It took awhile, but I was able to try the infamous sambusa at a local craft festival around the area. The beef sambusa was piping hot on the inside with a lot of turmeric and cumin. The pastry surround it is extremely flaky and soft (almost like a croissant).Their sambusa of the day was a Philly cheesesteak. This was also surprisingly good despite me being highly skeptical. While I don’t think it reminded me of a real Philly, beef and cheese wrapped in a fried exterior is always going to be good.No pictures of the food were taken because we forgot!
CERTIFIED HIDDEN GEM!! The Horn has been a great addition to Murfreesboro Pike, serving light Somali fare and coffee. Its ran by a beautiful family that has been blessing Nashville with Somali food for a long time. I highly recommend getting their sambusas, featured in this pic. They are triangular pockets of deliciousness stuffed with a filling and fried 😋Its located about 5-10 minutes from downtown (depends on traffic) on Murfreesboro pike. Its always very clean there, and the family is super friendly. Not to mention, the food and coffee is extremely affordable. Honestly, I think they should charge more! Other coffee shops easily charge double for what they offer here. This might not be your hipsters favorite spot to write a novel, but its a great place to catch up with a friend over great food and coffee.
Fantastic and thoughtful food and desserts. I do wish they put forth the same effort for their espresso. Don’t expect a craft coffee program. A barista who knows what a proper cappuccino is will not ask whether you want a 12, 16 or 20 oz. it’s the type of place where whether you ask for a cap, a latte or a cortado, they will still ask what size you want. It will be too hot, and the milk thin, with a bit of foam floating on the top. If you like coffee, just get the drip, it’s good. I asked to exchange the $4 cappuccino I got for coffee and the barista (who is always nice) took care of me. I will still be coming back to the Horn.
Some of the best people in Nashville, and definitely the best coffee. Get a Somali chai & some sambusas for half the price of a cake pop at Starbucks and never look back.
Great sambusa... Glad they were at the craft show.
We stopped here randomly on our way out of Nashville and I’m so glad we did! The chai and mocha were some of the best drinks we’ve ever had. And the food was delicious!
Absolutely loved this place the food is So good the coffee was excellent the people really friendly.
Wow. This place has delicious food and Chai. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.
It was a very good experience everyones nice very good feeling when you go inside very good customer service
The sambusas are incredible! Perfect crispness on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. Absolutely delicious - I recommend the beef! I also got a dirty chai which was amazing and great value.
Amazing coffee and food. Great place
Friendly staff. I ordered Somalian Chai Tea and it is unbelievable. Free wifi and quiet and comfortable to enjoy your stay.
The veggie sambusas are bomb, especially with the mango sauce!
They were super nice. It was my first time in and I didn’t know what I was ordering, but they were kind and polite and I appreciated that
Good Coffee and the Sambusas taste really good. Nice local coffee shop and staff is friendly!
We were visiting and chose this over a chain coffee shop and man are we glad we did! The owner, I believe his name is Hassan (hopefully I spelled it right) is extremely kind and generous. He gave us a sample of the chai and it’s the best chai I’ve ever tasted. The coffee and food is also unique and top notch. Do yourself a favor and give it a try!
Great coffee and lots of outlets if you need a place to work from your laptop. The staff is really friendly and happy to tell you about their Somali food if youre trying it for the first time (the sambusas are fantastic).
The sambusas here are some of the best things I’ve ever had. Wonderful coffee too!
The best Chai is Nashville. You have to get their sambusas. The staff is incredibly friendly and they never disappoint.
Good coffee although the cashier charged me for a latte initially after ordering a machiatto. I made a quisical face showing my displeasure and he changed the price. Not ideal.
Fantastic! Highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💚
I love this place. Ive been coming here for about 2 yrs now, and the staff is always really nice. I love the Somali chai. You can get drinks, pastry type things, or a meal here, or sit and use the wifi with your cup of coffee. Its close to downtown, but not IN downtown if you want to avoid the tourist crowd.
This is not just a coffee shop. It serves African food and its freaking delicious!!! We are from NJ and was just looking for coffee. When we walked in, I read the menu and decided to try beef sambusa...OMG!After trying it, I purchased a few beef and chicken sambusa, nafaqo and mandazi to bring home to my family and guests. They ❤ it too! This is definitely a local hidden gem 💎
Great coffee and pastry shop. Good place if you need a space to work. Friendly service.
