Seemingly very beautiful place but it is discouraging that the staff offsets that with their demeanor and attitude. The employees are extremely uninviting. All 10 of them standing behind the counter with no smiles prove they do not care to have your business. I do not recommend based solely on the cold dreadful atmosphere.
As a coffee shop owner myself, I am always on the pursuit of the best coffee in each city I visit. Just minutes from downtown, this is worth a visit. Good coffee, good people, and I love the vision of roasting and working in the community. My only complaint was that I still have not been able to go indoors, as they are one of the only places in all of Nashville (and Tennessee for that matter) that would not allow customers indoors. Long after even the federal mandates were dropped.Definitely worth visiting though.
Delicious tea, comfortable seating, and friendly staff. A great find in a new neighborhood! I got the seasonal fall drink, which was delicious and reasonably priced. The coffee shop also supports a fantastic local organization called Harvest Hands which supports community youth. Overall, one of my new favorites! Just wish they were open longer on the weekends!
Great coffee shop. Wouldve given 5 stars except when a Bahamas song came on they skipped to the next song. : /
Went to go get some work done & got the french toast latte. Honestly didn’t taste much like french toast at all, but was good. No nonfat milk, which wasn’t a big deal, but I usually always get lattes with nonfat and thought it’s good to know for folks who also prefer nonfat. Plenty of outlets for getting work done. Seems to be slightly above typical Nashville coffee price range, but also goes to a good cause. Overall enjoyed my time.
Very cool, hip place. I appreciate the artistry of their coffee and tea. The coffee is superb. They use locally roasted blends and bottle their own cold brew. They are eco-focused by providing recycling and compost stations, and they always ask if your order is for here or to-go (to limit the amount of paper waste, I presume). My own criticism is that because the interior has all hardwood and mostly wood furniture in a high-ceiling room, it is a bit loud.
Hands down one of top 3 best roasters in Nashville, and designed with a purpose to support, educate, and employ young adults from this area.I only wish they had a 16 or 20 oz coffee cup option. If you buy a bag you get a free cup of drip! Keep in mind many of the people working here are in training and professionals are working along side them to teach them skills, so be a little patient! They are also super nice. Parking is also easy. Grab a coffee, park your car, and take a lap around the block.
I had a horrible experience here, I came in to the store on a very very hot day to get a drink and go sit out back in their hammocks below the deck. But I was being yelled at and didn’t even get to order my drink because I was passing through the cafe with my Dog. I couldn’t leave him chained to a post outside and alone. The staff here, specifically the manager (Parker), handled the conversation I was trying to have very rudely, inhumanly, and didn’t leave room for me to even talk or ask for water or my drink. I asked if I could order and go outside and he came from around the counter and stood in front of me (too close for comfort by the way) and said no, I would need to leave immediately and leave the dog outside. So I left home because I didn’t feel welcomed, I was talked over, and embarrassed by something I didn’t even have knowledge about when I entered the store. Even as a person that is seeking a bit of refuge with a cold drink on a hot day. For a company that portrays a soft welcoming ambiance for the community, it was definitely unfortunate to be treated this way. It’s also unfortunate that the “students” here have to endure a teaching environment as toxic as this one. I honestly don’t recommend this place to anyone. & if you want to learn to be a barista, may as well go learn at Crema, they may teach better values.
I discovered their coffee at whole foods. But now I go straight to the source to get the freshest roast possible, the other day I was able to obtain some that had been roasted 2 days previously, talk about fresh Columbian coffee and they have a variety of other regional beans available.
Great coffee, great food, great staff! Definitely recommend - well be back
Such a happy and light-filled coffee shop! Super close to multiple areas of town, and has a lot of street parking. I enjoyed the cold brew and will be back to try out the variety of toasts. Staff was friendly and there was a lot of seating inside at tables or couches and then even outside with nice patio furniture.
The shop was full of light on the Saturday morning of our visit. It is an older house, remodeled as an open space room. We appreciated a friendly service. The food, however, didn’t impressed me that much. Croissant tasted at least a day old, the toast was dry with an unimaginative mass of smashed avocado on top. Coffee was ok.
Humphrey’s Street is my favorite! I get all my coffee beans from here. Right now El Salvador is my favorite. I love that they are nonprofit-owned and are putting their assets back into South Nashville communities. In the future, I’d love the option to fill up my reusable canister at the shop rather than purchase a bag every time.
Prompt delivery makes our morning coffee an event! For those who are serious about coffee, look no further! We have tried several of the offerings and can endorse them all! Supporting our local businesses is especially important right now! Humphrey’s Street coffee is a perfect gift for yourself or others.....order online, they will ship, and the receiver will thank you over and over! And....when you click for payment, your funds provide opportunities for youth leadership and empowerment in South Nashville. A win-win!
