Yes, the prices are high, but so is the quality at this amazing store. And I LOVE the vitamin section. Their staff was so knowledgeable about all different vitamins. Love the variety of oils they have, I think I counted 14 different oils for cooking/eating. Always will recommend.
Love love love this place! Excellent selection of organic produce as well as products in general. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options from the latest in best brands. This is my favorite place in the neighborhood since moving here 4 months ago. I’m so happy we have a store like yours so close by.
My first time to visit the store, really like it, feel like 80% of the grocery are organic. and price is very fair. ordered fresh veges juice $7, test very good . definitely will come back again.
The employees are so genuine in their helpful and kind nature. It shows in the great service they provide. And the store manager Ralph really cares about the customer;hes always there when I need his help!!Matter of Health has made it easier to afford a healthier diet.
I have been shopping at A Matter of Health since they opened; its a great store! Everyone who works there is knowledgeable and helpful. They have a huge selection of products and their prices are good. Some of the organic produce is pricey, but not more than other stores.
Came from out of town and stayed at a hotel down the street. Went to grab Starbucks and popped into this lovely store beforehand. Wow, what a spectacular place to shop! Im a vegan that lives in South Jersey and I wish we had something like this closer to me. The selection is MASSIVE! Was able to take home so many vegan things that Im unable to get locally. I would drive all the way back just to visit this store.
Next best thing since Fairway is gone.....
I shop at this store whenever I can. First of all, even though the store is 10 years old, it’s in pristine condition. I was amazed when I walked in one day and found an employee dusting the light fixtures. They have a huge amount of staff and they are very busy keeping the place in tiptop condition and stocking the shelves regularly. Every employee will drop anything at a moments notice and help you find a product or get it down from a high shelf. They have a really good produce section with items that I can’t find regularly at other stores. I can pretty much find Delicata squash here year-round, which we all love. They also have a vast selection of organic apples that we are always very pleased with. Their huge supplements department is staffed by a helpful employee at all times. I can go on and on. I keep kosher and find many kosher items that we need. The last time I was there I noticed that even though they stock about 20 types of Imagine soups, they didn’t have the particular one I wanted and had seen elsewhere. They immediately took my request and had it on the shelf within two weeks, and called me to let me know that it was in stock. Color me impressed.
Guernsey milk! Guernsey milk not Holstein. Professor Bob Elliott from University of NZ was right.First time I saw this milk on the shelf in the US other than Australia, New Zealand and France. This is the only milk Im willing to drink when it comes to cows milk. This is huge, people dont realize. Milk lobby been fighting for a long time to prevent this milk from being available for sale here in the US as a separate standalone milk.
After living in the city for 6 years, I can decisively say that A Matter of Health is just as good as most of the health/vegan stores there. Always TONS of new stuff to see.Pro Tip: Go in prepared with a list of what you need otherwise who knows what you will walk out with ✍️😉
I love this store! What a big variety of health items and products. Simply amazing.
Excellent and knowledgeable employees. There is no other store like it in rockland.
The employees are always very nice and helpful. The clientele and management here can be quite mean and disrespectful. I am a FREQUENT shopper here, there’s been numerous instances where I’ve seen and heard both management and clientele talk down to the guys stocking shelves and cashiers.I was on line waiting for a customer to finish paying for her groceries, the young cashier told the woman the total amount and the very entitled woman throws her credit card at her and says “here run my card”.My jaw dropped. I looked at one of the managers at Customer Service (it happened in the register that is directly next to Customer Service) in hopes that he’d say something if not the the customer then at least in general “is there something I can help with?” Instead he just watched.I had to step in and tell the woman “how would you like it if someone threw something at you? Treat others with respect”.My fam and I have been slowly coming here a little less and less, we can’t support a business that treat their employees the way it does.
