We wanted breakfast while we were in Nashville and we had been past here so we made it a point to stop in. They were busy, so we had a 15 minute wait. We were seated at the counter and were waited on immediately. The waitresses were very quick, they kept it moving. Our waitress took our order and the food was brought out very quickly. It was delicious. This is a great place to eat! I cant wait to stop here on my next visit.
This has got to be one of the best breakfast spots in downtown. Its a relatively small place with a pretty small menu, but the food is excellent and the service is friendly. The cheese crusted wrap was delicious and very filling. The coffee was good and our waitress kept my cup filled. They even have delicious, small batch ketchup! If youre looking for a low key breakfast spot, you need to give this place a try.
Best place in Nashville to start your day~ Nathan the great was our server this morning and had just the best vibe! Minimal wait if youre eating on your own or in a pair, if a party of 2 or more expect or be okay with sitting apart~ Super fast service, tasty food and coffee, generous portions and good music. 11/10 would go again 💙
Located in the Heart of Music City beside the Johnny Cash Museum on 3rd Street near Broadway. Sun Diner offers southern hospitality and gourmet cuisine day and night. Our specially designed menu compliments the unique interior that celebrates Sun Records’ legendary artists we have recognized for decades. The Creme Brulee French Toast is so good its been outlawed in most states. The service is fast and friendly and they treat their guests like superstars. There is something special cookin in their kitchen, stuff that culinary dreams are made of. Dasmine, one of the staff members came out to greet me. Made my night. This is beyond southern hospitality, its Nashville hot.The Sun Records sound was a fusion of rock & roll and country music (or hillbilly, as it was called in the 50’s) that was labeled rockabilly. The Sun sound was exemplified by early Sun recordings made by Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Take a look at their photo gallery hanging throughout the joint. Legends in every frame.COME ON IN!HOURS:• OPEN ALL WEEK• 7 AM – 3 PM DAILY• 7 AM – 3 PM & 7 PM – 3 AM FRIDAY & SATURDAYReservations are not accepted, but walk-ups are always encouraged. Its a friendly venue with a host team that accommodates all guests in a timely manner. I promise you, theyll find a seat for you.Dont forget to get your souvenirs in the gift shop.
The best chicken n waffles Ive ever had. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!! Sun Diner is upscale wafflehouse. The staff was so kind and funny. The vibes were laid back. Excellent food. Just outstanding. An absolute must if you are in Nashville!
Walked over to the Sun Dinner for breakfast on the last day of our visit to Nashville. Great food, I really enjoyed the french toast. The servers were friendly and efficient. Great place to get a bite to eat. We got right in on a Wednesday at 7:30am, however I saw lines down the block when I went passed later in the day.
Absolutely phenomenal food, and great service. Loved the unique bar arrangement for most of the seating. The Crème Brûlée French Toast was without a doubt the star of the show with our group, but I enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles just as much. Wishing I could take some of the Nashville Hot Chicken Sauce home with me too. So glad I got to go here before leaving Nashville.
Delicious food at a very affordable price, also a very nice staff who go out of their way to give you a great service. Highly recommended!
I wish I could tell you not to come.....so we would always have a seat!!! This place was GREAT. Daphne, Nate and the manager David made sure we had what we needed 😊 Table touches from the whole team and genuine TLC. Thanks DAVID!!! Southern hospitality mixed with GREAT food quality. We sent back empty plates each visit and stuffed our faces with nice portions. Cant wait to come back. We hope you bring this historical SUN RECORDS diner to Tampa Bay!!! Much love from your new florida friends. Thank you for helping to make our 1st trip to Nashville a memorable one. Cheers!!!!
Everything a diner should be. Quick friendly service even while running a full house. Had the cheese and egg wrap and the hash skillet, delicious! Great job everyone, thanks for making our Nashville mornings kick off with a warm and friendly boost!
