This school is Amazing!!!! The Director, Ashley, and all of her staff go above & beyond to teach you what you need to know in the Artistry of Makeup. Once you graduate, you are still family and they continue to help graduates succeed in their career as an artist. I definitely do not regret attending this school and hope to one day be able to pass on my teachings to future students. Thank you all for my success in this business.

Love this place. It is so much fun! Faith is an absolute genius. She transformed me into the Jack Nicholson Joker character for a Halloween party and none of my friends could believe how she did it! I cant wait to go back

Excellent and positive school. Just what I needed to launch my career when I first got started in the makeup industry. I worked a 6 month non paid internship which paid for my tuition. NO REGRETS! I am very thankful for the opportunity to have gone to this great school. Alumni 2011

Great educational environment for the artist looking to achieve their goal of entering the world of Special Effects Make up, Beauty Make up, Wig construction and other specialized hair work. Knowledgeable and friendly instructors with years of experience in these specialized fields.

I cannot say enough about my experience at AMUA! This school is small but mighty! I appreciate the staff going above and beyond for the students most of all! The staff is phenomenal. They are cranking out some top quality artists for the industry!

I recently attended AMUA for their Advanced Makeup Artist Program. Ashley, the director, has outdone herself by putting together a team of experienced, talented, and caring teachers that go above and beyond to make sure each students needs are met. I felt fully supported through the entirety of the program, and am now confident in my ability to pursue a career in this field. If youre looking for a close-knit community of people that will encourage and push you while you learn your craft (and after you graduate), look no further. AMUA is the best!

Their Freelance program is jam packed with everything you need to be an MUA. Eight quick weeks and an affordable cost. The instructors and administrators are all wonderful and experts at their field. The kit provided is top quality. When you leave AMUA you are ready to start a career.

I really wanted to go to this school. I applied the 100$ fee and sent in my information. There was a few problems sending my art portfolio. I contacted them about it and NEVER heard back. Not one person called or emailed me concerning the trouble I was having trying to enroll. They basically took my 100$ for nothing in return.

I attended the Academy of Makeup Arts January 2018- March 2018 for the Advanced Makeup Program with my Post 9/11 GI Bill. Ashley (founder) was amazing and made herself available at all times. The staff became family over the course. I will be attending the SFX course in August and can not wait to come back. Any course you take you will not be disappointed. The staff fully prepares you to be a professional and have a stable career. If you do everything suggested and truly apply yourself you will grow tremendously. I am forever grateful for my education provided by AMUA. Don’t think on it, just do it! The school is growing and on its way to much more success. It’s time now to be a part of it! Thank you AMUA!

This school is a scam. You don’t get the hours promised because half of the time your eyes are closed while someone else does your makeup. The business portion is short and not in depth. They don’t help you get started. Other than the foundation, the kit is mediocre. You don’t get any MUA discounts afterwards like the MAC Pro discount that you’re promised assistance with attaining. As you’re learning you take your own pictures with your own equipment in crappy lighting. So they couldn’t invest in a decent ring light and backdrop to help build student portfolios in class. The director is rude and several people in my class had regrets and felt bullied by her. I felt bullied into the program. The only positive is the teacher, he was brilliant. Save your money and take a master class on instagram.

I graduated 5 months ago from AMUA for the Advanced program with Kevin and Ben. Kathleen was our guest instructor too and I enjoyed learning from a fellow student who has been there and done it as well. I am so amazed at what I learned. I have grown more as an artist and the confidence I have in my business amazes me. I met so many helpful people in this industry and I am very excited to see how far I can drive my career to newer and more amazing experiences. I appreciated the opportunity I had to learn things from the school and the continuous support they offer us after graduation. I am happy to be a proud part of the AMUA Nashville Alumni.

This place is amazing! I did the freelance program because I was working full time when I attended. Its a life changer. I was a musician struggling to survive and going through some dark times, when I decided (with some pushing from family and friends) to pursue a career in Makeup Artistry. If it wasnt for the support and encouragement from Ashley and Erica, I dont know what I would have done. Yes its a bit pricey, but to put things into perspective, my degree costs more and got me nowhere. Since I attended, Ive been fortunate enough to work on a musicians cd cover, attend extra classes with an amazing base knowledge, Ive gone on to get my license in esthetics and Im certified in lash extensions... All because AMUA encourages and supports their students and alumni. If you think the program is too much, think about what your future is worth. Then you decided. Nothing in life is handed to you, and in this industry... Its all about pushing yourself

I loved everything about this school, (I took the Advanced Program) Ashley and Kevin really care about their students and make sure to teach us all they know to get us out into the makeup working world. (Both such talented artists) I learned so much and appreciate everything I was taught, they go to even more lengths to make sure we are prepared and know how to get work, find work, build our own website, etc. You leave the school feeling fully prepared and confident to get out there. (Most cosmology/makeup schools dont do that) It was one of the best decisions I could have made to further my career and pursue my artistic talent. AMUA still offers classes even after you graduate for alumni and you can always take refresh classes with Ashley. AMUA isnt just a school, its a family. Everyone helps each other out even after graduating. I know I could go there for anything, and that to me is worth every penny.

Very disappointed in the tuition programs that are available. Im not in the military so i cant qualify for that, as well as i dont have 9 grand readily available to pay down. It is greatly disappointing to know that i cannot use any kind of financial aid to go to this school which is the only one around me that teaches the program i need to take.

Do not go to this school it is the biggest scam you cant do makeup without a cosmetology, esthetician or barbering license. Dont do this go to some type of esthetician school instead. Also the director is rude. lets address the owners response. For the record I got my information from the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology.

I am so fortunate to be able to include The Academy of Makeup Arts in my journey to becoming a successful makeup artist! Although I still have a lot of work ahead of me, the AMUA provided me with the skills and confidence to pursue that I never thought imaginable. Since completing my program February 2011, I have had the opportunity to work on ad campaigns, music videos, reality t.v. shows, live events, and much more. And I can also truly appreciate the way Ashley leaves her door open looong after graduation for us alumni. So if anyone is considering a real career in the industry, Id suggest they start at The AMUA.