On October 18th, 2020 between 2:35 and 2:45 I was physically assaulted (pushed) out of the store by one of the managers named Ralph Assas who aggressively walked towards my cart, started to take everything out of my cart because I told him I had a health condition and was unable to breathe beneath a mask. I have the recording and have not yet pressed charges I loved the store and ashamed that I’m no longer feel safe walking in a store that not only discriminated towards my current condition yet was unable to work around it and assaulted me on top of it. Maybe if there no hands laid on me this review would have not have been written but any business that puts their hands on a person because of certain health limitations and lack understanding is extremely unacceptable.I will certainly be sharing my experience with everybody I know because it was for sure a scarring experience. Do Not Recommend
I absolutely love this store, and am so pleased that they now deliver. I highly recommend ordering from their site. It was very easy, and was able to schedule when my delivery arrived, and it arrived in the 2 hour slot that I signed up for. You can add notes on each item, for replacements etc.I had a couple of questions with regard to my order, and spoke to the manager who was very helpful (as always) and thorough in his explanation of the process. Thank you for offering this service!
I love that pleaseIs almost 1 hour from me, but have a lot of products, vegan foods... very nice place
Great selection of healthy foods, from fresh produce to cauliflower frozen organic pizza. Everything you want in an organic food store. Its a bit pricey for some stuff so I would get ice cream and staples (bread, milk, eggs) elsewhere.
Ive been shopping at A Matter of Health for many years and cannot say enough good things about it. This store is clean, organized, and an absolute pleasure to visit. From fresh produce, flowers, to vitamins, etc. they have such a variety of things to choose from.Whenever I need help finding something, there is always someone who will help me find it. In fact, if its not out, they actually take the time to go in the back and bring it out to me. Otherwise, I can order any item I want/need and, if available, theyll order it for me also.To me, they truly provide the best customer service and I, therefore, highly recommend this store.
There is a staff member stacking shelves without a mask on which just encourages the monkeys who believe in magic to follow suit. Please sort that out now.
I was on the way to target and it was shut down for some reason, so i looked for an alternative and discovered A Matter of Health. Its one of the best health stores around. They carry a huge selection of health foods for a good price, unlike whole foods which has less variety, is more expensive and sells a lot of junk too.
This is my favorite grocery store! Im selective what I buy here because its not cheap. Some items are the same price or lower than other stores but the produce is def more expensive. Everything is organic but I dont always need organic so Id rather just pay less for certain things. However their produce consistently looks amazing. I buy their beets and herbs like parsley I just feel the quality is better than other stores. They also have white sweet potatoes that are incredible! But they are so expensive so I dont buy them often. I live around the corner so Im here regularly... My favorite part is the smell of the juice bar when I walk in. Its like heaven. And I love that they have pre-made ginger and wheatgrass shots. I love their hot sauce variety and superfoods variety. The one thing they didnt have was frozen avocados. I spoke to the manager requesting it and the next week they started carrying it. Pretty awesome! They also have a great selection of natural supplements and often better prices than vitamin shoppe. Honestly this store has improved my quality of life lol 😆 does that sound extreme? I moved from NYC a year ago and this store is one of my favorite parts of Nanuet life. If Im feeling down I got to a matter of health for 10 min a feel better. Haha 😄
I absolutely love this store...always the best organic produce, the most beautiful flowers and a huge selection of quality, organic foods, snacks, drinks, etc. The staff is wonderful...everyone is friendly and helpful. I am especially grateful to Alberto, who is mostly outside managing the carts. He went out of his way to walk me to my car today when I didnt feel safe (stranger in the parking lot waiting by my car). Thank you, Matter of Health, for being a wonderful presence in our community.
Amazing selection of healthy foods including keto, paleo, kosher and vegan options. Unfortunately I couldnt buy anything as I was rudely chased out by an employee for being on the phone (video chat with someone who is in quarantine) while shopping ....
Ive always felt staff would keep a close eye on me for some reason, not that Ive given them reasons to, been a loyal customer for years. Just happens to be that just yesterday, my 14 year old daughter noticed a staff from a distance while shopping and bought to my attention he was starring at us. Sure enough i browsed over and he most certainly was, I believe he was the manager glancing at me and my 14 year old from the upper level of the store. Im bringing awareness to minorities about the staff. Based on my experience here, some of the staff appear to be very biased towards blks. Just beware. Thats not necessary in the year of 2020. All customers should be treated with the upmost respect. Aside from this issue, variety in foods etc are exceptional.
