Selling to Carmax... price was good but the rest sucked. No respect for your time, lied about timing and couldnt care less to resolve. Spent over 3 hours total here selling my car. Also I got the bid without mentioning my aftermarket wheels (because I thought I was going to take then off) and I mentioned when I came in for appraisal. Surprise surprise No extra value for Bronze Icons on a lifted white 4 Runner.

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism, and enjoyed that the price on the window was the price that I was paying. The purchasing process is very efficient. Awesome experience with my sales person, Austin. He made the entire process very simple, and had a great sense of humor. Carmax provided a great deal on my trade in offering me significantly more than I’ve been offered elsewhere. The only hiccup in the process was receiving a prorated refund for my previous vehicle’s MaxCare plan, which the team operating the paperwork side of things suggested that this process would be automatic. Unfortunately, it was not and it did require some back and forth with the original Carmax I made my previous purchase at, which was not too difficult however I did find it inconvenient.The lot is clean, the cars are clean, everything is well spaced out, and everyone seemed to be in good spirits.Thanks, Austin!

We purchased a truck, had it for 3 days, then took it back as the speedometer was broken. They had it for 8 days. They did not wash the truck when we finally picked it up like they said they would. They did not want to compensate us any time. I asked why this issue wasnt taken care of before they sold us the vehicle and they had no answer. All they said was they would take care of it. If you purchased from a dealership they would not help you.

Had a car transported from LA here. We arrived a few days before our appointment just to see if it was available. They had no issue pulling it from the back, and allowing us to check it out. Made buying process easy and werent pushy with gap insurance or extended warranties. Sam was our salesman and would buy from him again. 👍
The experience was great! I would definitely recommend this location, and CarMax in general, to my friends and family. Robyn was thoughtful and listened to what I was interested in. I found the car online before going in. After a decent wait (they were quite busy for a Sunday evening), I was able to see the interior of the car and take it for a test drive. The finance part was quick and easy. The appraisal for my trade in was quick and delightful as well. Drew was nice and talkative. At the end of the night, Lindsay took care of all the paperwork and explained thoroughly when I needed some clarification. All in all, awesome experience!
Sol was great and we found a great deal. We planned on just looking but could not pass up buying the perfect truck for us. The only complaint would be the wait time for the paperwork to be done.
I am blown away by how efficient the process was…I called and set up an appointment to get an appraisal (within 1 hour), arrived, parked, walked in, signed/checked-in, the appraisal was immediately completed within 30min, they made me a very fair competitive offer for my car, I accepted the offer, they typed up the DMV sales / transfer documents & cut me a check and I was out of there; from start to finish within somewhere between 60-90 minutes! The only thing was that I knew buying the car that it needed the AC to be looked at and it took over 2 weeks to get another appointment for service. Everything else was excellent.

Do not sell your car here. I sold my vehicle to this location on July 1st and it is now August 9th and they still have not paid off the loan. I call every other day and I have to explain the situation over and over and tell them exactly what documents they failed to send to my lender and every time nobody has any idea what is going on. I just had to make a car payment on a car I have not had in over a month so it wouldnt fall on my credit. Last week somebody told me they took care of it and that she sent the missing documents (a month later), and I called today and nobody has any record of anything being sent. Spoke to the manager today who obviously doesnt care, as he is unapologetic and made it out to be the lenders fault. Told me he would have to reach out to a different department and it could take a couple days to a COUPLE WEEKS to hear back. This has been an absolute nightmare of an experience. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere competent.UPDATE 09/28/2021I was issued a refund check for the car payment I had made 6 weeks ago. Still have not received. I called and they said the manager is out for lunch and that I would get a call back same day. Called 4 hours later and I was told he went home for the day. It is now the next day and nobody has contacted me. This place continues to show me the lack of communication and care.

I WAS SOLD A LEMON. The salesperson name was Gaby(who didnt really know much about Jeeps and had to ask co workers for help) Car stopped working after 3 weeks. I bought a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. The next day I brought it back in because something was wrong with the stirring wheel. I was told nothing was wrong and was sent on my way. Couple days later my car started shaking uncontrollably on the freeway. I was terrified. I took it in again and was told it was the Death Wabble and that it needed a new part for the alignment. A week after that the car stopped in the middle of the street with the light going haywire. The hazards didnt even work so I was scared a another car was going to hit me since it was night and my car is black. I had to get a tow from LA to Temecula. When I brought the car in AGAIN remember this is the third time they said they would replace my car. They didnt have my car in stock and the sales person Rosie tried to sell me a 2014 model saying that was was the closest model to my car. They also had a 2020 which is the same generation as my 2019 but wouldnt upgrade me. Cedric their manager said he couldnt upgrade me past $1,000. So I decided to return it. When asking about a particular line in the document they both said I dont know what this means so I had may lawyer look at it the next day everything was fine. Do not buy from this dealership!
It’s always a headache & expensive, when you start having car trouble. As was our experience. Rather than continue in a downward spiral, we got an online offer from Carmax. We then went to their facility and got an appraisal, which came back lower, but again we were experiencing car trouble after we did the online offer. We felt it was fair and the process was fairly quick and non stressful. Everyone was pleasant and the process didn’t make us feel like we were being taken advantage of. Over all a great experience. Very straight forward!

