store for players and collectors. I saw and held a very rare 1952 Fender Esquire today, and learned about its history from one of the very knowledgeable staff. This is a must visit for serious guitarists!
My family enjoyed trying out the instruments. Theres 3 guitar players in my family and they all found something they loved to play! Well definitely be back next time we are in the area!
A great guitar shop with many other acoustic, string instruments. Bought a mandolin here and Kyle took a great amount of time and detailed focus to make sure everything was exactly what I wanted. I plan to return to buy a new banjo there sometime soon.
The legendary Gruhn Guitars. What else can I say? Incredible selection of high-end new, vintage, and acoustic guitars and basses. They have jazz boxes and ukuleles and do repairs and of course, famously, appraisals as well. Everyone here is SO GREAT to talk to, respectful and helpful and kind. Special thanks to Chloe for getting me in last-minute (during covid-19 they are requiring appointments for the showroom). I only had to wait about an hour. Love this place. I go every time Im in Nashville.
Brought my Taylor in for maintenance on February 2021 this year. Recently had same issues so took it back today (June 4, 2021). I met employee Tony today, he evaluated the situation, and remedied my problems within 15 minutes. Such a wonderful guy. We need more of him in this world. Otherwise there is a mixed bag of folks working there. Half are friendly and the other half dont seem to really care. Sincerely, Jeff
Very friendly, great service.Take off your coat and take one off the wall to play.
Gary was very helpful. He listened, I found a guitar and bought it.
Great staff. Great place. Very knowledgeable. Would definitely go back.
Joe Spann in the appraisal team was simply brilliant. He replied to emails very promptly and was able to offer details and clarification on a vintage Fender instrument that others had struggled to. He came through with a well written, detailed appraisal and valuation. It is understandable why Gruhn Guitars is the international benchmark. Thanks again.
The best guitar shop in the world! As soon as I walked in the door everyone was super nice and welcoming! I had the best experience of my life here! Thank you Gruhn Guitar’s!
My husband and I visited Gruhns a couple of days ago and really enjoyed the visit. There are some amazing guitars and other pieces. Staff is knowledgeable and nice. Brian asked us if we needed anything and was kind enough to give us a tour of the place that included a trip to the second floor not accessible to public, which was cool to get to see some extra special pieces. Thanks to Brian for making our first experience at Gruhns even cooler.
Very clean and well organized place. We’ll enjoyed the experience of going here and will go back in the future.
After months of research I decided to make the 8 hour drive to Music City USA to purchase my “forever” guitar! I knew of a few places to visit but had Gruhn Guitars at the top of my list. I scheduled an appointment and when I arrived I was overwhelmed(in a good way). The selection at Gruhn is unmatched by far!! The salesman, Gary, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating! After playing several guitars that I’d been researching, one finally spoke to me! I could not be more pleased with my shopping/purchase experience at Gruhn Guitars. I have bought guitars all over the country at shops big and small. This was without a shadow of a doubt the best guitar shopping experience I’ve ever had! Thank You!!! I WILL be back soon!!!
Wonderful staff. Its a great place to play
Rob Ruff and the sales staff were wonderful! Very honest and the Gibson guitar I purchased from them was exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend them!
Great guitar store!! Friendly helpful staff!!
I could not be happier with my purchase through Gruhn Guitars!! I cannot express how grateful I am for their care and customer service and respect for high quality instruments, and saving me from having to deal with Guitar Cntr. Rob at Gruhns hooked me up with my first Martin and Im very proud of it. Thank you Gruhn Guitars!!
Really good shop if you are looking for acoustics (they had tons of Martins and Taylors and some boutique brands) it is somewhat limited as far as electrics go, but the staff was superb and the guitars were outstanding and all in tune. Overall, I would recommend this shop to anyone, especially acoustic players.
Get your next great guitar here!
Great selection of guitars and staff were friendly. Enjoyed visiting here in my trip to Nashville!
Greg is the best! Great guy and extremely knowledgeable
Unreal the selection of top quality guitars.
Such an amazing place! Extremely helpful and friendly staff besides the amazing selection of vintage and new instruments!
Cool store with amazing selection of guitars from good beginner to collectable. Friendly, helpful staff.
Great service. Great Staff
Gruhn guitars has the best selection of any guitar shop I’ve been in. I purchased a Martin 0000-28 custom and I could not be any happier. Any guitar purchases I make going forward will be from Gruhn guitars for sure. Highly recommend!
