Very kind and treated great! They were very patient with assisting me with finding a key for my boat. Very recommended! Top notch people and made me feel as if I mattered walking in the door vs just being another number. Cant say enough good!
Wow!! Personal service by Fred for my old 1965 Evinrude 40 horsepower was out of this world! They had the carburetor repair kit in stock along with a float and plenty of sage advice. Highly recommend.
Mike, Justin and Francis did a thoroughly professional and comprehensive engine build for a retrofit of my Walleye boat. Plus I did a trade in of the original engine which Mike gave me a very honest trade value threw in a matched prop and charged me minimum labor cost even though they took extra time to make sure everything was 100%. I traveled over 3 hours to get there and was glad I did even though I live closer to many marine shops on the east side of the state. I highly recommend Sportsfishermans Service they were great to work with!
Went in to spend up to 5k on a boat the lady at the door told me to put on one of their dirty fabric masks. I Politely declined they were used and unwashed hanging by the door not sure if they want me to get sick but extremely nasty and unprofessional. my family has been using them for years but after seeing they don’t care about my health and well being I decided to spend my 5k elsewhere and got a really good boat I won’t be back just spent another $500 at halls today. Shop at mom and pops as much as possible but beware some don’t want or Apparently need your business.
Hey had what I needed helped me pick out better cheeper products. Great group of ppl wish I had found them sooner .they are my go to boat needs from here on out
Excellent customer service. Great prices.
Very honest with me ... and made safety a priority
Excellent boat motor repair shop!!
Owner super nice stuff really helpful great place to go shopping or just for questions
Ive had them work on my pontoon and my cabin cruiser, and been very happy over multiple experiences with them. They know me on a first name basis, and I know some of the guys the same way. Surprised to see some of the negative reviews, because they have always done me right.
They help with a problem that I had that no one else would even take the time to talk to me about. Thanks So Much. Great people here they will help and take care of you.
Always good to me
Had a friend recommend this place to me. Called and explained that I work banking hours and wouldnt be able to drop off my boat until after they were closed. Worked with me and let me drop it off after their normal business hours! Very happy with the customer service so far!
Repair part prices are insanely steep. Staff is dismissive and not helpful. Felt like I was more of an inconvenience to them than a customer... This was my third similar experience shopping there. NOT recommended, try elsewhere!
If I could give negative stars I would. They are the most unresponsive company I’ve ever experience. They sole us a $14,000 list that fell apart within a year. After many months of trying to get a response, they will not take responsibility and blame it on their installer who has since disappeared. Do not be taken like we were. Go elsewhere or any and everything!
It was good
Took my boat there for motor repair. When I dropped it off, I was told they would have an estimate to me within 3 days. Long story short, after 3 weeks of leaving messages, driving down there once during business hours to find the place all closed up, I finally called and got someone on the phone. Although the person claimed to have an estimate for the repair, when I mentioned my concern for my boat being full of ice and snow from 3 weeks of sitting outside, the person told me if I thought snow and ice would hurt a boat, I was not the kind of person he wanted to deal with. At that point he told me to just come get the boat, he was not going to work on it. When I went to pick it up, it was sitting right where it was 3 weeks earlier. I dont know how they could have an honest estimate as it was obvious they had never looked at it. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION. All I wanted to do was pay them to fix my boat. Wasted 4 weeks of my time. I would recommend taking your boat anywhere else for service.
Took my boat there for various services and found them to be knowledgeable, friendly and affordable. Boat was done on time.
Very friendly to deal with.
Got royally screwed. Dropped off 20hp outboard for repair. They never bothered to call me when the motor was done... when I stopped in they said it was ready but they lost my bill.... I finally get the motor home and go to hook up gas line.... they forgot to give me my fuel fitting back, thats understandable.... heres the big one... I dropped the motor off with electric start, when I get it home the whole starter was missing. They said it never had a starter on it when they got it. I took pictures before I dropped it off to help me remember where the wires go. The pictures show the starter. They were unwilling to make it right with me. Sometimes you just get screwed. And this is what I got for $650 I might add....
To place to go to get your boat fixed or your motor very knowledgeable people I would go back there
Called to get motor repaired and got an appointment for a week and a half later. Brought it in on date given to me. 13 days later they hadnt even looked at it. So basically 3 weeks in July.So if you want summer storage for your boat this is the place to take it!Update based on responseWhen i came in to get boat the only response i got was Ill have him pull it out for you.Strange nothing was said about they were close to having it fixed! I guess they dont like to admit they are overwhelmed on repairs.Further update.Took to another boat repair shop where in 15 minutes with compression check found #1 cylinder shot!. Must have had a new power head arriving on Monday.
Will have the parts I need tomorrow very helpful.
Worst experience ever! Never fixed the boat after spending 110 bucks! Was told the boat ran fine and it won’t even start. Brought it back and was refused service. Never again will I go there and suggest that no one else does either. I would give it lower rating but I can’t.
Very happy with my new boat. The sales and service staff was very helpful and answered all questions and concerns. They have earned my future business.