Coffee was really good. Ordering and curbside pickup was super easy and quick. We will be back there for sure soon!
This is the perfect little spot. The design and aesthetic theyve created is cool and gentle, unlike a lot of bustling coffee spaces. You feel like you can breathe in here. Plus the coffee and snacks are on point! This is where I go when I need to get creative.
Humphreys Street is one of the best in town. The quality of both food and coffee is fantastic, and the atmosphere is so great. It’s a great place to work from, and a great place to meet at for meetings or just good hang times. The location is central for most, and the design is refreshingly open and bright. Combine all of that with the mission and purpose behind the shop and their intentionality in the community, and the easily land in my top 5 favorite shops in town.
First time trying this place today with my friend ! We got two honey lattes and they were delicious . We also tried two of their pastries and they were so good! They were so nice . Definitely recommend this place !
Why send your money to some big corporation when you can buy your coffee at a place with a mission to help kids from tough neighborhoods? That’s where I’d rather my money go! Humphreys is a world-class coffee shop with incredible customer service and amazing atmosphere. I pass four coffee shops on my way there and it’s always worth it. Try it out! You won’t be disappointed.
The staff is always friendly and helpful. The coffee is wonderful. As they roast their own coffee they take pride in every step to create a perfect cup of coffee. In addition, they help countless numbers of youth develop careers in coffee and provide college scholarships to the youth they employ. During the pandemic they have always provided service outside and adhere to all the safety protocols. It is my coffee house of choice in Nashville.
Amazing coffee!! Excited for when their cafe will reopen
Average coffee shop. No thrills to be had. Decent, yet rather templated, atmosphere ... not much on the eating side. Toast was okay, maybe a little too toasted. Pesto was great! Croissants from a Nashville known bakery seemed to be a day old although we were told they were fresh to the day and they were a tad overbaked. I wouldnt totally pass up another visit but probably wouldnt make a special trip either.
Humphreys Street has been my favorite coffee shop ever since it opened. First, the atmosphere is so clean and light and open. Their coffee is amazing and delicious every time, even their flavored lattes, and I’m obsessed with their toast menu. I love that they’re doing their part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by only offering to-go service from a booth outside their front door. Ordering is extremely easy, and every time I go I like knowing that I’m supporting their Harvest Hands charity.
I love the atmosphere and the staff is delightful! I love the croissants and a plain latte. I have a diner mug that I love and have bought several bags of roasted coffee beans over the years before the brick and mortar coffee shop opened. The beans grind well for my drip machine at home and its a lovely place to stop by for a caffeine boost.
Humphreys Street Coffee is an amazing place to read, meet with friends or business colleagues or get work done. The French toast latte with oat milk is delicious as is the avocado toast with an egg. I love coming here and love the impact they have on the community. Drinking coffee here feels like a treat to myself while giving back to the community - what more could you ask for?
My nitro infused cold brew was very bitter and i had to ask for more milk. My husband loved his french toast coffee though
The vibe in here is everything I want. I always feel lighter & brighter walking into Humphreys. I love that they offer tea from High Garden - the milky oolong will challenge everything you thought you knew about tea. Humphreys iced cuban is also a contender for the top of my list! It is *so* good. Humphreys is one of my favorite places to meet up with a friend.
I love this shop, and I love their mission. They help young people develop skills and encourage them to attend college. They also have a beautiful shop. It’s very open and has a lot of natural light. You can get a free refill of your drip coffee which is almost unheard of. Def recommend. This review has seen its ups and downs. It was 5 stars at first, then four after some communication issues. However, the staff was quick to correct and improve their communication after some feedback. For this reason, we’re back to five stars!
The staff is always very friendly and the coffee is so good. My go to place for where I buy all of my coffee beans. Humphreys street also supports the community! What else could you ask for
Humphreys Street is the best coffeeshop in Nashville. Everything on their menu has been carefully thought out and crafted with love.
Horrible place for food. I got the ham and cheese croissant sandwich. First they brought it out it had nothing on it. The second time it was the wrong sandwich. Third time it was still wrong with close to no ham, zero cheese and had pesto which I had asked not to include because Im deathly allergic. Wasted $13 and had to throw it away.
Amazing pastries. Seriously...cheese danish is outrageous. Cold brew was delicious. Customer service is great. Neat building, neat people, neat business.
Absolutely love this place. Great mission and fantastic coffee. Their espresso tonic is super clever — definitely drop by!