Must have got them on a bad day ! Brit living in NW Arkansas we looked a little hot as we had walk 2 miles to get to the shop ! Nether of the staff I said hi to were very friendly didn’t ask if we needed help so off we went 😬🇬🇧🇺🇸 shame as all the reviews look great
Many thanks to Brian for the tour.MR. G, A great addition to the store.
I spoke with Greg about fixing an instrument and he could not have been nicer. He took the time and had patience to answer all of my questions that I had. He was extremely knowledgable. I have visited the store a few times and the staff have always been very welcoming and friendly. The selection of high quality instruments is world class. I highly recommend Gruhns and will continue to do business with them in the future.
Great place to try out high end guitars.
Six-string Mecca. Not a thrift store; full boat retail. Great service; knowledgeable associates.
I called and spoke with Greg in the repair shop about a buzzing noise coming from my Martin HD-35. I thought it could possibly be a loose brace. Though they are too busy to take on general repair work, he told me since I bought the guitar from Gruhn, hed make time for a customer and I should come on by. When I came in, Greg looked thoroughly at all the bracing inside the guitar, which looked great, and after a while he figured out the buzzing was actually just a loose nut and washer on my rear strap button/output jack! Super simple, but in order to get at those pieces you have to unscrew and remove the outer (only visible) piece from that button/jack, so all I did was make sure that outer piece was tight, didnt think to check behind it. Since there was nothing to take care of inside the guitar, there was no charge, and he checked the neck and anything else that may need adjustment in terms of setup while he had the guitar on hand. Fortunately, he said everything looked 100% perfect. I definitely felt like a valued customer on my visit, as I did when I bought the guitar a few years ago.About that visit a few years ago, I forget the gentlemans name (he was tall, haha) [Edit: Yes it was Rob! Thank you, its been a few years], but I told him I was ready to by an acoustic guitar, likely a Martin but I was open to other options, and not only did he pick out several guitars for me to try, but when he took the (my) pre-owned HD-35 off the wall, he noticed immediately it had 12 gauge strings on it, and he preferred 13s for that rich Martin sound. He took a few minutes and put 13s on it for my test drive. And of course, his effort paid off and I bought it. I wasnt a famous Nashville artist or writer, I wasnt shopping in the $10,000 price range, but I felt like he cared that I was in there shopping with him. Id be back a lot more often if I could afford to be!
Fantastic selection. Friendly, professional staff.Visiting the store was a treat, resulting in my first purchase there. My second purchase was basically online with some texting included; that was just as efficient and seamless as being there in person. Very highly recommend!
He changed my life.
Ive visited MANY guitar shops in my life, but Gruhn Guitars will be the highlight of them all. While I was visiting Nashville I asked a local which guitar shop to visit... Gruhn was the place. We walk in the door and immediately I sense the the humidity in the air. GOOD SIGN! That means they take acoustic care serious. We were immediately welcomed by helpful professional staff. The guy with the beard, cant remember his name, was AWESOME. He shows me around and asks me what Id like to see. I told him, Im a Martin guy. Id like to see a pre war Martin. Do you have one I can see? I told the guy I didnt have the money to walk away with one, but its been my dream to play one. He points me to a pre owned wall and lets me be. I see MANY MANY fine guitars, but no pre war guitars. He comes back and ask me how Im doing, and I tell him that his collection is amazing, but no pre war guitars. He looks and me a second and says, Ive got something in the vault Ill bring out and let you play. After being gone 2 minutes he comes out and hands me the real deal. I beauty of a Pre War Martin. And its spectacular. He tells me to sit down and play it. So I do and its butter. OH MY GOSH. He looks actually thrilled to let me experience this moment. I ask him the price and he chuckles and says $100,000. Wowsa. He let my kid play it too. We will never forget the way Gruhn made us feel that day. They have awesome stuff folks. Even stuff I can afford. ;) GO THERE!
I have bought quite a few guitars from these fine folks at Gruhn. Without a doubt this is the best store with the best staff. If I need anything done to one of my beautiful Martin’s Gruhn has the only people I trust to do anything to my guitars. Simply put, they are the best and they sell and service the best period.
