Always helpful... bought my Glock there...very patient when selecting what model to buy... as of today 8./2 they have ammo....they are limiting how many boxes on some caliber. they have 9mm

Drove 95 miles to pick up any Glock 17, and while I was waiting for them to get it, I was checking out their other inventory.I saw they had 44 special and 44 mag ammo, which I needed and a sweet Colt Trooper MKIII. Guy came back and I signed the paper work. After he put my G17 into its case and bid me farewell.I asked if I could pick up some ammo on the same DROS, as is customary to any other gun shop I’ve been to when picking up a firearm. I was told that I could not and so I left.Kinda hard to support a business when you aren’t allowed to by the staff. I would have wanted to purchase 2 boxes of 44 Mag and Special, if I had been allowed. The background check for ammo is $1, but my passport was 95 miles away.As cool as the Colt sitting on their shelf is, I’m not convinced the couple drives down is worth it.

These people are honest, fair and all around good people. I went in yesterday and found some Hornady .556 at under $1 a round. We all know ammo is hard to find, and when you do find it, it is outrageously priced these days. They are helpful and have a large selection of stuff. Go here first if you are looking for anything.

This place was completely unhelpful. Went to do a private party transfer and they wouldnt help and said that they would only help their customers. We are customers just because we arent buying one of their guns. And who is to say we wouldnt in the future. We wont now. They have not respect for people. What a disgusting place.

The Shootist is the only gun store for me. I have used them exclusively for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. Their prices are great and they are always willing to help you find what you need. I would, and have, recommend this place to everyone I know.

Ive been shopping here for over 10 years, and have always had a great experience. Randy and his daughter Erin are terrific. The female staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, some of the male staff lack in the customer service area, but they are working on it. Prices are solid and they will match any of the local shops including Turners. I highly recommend taking a look at their selection when looking for a gun.

My wife and I went in this morning to purchase a handgun. Chris served us and was very knowledgeable. Chris made the experience seamless and very easy. The price was MSRP, no big mark-up. Very happy.

I have been shopping here for as long as I can remember. The original gun store in the valley. These guys have been here longer than anyone. Great family owned and operated business. Unfortunately the firearms industry in California is extremely volatile so at times they may have a huge selection and others it may be fairly lean, The same for all the other shops.The staff is always friendly and the prices are fair. It’s always worth a look.

Why buy a gun when you cant get Ammo? They dont tell you that until you spend all that money. 60 cents for 9 mill. Asked about a return policy. Wont return my call. They only sold me a box because I spent 800 bucks..

The selection is alright but the place is understaffed and understocked in a lot of aspects. They also do not I transfers via internet sales.

This place will start losing customers, they will say one thing and do another. You can’t order guns, they say they will give u ammo when u buy a gun then don’t follow through. Every gun in the shop is marked up, so they are basically making you buy a gun that is in the shop and not letting you order a gun. They are taking advantage of this situation. There all snobs in their idk if they are a family or what but they all act the same, like they hate what they do haha. Paid 925$ for a shotgun that I found at ammo brothers for 799$ same exact gun. They will nickle and dime you don’t recommend them at all. Ammo bros in Perris is a solid shop, Just make the extra trip. They will let u order guns and have a better collection, no bs there. I went inn and was out within 45mins. I filled out paper work for the firearm then took test, since i was 1st time buyer, and made transaction. They are atop of there game and had lots of info to share. Thank you Shootist staff for all your hard work in this very hard time for America.

Their selection of guns is nice and they had the one I wanted but the employees there were so rude to me: not wanting to answer any questions, making noises that showed irritation when I asked simple questions like “what’s the out the door price”... that I chose to not buy from them at all.... I’m all for supporting small business but NOT when a small business has small mined employees! Get better

Been here on a few occasions to try to purchase anmo. Got to deal with one nice lady behind the counter but I dont feel welcome coming into the store. Maybe Im the fool for going more than once. Definitely wont see my money again. I live in Murrieta but would rather drive 35 miles to another store where I feel good about spending my money. Came in to buy some ammo, which I did, but the person who helped me only looked at me and waited for me to say something. I was confused at first and stared at him anticipating a response, but there was none. But in the end, he did help me get my ammo!

My Boyfriend Bought his first firearm from here. He brought it home to find out, he was over charged over 100$. The firearm he bought was from the 70s, and was charged brand new out of the box prices. Price Gouging during this pandemic is unacceptable.