Humphrey’s Street Coffee Shop is a fun way to finish off a morning of running, errands, or business. Not only is the coffee exceptional, but the pastries are out of this world In fact Iam planning to take my fiends for coffee and chocolate croissants next week, can’t wait.
This is a coffee shop with a heart and mind for the community. They take of their people, donate into the community, and many of their employees were once at risk youths who benefited from their kids programs. It’s a beautiful thing. They helped change the landscape of we-ho which we all should be grateful for.Oh and by the way their coffee is absolutely delicious. Their flat white is without comparison. I also use their soaps which aren’t harsh and have a great smell!
Humphrey’s is such a great place for coffee, but even more so their staff is so friendly and their mission is even greater. I love going here and I love that they’re just a few minutes from my house!
Favorite coffee shop in town. Its great to have a place in Nashville that cares about their community and believes in it, and has a great product also. Favorite spot for finding gifts for family, and afternoon coffee needs.
Humphreys Street consistently provides high quality coffee and a wonderful atmosphere that is equally welcoming to socializers and remote workers. I like to spend half days here nibbling on the pastries and cookies, washing them down with a house-made cold brew or an espresso tonic. I also firmly believe in the Humphreys Street mission to give opportunities to teenagers who might not otherwise have them.Even during Covid, HS has provided high quality pickup service, and Ive made recent orders of coffee drinks and whole beans to enjoy in a park or at home.Recommend highly. Give them some love, support local, and help keep this neighborhood business alive during this season.
Met here for a meeting, enjoyed the cozy vibe. I had a regular latte, nothing fancy - it was just good coffee. Lots of different seating options. I will definitely be back because this is my ideal kind of coffeeshop - it doesnt take itself too seriously, is in a convenient location for people coming from different places, and serves great coffee. Done.
Great little neighborhood coffee spot. They have the perfect coffee shop atmosphere that allows good conversation or productivity that I look for!
Great coffee shop! The atmosphere is special - friendly and professional staff - and the coffee is over the top great!
Wonderful coffee and wonderful people! This staff is always incredible helpful and kind- never a bad experience!
This is my favorite coffee shop!! Love everything about humphreys Street. Especially their matchas!
Excellent brew, excellent toast. The vibe is comfortable and calm. Sipping coffee in a renovated historic home with lots of natural light, couldnt ask for a more relaxing morning.
This shop has a really relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. It makes you feel at home and has a nice open floor plan. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor. The coffee is very good, and the workers are friendly. It is also so not super well known so there isnt normally a huge line.
After visiting over 100 3rd wave coffee shops in the US, I believe this is one that tops almost all of them. They are unique, very clean, and have an incredible program for local high school students. The coffee is also great, and conversations with the employees make it a very enjoyable space.Great service, great seating, and great cold brew. Anything on espresso will be great too.
Cool spot! Its actually a lot bigger than expected on the inside. Has a nice back patio to sit as well. Service was good as well. Had their iced mocha and it was pretty great, but not the best in the lands. Their ham and cheese croissant was enjoyable as well. Will be returning to try their cold brews and other coffee as well!
Humphreys...fabulous coffee, fabulous baristas, wonderful mission for what they are doing AND I love the soap they sell to benefit others!!! You got it right Humphreys 🎉🎉
Our drinks (cold brew and espresso tonic) were great. The staff was relatively friendly and the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. It only gets knocked for not being parent friendly (no high chairs or changing stations) and for being a bit loud, which is an unfortunate byproduct of the large open concept of the interior. We enjoyed it a lot and recommend it!
Beautiful building, great service and good coffee. Worthy mission. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed with people working, studying etc.
Great staff, delicious food, local coffee!
Humphrey Street Coffee has rocketed to near the top of my favorite coffee shops. I know theyve been roasting for a while, but only when they opened a full-time shop did I make it over. This is the real deal. There are four coffee places within a few blocks of each other, and although they sell fine coffee, I never cared for the vibe or the ethos of the others. But Humphreys is outstanding in the same way the The Well is. They not only provide a good product, but they use it for a good cause. In the case of the well, they donate some of the funds to bring clean water to impoverished areas in the world, but at Humphreys, theyre training young people the art of business and service. All profits go towards this endeavor, and although Ill never criticize a business for making a profit, its nice to see a company decide to give back. The environs are great, too. Open, bright, and well lit make it extremely inviting. Clean tables, comfortable seating, and excellent wifi makes it a place youre not going to feel pressured to get in and out.The coffee is well-worth the experience. Yes, teenagers are actually making your beverage, but they are no worse than any other coffee shop in the area. They are attentive, know their recipes, and appear to be aware of the processes of coffee making. One of the baristas is walking around talking to customers, which make it very personable.Ive been to most of the coffee shops in Nashville, and the lack of pretentiousness, clean and welcome environment, and good coffee makes this a must see if you like good coffee and a nice place to drink coffee, hang out, and support a good cause.