I have bought around 6 outboard motors ranging from 4 hp to 100 hp and multiple boats from Mike at Sportfishermans Service over the last several years. I have been happy with all of them, they have been reliable and run great. Of course with 20-30 year old outboards there can be minor issues, but he has always stood behind his work and been more than fair with any issues that may have come up.He has very fair prices, offers a warranty on his work, and he is the only one I would go to when looking at buying or repairing used outboards.
*edited to add:. Its quite obvious what boat this was, either that or they are plain stupid. Nice try though.Had our boat for 2 weeks, just to tinker with the outboard that had no spark. Guy said he messed with it a bunch, and couldnt fix it so we brought it home. My husband who has very little knowledge found a loose wire within an hour and its running just fine. Wish we would have had him look before we brought it to these guys. OH and they damaged our trailer as well, ran into it and it has a nice scrape on the fender. DO NOT RECOMMENDED.
Great guys. Very smart. Can make boat motors like new!
FIXED MY BOAT AND MY DAUGHTERS FOR A FAIR PRICE NICE PEOPLE.
I have tried several times over the past several years to have work done on my boat and motor. Ive had to return several times with the same problem. Finally destroyed the motor. I had to buy one elsewhere but first found out it was just a bad fuel pump. Dont know how much I actually spent and down time sucked. Got stranded on the lake right after servicing also. Then 2017 had them wrap the boat and clean pontoons. The cleaning was bad compared to what Great Lakes Maribe did the previous year.Regardless, I still went back to purchase pontoon cleaner as I decided I might as well do it myself this year. Found out they knowingly sold me the wrong product. It was for fibreglass not aluminum! Found out they were actually out of the correct product so apparently the sale was more important to them.I contacted the manufacturer who told me what they sold me wouldnt do anything for my pontoons. So I call spirtfushermans service only to get hung up on when asked why would you sell me the wrong product. He said because Im in-human I guess and hung up!Im done with them! The place is old and a total mess! Looks completely unorganized, cluttered and unprofessional. Thats how I feel about the service too! Our family had done business with them for years but they have really Gone Down Hill! Not the same at all!I strongly suggest going to Halls or another marine service center if you can. Chances are you will be disappointed here while loosing time and money!
Great service and affordable prices.
Hell of a job can u believe this company winter ize my boat as it was pouring rain all day . didnt think it would get done until monday.but they got her done.
Had boat repaired here. Fairly fast service and reasonable.
Awesome business that is honest and know what theyre doing.
Great place, friendly staff, full of knowledge! I would recommend this place highly.
Mike is the best- nice guy, good communication, honest and logical business process means no surprises or work without permission like some of the marinas -highly recommend.
Had our boat in for repair recently. Upon picking it up, a) the boat was not placed out in front as had been previously discussed, leading to another day before we could pick it up, and b) the wires from the motor to the battery were disconnected. We contacted SFS and after several days heard back from them where they agreed to connect the wiring if we brought the boat back. Tonight, we went to pick up the boat, only to find (again) not all the wires were hooked up. We will have to figure out what goes where and do it purselves...but after spending nearly $1k to fix some motor issues, we shouldnt have to DIY wiring, or anything. Not to mention, we brought the boat in with the wiring connected...is it too much to expect it to come back that same way?
Always helpful.good place for used props
Mike is the best and everyone is very willing and able to help! Wish I lived here, I would make him my favorite to go to!
Stay away, very poor service. Had my boat there 2 weeks and nothing done.
Bought a Remanufactured 60 hp evenrude from them last year, for about $2800 with a trade in, excited that I have a new motor, I followed their instructions for break in to the T, once break in was done, the motor seemed to need new jets due to the fact it has been bored out and wont run properly at higher speeds, it seems to be lacking fuel at top end, so I figured no prob, lets get some new jets and call it a day, after changing all the fuel, fuel tanks, fuel lines, and even added a water separator to the fuel lines (at my cost and their suggestions) well here I wait after 20 to 30 emails that rarely get answered, and 3 visits across the state of Michigan,(I live on the east side of Michigan) still no jets, their product support seems less then good, and this Motor was supposed to be built by the Owner of the place Mike! I may have to report this to better business and see if that gets them to right this wrong........ really hate having to write such a poor review, but it is what it is, at this Time I DONT recommend going here to anyone !!!!
Very good. Mike knows what he is doing and treated me well
Had them rebuild my outboard motor. Did a good job
Man seems they dont care or dont know what they are doing. Had 48SPL go in to have my carbs cleaned and after a month and a half finally picked it up. Ran it out to 100 FOW on Lake Michigan and it died. Finally got it back started and got home. Dropped boat back off and said you better figure out problem. They never fixed it, changed jets in one carb not the other, felt they were reaching for straws trying to figure out my motor. POOR POOR service. Now I need a rebuild and of course on my dime.
Good service friendly people
Needed seal kit for a 69, west marine in Holland couldnt get it but sportfishermans ordered it and had it the next day.
Dropped off a 18hp johnson to them in may and was told it would be done in a week. Took them 4 months to do a tune up and points. Plus they charged me 227 for the job. This company needs to go sell their bs somewhere else.
Great place for advice and service
WAS TOLD TO BRING IT HERE THEY REFUSED TO HELP US THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH MY DAUGHTERS BOAT
Very helpful...
Love this place
