I do not recommend that you bring your car here for service. Please see a summary of my experience below:-referred to this shop by Discount Tire to remove a tire bolt-decided to get my rear brakes repaired at the same time-car was kept for a week due to brake shoes not fitting, family emergencies, and Beaman has not delivered your brakes yet...-I was understanding about the family issue however, I did not get good customer service at this shop beyond Scott. Scott was friendly and gave a me a $20 discount after I spent $100 on rides to work.-$520 later and my car was returned with very rusted brake drums. my brake drums were rust free prior to the appointment.-I had my brakes inspected by discount tire and car max. Both reported that my brakes were low quality and appear to be cheaply done.-Discount Tire cleaned as much of the rust off as possible due to the bad referral-The shop owner, Ben, has not returned my phone calls.

Took our van in for service last week as it was leaking oil out rear seal. Later they called and confirmed problem was rear seal and repair bill would be $1100 and change. Had to drop transmission, had to do this and that....They said they were busy and it would be Monday or Tuesday before they could get to it as they dont work on weekends.Monday 8am they called and said it was finished. I was surprised that they were able to complete repair before they said they would even be able to get to it but ok. Then they said they didnt realize that it would require transmission work of another $266. And it was already done so no choice but to pay.I dont think its unreasonable to expect a call if another 24% is getting added to bill for other repairs. How would you feel if you got a call saying work was complete and oh, by the way, we needed to do X so we went ahead and did it without notifying you and your bill is 24% higher now?Perhaps they were done so fast doing a supposedly involved repair they also didnt have time to notify me.Im out of town so sent family in to pick up and we thats when we learned there is an additional 3% charge for using credit card. I do not remember him saying a word about cash price during our call. They told them they could run down to bank so we could pay them in cash.So, if you choose to use them, make sure that you get agreement to contact you before other repairs get added to the bill. Also be aware they will charge you 3% for using a card. BTW, if theyre paying 3% in credit card fees, they really should find another cc processor.

Very honest men owning/working here. They couldn’t fix my truck and misdiagnosed it. Even with that being said I would return.

My air conditioner broke as I was moving from NY state to Texas in July. I called The Mechanic in Nashville and and Cameron fit me in the same day. Everyone at the office was so welcoming and made sure the wait was comfortable for me and my dog. They fixed my A/C and I was back on the road in a couple hours.It is several days later and my A/C is blowing ice cold.Im so glad I had my car serviced at this place - there are several reasons why this shop is the top search result on the Maps app.

Absolutely great place. Needed a starter replaced & did not have the time to do it myself, so I called around town and they had the best price by far. Work was completed very quickly & the price was exactly what was quoted. Its hard to find a good, honest mechanic but I have found one. Id recommend The Mechanic to any & everyone.

If my car broke down in front of here I would get it towed elsewhere. Shady business practices like this place is the reason people don’t trust auto repair shops. I dont know what kind of shady deal they have with the discount tire shop down the street but I would steer clear of both of these rip-off artist.Mr. owner,I will add to my original since you blocked replies. The only swindler here is you and you business. no need to get mad because you are being called out. Im not sure why the clerk at Tire world would tell me that this service came with buying tires, if you or one of your people didnt put him up to it. Furthermore over the phone you acted like you knew what I was talking about. So again the only swindler in this is you.

These guys are genuine and helpful. Even though my RV was too big for their lift they made recommendations to other reputable auto shops and helped me work through the problem. Great people here. Thanks Ben!

Took a while but my car runs better than ever before.

My go-to place now. The guys that work there are honest, polite, and do quality work. Not to mention they routinely go the extra mile for you and your vehicle.

They are a decent place to take your car I believe. They did what they could to solve my issue. Would I recommend them, I really dont know! Not sure if my brakes were actually blead like they said they did!

