Very cool record store. Historic place where many celebrities have visited over the years (including Elvis). Great staff. They can order any type of music that your are looking for.
Went to taping of Midnight Jamboree. Jeff Bates, guest host. Wonderful.
Great place to get any country album you can think of
I was there over this past weekend on a very busy Saturday night. The man working the store had so much knowledge and answered all of our questions! Walked in the store many time but this time having see the Loretta Lynn stage area and the man telling us all the history was the best visit by far. Thanks again will definitely be back!
This place is a neat step back in time. Definitely glad we stopped in. Besides the records for sale there is lots of memorabilia and old photos. There were womens gowns and a large statue of tubbs for a photo opp. Also a nice retreat for those looking for a quiet retreat off Broadway to have a moment to remember the old days. We are not particularly country music fans but this was a fun stop.
Excellent shop! Just stopped in to pick up a copy of Turtle Pleasure and I couldnt be more pleased!
Awesome store with a lot of history to it. A must see.
Another life time wish was filled going there, so much history there, loved it. The girls there were very nice.
Certainly a historic part of the Honky Tonk highway and downtown Nashville, but a slightly dissapointing inventory. Not nearly as many LPs as I had expected, seemed to be more CDs than anything; however, its certainly worth a visit.
Awesome historic site with a lot of history while also carrying some new record printings that span the genres alongside the legendary country and bluegrass collection. Beyond the records, there are plenty of CDs, DVDs, and more memorabilia to take home with you to remember your visit or celebrate your hometown heritage in Music City. Great prices and staff too.
Great country music history but I wouldnt classify it as a record shop.... Very little selection. Dont waste your money on parking!
Nice record shop. I do have to agree with someone else on its more of a tourist shop mostly for country. Which in Nashville should honestly be expected. All in all Ill continue to get some records from here.
Its like a museum that sells vinyl, thanks for the history!!
Full disclosure: Not a country fan. Felt more like a tourist gift shop for country artists than a record shop. No variety. Definitely not what we were looking for. 🤷♀️
Fun for EVERYONE! No matter your era of music you can typically find it here. The store stays up to date and never sacrifices it’s history. As on of the signed states in the shop this is hallowed ground and it truly is. Loretta’s addition to the shop is a perfect fit and you look find great Loretta Lynn merchandise. Also you’ll never know who’ll be there, last visit completely planned on my part got to meet Randy Travis and his lovely wife Mary.PRO TIP: Any purchased merchandise get it stamped makes great one of a kind gifts 🎁 especially books.
If you are a fan of old school country music, especially Loretta Lynn, this place is a must stop. It has the actual floor and stage that Loretta Lynn performed on. There is also quite the shrine to her. Its a quaint place on Broadway in downtown Nashville full of memorabilia and pictures of all of the old country music stars. Overall an interesting place to stop in. For reference I am not an old school country music or Loretta Lynn fan. My wife however is a Loretta Lynn super fan.
A lot of history. If ur a country fan this place is a must. Photos, album covers, paintings on the walls. Dont miss this one. Pushing 5 stars with the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great history ... Opry after parties were held there back.in the day. All of the legends played on a small stage at Ernest Tubbs record shop ... Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Elvis Presley, Loretta Lynn. Even the contemporary stars played there in this small store ... Garth Brooks, Allan Jackson and more. Got a great synopsis of the history from a retired history teacher who works there part-time.
This is a great shop. Music is available for sale in the front (vinyl, 45s, tapes, cds etc) as well as other novelty items. The back of the store is a beautiful collection of costumes and instruments, practically a museum. I highly recommend anyone visiting Nashville at least pop into this historic place
I liked everything there, its so cool to see all the pictures of singers and stars. I would give it 5 stars but the customer service is really terrible. I was about to pay for what I have purchased and I asked the lady about the price again just to double check but she yanked my hand from the card reader trying to stop the transaction because she thought I didnt want the items I was purchasing. I looked at her and didnt want to make it a big deal at that time just because she was an old lady, if she was just younger or like my age I would definitely handle it in a different way. So terrible to have someone like that to work there in such a place. Although I recommend people to visit the place but just a warning of the poor customer service and impolite old lady that works there.
