Southern Honey Workshop is the coolest shop you will ever come across!! It is filled with unique items and beautiful furniture! I have never been disappointed with anything Kim has done!On a side note, I worked for Kim in the store for a while before I had to move out of state. I had the pleasure of watching her create beautiful pieces, from what many people would see as junk. I dont think a lot of people truly understand the amount of work she puts in to everything she does. As a wife and mother of 3, she works until she drops every single day.The ladies above who left nasty reviews are clearly crazy, and/or unstable. Through many long days, I watched Kim with her customers. She was never anything but kind and helpful to each one. Unfortunately, more people leave reviews when they are angry than when they are happy. There were a few times I remember when a customer would not like a price they were quoted or the time frame they were given, because it didnt fit their budget or schedule. I was constantly amazed at how she would bend over backwards to work with her customers and make them happy, even when she didnt have to!!Kim has an awesome store with great customer service and cool pieces. Dont be fooled by a couple of stuck-up, out of touch women who complain and make up stories because they didnt get their way. Southern Honey is a gem!

Im a big fan of Southern Honey Workshop. The store itself is very cozy and charming, and I was blown away by their chalk paint product. I used it for the first time to turn a dresser into a kitchen storage piece, and it really completed the transformation! The color is Jackson and looked exactly how Id hoped it would after drying. It went on very smoothly and dried quickly. What really impressed me was how far a single paint can stretches! Their smallest size was enough for me to put two coats on the entire dresser. Looking forward to using them for other projects.

While this store has lovely inventory, I would caution others to not order custom furniture from these business owners. My husband and I purchased two custom pieces and were given a 2-3 week timeframe for turnaround on both items from Kims husband. I asked for the exact dimensions for one item that was not on the floor to be texted to me later in the day and never received that information. Still hoping to get the dimensions of the piece, I began messaging with Kim on Instagram. She told me she would send them to me later and never followed through. As we were closing in on the 2-3 week timeframe, I called the store during business hours to check on the status of the pieces. After not hearing back, I resorted back to Instagram to ask for updates and Kim and I began to attempt to schedule a time to come pick up the pieces. After Kims slow and/or non-responsiveness, I told her that we would just show up during business hours to get the pieces and to please let me know if that was a problem. We finally agreed upon a time and my husband and I rented a U Haul to get the items. We arrived at the store upon their opening hour and they frantically got there about 30 minutes later. The items were quickly loaded by our husbands into the truck and Kim never took a moment to introduce herself or apologize for their tardiness or the communication problems. As my husband loaded one of the pieces, wet paint started to come off on his hands. We asked when the pieces had been painted and we were told just the night before (even though it had been more than the 2-3 weeks since purchase). Kim climbed in the U Haul and began touching up the pieces and when she was done, we were sent on our way. We were disappointed in the way they handled the situation and as we were heading home, I checked my Instagram to see if any sort of apology had come through via messenger. I saw that Kim had blocked me from communicating further with her on the platform. This was a petty and unprofessional reaction to a situation in which she clearly knew they were in the wrong. The swiftness of her reaction also leads me to believe that this was not the first instance of customer service problems with custom orders and I would imagine that we are not the only people who have been disappointed by their poor business management.

Southern Honey is a fantastic shop filled with things for your home. Great finds of cool furniture and all sorts of items to decorate your home. We have fallen victim to their great style by purchasing several pieces of furniture from them to decorate our own home. They also make their own paint in house that is fantastic for updating your own DIY projects. The owners couldnt be nice as well and they are a wonderful addition to Donelson.