I recently sold a very high dollar vintage guitar through Gruhn Guitars in Nasvhille, TN...and I couldnt be happier with the results. After a long time debating to sell this vintage les paul, I decided to start talking with people in the industry...various collectors and vintage guitar dealers across the world. What I found was that with a guitar like this...everyone wants it...and many are not to be trusted. The private collectors were hesitant to buy directly from me.. and rightfully so. There are many counterfeits and no one wants to get burned. Those guitar collectors that were offering to purchase directly from me had very low offers.Ive known Gruhn Guitars since I was a kid and so naturally they were one of the first vintage guitar dealers I spoke to...but certainly not the last. Some cash offer dealers were low balling. Others have a reputation of saying they can sell it for a very high dollar...only to keep lowering the price after they have it in their shop. The range in value estimates I received from guitar dealers and collectors was a difference of $120,000.I kept the people at Gruhn in the loop on my thinking. They were patient with me...answered all my questions. And never changed their opinions just to get the guitar. They were straight shooters the whole way. After a few months of research...I chose to sell my vintage les paul burst through Gruhn Guitars. I did not feel comfortable shipping it. So I bought a plane ticket from California to Nashville to hand deliver it.When I arrived, Joe Spann met me and verified I had a true burst. Then while a tech looked over all the details, I was treated with great hospitality by George. After the tech had a few hours with the guitar, they were able to set a higher price for the guitar than previously estimated. It is worth noting that this all happened through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Though the demand for such a high valued guitar had softened...Gruhn never came to me with an offer lower than the price set. This was a promise I received from them before I ever made a decision to sell through them. They stuck to their word. They sold the guitar for the price set.I ended up netting way more selling through Gruhn than I could have on my own or through most other dealers. And perhaps most importantly...I chose to trust Gruhn Guitars with an incredibly valuable guitar...and they never violated that trust...they have since earned more trust through how they do business.
Great Salesman(Corey), great guitars, great store.
Went there last year. Very friendly staff and incredible instruments for sale. Been to guitar shops in several countries and cities and this is still my favourite!
Trip to Gruhn guitars was an event . Took a 1968 Gibson es335 in for an appraisal . I was with 2 non musician types that couldnt understand why I hauled a guitar all the way from Atlanta and why we had to go across town . I told them this place is totally legit - real rock star types come here . We walk through the door and there is Tommy Shaw from Styx . SEE!!! I told you . Great experience and solid appraisal - THANKS !!!!
Although only open by appointment at this time, an appointment was made.. after traveling from Georgia, we arrive, find the doors unlocked so we walk in and are greeted by the most obnoxious employee wanting to know how we got in the doors were to be locked - not our fault you arent locking them back after each person.. this employee continued to be an a** during our few minutes there, so, we left. Not a good experience!! Let me add that my husband had dealt with George Gruhn many years ago and was looking forward to working with them again. I, however, had never been to this place; so, my first experience was one that Ill not forget and will never go back!
The historical Gruhn Guitar! Thank you for making my guitar purchase feel very special!
Outstanding. FRIENDLY. Great guitar selection.
Been there a couple times note to self if you see a guitar you like you better buy it because it was so quick LOL
Cory was patient and very helpful when helping me find an electric guitar! He was extremely helpful but still gave me space to try out different guitars on my own. Couldnt be happier!
Love Gruhn! Every time I come into town I have to stop here! Wonderful selection to browse and play around with. Such great staff, so accommodating, friendly, and generous.
I cant praise the shop enough. I went in yesterday with the intent of buying a keeper. I played many Martins (10) and settled on a D18 sinker and wow what an axe! What was even better was the hospitality and total experience at Gruhn. Joe and Rob were outstanding. They answered all my questions, suggested things and just are overall great guys! It has always been my dream to buy a top notch guitar from Gruhn and I m so glad I was able to finally make that happen. They carry nothing but quality items and I wont buy another guitar from anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and come on down, you won t regret it!
They are the iconic Nashville guitar store and yet still make novices feel comfortable and welcome. They have a world class inventory of vintage and new instruments including some that would interest the most discerning collectors. If you cant make it in, order online and they ship anywhere, otherwise make an appointment (during COVID) and go check it out!
Great selection and helpful staff.
Employees are going to ruin this business. Very rude and act like you’re a pest for wanting to come into the store. I wasn’t taken seriously, because I’m younger (20) and the employee was very obvious he did not want to deal with me. Very unprofessional. Looking at it now, there are several reviews of people describing similar experiences that I had and I am glad that I’m taking my business elsewhere.