Bought a Lexus GX460 with 27,000 miles here all cash. Fast forward to 2021. I unfortunately hit a deer and had to take vehicle into a collision center where they found inappropriate collision repairs that were done prior to be buying it. Both the body shop and insurance adjuster said in order to guarantee the work those prior repairs and GLUED on parts had to be replaced, installed correctly, and painted or they would not do repairs. These prior collision damages were visually obvious if you had the car on a hydraulic jack which CarMax did because they put new tires brakes and oil change prior to my purchase. I was provided with an Experian Auto Check report that the car had never been in a collision. I was provided with a CarMax inspection report. Therefore, I called CarMax sales manager Roy San Jose sent him the pictures and he agreed that I would be reimbursed for my out-of-pocket costs. Over a month later I called the business office to inquire about my reimbursement check. Well guess what I was told? The check was put in the mail TODAY! When I asked the business manager, Rob Sanchez, for the number of that check I was told he did not have it!!! Its the proverbial your check is in the mail game and not accepting responsibility. If you buy a car here most body shops will do a free inspection for you. Do not trust the reports you are given. I wish I hadnt.
Worst experience ever! Nothing but a bunch of misinformation given to us since day one. Great they have a 30 day return policy but when we came to return the vehicle the lady Angie helping us was very rude, unempathetic and not understanding as to the first and second experience we had here. Also one of the sales people sat us and we sat for 45 minutes before we had to ask what was going on and then we’re informed wait times are 1.5 hours. Never ever again will we come here. Make sure if you choose to come here you ask all the RIGHT questions so you don’t screwed over.

I went in to sell my vehicle to carmax. I had an online appraisal offer from them already. On my visit it, I was helped pretty fast. Vehicle was inspected and I was offered the exact amount from my online appraisal because what I put online matched what they inspected. I accepted offer and they did the paperwork no fees. Received my check and that was it. Process took about 1.5 hours.

Went in to look at a Honda pilot took it on a quick test drive and decided to do the 24 hr test drive since we liked the car so much. Bryan Garcia told us that we could not do both test drives. My father just spent 70k on 2 cars here 3 weeks ago and was allowed to do both. I promise we will never return to another carmax again. Dont advertise a 24 hr test drive unless you plan on honoring it.Update: thanks to spreen honda for knowing how to earn someones business.

Im in Murrieta but got the car in Escandido Car Max, it did take a few days to vet the problem solved, but they accommodated me by having it fixed here in Murrieta Car Max everyone very friendly and helpful I would definitely go back.

We had been looking for a truck for a while and when we found it at another car max, we had it transferred to our local store, from the moment we filled out the transfer on line they kept in contact to make sure we knew what was going on with the truck and when it would be ready for us to see it. This was my first time at CarMax. I went to get an offer on my vehicle. The value was right in line with fair market value per KBB. I also took my car to DCH of Temecula considering they have record of all the scheduled maintenance Ive had attesting to the excellence mechanical condition of the vehicle. The service level between the two places was night and day. Even though I knew the dealership would come in low with an offer, what they presented was an insult. CarMax has gained a future customer out of me. Thank you CarMax and the gentleman that assisted me. Your offer was fair, your employees were happy to be there, and service was top notch. Nordstroms would be jealous.

The offer was unimpressive…well below blue book trade in value, and they forgot about us so we were there for 3 hours. Will not go back. Ever.

Im not gonna lie and say it all when smooth. We saw a SUV we liked and reserved it. When we got to the dealership they had sold it. Luckily we went to a different location and saw one we did like and we had it shipped to the carmax closest to us. After that everything went perfectly. 4 out of 5 stars. They would have gotten 5 if we had started at the last dealership.
Bad customer service. Felt like I was bothering them. We test drove some vehicles, they didnt tell us anything about them, I dont like pushy but they didnt try at all. The cars smelled bad and were filthy, with dirt that could have easily been wiped off. When I told them he just shrugged his shoulders. I will not go to a carmax again.

