We tried going through Carmax online. We attempted to get setup for curbside pick up. It was a complete disaster. This went on for three days. We were told our car would be ready to only find out two hours into our trip that it was not. Linda, at this Carmax location went above and beyond to help us out and get things situated even though they were technically closing. She was such an amazing person and I could not be more thankful for her. They have such an awesome team. Would recommend anyone to them.
I had a wonderful experience buying my second car from CarMax in Nashville! Gino was such a helpful and friendly person to work with. He genuinely made the experience so great! He was very thorough and polite. I really cant give words to how wonderful he made our experience. We had to return to change the loan to my bank and even though he could not work with us that day he made sure we were taken care of. His brother is the person that helped us and he was just as awesome! Im thankful for those two! They made everything so much smoother than it could have been. If/when I come back I really hope to work with them again!
We had the BEST experience buying and selling our car. It was the quickest and most seamless process. Gino was our sales rep. He was AMAZING. He wasn’t even working as a car salesman’s when we went but due to them being so busy and us having to wait so long he took care of us anyways. He made the process so easy. HUGE shout out to Rick!! This was my first time buying a car on my own and Rick helped me so much. He sat down with me for 3 hours the first day trying to find the best deal for me. Unfortunately, we couldnt find one that was in my budget that day so he kept working on it (even on his day off!!!) until he found something that worked for me! Let me tell youuu! This CarMax facility has been absolutely amazing! I came in late one day in May just looking to view a 2015 Ford Explorer. My sales representative was absolutely incredible and I left with a car I wasnt even expecting to take home that day. They gave way more for my trade in vehicle than expected as well. Not only that but when I started having issues with the vehicle a day after purchasing (none to their knowledge at the time of purchase) they took my vehicle to service and gave me a beautiful loaner to use while my vehicle was out of commission. I am bringing my car in for service within the next week to have a few things checked out before I go on a trip and they will be giving me a loaner vehicle for that time as well. Not only all of that but I dropped my vehicle off with Ford to have recalls fixed and they provided no loaner vehicle or offered to help with rental payments for something that is their fault. They havent even looked at my vehicle and it has been almost a week! I contacted CarMax and they were on it. Told me I could come pick a loaner up whenever I was available and that we can keep the loaner through our car service as well. I cant say more positive things about my experience with CarMax and would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone!
Ryan made the car buying process really easy. He didn’t pressure me into a specific car but went through options with me about what was realistic. When one I had ordered smelled like smoke, he wasn’t hesitant to send it back and try again. I appreciate his patience and car selling style.

Martavis did an excellent job of helping my little family through the process of buying a new-to-us vehicle. We had a nightmare experience with a large new vehicle dealership, and it was such a wonderful change to that experience. I didnt feel pressure at all like I experienced at other dealerships. Martavis was kind, funny, and was a joy to be around- which is important because purchasing a car is timely business! More than that, all of the employees at this location were smiling even as the dealership was closing and were wrapping things up. We took our two year old with us, and they gave her a cute car related coloring book and crayons to keep her busy, and were kind even when she got a little rowdy. I will recommend this business, and specifically Martavis, because we had a wonderful experience and love our new car.
First of all, I love being able to put a car on hold so I can make an appointment to come in and test drive. My salesperson, Gino, was friendly and helpful. He provided excellent service, going so far as to come in on his day off so I could finish up my paperwork the following day. The 30 day no questions asked warranty made me feel confident that I could drive the vehicle under normal conditions and decide if I liked it or not. I was far more ready to make the purchase knowing I wasnt stuck with something I didnt like after driving it for a week or two. He even followed up a couple of weeks later with me to see if I like my new car and if he could help in any way. This is the 4th car Ive purchased from this CarMax location and wont shop anywhere else.
Ive dealt with steve wright since 2014. When I sold carmax my corvette. I came and looked him up. And luckily he was still hanging in there. Since then Ive purchased 2 cars from him. Hes laid back and very easy going. Hes a great salesman. And I take customer service very seriously. And I thank him for his professionalism.

So I have done the 24hr test drive many times at the Murfreesboro store and worked with four different salespeople there with no problems getting the paperwork done. This visit to the Nashville store was poor customer service. First the salesperson which might have been new refused my insurance card that was never a problem before. I explained that previously they called the number and confirmed my deductible. He took it to his manager who listened 30 sec and waved him off. He said no too that I had to bring in a special binder. I used to sale cars at the Cool Springs store and we would sell a car by calling the insurance and getting the paperwork. Absolutely lazy manager, attitude and poor customer service. I went over and spoke to him myself. I explained the process to him and the sales floor manager said Oh the sales person didnt present it that way to me.. So I got through the paperwork and thanked the salesperson. Unfortunately the 2018 Audi SQ5 Prestige that I test drove had a problem. On my way to return it there was a terrible noise getting off I-65. A underbody panel had come loose. That is unusual for its age and mileage. I looked under and saw several panels missing. Get your cars inspected and look them over real good before you buy them from anyone. You cant always trust marketing and certified this or xxx point inspections.