The Mechanic is the only place we take our cars to get repairs. They do quality work for very fair prices. We have known the owner Ben, for a long time and have complete trust in him and his team to correctly diagnose issues and to repair them so you wont have the same problem again. He has saved us so much money and time and most recently saved me from having to file another insurance claim after being hit by a driver running a red light. I was told something by the collision center that was incorrect and I, of course, took it to Ben and his team for a second opinion and they were able to help me figure out what was actually wrong and it ended up being a completely easy fix. Definitely take your car to them. They are the best.

I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere for your mechanic.It took four months of unnecessary stress for The Mechanic to reconcile issues that were caused by their own mechanic after I brought in my 2007 Lexus ES350 to get an A/C evaporator coil replaced (which is a labor intensive job). I left my car there five days in July and I came back to extremely careless and rushed work. The dash was torn up, airbag sensor was now on, and the steering wheel was tilted to the right.From July 20 to Oct 20, I had to bring the vehicle in six different times, three of which The Mechanic told me to come back because they were busy (even after scheduling advance appointments). Not to mention, the four other appointments they had to reschedule. I have wasted countless hours and carless days dealing with this business.Again, all of this was to fix issues that were caused by their work. I like to trust my mechanic when working on my car but The Mechanics lack of communication and inefficient operations made this the worst mechanic experience of my life.Long story short, The Mechanic is good for cheap oil changes/alignments but anything else, youre just asking for a headache. The mechanic who worked on my vehicle was Jay (aka JR). I will not be returning to Ben and his team.

I am very skeptical about mechanics but its been an great experience with the mechanic. I brought my Mercedes-Benz up there and spoke to Ben about my issue. He then went to explain a fee to inspect the car which was very reasonable. I was called back within an hour, an the issue was addressed. Ben mentioned bc the issue was very noticeable and obvious he didnt want to charge me for it. He gave me a time frame of when the part would come in, (without any promise from me that Id come back) he and his staff ordered the part and called me in. They fixed the issue in less than an hour. Price they tell you is for cash but dont say that until you run your credit card through and they charge an extra 3% more than what is written down on your receipt. I mean during Covid everyone is using credit cards. Why not just give you the real price then perhaps offer a discount for cash.

Ben, the mechanic, seemed to be a very honest, hard-working mechanic. I went in without an appointment for a tire plug, and was out in about 10 minutes. Its good to support a local business, especially now with covid. Just know its not a luxury place (the lobby was a few chairs outside) but its a car repair shop, so it shouldnt be too luxurious anyways :)

Ben and his team were extraordinary. I had previously taken my car to a mechanic in Hermitage that quoted me $850 to replace the catalytic converter. Because of the location, I was more than willing to pay the gentleman at the mechanic to change out my cat converter, but rather than taking my money I was explained to that it would be covered by my warranty. I appreciate the honesty and all of the help. I will definitely be bringing my car to you all for all my mechanic needs. You guys rock!

I was on my way from Indiana to my moms in Florida, when my Jeep developed death wobble. I limped it off the highway and found a motel for the night. The next morning I called around, looking for a place that could change out the ball joints same day. Not only did this place offer me the best price, they said theyd do all they could to finish it that day. Man did they deliver! They worked hard and got it done by that evening - despite all the rust ha. The owner personally made sure Id be on the road ASAP, and even gave me a discount since I was just passing through. I spent the day in their customer area, and saw all day how well and honestly they treated people. This is a real family owned place, the guy at the front desk is the owners father. Id trust these guys any time. They even recommended a great BBQ place down the road for lunch - saving me an Uber trip.If you need any kind of work, definitely go to these guys!

Highly recommended! They could have tried to replace a few parts I suspected were bad just for the money but they were fair and honest and only fixed exactly what was needed. Veteran owned and great customer service!

As far as Im concerned this is the only mechanic in town worth taking my truck to. I actually drove all the way from the Mt Juliet area because I know I can trust Ben and his staff. I bought a used truck and told him it probably needed a tune up. He checked it out and told me to bring it back in 15k more miles before it would need to be tuned up.. They could have done it and I would be none the wiser. Dont waste your time and money going anywhere else. This place is the real deal.