Really, really disappointed in trying to purchase a firearm for my husband, a veteran and firefighter here.On the businesss Facebook page it says call us!TWENTY-EIGHT PHONE CALLS in the middle of a business day. I was like, lets see how many times I can try.Not one answered. Not ONCE.Guess we will take our $1,000 purchase elsewhere 🤷‍♀️

Bought some ammo, but after getting home I noticed the price I was charged vs the price listed on each box was different. Receipt showed a dollar more charged on each box of ammo. Price is boldly marked on each box. Doubt this was an honest mistake. Nevertheless, looks like I’m going to find a new gun/ammo shop.

Decent gun selection but if you know your stuff they have a very cold attitude. Ive gone in their store at least a dozen times and used them for a transfer and also bought a rifle among several other purchases. You really have to help them be friendly. The younger staff are fine for the most part. However If youre a cop they might give you a kiss and a free gun. My only pleasant experience with them was when I told them I worked armed security(I really do). Use them to handle the guns and go buy them at turners.

Extremely poor selection along with less than motivated staff to answer questions. They just wanted to chat it up with the regulars and seamed not interested in selling weapons.

Dawn and Erin were incredibly helpful in getting a gun registration transfer completed. Another gun dealer in the area was either unwilling or incapable to do the transfer. I called on a Thursday and spoke with Erin. She was incredibly kind, thorough, and helpful. Came in the very next day and Dawn took over an hour with me to complete our gun transfer. Future business will be coming here. Mom and pop stores are worth your consideration! Their knowledge and service far surpass that of the corporate store.

Went in to initially purchase just a Shotgun a couple months ago. Staff avoided eye-contact for the most part, and pretended to look busy. I finally caught one guy staring at the wall and proceeded to ask a few questions about the gun I intended to purchase. It was apparently out of stock and I politely asked if I could give him my number so he could notify me whenever it came in. He said No, just come in with a dismissive tone, I then asked if he knew when the next shipment would come in and said No never taking his eyes off the wall throughout this whole exchange. I took my money elsewhere and found a fantastic shop to continually empty my wallet with no regrets.

My husband and I have bought several rifles from The Shootist as well as my 9mm and lots of ammo too. Weve been completely satisfied with every purchase. The staff has always been very helpful, patient with my questions and knowledgeable.

They even worked with me on a payment plan for a rifle and when I couldnt purchase the rifle, they refunded my money. Top notch service!! This place is the BOMB! Everything from cowboy guns to hunting rifles and they even have ARs!!! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff that is always willing to help with any questions you may have. I am a seasoned gun buyer and owner that has lived everywhere from Colorado to South Carolina and you would be hard pressed to find a better shop. This place has it all!

I have no idea of the other good reviews, because every time Ive been to The Shootist I get service from a guy who makes me feel like he doesnt want to help me. Do they not want me to buy something from their shop? Or maybe its because Im Asian? Its not like Im dressed in rags or have an appearance like I cant buy anything! Or maybe they think theyre so big that customer service isnt really a concern anymore! This is the LAST time I will pay any patronage to The Shootist, Id rather drive 30 miles to a different gun shop that realizes that customer service still matters.

I went in to pick up a gun I purchased. I called ahead to make sure it was available. The man who answered was short with me which frustrated me until I came down to the store. His reason for trying to get me off the phone? He was helping a woman who had her guns stolen from her home. He was very helpful and patient with her requests. I will be coming back. These people are solid individuals.

I walked in and told them what i was interested in. They pointed me in the right area and i looked around. In and out in less than 45 minutes. I hate the California 10 day waiting period. No one had egos and everyone acknowledged me.

Did a trade; they gave me a fair price for my trade which I replaced with a new Glock. Very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this shop to all.

Love this place

It seems that some of the employees have people skills and some dont. I have overheard conversations where the salesperson is talking down to the customer and treating them like a child, but I have yet to experience that directly. The six or seven times I have been in there have been OK.

This is my store. Nice group of staff. Friendly and dont make you fell stupid for asking questions. They dont try to talk ouy out of what you are looking for if they dont have it just to try and sell you something off there shelf. If they dont have it they are more than happy to get it for you.

Went in to ask about a handgun i was interested in, spent 25 minutes at the counter and no one even acknowledged me. After flagging down someone, they quickly dismissed me for a private coworker conversation. Their hand gun selection is poor, their arrogance is overstocked. That was the firs and last time I ever set foot in their shop. They obviously have no need to grow their business. Steelwater, Faith and Turners it is for me.