Its worth the wait. Do you really have to sit with the people you came with? Youll see them all day. Take an empty stool and make some friends. The donut egg sandwich is excellent! Its the only way to almost make a donut healthy. We purchased a sunny yellow mug so we can remember the good times we had and look forward to one day making it back.
If you want great food and great service, you must come here. It is a great diner with wonderful staff and more food then you can eat. WE had over the course of our stay in Nashville the Chicken and Waffles, Breakfast Wrap, Million Dollar Quartet, and Lets do the Twist. All were GREAT and all are large enough to split, (but we didnt :)Highly recommend.
Went with the family for breakfast & it was good. They’re primarily bar style set up so be prepared for a comradely experience with good food for good prices. You don’t have the typical leave your name & wait for em to call. You just come up & fall in line. The atmosphere is welcoming & warm. Worth a trip to grab good food & create good memories.
Cafe for sure! There are 3 larger U shaped counters that are set right off the open kitchen... excellent setup for viewing your food being cooked and excellent wait staff to serve you hot, fresh, and delicious food! The root vegetables were scrumptious with a lite seasoning tossed about. The french twisted toast gave you a perfect reason to try the Tennessee maple syrup... Yum! We had a minute wait before we were seated, but was worth ever second! Love the decor, the staff friendliness, and the FOOD! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very cool place with memorabilia on the walls. The food was good, the price was fair. Only bad thing and reason for 3 stars is the menu is not very big.
Tried the donut breakfast sandwich. 2 homemade sausages & fried egg between donuts. Surprisingly good!! The potatoes were really good also.
I just went to the Sun Diner! I had the Feelin good breakfast burrito. Good food great atmosphere and fun downtown. Lots to see!
Cool little place with good food and interesting decor. I had the chicken and waffles and really enjoyed it. My son had the donut breakfast sandwich and liked it also. The service was excellent as well. Would definitely recommend.
This was my 1st time in Nashville. I came to visit some family my fiancé and I, so we decided to have some brunch before heading back to NC. We picked this little diner the chicken and waffles were pretty good. The chicken had a little bit of spicy to it but it was tasty. Allison our server was very polite and helpful. Great customer service. I would recommend this place if your in the mood for brunch or a quick lunch.
Fast service and great food. I loved the Nashville hot chicken. Great flavor and heat.
Fantastic food. Great staff.Destiny is an outstanding hostess and got customers seated promptly while the place was packed with a small wait.Alison gave ROCK STAR service and catered to our every need.Food came out quickly and tasted absolutely delicious 😋.
Holy smoke stacks. Do not be scared of the line, it moves fast but get in the line. No one is going to hold your hand. The food is everything. From Scratch, huge portions and d.lish.us.
This place is awesome. I had the cinnamon bread French toast with creme brulee sauce. It also had fruit and whipped cream. It was delicious. The hash browns were just okay for 3.95 but everything else was great. There were a lot of photos and memorabilia on the walls. It was very busy on a Saturday morning. I highly recommend this place.
Now thats a breakfast all day restaurant. Went two days in a row because it was soooo good. Always a line but it moves quickly and the most common statement as people are leaving (to the people in line), its worth the wait. It was!
I was searching for a Breakfast Restaurant on my walk toward Broadway on 3rd Ave South and discovered the Sun Diner. This was a very pleasant and enjoyable place for breakfast. Its history is related to the famous Sun Record Label of Rockabilly fame back in the good old early days of Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis, ..... Plenty of celebrity pictures speckled the walls. I had the Pick Three Omelette with sausage, mushrooms, and onions. So very good! I added some tasty home fries just to increase my caloric intake. They were very good. I would go back anytime. 😋
Loved it!! While the noise outside was obnoxious the diner inside was calm cool and felt like the perfect hideaway from all the tourists walking around. The food was on point if you’re looking for dinner food. I had the Breakfast Sandwich for $10.95 but I swapped out the salmon for bacon and it was amazing!! They really loaded the sandwich with perfect crispy bacon. The staff was so sweet, friendly and helpful at making good suggestions. I love when the staff knows how to interact with their customers. I wish I could come here all the time but I don’t live here.