Went to the shop and was immediately greeted by the owner and staff who were all very polite and professional. Quoted price was honored work was done within the hour and I am a satisfied customer. We used The Mechanic for an out of state pre purchase inspection. They were able to get the car in quickly, and were very honest about what they found. If I ever need service in Nashville again, I will certainly be calling The Mechanic!

Good and Bad. Took my truck in the get a radiator fixed. It messed up completely the same day less than 12 hours later. I will say Ben was very responsive in getting back to me and trying to mitigate the issue. There was an issue with placing blame on me, but after a discussion they agreed to fix the issue on their dime. I would definitely count my money after you pay the girl that works there. I was shorted change, thought maybe I didn’t factor in taxes, but then realized I was shorted more than 10 dollars. Since I told Ben, I probably didn’t factor in taxes, to not worry about it. When I got in my car and got my receipt, I was confirmed my suspicions that I was shorted. I didn’t worry about it. Ben is a great guy and I recommend taking your car to him. He does good work and is very honest. However, I don’t believe I can take me vehicles back there. I don’t like the Napa parts only policy, because I can get parts cheaper somewhere else and save money. I also don’t have full trust in them as a business. Nothing mechanic wise, just overall lack of faith. If I have a inkling of doubt about someone I can do business with them. I would suggest you go and feel them out, you may have better luck and experience than I did.Update: The owner emailed me in regards to this review. Essentially he told me not to come back to his shop. Unnecessary since I had already said I would not be back. I believe this review to be a fair assessment to the good and the bad experience I had here. The owner, however, only wants the positive and not bad. I now would not recommend this mechanic to anyone. Take it how you will.

Very nice staff and were incredibly flexible and willing to work with me. I intended to bring my own part and have it installed without any kind of part warranty expectations and they were happy to work with me and have my part installed for the cost of labor.If you are in a situation where you have the part you want installed, but cant do it yourself, please check The Mechanic out. Ive used The Mechanic twice, once for a new alternator and once to diagnose some sound coming from my transmission. These guys are quality mechanics. They have always given me fair pricing, and once referred me to a shop that was best suited to my needs and (The Mechanic) charged me nothing at all. Use them.

I cannot say enough good things about this shop. I was driving through to Texas and had an issue with my catalytic converter. They recognized this, worked quickly, and were very kind. I was out and driving again in a few hours.

I have NEVER been to a mechanic that made me feel super at ease. Ben and his staff are very honest people. Since I heard about The Mechanic 2 years ago, I havent taken my car anywhere else.

Ive worked with three different mechanics. Two were as the Southern phrased goes...as useless as s#@t on a pump handle. The third is Ben at the mechanic. Currently Im going through an issue with a car I just bought that is giving me fits. Let it also be noted I am eight months pregnant and highly emotional. Both Ben and Steve have patiently and fairly dealt with my car and my mini breakdowns without making me feel like Im loosing my mind. Ben is by far the most professional, thorough, and fair priced mechanic Ive worked with. Its obvious by what he said and the thoroughness of his work that he loves what he does and takes so much pride in his work. It also must be noted that he does not charge for something unless he is certain it is the issue. Furthermore, there are many mechanics who see a woman and automatically write her off as knowing next to nothing. Far from that, he has listened to my thoughts, been reassuring, and above all never given up on trying to find a solution to a truly baffling car issue. I wouldnt trust my vehicle with anyone else.