So much natural light. Great coffee. Even gave me a little chocolate to pair with my espresso. Love it when places do that! Add it to the list of top coffee spots in the city!
My wife and I visited recently and had a great experience. She ordered a cuban which she loved and I ordered a pour over that was fantastic. Lots of windows and the shop has an open layout which is really inviting. Will definitely stop by again when Im in this part of town.
Humphreys is great. One of my go to coffee shops along with Portland Brew and Red Bicycle. They have a charitable integration with Harvest Hands. Definitely recommend!
Great place for a beverage and some work time, the music is good and the building is spacious so it never feels as crowded as some other Nashville coffee shops.
Calm and quiet place with excellent drip coffee (they have espresso drinks but I didnt try any). Really new; the neighborhood is being modernized. The inside is very clean and the staff is friendly. I had just gotten into town and walked from the Greyhound station and the ladies working the counter let me stay there for like 3 hours even though Id only bought 2 cups of coffee. It seemed like it attracted a hip crowd without being hipsterish itself, if that makes sense. Definitely would go back if Im in town again
I was there for a Private Birthday Day Party. The Coffee Shop is nice. I will go back soon.
A non-profit coffee shop with a heart of gold (and fantastic drinks). our go-to spot in town for a chill vibe and wonderful coffee.
Coffee with a conscience. If youre able to make a trip here to get coffee, you should. Not only are you supporting local, but youre also supporting their mission in giving back to the community. And of course, their coffee is great!
Edit in response to their response. I know hope long it tales. I dont go to Starbucks. I support my local coffeehouse. I waited more than a reasonable amount of time. I was nice in my review and didnt say what I really felt, and which was proven by your response, This place is pretentious. There were a couple of food items by the register, nothing that looked great. I wasnt in a rush when I stopped in, but, when it takes 20 minutes to get a an iced coffee thats not ok. Lowering my review, which was fair, because of the reply by sometime who obviously knows better than I the experience I had. Dont bother with this place. I usually give second chances. Not this time.It was ok. My iced coffee was very watery, sadly. Yet another place where the staff seemed uninterested in their customers. The line wasnt terribly long but it moved very slowly and no one seemed to have a large order. Didnt get to try any food as there wasnt much that was grab-and-go.
The most beautiful coffee shop Ive ever been to. We got tea, and it was perfectly steeped. Love it here!
The staff was really nice. Coffees were ready quickly. Nice vibe. Patio was nice but was a bit chilly for us to enjoy.
Neat place. Super clean and very chill. Nice place to spend a morning or afternoon reading a book
The matcha macadamia latte was amazing, one of my favorite matcha places at this moment! But the only thing is that I ordered avocado toasts too pricey for what it is (a little bit burnt)! But great atmosphere and service.
Looks like a lovely coffee shop but they dont have regular milk. Just nut based milk such as Oat and Macadamia. I cant really think of a justification for this unless a company markets itself as a dairy free coffee shop. Overpriced and dissapointing.
Great vibe. Delicious breakfast toasts with egg and avacado
Friendly and helpful staff. Beverages made to order with style
Very nice spot. Busier than expected, so they could use another few tables. But Id go back.
Man this is probably the best Americano Ive ever had. And what a cool place! Great decor, workability, and this neighborhood-it may be the coolest in Nashville.
Place looks good from the outside, but I experienced two problems. Manager refused to bring my tea out to me and bathroom was a mess. My first and last time here.
Beautiful atmosphere. Probs not worth the 6 dollar latte.
Wonderful place to unwind and get coffee or tea. Get your thoughts together or meet someone and go over your project
Great people. Great cause. Wonderful coffee. Beautiful shop
Very cute place with an awesome mission that gives back to the community! The coffee is delicious as well!
Great comfortable Coffee House. And it helps students with education. Definitely recommended.
Friendly staff, amazing nutty coffee, and cute interior
Good coffee, good food and lots of space.
When people tell me that they hate black coffee, most times its because the brewing process wasnt great. At Humphreys thats no issue at all. Phenomenal coffee and atmosphere.
Excellent roaster.
Great nitro cold brew and a cool environment
Great mellow atmosphere, good place to read and work.
Quality establishment and mission. Good coffee!
The croissants are reminiscent to my time living in Montreal, and the cortado to my time in Seattle. I can honestly say this is one of my favorite cafes in Nashville and I totally recommend a visit!~
I really enjoyed their Cuban Iced coffee.