The history of this place is amazing. Go in and look around friendly staff. We go in each time we come to town even when we are not purchasing any music.Tip : Go to the very back of the store and look at the original stage.
Nice selection of older and new records. Lots of memorabilia but the prices are too high on the records. Over all, it’s an awesome little spot with music, memorabilia, books and posters. Great selection of souvenirs!
Nice record and souvenir shop in the middle of music row. There is memorabilia of musicians and displays of famous musicians as well. Worth a visit to find a nice souvenir of your trip.
Amazing memorabilia
Nice music store. They carry plenty of rare and uncommon albums, be they vinyl, CDs or DVDs. They also have a little selection of souvenirs and also of few pieces of country music history siege in a small gallery display in the back. Lots of hidden gems to be found here.
My husband and I were in Nashville today. We met Terry and found a friend! He was so knowledgeable and kind. The store is packed with so much history! He took time to tell us about the history of the Ernest Tubb record store. He talked to us about the country music stars (and other stars) that have performed and just shopped in the store. What a beautiful human he is and what a wonderful piece of history we found today! Do yourself a favor and go, but be sure to ask for Terry!!
Nostalgia galore! Love the old pictures. The clerk was very knowledge about the buildings history!
Cool, wish it had a more diverse music selection
Nice collection of older country music. Great collection of historical celebrity photos who performed at Tubbs over the years. Worth seeing.
Neat that this place is still open, but if you dont like country/bluegrass, youre not going to find much of interest. Still some cool history though.
I just love this place. I visited several times during my holiday and Terry was always so good to talk with, he always made time to chat and obviously loves his work. It will most definitely be on my visit list next year.
Kind of disappointed in this store as I assumed they would have some used records. But its all new stuff, and t-shirts. Catering to the trendy crowd that no doubt wanders up and down this popular area of town. Maybe its unfair to grade it so low, but this felt more like shopping at Best Buy for vinyl than the local record store.
First time visiting Nashville and stopped inside Ernest Tubbs Record Shop and was excited to see the back dedication to the one and only Loretta Lynn. I feel awful for not catching this particular employees name but he explained the significance of the building for all of country music as well as relating scenes from Coal Miners Daughter to where it was filmed in the building. So many vinyl records, CDs and even cassettes can be found here. Its also a great spot to escape to if you get overwhelmed by the chaos that is Broadway 😉
Amazing place, with good prices. A lot to see in a small area!! Worth the stop if you like early country/bluegrass music!!
This is the best store for authentic REAL country artists. From the legends, who are the reason for our celebrated musical style, to the current, REAL country artists, the historical aspect and welcoming nature of this store exemplifies what is long past and with this new generation of counterfeit artists and fans, will never be again.P/S If you dont want the real deal, stay the heck away and dont write uninformed and pathetically elementary reviews for something you know absolutely nothing about.
This is a must if youre a country music fan, the place is pretty much the same and full of country history dating back to the late forties and not much has changed except the radio show is no longer broadcasted from the shop. All the old country greats from the likes of Hank Williams Sr. George Jones, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn and more have played here. A true slice of Americana!
A really AWESOME site for country music history!!! Still wished it could house live performances of Opry Stars! I like the CD collection, even though they are almost an item of the past, glad to see there were records in there as well. Just a really cool place!!
The nostalgia of being where some of the pioneers of modern music performed and gathered in itself is an awesome experience. Souveneirs, music and memorabilia. Much love and appreciation for the owners who keep the store a relic that still survives in the present day.
Im looking for Solomon Gumball. Maybe its in the local section. Im sure they have one of those. Everybodys got one!
This store was listed as permanently closed, but it IS OPEN at least as of December 2017.Awesome store!!! Some vinyl, but mostly CDs. BUT, huge history here. Original location, all wood floor and metal ceiling, and decorated with amazing pictures and posters. Some portraits, some postcards, most signed by the artists! Highly recommend to go and see it.Got some help from a lady who has worked there for 18 years, very knowledgeable, super helpful. The only reason Im giving them only 4 stars is that more vinyl would be good to see.Amazing history, highly recommend going! It
Closed until June due to covid. Rated 1 star not because if the store. But because the hours werent updated.