2 stars-Took in my Honda Civic because the engine wouldnt start. It took 2 days and cost me $49 for them to give me a diagnosis and it was the wrong diagnosis. I feel they are too busy to take the time to truly find out the problem.They say it was the fuel pump thats bad. But the fact that Civic fuel pumps rarely fail, they are built to last around 250,000 miles while my car has less than 33,400 miles should have prompt them to dig deeper. Instead, they did a superficial diagnosis and were ready to charge me $730 to change the fuel pump. I even raised concern that something else might be wrong, but they insisted that I have to change the fuel pump first before they can diagnose further.Im so glad that I pulled the car out and let a real professional mechanic, Joey Humphrey, re-diagnose the problem. Mr. Humphrey took 1.5 hours to really work on my car, even pulled out the fuel pump from the car and ran power on it to make sure that its working perfectly fine. He checked all the fuses too. He correctly diagnosed that its a failure in the cars computer system that stopped power supply to the fuel pump. It has nothing to do with the fuel pump itself. And he did all of these for free!!I cant imagine what would have happened if I continued repairing my car here. Will waste me $730 in additional to $50 diagnostic fee before they can even get to the real problem.I came here because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I am disappointed of the actual service. They had a stuck-up attitude and were too sure of themselves.I wish I can get my $50 back and pay Mr. Humphrey instead.Update: The owner wasnt happy about my review but did refund the $50.

The best experience with a mechanic Ive ever had. We are in Nashville from Alabama so being without a vehicle was a stressful concept. Cameron and the men at the shop made us feel like a priority. They helped get us towed in and fixed the problem, while staying past closing time. I would recommend this place to everyone. They are friendly, honest and the prices were excellent.

Nice people but, I took my car here multiple time to get the same thing fix. Each time I got it back I ended up with the same or more problems. After the 3rd time of taking it to them, I got it back a week and a half later. I notice right away that my car sound terrible, so I walked back to the shop and talk to a mechanic who told me everything I was hearing was completely normal. My car, later that day, broke down on the highway and I had to get it towed. I’m very very disappointed and will not be coming back here.

First time customer - they explained everything that needed to be done - car was fixed and drives great. Will be a repeat customer if anything should go wrong again with my old car. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an honest mechanic.

There a people in life that are just good people. The mechanic seems to know this and only hires those people. I have had a slew of problems with cars while in Nashville and they fixed everyone of them without ripping me off. Guy, girl, young, old, and everything in between, this is a place that will treat you right. They will not scam you. They will not do any unnecessary fixes and you get what you pay for.

Friday at 11 PM Ive got to pick my mom up from the airport for Christmas. Engine light comes on.The next morning I call around, only place open is The Mechanic. Okay, well beggars cant be choosers I need a car to help with all the family coming in town for the holiday, so they dont have to spend 300 on a rental.And its already worrying enough as it is to have an engine light come on.Get there at 10 am on a SATURDAY before Christmas, they fix my issue for a very fair price as if I had scheduled in on a Tuesday. Wonderful service and wonderful people! Merry Christmas.

Finally a trust worthy mechanic! I didnt know that I would ever find someone I could trust to work on my cars. This place is great... Great from the communication from the owner, great due to knowing what it will cost to get your car repaired and great value. I have taken my daughters car here as well as my own. I was moving from Iowa to Florida and my brakes on my vehicle started to lock up. It happened on a Friday at 5 pm. To make a long story short, I took it to a dealership since they were open. The dealership called me back the next day saying I needed 3 calipers and wouldn’t be able to get parts till next week and wanted $1,200!!!! Nope!!! I looked online for another repair shop and came across the Mechanic! Called them and they said that they could fit it in on a Saturday. Took the vehicle there and Ben and his crew determined I needed two calipers and was very reasonable on his pricing!! Very trustworthy veteran owned business. If I lived in that area I would have a auto mechanic for life!!! I can’t say enough about this place and the people that work there!! Thanks again Ben!!!

I had a unique issue with my truck that most other mechanics said they had never seen and couldnt fix. The only other shop that said they could fix it said it would cost me $400+ if I came in during a special sale. These guys found the parts and fixed it in 2 days for less than $250. I will be returning. They pride themselves in honesty, exceptional customer service, and a willingness to take on bigger challenges.