Tons of people standing around waiting to be helped as employees stand around doing nothing. Crazy long wait times to be helped. Super rude and uneducated people that work here. Came in knowing that I wanted a red 2021 Camry that I saw online, worked with Jonathan Sturrup and Janis Elliott didn’t have any problems got to try out a few other cars to make sure I was making the right decision. Jonathan was prompt with the next test drives ready until I decided I wanted to keep going forward with the Camry and he told me about the 24 hour test drive. That test drive sold me on the car and the paperwork after was easy and Miss Janice made sure that I understood all of the wording. Would recommend both of them to anyone!!! Thanks guys!
I had an appraisal online then i called to schedule an appointment, I spoke with a Josh and he recommended both my husband and I to show up as both our names were on the name of the lease. My husband was at work so he scheduled us at 5:30pm on a Sunday. We get to the Murrieta, ca location they tell us that the appraisal department is closed and there is no one there to complete the full transaction. I asked why then would they schedule an appointment knowing the department world be closed as we could have been scheduled for a different day. The woman then stated its something customer service says to get people in stores but they dont usually take appointments! However she apologized and stated she would call the lease financing company first thing on Monday morning and call me back with all financial information, SHE NEVER DID! I called back Monday evening to follow through and was told no one got a hold of the financing company, the gentleman helping me was extremely rude! He kept speaking over me and interrupting me. When i wouldnt allow him to continue to cut me off he would raise his voice. I was annoyed and hung up on him. My husband then went on his own in person on Tuesday morning and after forgettimg about him for an hour they were able to help him and follow through with the sale of the vehicle. My husband had a good experience but i did not. They just wasted my time. I personally would never go back
Smoothest transaction in dealing with cars. Submitted my info online, got a quote, and got paid. All of this under one hour. Like what they said they would do. I was skeptical at first. But they handed me the check around 40 minutes after I came in and they even paid for my ride (Lyft) going home since I did not buy a car from them. At least 3 people checked on me while I was waiting just to make sure I have been helped already. Almost like a faith community. Awesome company. Awesome procedures.

We were greeted as soon as we entered. We were seated and proceeded to state our business. Our car was then inspected by your personnel. We were then given the appraisal which was the same as we had received on line. We received the check and were on our way. The only problem was the length of time it took to get the check to us. We realize that you were busy at that time. I also know you had bottled water available for the customers but you need to make the customers aware of this. But all in all the visit was a pleasant experience. For your information I was very well pleased with the amount I received and have been telling all my friends of our dealings with you. My 1st Purchase of my smart car in 2011 with car carmax Escondido CA was flawless and painless. It was time for a new vehicle found one had it shipped to carmax Murietta CA.Paper work and the ordeal with paperwork and salesperson took incredible too long.Partially because I paid for it in full. Nearly 4.5 hours. Than was told the vehicle would be cleaned,I watched as it sat there in the wash bay never touched,waiting for the business office to get paperwork completed. I asked 3 times for my old plates and never got them.
Traded in a car. Bought a car. The car that was purchased had an issue before I’ve had it for 30 days. It’s a NIGHTMARE trying to get ahold of the service department. Will never purchase from here again and will absolutely deter anyone I know from dealing with them. Tell your service department to answer the phones and return phone calls! It’s been days since I’ve called. I’ll be contacting corporate and the BBB if necessary.

The vehicle was not fully cleaned. I had to do a more thorough cleaning the next day. Also they would not give me new tires even after I asked because the tires met the minimum tread level of 4/32. This is like selling me a vehicle at above asking price because I had to change the tires and pay out of pocket a few weeks later. Although Im happy with the vehicle, this will be the last used vehicle I purchase.
This place is like the buy here pay here lot on Matilda. I wish it was possible to give negative starts. They ran my credit multiple times for one application because the rep made a “mistake”. After approved was given the run around for 3 weeks because they made a “mistake” with the title. The lot has less than 10% of the titles for the vehicles on the lot. This cost me $780/ week for 3 weeks to rent a car. Was told they were paying for my $215 lyft ride to the store from LAX. When it was time to reimburse me - The manager - Kevin - blatantly lied and said I’d be sent a check hopefully by the end of 30 days. I was supposed to be reimbursed the day I bought the car. Every single thing about this experience was a nightmare. Kept getting “promised” things that never happened. I’m filing a formal complaint with headquarters. Not to mention … the screen on the car is broken. They neglected to mention that before the car left the lot. I picked up the car via “express pickup” .
Israel was extremely helpfull with getting my vehicle fixed. He kept me up to date on what was going on with any repairs and explained what need to be fixed. Absolutely would go back to this location for maintenance.

I am impressed so far - I bought a car, took it for an independent inspection whereby an oil leak was found so I brought it back to CarMax with the inspection information. They had me leave it there, called me to say that the leak needed a part and would be sent to a dealer. They have kept track of how the repair is going. I am glad they took this seriously and will make sure the leak is fixed. Everyone at Car Max has been helpful.

On February 2, 2021 we purchased a Yukon XL from CarMax in Murrieta. We paid cash. As of today (June 22, 2021), we still have not received the title for the vehicle. Not only that, the temporary registration has expired. We’ve made several inquiries with the business office and have only been told they’re working on resolving it. We are so frustrated knowing we paid CarMax title and registration fees and after nearly five months we have no title and are driving a vehicle with expired registration.
They made the selling of my car and the finding of a replacement very easy and simple. The Shipping from another location was very quick as well.

This is the second car we purchased through CARMAX. When it was time to either trade in our car or sell it, I went online to Edmunds to see what my car was worth. A CARMAX printable quote came up, and I was surprised to see Carmax offered a very good deal for trade in. We were still not sure if we wanted to go new or used on our next car, So I checked with a new car dealer. After seeing the new car we liked, they looked at our trade in vehicle, and they low balled us! That was all it took for us to leave, and decided CARMAX is the way to go! The sales reps at CARMAX were wonderful, the trade in process was straightforward and they honored the online quote, and the financing and other options were not subject to high pressure sales. CARMAX is how a car buying experience should be! Take a lesson, New Car Dealerships!