Please never buy a vehicle from this carmax stay away. To start off bought a vehicle in February 2021 I am stationed at fort campbell and traded my old truck in. I live on the Kentucky side of fort campbell so Carmax did not want to title my vehicle in Tennessee even though my other truck was titled and registered in Tennessee. I had just re registered my vehicle so they told me they were going to do a transfer of registration and then proceeded to put my Tennessee plates on my new truck. Fast forward to august i was in a head on collision when i was found not at fault teenage driver texting and driving on the wrong side of the road. My truck was totaled after filling all the paper work come to find out carmax had lost the title and had to re order a duplicate title. On top of that they voided the tax check and never re issued another one. So after 2 months of waiting for them to find the title i go to re title the vehicke for insurance company to be told that the taxes on the vehicle have never been paid ans wheni asked carmax they couldnt tell me why a new check was ever issued now they cant tell me when a new one will be issued. So basically i bought a truck and have been paying for a truck that was never titled to me as the official owner and taxes have never been paid on vehicle but Carmax continues to collect payments and cannot give me any form of timeline. When i called to talk to local manager other manager refused to transfer me to him and could not give me a valid reason why.

Im very disappointed. I ordered a Maxima. It shipped. Paid 199.00 shipping. Terribly scratched. Beautiful car. I dont know who owned the car, but for a 2017, it looked worse than my 2012. Evidently somebody never inspected the car before shipping. I had a nice Sales person named Hakar. Very professional. Give him a great raise. I choose not to buy the Maxima though. Customers deserve better. UPDATE: My review, despite an unpleasant experience has changed to 5 stars because of Mike Murphey. He was so kind and apologetic. His response was commendable. Also, a shout out to Ryan Elam who welcomed me in the initial process. I bought a 2017 Nissan Murano elsewhere, and Im sorry someone dropped the ball in the process of shipping, etc.

As I was purchasing a high profile vehicle on April 26, 2020, I test drove the vehicle before completing the contract. I was using a large amount of cash from my savings to purchase the vehicle.Literally 2 min. of leaving the Powell Ave. dealership location I was Racially Profiled and sought out after passing a Metro Nashville Police Officer three streets prior to arriving at my destination.After arriving at my destination where my 12 y.o. son lived, located 2 min. from the dealership, I was accosted by the same officer I had just passed three streets back.After sitting in the driveway and waiting for my son to come out the house to look at the vehicle, the officer pulled up and turned on his blue lights. Why? Again, the vehicle was already parked in the driveway when the officer pulled up.Clearly the officer did not follow me, but instead looked for the high profile vehicle in the neighborhood I was driving in and approached after I had already arrived at my destination and was sitting parked.At that time the officer asked for my drivers license, handcuffed me and threw me in the back of his squad car while he searched the vehicle and my personal belongings in front of the entire neighborhood.My son recorded the incident once the officer told me I was going to jail as he cuffed me. When I asked what for, the officer could not tell me and called 2 other officers for back up. He possibly assumed that the car was stolen.Neighbors came out of their houses while I was cuffed, sitting in the officers squad car as he tried to figure out a legitimate charge to arrest me for. After the other officers arrived, I was told that I was being arrested for wreckless driving. However, the car was parked and the hood was open because we were looking at the engine so there was no driving when I was accosted by the officer.While sitting cuffed in the squad car, the officer called the General Manager of this locations dealership, Loren Watson, to come pick the vehicle up down the street or he would have it towed.Loren Watson came to pick the car up, made racially and discriminatory remarks, told me I was done and could no longer purchase the vehicle after the traumatic incident.Loren Watson (White male pictured) is also a Racist and did not discuss with me regarding this incident, only to tell me that I could no longer purchase the vehicle. Im definitely filing a lawsuit against the dealership.Clearly in the pictures you can see that the car is parked in the driveway as I was accosted by the officer. Again, wreckless driving was the charge and Racial Profiling prevented me from buying my dream car.