Great coffee and vibes 🤙
Really good pastries and authentic food, great service and atmosphere. Recommended!
Great place! Featured front page of Native Magazine, which should say a lot. You’re missing out if you don’t come here. Great family, great food, great atmosphere!!
Sambusas are game changing breakfast foods. Everyone was rather pleasant to chat with too.
This is not an SCA shop, so I’ll set expectations for specialty coffee but what elevates this experience is the service from Hassan and the Somali foods available. I’ve had many Ethiopian Sambusas which are very comparable but the beef or chicken sambusa with a latte, drip and good company made this a unique experience and one that will find me returning anytime I’m in Nashville. The chai was also very reminiscent of a masala chai that we’d get in the Wake Forrest building in uptown Charlotte. Unfortunately no pictures but definitely a great place to meet up or even study.
Great food, friendly service, local business...I love this place and miss it frequently since I moved away.
Chai is incredible quality but this Chicken sambusa is the truth. Can’t wait to come back and have another. Sauce is spicy but delicious as well.
Cool little spot for East African coffee. I always just ask for the Ethiopian and its fabulous. the sitting room is usually empty because it seems like most of the regular customers are cab drivers and not screenplay writers. good quiet spot for a AA meeting or to chill while your relatives are being processed in the police station across the street.
We met the owner on our visit, Hasan. He was very friendly. The store was clean and comfortable to be in. Since it was our first visit he gave us a sample of the Chai without even asking. My mom ordered the Mocha and raved about it. I had a black Americano and it was a strong flavor but not bitter. We also bought the Simbasa (I think), they are seasoned wrapped meat and vegetable wraps and they were so good. The spicy mango sauce that came with it made it even better. We were going back home from our vacation in Florida and I can confidently say it was the tastiest food, the best coffee, and very affordable. Hasan also said everything was organic if that matters to you.
The Horn makes a strong chai tea, and the sambusas are savory and delicious.
Sweet bread is wonderful! Not to sweet. Chai was delicious on a chilly day!
Sambusas are amazing!
My favorite coffee and chai shop in Nashville. Beef sambusa is awesome.
Very cute and quiet space, wonderful pastries
Best Chai cafe
Literally the thought of this place makes my heart warm. The coffee is delicious. The food is delicious. I just moved to Nashville so finding a place this welcoming right off the bat has made moving so much easier. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming that its like cheap therapy. Its so easy to feel disconnected and they do a really good job at making sure people remember that people exist and are important. The price is very good. Parking can get full sometimes, but not terrible. I would definitely recommend this place and have several times already. I would definitely visit again as I have several times.
This is the second time that I´m here. The first time was just a strike of luck, this coffee place was in my way to work. The black regular coffee was great and the croissant was good too. But today I came to work here and let me tell you that the Somali Chai is one of the best chais I have ever had. It is delicious!!! also I have a doughnut great too.
Family owned coffee house with friendly ambiance. Their sambusas and the sauces were great!
Such a cute coffee shop 💛
Perfect environment, man at the counter has an exceptional attitude, the food is unique and well seasoned.
Cool shopGreat pastries
Really good stout coffee
Good chai made by good people
I visited the shop for the first time this week and have been back every day since. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the coffee is phenomenal. Get the iced coffee.
Exceptional place to get coffee 👍🏼
Great coffee, even their basic coffee! and flavorful meat/chicken pies.
Not a huge coffee fan, but I needed caffeine and something to cool off with. I tried the iced cinnamon mocha and was blown away. Great service and a really cool shop all around.
The guys are very friendly and the Somali chai with steamed milk is awesome!
Beef sambusa and standard black coffee were amazing. love the vibe, quick and inviting service. looking to support local businesses? look no further. priced less than starbucks for a better product. to the owners (if any) see this - keep being amazing, nashville really needs a place like yours.
This place is one of my happy places. The sambusas and malawax (crêpes) are delicious. Get that semi-spicy with your sambusas. The Somali chai is addictive, its smooth and has the right amount of sweetness.Id be there every day if I could, seriously. The service is amazing as well; such kind and friendly people.Theres plenty of parking.Go try it. It may become your happy place as well. ;)
I stopped in for the first time today and got a mocha iced coffee which was delicious. I decided to branch out and try a beef sambusa. Let me tell you that the flavor in these amazing treats have got me craving more hours later. This will become a regular spot for me since its around the corner from my office! So happy I stopped in today!