A great record store! Record stores are hard to find today. Ernest Tubbs is a must visit for Country music fans.
Great store with lots of finds. Ask ther Clerk about the Stores History, you wont be disappointed.
Oh how I love meeting staff that have been in a store since the beginning (well, almost the beginning). They were so nice and explained the history of Ernests radio show after the Opry signed off. It was really cool to see the stage in the back of the store and all the wonderful classic vinyl mixed with new vinyl being produced by current artists!
Cool shop, lots of music to pick, has some cool history stuff inside
The history is dripping in this place and you can get some great albums!
Since you find the store in every Nashville guide, I had high expectations. Its actually a normal record store focusing mostly on somewhat old country. And there werent as many vinyl as I expected. They also sell some accessories, goodies and clothes which make for good gifts.
So cool! A must visit if youre in Nashville! They also have tons of souvenirs to buy. The cashier was very friendly!
If you enjoy country or bluegrass music (anything that has been produced in the last 70 years), you can probably find it here. The proprietor was exceptionally knowledgable with the assorted artists; who was in town, would be playing, and where; and able to provide some backstories to the history of the shop and the many photos adorning the walls.
Old school downtown Nashville record shopCant find it - ask. They have an online library and ship to order.Close to release dates many artists do signings there. The place isnt fancy but they have the music and a Loretta Lynn exhibit last time I was in.I make time to stop in when Im in Nashville and always walk out with new music or an old album Ive been looking for. On a good day - both.Open at 10 am so dont be an early bird
Found a lot of great music by new and old artist.
Kinda expected them to have more of a variety. Nice if you like country music I guess
Always stop in when were in Nashville! Lots of CDs from way back to more recent.
Super friendly staff, alot of history inside & many choices of country music available.
Very neat. They sell old records as well as cds and nashvill/Broadway souvenirs.
Cool lots of old memories in this place for country lovers
This is more of a tourist trap than a cool record shop.
This is a very historical place for Good Records a lot of people have really been helped by Ernest Tubb therefore I could never go wrong with the customer service
A required tour stop of Nashville if you know anything about history. Some interesting stuff inside, but overall I was under-awed and disappointed. They should re-focus the store on music again.... setup a VINTAGE vinyl section, but also carry recent, Nashville artists and promote the hell out of them. The ones that cant get promo money...And create a little corner with a nostalgic history movie like the Patsy Cline or Johnny Cash museum. SOMEONE should be telling folks the history!!!
Such friendly clerks and a wonderful selection of records!
Awesome, they have a tribute section to Loretta in the back
AMAZING history, super cool shop!
Looking for well-curated country music collection? Look no further. Lots of artists on CD and vinyl.
I expected more. They have alot of music but would like to have seen other things to buy souvenir wise
An iconic and historic music 🎵 store in the heart of Nashville
Mr. Victor is a gem to Nashville. Stop in and see him for a quick history lesson on the connections for Elvis, Johnny Cash, Mr. Tubb and the Grand Ole Opry....
Great selection of old CDs and very helpful staff
Overrated. Shiny new vinyl records. Pricey. Didnt look for anything else. Must be a store for the yuppies.
If you love the classic country music with the 50s 60s feel. This is your spot. This place is amazing for records, loretta lynn and Ernest Tubbs memorabilia.
Was there in 1976, still looks the same - awesome!
Great little store with a glimpse into true country
Steeped in history everywhere you look.
Calling this place a record shop is basically a lie. There were more CDs than records, and even that selection was sad. Very friendly people and a neat little museum in the back.
Excellent service, rick was a real pleasure. they have several copies of the Solomon Gumball LP as well as Turtle Squirt.
Awesome
Great little shop. Records, cds, tapes, etc.
Cool old store. Could use a few more vinyl bins
If you like history you need to visit
Awesome place worth your time to see it. A Lot of history inside this building.
Great history for us baby boomers