I have been shopping at Gruhn since it was on lower Broadway and have purchased a few guitars from them in the past. A friend and I made an appointment to check out some guitars. I arrived with every intention of buying a Martin D-18. The staff was cold and seemed inconvenienced by my presence so I took my money elsewhere. Gruhns has somehow changed from a depository of vintage instruments to a Guitar Center. I guess All Things Must Pass
My friends and I came there from out of town in hopes of purchasing a guitar or speaking to someone about some tips on finding a higher end, custom guitar. However, the two guys working there were absolutely passive aggressive and rude, and seemed to not take us seriously since we appeared to be “kids”. That’s what it seemed like, at least. My friend and I are 18, and our bassist is 17. We were hoping to find a cool shop in nashville, “Music city”, that would have some nice workers willing to help out and give us some connections. If you are looking for a shop with a surprisingly small electric guitar section and terrible service, look no further. However, the acoustic guitars were great. That’s the one star.
I went into Gruhn Guitars on Saturday to see about getting some work done to my Gibson es-335. Upon walking in a fellow at the customer side of the counter asked What do ya have there? I opened the case & showed him.He looked at me & said Today is your lucky day! follow me We went upstairs to the repair shop. On the way he introduced himself as Greg. He then found an open bench and showed me everything he was doing. Explaining it all so well that I now know how to do my own . He even cut the nut properly so that it not only tunes better but stays in tune better! My guitar plays like a dream now! And he didnt charge me anything! Thats right FREE! I couldnt have been happier! Thanks again Greg!
Had an appointment with gruhns for instrument appraisal. Drove up from ga. Arrived at my appointment time and walked in. Immediately jumped by a rude employee questioning how I got in. He tells me the door is to remain locked. I am not responsible for locking the door. Very rude, kept talking over me. Did not wipe down my instruments like it said on the website. Did not do the Temperaturte scan like the website says. I tried to be polite, but he acted like I was inconveniencing him. One bad apple. I walked out and took my business with me. FOLLOW UP. While I am still offended by the way I and my wife were treated. Eric the GM contacted me and gave me his cell number. We had a good conversation and he made the effort to show he was unhappy that I had a bad experience. He asked me more than once to offer his apologies to my wife and myself. He was humble and a gentleman. He made me feel better about the situation and I know he was genuine. He was a class act.
The service I received at Gruhns last week was second to none! I came in to buy some strings and hope that someone would talk to me about how to string my mandolin without breaking the strings (it had just happened twice). The service manager was kind enough to teach me how, let me video tape him doing it, and he strung and serviced my Collings! I am so glad I chose to buy my mandolin at Gruhn. First class instruments and first class service!!
We had a great experience at visiting and buying a vintage Fender Stratocaster at Gruhn Guitars. The staff (Corey was taking care of me) was extremely friendly and helpful. Inquiring about a guitar and reserving it for a month until I could come by to try it out was very smooth and not complicated at all. Corey even arranged us to meet George in person and got our book signed by him! Taken together, if you love guitars/basses/mandolins/banjos etc. you must visit this place.
Since I cant leave another Google review, I am borrowing my friends phone! I cannot begin to express my love of Gruhn Guitars! The people are some of the most incredible you will ever meet! They are kind knowledgeable and always have a smile on their face (even under the masks) every one has great dispositions! In my opinion, you will not find anyone more knowledgeable than these guys trust me on that! There are years of history throughout this building and every item has a story! Its always the highlight of my trip to Nashville! This is a favorite among all guitar players and well me and all I do is set up drums lol! Stop by you will not be disappointed! Grab yourself some gear and a new Gruhn t-shirt. Pictures cant do them justice! The trippy accidental black light design is incredible! Thank you so much for everything! It was a pleasure being shown around! I cant wait for my next visit and with any good luck hear more stories next time! I absolutely love this place! You guys are amazing
If you looking for the most variety of acoustic. Archtop. Electric & non-electric (always an old Deangelico), banjos, electric 6 string, bass guitars and vintage guitar & dass amplifiers, this is the place. Mr. Grunt advise me that the price offer was $500 less that identical one sold. That was good enough explanation and I got a 2007 Gibson electric reverse Flying V. The look and sound is awesome. Thank You Gruhn GUITARS.