Amazing food. Would definitely recommend. Creme Brulee French Toast was the BEST!!! Friendly Staff and great service 🤠
The place was great. It has multiple flat screen TVs, a wall with photos of Country musics past and a gift shop. Also, the food was delicious.
Yum. Everyone, in my party, loved there food. Service is good too.
You can’t go wrong here.Quick, hot and good.
Nestled next to the Johnny Cash Museum, they had the BEST chicken and waffles I could have asked for after driving from North Carolina. The coffee was amazing, flavorful, and exactly what diner coffee should be.
We loved every minute of it there. The staff was friendly. We had to wait but it was so worth!! Food is amazing. Couldnt recommend this place enough. We loved it. Best food weve had when we were here. Even topped the bbq
The breakfast was really good. The eggs were tasty and the potatoes were cooked to perfection, slightly crispy and crunchy on the outside and seasoned well. Armeshia took great care of us. She took the order without writing anything down and got every detail right.
Expensive but worth it due to location, excellent food and friendly, welcoming service
AAAAAAAAAMAZING waitstaff and food. Visited this diner every day and tried multiple different things while in Nashville and was never disappointed. Also, the staff was the most friendly and fun that we experienced here. We laughed and had fun the entire time we were in the diner. They even remembered names and what we wanted. GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!!!
Food is amazing! Service is very bad! Nathan eas rude all the time! Not worth ir!
Bananas FosterMy husband and I dropped in a for a sweet treat on a Friday afternoon and ordered the pancakes topped with Bananas Foster and we sat at the counter and watched as our pancakes and bananas were cooked to order. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the Bananas Foster topping was delicious!!
Great little diner. Food was delish and service 5 star.
One of the best ways to start your day in nashville, be prepared to wait it’s small and busy but we’ll worth the time. Get the tacos use the green sauce thank me later
Big portion but very good to eat wonderful customer service would recommend to anyone as a must eat place
I said it was an upscale waffle house. Breakfast tacos were tasty.
This place has some of the best wings in town. And there steak is up there too. Get there before it gets busy later in the night. Youll thank me later. Always good!!!
Nice place. Small had a group of 8 had to be separated. Lots a food.
A downtown Nashville classic, or so I heard. Food was good and it was a cool place to go after visiting downtown.
Excellent food and great waiter!! I would definitely go again
Awesome food, great service. Cool atmosphere.
I like to walk around downtown and try new places to eat. Just stumbled into this place and fell in love! The decor is amazing. Never would have thought a restaurant themed after a record company would be great but it is. I had the chicken and waffles with the sausage gravy on the side —- wow!!! It was really great food. Will be going back to try the donut breakfast sandwich.
It was the best breakfast experience I e ever had ! Nathan was the most entertaining and accommodating server ! Thank you thank you !!!
Our party of 2 adults & 1 child had a fantastic breakfast here to begin our vacation. the food was excellent & reasonably priced. it arrived quicker than expected & the hospitality was full of smiles & good spirits. highly satisfied!
My new favorite place! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the staff go above & beyond. When I went I had Amanda as a server—she was very sweet & welcoming! We will definitely frequent this location now!
Good was great! The staff was so fun and friendly.
We were so excited to come here- but when we arrived, the door was locked. No exanation, people inside, but a locked door. Multiple groups also tried to use the door and were upset after discovering it was locked. If there was an emergency, that happens, just put some sort of sign on the door, even if its just a hand written note!
Waiter told the group next to us to F-Off and never come back because they complained about waiting 1.5 hrs for their food. We left without ordering after seeing that, and watched the waiter stare the group in the eyes through the window as he shortly after dumped their ready food into the trash. Weird experience.
Stopped by this place on a busy Saturday and it was such a hidden gem. The breakfast sandwich with salmon was delicious! Unfortunately the short rib hash was underwhelming and didn’t match how great it sounded on the menu. I did like the open seating and the ladies provided awesome service so I will definitely return.