It has been impressive just how incompetent the whole operation is. The key distinction to their approach is deceit, but as with any group of liars, no one knows what the last guys lies were, so he just makes up more. The nearly hilarious part is that they called me and lied to me (planned deceit). When they printed my address wrong on the paperwork, they even had a supervisor try to convince me it wouldnt matter and that I should just sign it. Then it was a promised 2.9%apr and the sales person had no idea where I got that, even though I have them the persons name. Then they call saying the car is ready and it wasnt. Then that the parts were in and they werent. Then they were mailing me paperwork that they forgot to have me sign. It took over 4 hours in the shop, even as I had an appointment. That was the only time Ill shop there.
Rip off ...this type of business is like going to a carnival. All the games are rigged. You are the mark...these people are taught how to pressure you into taking the money. Always sell privately...

First class service from start to finish, and a good offer to boot. The Nashville location served me well, taking into account that I was on crutches, making it as easy as possible for me. This experience far exceeded my experience in another city years ago. Either CarMax has stepped up their corporate dedication to service, or its a Nashville thing! Im just glad to have such a quick and fair response to selling my car, and to have had a good experience with some very kind people.

Just wait till you take it in for warranty work. My experience with the service writer and getting them to return phone calls is horrible. You wait on them rather than them helping you. Sick after paying almost $4k for a warranty.

The service department was amazing. When purchasing my vehicle, it appeared that there was an issue with the sunroof. Made an appointment to have it taken care of and it turned out to be operator error! Barry showed me how to remove the sunroof plates on my Jeep Renegade and how to operate the electric sunroof. He noticed that some rubber seals needed replacing so he got those ordered. He also put some silicone lube in the tracks and showed me how to do it myself for maintenance upkeep purposes. Got a call later in the day that my parts arrived and made my next my appointment. Cant say enough about the customer service in the sales dept and service dept!

Horrible service all the way through. Was told that we could test drive a car for 24 hours and after getting a ride up there and got to the VERY end of the paperwork to be told that we couldnt because of not being the primary insurance holder. Asked multiple times if we were ok to let our ride leave and that everything was in order, after such was given more paperwork and once told that we couldnt drive it for more than 30 mins. All they would respond with is tht we should have know the policy. Horrible customer service all the way through. Would not recommend. Sta on the phone for a hour with no response.
Absolutely terrible experience, just trying to buy a vehicle and they put in the application wrong 2 times with the wrong name even though we had given the right one even spelling it all out. And each time I tried to schedule a deliver because they said that was the next step in the process they told me there was more to do even though I had talked to multiple people. Do not buy a car from them.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Horrible experience!!! Called and got pre approved up front so there wouldnt be any hassle just had to bring pay stub okay no problem. Drove 2 HOURS to Carmax they wanted to up the down payment and ran my credit a second time without my consent. This was my first and last time ever dealing with them.
3/13/21 at or about 5:30 me and my family arrived at carmax to purchase a 2017 highlander we were greeted and showed me the vehicle,I was satisfied and decided to purchase it. Began to fill out the paperwork which took about two hours give or take we werent offered any refreshments of any kind I was prepared to pay cash for the vehicle .

After looking around for used cars in several places from dealerships to tote-the-note lots, CarMax is superior in every way. This is not hyperbole. I have a code finder that detects whats wrong with a vehicle and CarMax was the only company that consistently had little to no codes. The truck I bought had no codes!
I had a car to sell and contacted Carmax, filled out the on line estimated sales price and had an answer within minutes. Did some research on Kelly Bluebook and Edmonds and Carmax was definitely in line. I made an appointment, took the car in for a final price and within 20 minutes was given the full estimated price. Definitely a no hassle moment. Once I agreed to accept the offer I was given a bank draft and on my way in less than an hour.
*UPDATED*car max replied to my review and the number they gave me to call is an automated number that legit hangs up on you NO MATTER what you press. I gave them $3,000 down payment and this is the service I get.the car buying process was great, BUT trying to get anything fixed on the car afterwards is a JOKE. we have been getting the runaround for weeks. The day i bought the car my tire got a large bubble on the side wall due to a defect and they refused to fix it. they said id have to wait 3 weeks! then they said they wont repair the tire. weve called all three car maxs in middle TN and they all give us the runaround. We are debating taking the car back and getting our money back.

My experience with Carmax was a bit different, than most everybody elses. Having been an Sales Rep with Carmax, 20 years ago, I knew exactly where I was going to go, when I needed another car. The entire process was smooth and effortless.The only concern I have, would be, that when my car was washed for delivery, they wouldve gotten the bugs off the front bumper. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with Carmax, and I have recommended the Nashville store, a few times since picking up my car.

He absolutely took that into consideration prior to us coming down and had a list of prospective vehicles for us to choose from. This was a multiple day process for us, due to having to coordinate who was watching the little one, but never for one second felt pressured to buy, or bothered by staff to commit to a vehicle we were not 100% sure on. We were offered a great rate on our trade-in, and got amazing finance options. Very happy with everyone from the used car valuators, our sales rep, his manager, and the finance team.