This place is amazing! It is hard to find an organic market with reasonable prices, let alone a good selection. Well, this is it. They have everything you can imagine! And, their prices blow Whole Foods out of the water. I wish I lived closer, because Id be here at least once a week!
Not once have i been standing inside w a few items in my hand for more than a minute before one of the workers will come up and offer me a basket. its always clean, has a great selection and the workers are amazing. i recently went back after a few months gap bc of corona, and theyve taken great precautions (even providing gloves for guests to wear) during this time. plus i see below that another reviewer mentioned they wouldnt let him in bc he refused to wear a mask which is fantastic to hear, thank you matter of health for keeping the trash out!! me and my family will shop here forever
I have been shopping to this place the past 4 years-- since my kids have multiple food sensitivities. though some items are expensive, i trusted the quality, their supplements, and food handling in the Hot Food Bar. i trusted the labellings of each hot food items- mostly gluten free, dairy free. So I had been buying some for my kids. Then I discovered and saw an item ( potato), not a part of the labelling--mixed into the food item which i usually purchase. I was upset because potato - is one of the food sensitivities my kids have! and i was not aware of this until now!!! I spoke to their Super-- snd he told me and recommended to me NOT to purchase their Hot Food Bar he said its contaminated!!!- Instead of him talking to his staff and make them aware of the mistakes!!BE CAREFUL ---their food is poison!!! Beware!!
Love the store!
I just wanted to thank Ralph, the manager, because my mother, Sydelle M., was in his store today and was so very pleased with her experience!!
I really like this market. They have everything holistic, natural, organic and some different brands I could not find elsewhere.
Excellent place to go if you are health oriented and like organic foods. It is a bit pricey but they do have deals. I have cooked some of the best meals in my life using goods from here. Worth at least a walk in.
A Matter of Health in Nanuet, offers the most varied assortment of organic and gluten free products. Because of my weak immune system, I have been trying to be healthier, but unsure of where to start. The customer service at A Matter of Health is extremely informative and enlightening. I have even conversed with the vendors who have described in detail the benefits of using their products as well as the ingredients. The workers are charismatic and helpful. They knew exactly what I was looking for. I recommend this market to anyone who is contemplating having a healthier lifestyle because the information and products this market offers is truly remarkable. I am very lucky to have found this wonderful market where the prices are very affordable. What I also love about this market is that I dont have to worry about the quality of the food. I am totally in love with their produce section. It is the only market where I can get all my fruit and vegetables organic.
Impressive selection of health foods. Impressive spread of herbs and supplements. Impressively knowledgeable and friendly staff! Literally, the freshest produce you can find in the area outside of a farmers market!
I have been trying to eat a diet with low pesticides, chemicals and toxins for the past year. I love this store! GREAT PRICES!!! Always clean, employees are always helpful, and great selection!
I am a small online handicraft seller. Few months back, they asked for a sample for one of my hand made item for free. I sent it asap and after few days I sent them follow up emails few times but they never replied back once, even after receiving my product. They dont even have a courtesy to reply to emails to someone from whom you got a product for free. You must at least acknowledge/respect someones hard work and hard earned money. It cost me more than $20 to sent you my product and you dont even have a courtesy to reply at least once. Such businesses should be boycotted.
Great place.
Not a big selection of sugar free foods... but still one of my favorite stores. prices can be high at times but they run sales sometimes.
At first glance its great. Wonderful selection of fruits and veggies that you dont normally see many places, a generous supplement section with helpful employees who sometimes know their stuff, friendly cashiers, a unique juice bar with eccentric healthy drink that may or may not taste good depending on personal taste buds, there are always guys stocking shelves which gives the impression that everything is fresh. What they dont tell you is that its an absolute must that you check all labels on products in the entire store. It can be surprising how many are expired then sometimes they dont believe you when you return an expired item. They act as though theyre being scammed because the date on the product is far off from the date of purchase. Be sure to check all veggies and fruits too... some may be green and fuzzy in places they shouldnt be. Make sure you smell the fresh made food bar to be sure its really fresh and sometimes the pizza is undercooked and doughy. The prices are somewhat ridiculous in some areas and when an expensive item is expired, you feel like the butt of a sick joke when they give you a hard time trying to return forementioned item. They have a huge selection of things you dont normally find anywhere and are very friendly to the population that is gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, nut allergies, vegans and just plain tofu enthusiasts. Its a fascinating place to be but I call SHENANIGANS on their plethora of expired items
I am really impressed with the service at this place. The staff is actually knowledgeable of the things they sell. The prices are ok, I mean, nothing to write home about, but good enough for me to shop there. The store itself is beautiful and organized. I would want to hang out there. Just wish there were more of these types of stores around.