In retrospect, the challenges I had getting calls returned/being kept in the loop about the completion date for my four pieces of furniture that I sent to be painted was the least of my issues. Yesterday when I went to pick up my two dining room chairs to take to the upholsterer, I immediately noticed areas that had not been hit with the spray gun (& thus were still wood colored), plus there were several areas of cracks in the white paint finish. When I ran my fingernail over the cracks, the paint immediately flaked off (& not in a charming Shabby Chic way). I documented these areas with photos as did Kims colleague, Melissa. Kim was not present but a man there (maybe her husband?) got her on the phone and she immediately said there would be no charge, which was not my goal (I wanted the smooth, glossy finish she posts about on her Facebook page!), but was reasonable given the situation. Melissa (& later also Kim) blamed my furniture -- the finish on it -- even though the paint they sell and used on this project has No sanding. No priming on the label This - at pick-up, after theyve had these pieces for about a month, was the first time anyone mentioned issues with the original finish. I was now told the other two pieces also had the same bad original finish (even though they are different types of wood and unrelated to the dining chairs) & that they would have similar issues. They sent some touch-up paint with me. While at the shop and more so once the chairs were in my car, I smelled a moldy smell. During my 30 minute drive home, I got sicker and sicker from the smell in a way Ive never before experienced (I was under a doctors care in the past due to mold exposure and am sensitized to its smell now). When I got home, I called Kim (who did not pick up) and left a message suggesting that a good way to manage customer expectations (& prevent disappointment) is to let customers know up front, upon arrival, if she sees anything that will prevent a piece from having a good finish. I also asked if shed call me back, hoping to discuss the mold issue. She didnt call back, but rather texted, saying she cannot call customers every step of the way and that she was sorry if your expectations were higher for the pieces. (Yes, I admit, for the approx $400-450 I was quoted for these pieces, I did expect a better result). I responded via text that I was sorry we couldnt discuss my valid concerns like professional adults and I shared my concerns about the mold -- stated that wherever theyd been stored has water damage, (later: or maybe the paint was moldy?) -- and that I cant have furniture like that in my home given my medical history. I tried to figure out a win/win solution and I asked if shed be willing to buy the dining room chairs just for the cost of the fabric Id recently bought for them ($90), suggesting shed be able to make a good profit on them with someone not mold-sensitive. Likewise I told her I couldnt have the desk and vintage office chair in my home for the same reason and offered them to her at the cost of the paint job, figuring she could sell them in her store. I also told her that if we could work this out, I would not post reviews about my experience on social media. Her reaction? She didnt appreciate the mold accusation and negotiations are for terrorists, not unhappy customers. Use your blackmail on someone else. And, even though Im the one who is now out two dining room chairs, $90 worth of fabric, $30 for a large container of paint Id bought from her, my office chair and desk (which I will not pick up because I cant risk the exposure), she wrote: I see you as someone that is trying to use manipulation to get something for free.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SOUTHERN HONEY WORKSHOP!!!I recently opened a charming country store. I wanted to carry a great chalk paint and THOUGHT Southern Honey was the product that would reflect my store. I placed my initial order, $600 to be a wholesale dealer. The paint arrived. More than HALF of the cans were dented, wax was leaking out of the jar and the label was put on upside down! I quickly contacted Kim who did NOT answer the phone after many attempts and voice messages. I wanted a full refund. I sent pictures, emails and I was not handled professionally. If this was my business, I wouldve jumped through hoops out of sheer embarrassment. Unfortunately, that was NOT the case with Southern Honey Workshop. Without going further, I want anyone to know who is reading this- there is a Southern Honey Workshop (TN) and a Southern Honey Texas. They are NOT affiliated, but did use to be partners. Ashley in Texas kindly tried to facilitate helping and repurchasing through her company, but the whole thing left me untrusting.Getting reimbursement was nothing short of a nightmare. I have more than 50 emails inquiring when I would be reinbursed. I just received the check for 412.50. Why you ask not $600? Because they offered to sell the damaged cans for $10 each, so I kept 6 quarts for shop use. That means a reimbursement of $520!It took a week to get Fedex shipping labels. I shipped all 4 cases back, only to have one case shipped back to my home! Again, no reimbursement until they received the last case. I sent it the next day, got confirmation from Kims husband Todd that they in fact had received it. Kim is now claiming I kept 18 quarts of paint! When I reminded her of the last case not being accounted for, she told me the books are closed on their end. Done. Done?! I think not! Im out almost $200 for 6 quarts of paint! Are you kidding me?Her last paragraph in her email to me said: Frankly, we were being kind by not charging you for all the damage to returned product due to them being carelessly packed upon return. No business is going to refund you for product not received. We have lots of very satisfied, pleasant customers and we are going to kindly turn our attention to them.Lets remember how this all started: THEY SENT ME DENTED CANS!Completely, unsatisfied customer. Very sad to see how some people treat their customers once there is an issue. Shame on you Southern Honey Workshop of TN.