I took my car there last Friday for a noise that gets louder with speed, they lifted it, told me i need a new axle R front. 4 hours and $320 later i go to get the car, drive it and it STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!! I called them the next morning, the mechanic said my axle needed change, i told him i came for a problem, left with the same problem after spending $320, I asked for the old part, he said he’ll look for it, called later and Heather on the phone told me the scrap truck came that morning and that no one looked for the part. They basically gave me the run around.Stay away from this place they’re either dishonest or don’t know what they’re doingSir with all due respect many cars on the road can use a few things, but when I come to you with one main issue and I’m told that the noises coming from one thing and then you fix that thing that cost a few hundred dollars you’re not supposed to come back and tell me oh you also need to change your tires, this is too convenient after I’ve paid a lot of money.

I recently moved to the area and wasnt sure where to go for good, honest service when my brakes started having issues. I searched online and saw that The Mechanic was veteran owned and had good reviews, so I went to them. It was a good decision.Ben, the owner, was very personable and got me in right away, despite the shop being busy. The issue was quickly diagnosed and I was promptly given a very reasonable quote (I didnt personally shop around here, but I once paid about double for a similar service in another city and another guy in there mentioned to Ben that he had received a quote that was about $150 more expensive at another shop nearby.)They were able to get the needed parts within half an hour and had me out the door in about an hour. I was sent off with a handshake and a Merry Christmas.Its great to know that there is a shop nearby with integrity and service. I would highly recommend The Mechanic to anyone.

Went in a week ago to get my vehicle oil change. A plug in the car got stripped and oil was leaking out of the vehicle for a day. I ended up driving with extremely low oil for the entire weekend. The reason why Im giving The Mechanic a 5 star review is because they stopped at nothing to make sure that we made things right. They towed my car to a dealership so that they would be able to conduct a diagnosis of the engine just to make sure that it wasnt damaged. He even paid for a rental car for me to use to get to work. Even when I was in the shop, it was clear that their customers really trusted Ben at The Mechanics. Although my car had complications, The Mechanic is my auto mechanic of choice. Thank you for everything that you do Ben!

Ben and his crew are super honest and fair. Always quality work and good communication. They have done small and large jobs for us and we have always been happy. We appreciate The Mechanic, and its our go to for our cars and the first place we tell friends to go to.

This place is my go-to garage in Nashville. I went just because they got good reviews, and I got treated right. Ben told me a lot of helpful information and only charged me labor for something that turned out to be an easy fix. They even let me pay over the phone so I could pick my car up after they closed. Some places will try to sell you new parts even if you dont need them, but these people are honest and do the right thing. I wish there were more businesses like this.

I just love that I am not constantly being up sold on things I do not need for my vehicle.

Ive been going there for over a year now and have gotten good, honest service. I thought there was a more serious issue twice, and Ben could have taken advantage of that, but he came back with what was actually required and saved me quite a bit of money. I havent had an issue getting an appointment in a reasonable window, and they have always been nice.

My older car has gotten to know the Mechanic well! They are always quick to service my car and very reasonably priced. He never tries to sell you something you dont need, even if you dont know anything about cars. The lobby is also a comfy spot to hang while you wait. Great for oil changes too!

Really love this place they make sure your car is running right & not over charging. I had to get my brakes replaced & they dont just replaced the brakes they replace rotors & all. Most places will just change brakes & have your brakes sounding bad every time your on your brakes. Very honest people & love it!!!!

I am so grateful for the guys at this shop. I came in around closing time and they diagnosed the concern I had with my F-150 and had it fixed within an hour. They worked past closing time to make sure I was able to get back on the road. Everyone there was very nice. I even accidentally left my wallet which had over $150 in cash plus cards and they called me saying they found it and they stayed even longer past closing time to make sure I got my wallet back. They forever have my business.

Ben is an amazing mechanic and an honest and good man! he does great work for fair prices, and isnt pushy about anything you dont need. I wont go to another mechanic since we found him! definitely recommend his services