Staying in nanuet for a week, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice health food store so close to my hotel. I went several times for dinners, snacks etc. One morning I tried a smoothie, that was great. The smoothie did not irritate my digestion so I went back the next day. Purchase 3 smoothies, get on the road, we start drinking them and find aluminum foil pieces! Crazy right? I call and the girl at the juice bar apologizes and says come back for free next time. Explained we were already on the road and the girl says come back first chance. So, my husband goes back the next morning, speaks to manager who tries calling him saying he was making it up and was not respectful. In their conversation it turns out it wasnt just us with foiled drinks. How can you treat a customer with disrespect knowing others had called in with same problem? My husband gets 2 smoothies. An hour later my son was vomiting and I got intestinal woes, not sure if it was bad fruit, milk or what. Long story is perhaps the manager and smoothie bar was having a bad day and we bore the brunt.
Great selection of gluten free food. Cashiers were very nice.
This store started out somewhat affordable and their prices even compared to those of Fairways. However, over the past year their prices went up 30% more than any other store around. I now buy my produce from my local farmers market and get the rest of my groceries and vitamins from either fairways or my local health food store.
Excellent fresh produce, low prices on organic foods of all kinds.
I was looking for the best quality CBD oil I could find for my dog who is having some serious mobility issues due in part to arthritis. The manager was kind enough to get a person over to help me that was supposed to be knowledgeable. He ended up being rude, disrespectful and obnoxious. I needed to know which of the products had the lowest THC and highest CBD content to minimize any potential reactions since shes on a few different meds. He proceeds to tell me what the legal limits are and that its only a trace amount. When I attempted to explain why I needed to try to get the purest form he replied, I was trying to educate you but thats obviously not going to happen. After informing him and the manager that he was rude and promising to never go back I drove to New City and went to Back to Earth on Main St. Its a smaller store with smaller egos and bigger smiles. This place was horrible when I went there years ago and obviously hasnt improved. Their customer service skills and quality keep going down but their prices keep going up up up. Never again.
Its a ripoff organic store that tries to pretend its some type of Whole foods with scam artist holistic speakers and food sellers that are more filled with air than knowledge. In addition, most of the time, they have expired food and open products. I have to check everything I buy there because, the managers are not reliable. You have to fight to get refund on their beat up, expired products. Additionally, their reward system is a joke, you will have to spend close to 1000 dollars for a lousy 10.00 bucks. Its not worth it and the only reason, I ever went there is because, it has a convenient location, but I get better quality products and prices online. Furthermore, the selection for organic products are large but the products dont move fast enough off the shelves so I often see expired, beat up, and dust covered products on the shelves and they tend to the ones, that are on sale so I always have to check expiration dates on products with sale stickers. There is no quality control on the hot food either and my family actually got food poison, from eating their food. I dont recommend going there; if you can find another organic store than go there, even if you drive further because, its worth the trip to find a place that has quality products and customer service.
My favorite store in Rockland
Friendly staff and great selection of gluten free foods.
They have very good selections. The carry all types of supplements, but better compare prices with Amazon since some of the supplements are quite expensive. I would love to buy all my fruit and veggies from there, but it is not very affordable, special if you compare it with Costco.
I LOVE this place. Organic everything and prices are competitive and some cheaper than the Fairway across the street. Finally everything you need under one roof; produce, groceries, health & beauty and a kombucha fountain!!!
Great selection of healthy food & vitamins at a competitive price. Food from their fresh food bar is always super flavorful too
As with any store, be careful and read the labels, not everything is good for you, just because its in a health food store. poor selection of gluten free flatbreads.