I was looking for an alternative to Starbucks on my way out of town. Coffee is kicking! Nice space. Friendly staff. Im glad I stopped in.
Amazing coffee shop! Wish I lived closer to it. Great baked items.
The coffee was delicious! Definitely check them out if you’re in the area.
These guys are amazing, it goes waaaay beyond coffee, this place is the salt of the earth . Plus : great coffee and sambusas.
For the Somali Chai alone this place is obsession worthy! The gents behind the counter are lovely. Hidden gem, Id love for it to stay that way - but these guys truly deserve all the success and positive reviews here!! GO!
I love this place! The gyros are incredible and the coffee is great. Prices are very reasonable and the customer service will keep me coming back every time Im in Nashville!
One of the best places in Nashville for a coffee, Samosas is fresh and done on the premises. Their coffee and Mochas are quite good, featuring a smooth flavor that isnt biting or strong but delicate and rich. Would definitely come again. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere for students and others to work and chat.
Very kind service, I loved the sambusa and Somali chai
Authentic, freshly prepared baked goods and foods as well as amazing coffee and teas.
I was doing business nearby and needed a coffee break. A Google search turned up several nearby shops, including The Horn. I am so glad I chose this shop! The coffee is excellent, the staff is friendly and the pastries are scrumptious! Well worth the stop!
Were from out of town and they were so friendly like weve come here for years! Try the sambusas - they are delicious! Also had a rose water Swiss roll thatll knock your socks off! All topped of with excellent coffee and home made banana bread...😋 Will be back tomorrow for another round!
Amazing food and Somali tea here. Love the vibes and employees. Great place to study!
The Horn Coffee is a great place with a good atmosphere, great service, and wonderful coffee. There is plenty of seating as well. I must stress how kind the customer service is. The only low point I would say is the lack of background music. With that said, this place is amazing and I highly recommend it.
Ahmed was super kind. He even gave me a free pastry (the sambuca is AMAZING). Its an East African coffee shop. Its fantastic that Nashville has this enterprising community here. We all benefit. Love the shop, will frequent the place more often.
Loved this place, I have been interested in East African Culture for sometime, so when I saw this place through the bus window on the way to work, it was instantly on my must do list.Went there this morning, I got some super awesome coffee and an amazing meat snack (Did not know what it was called, had to point it out ). Super friendly Service, I really enjoyed my experience.I did not see a menu, it would help those who are a little less familiar with African Coffee, Tea, Food. I will definitely be coming back. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!Nicky
Way better than just a coffee shop. I didnt even have the coffee! Will definitely go back when in the area.
We visited The Horn Coffee shop based on the excellent reviews. I will have to say the Chi Latte was fantastic! The gentlemen behind the counter, I presume to be the owner, was very helpful with our ordering. I would strongly recommend you visit.
The staff is always so friendly, and I love their veggie sambusas with sauce! My husband has had some of the meat sambusas, which were also good!
My favorite place to grab a weekend snack or pick me up. The staff are so kind. My go to is chai and 2 beef sambusas with extra salsa. So tasty! Similar to a samosa if you’re familiar with Indian food. But filled with the most delicious curried meat and yummy spicy salsa. You won’t be disappointed! They have WiFi as well and a comfortable clean space to hang out. Soooo tasty!
The Horn is absolutely an amazing place to visit for coffee, or my suggestion would be the Somali Chai. Get in on the way to the airport, and dont forget to try the sambusas! Owner and his family are super nice
Great owners and a friendly environment may it be for ur fresh quick to go or sit down requirements, most meals are made fresh to the order ; a great cafe that brings quality and a unique cultural taste that helps to energize u before or after a busy days needs.
Favorite breakfast in town 100/100
Superb coffee in a very quiet atmosphere. Boost for quiet conversation and East African food snacks available.
Wonderful customer service! Well priced! The Somali Chai is amazing, but I would recommend getting it in the medium size as the large size doesnt taste as rich in my experience. The Cinnamon Mocha is also amazing. If you stop at The Horn, you MOST get some sambusas! They are inexpensive and delicious!
Great food and great coffee! 😊
Oh God the best coffee ever and their pastries are amazing. Very very friendly customer service and the place is very inviting. 👍👍👍👍👍