Welll...I will never regret a sandwich more than I regretted the one I bought here. Upon walking in, it seemed like your standard organic whole-foods-esq grocery. I grabbed a tuna sandwich from their bar and within a few hours I was deathly ill. It was the only thing I had eaten in hours and was treated for food poisoning at Nyack ER. When I tried to tell them they gave me food poisoning, the completely ignored me.Before the sandwich I was highly considering leaving a review about how they openly talk about their employees in front of customers. Have some respect...I dont want to hear you insult people that arent there to defend themselves. If you dont have something nice to say, keep it out of earshot of customers.
Unbelievable selection of deathly and organic food options. Their hot food section is also too good to be true. GF and vegan options galore!
The prices are good, and it is often the only place I can find the products I need to support my vegan diet.
This place is great... they have options for everyone whether youre gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, soy intolerant... everything! I was asked maybe 4 times if I needed help which was awesome, and they have a cold/hot bar in the back with ALL the ingredients in everything. Place is clean, new and they have a points system too!
If you are serious about eating healthy, A Matter Of Health is by far the best choice. Their organic selection blows Trader Joes out of the water and their prices are so much cheaper than Whole Foods. And Unlike Trader Joes, ALL their fruits and vegetables are organic! I even recently compared their prices to Shoprites organic items, and they are even cheaper than Shoprite! My family and I now do all our grocery shopping there. They even make fresh organic pizza, which you cant find anywhere, not to mention their sushi is made fresh with organic ingredients.
My family goes there regularly. Ordered a fresh turkey for t day. picked up monday pm to find a frozen turkey. 80.00 for a frozen turkey. worker still declares its fresh. isnt fresh not frozen?
Nice story great costumer service
I found a stone (see photo) in the peanut butter I made using A Matter of Healths Dry Roasted Organic Peanuts I had purchased in bulk. I did not mix in any other ingredients in the peanut butter or ate it with any other food. I left A Matter of Health a voicemail about this issue. Im glad I didnt damage my teeth. I like the store but this experience has left me very disappointed.
They didnt allow me to enter the store because I didnt have a mask. Will never go back to this store again
Be careful for what you wish for, if you see what goes on behind the doors you would never eat here again. Trust me, I worked there.
Awesome! They have everything I need and more
I love this place! You can find a lot of stuff, and what they dont have is across the street.
Very Kind Staff and a wonderful selection of produce! :)
The only place i shop. Period!
Excellent place for some healthy choices. Organic prepared food at the rear of the store.
Clean, delicious, affordable. Great healthy organic food options
Everything you could want. Usually a pretty quick stop with helpful staff and fast lines.
At first i loved this place...every healthy thing you could imagine was on their shelves...but after a few months i stopped shopping there because i got annoyed at having to always return one or two items because it was out of date when i purchased it.... so i left for a year and happened to be passing yesterday so i popped in to get some Flax seeds because it was on my way.... while enjoying breakfast this morning i happen to be reading about the seed when (my fault i didnt do this in store) i look at the bottom of the label and it says its expired.... not just expired but expired in dec 2014... its now april of 2015...Its just not worth it... i wouldnt mind if this was a one time deal but this is actually number 4 for me... not going back and if you do i suggest you read all labels....
Fantastic selection of produce and goods with a plethora of beauty products and prepared food at far more reasonable prices than any organic/natural store around.
Fabulous selection of well priced all organic vegetables.
Great Place overall, but VERY expensive. Cant believe they didnt have corn or lemons in the middle of the summer. BOO!
Great selection of natural and organic foods
I f you are concerned about eating healthy this is the place for you. The staff is pretty knowledgeable (just gotta ask the right people) and they even have a buffet and kitchen in the back. I wouldnt recommend the pizza though.
I bought an organic bees honey it smell like sh***, I am sure some kind of mouse died there, so make sure to take the receipt, also dont believe in sale price.
Great health food store, a little expensive but you can find sales.
Great place for organic shoppers.
Great selection, but very very expensive!!!
Had good customer service
Love this place.
A little overpriced but there are no other organic options in the area.
Amazing selection
Nice selection
Great place
If you are looking for health foods or organic ingredients, I would recommend this. The meat and vegetables are all fresh. However, the price is slightly higher.