Bought a Mossburg 590 12 gauge shotgun and it couldnt have been a better experience. Sure, they dont greet you right when you walk through the door but thats because they are busy educating customers, answering questions, filling out paperwork, etc. Its a gun shop....not a restaurant. I went in knowing very little and left with the right gun for my needs and the ability to safely operate it. I am going to buy a S&W 9mm on Monday and the last thing on my mind is where to buy it...as far as I am concerned, its the only gun shop in California!

I went to The Shootist to shop for my first gun after discovering that Hemet has nowhere to purchase a handgun. BJs Sporting Goods is a joke. I went in and they literally had 10 guns in the store and nobody seemed to care that a customer had walked in. When I went to The Shootist I was almost immediately greeted by Bob who reminds me a bit of my hunter/fisherman uncle. A bit gruff at first, but actually a very knowledgeable and helpful guy. I like the no nonsense sales approach, allowing me to choose what I wanted to look at, instead of shoeing me a bunch of guns all at once overwhelming me. It was a laid back and comfortable experience. Bob made the intimidating experience of buying my first firearm hassle free and easy. Not to mention quick. The prices are reasonable and the store, although not huge, is well stocked. I will be going back in the future for all my gun purchases whether it be ammo, accessories or a new firearm. I recommend The Shootist to anyone looking to buy a new firearm.

This place is real rude their is a fat lady who bossed us around like they are going to get in trouble. Because we children grabbed the rifles by ourselves without the adults grabbing it. Lastly, we have been coming here for 3 to 4 years and nobody has told us nothing until someone tells us something (Never Coming Back)

Its kinda pricy and not a lot of options when it comes to handguns but they have plenty of rifles, gear, and ammo. however the folks who work here are very helpful and willing to help you find what you need.

HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!Bought a gun holster that turned out to be wrong size, tried to take it back to exchange it but had lost the receipt. They would not even exchange it without the receipt. It was in the original packaging and could not tell a difference between the one I had vs. the one on the shelf but still didnt care. Glad it was just a holster but still...buy my guns elsewhere.

I was there one day and got no service in the 20 minutes I was there, but did overhear a store employee encouraging a patron (who was was expressing his over the top fear of dogs while riding his horse) to shoot to kill anything that approached him or his horse. Really ignorant and unacceptably irresponsible.

I have been going to the Shootist for a couple years now. I think I am on my 6th weapon from them. Its very easy when I walk in to the shop and have people who are willing to help me. One of the reasons I will always buy from here is because if I ever have a problem with any weapon, they will always take care of me. Staff is friendly, and great with people who just want to look, and gain knowledge. Most current pistol is in DROS as we speak. (Taylor & Co 1911) . CANT WAIT!!!!! DARN CALIFORNIA!

Terrible customer service! Stood at the counter looking at an upper from a distance and after 15 minutes a staff member approached my end of the counter. I asked the price and he flipped over the tag and before i can ask to hold it, he walked away without a word. I walked out and I will not return.

I tried this place after a neighbor and friend recommended them. I read the 1 star reviews but decided that Id take it under advisement but stick with the personal recommendation. Now first thing to note they are BUSY! If youre trying to get in and out you need to speak up and be heard or they will assume you are browsing. Everyone was helpful but Will was especially helpful in explaining and answering all my questions. First time in I picked up a stripped Anderson ar15 lower. I have been back 5 times and have purchased a pistol and ammo from them. Glad I came here and tyvm for the great service. To the people complaining about being pre-judged its in your head. I walked in wearing flip flops and shorts and was greeted with respect and smiles!

They have good deals on firearms and a good selection of consignment gun. Most of the employees are nice, but you totally get the elitist vibe from a couple of the older employees

Ive visited The Shootist now over the past two years about 20 times or so. Everytime I leave the store with my husband we find ourselves talking about how they handled our complaints (when weve had them), our service on our guns, even getting us consecutive S/N guns hard to find anywhere else in Calif. Just last month we had a major problem with a cracked frame on a weapon that was purchased for me as a gift before the holidays. The owner and Steve helped us. They never once made me feel I did something wrong to it like another gunshop in the valley told me. They sent my gun back to the factory and called us this week to let us know they were replacing the frame with a new one. They once again exceeded my expectations! My husband also gives the guys his wish list every few weeks and theyll keep us posted when they get in used guns we like to buy for our collections. This is a cool old-school type gun shop that you normally only see in movies and is a must visit destination! After trying the other stores here in the valley just out of curiosity we will never go anywhere but The Shootist and maybe Bass Pro when were in Vegas.

Easily the worst retail experience I have had. I originally decided to buy due to the 30$ price reduction on the gun I wanted. worst 30$ headache of my life. have been in three times since my purchase and each time they tell me I need another piece of paper to prove who I am due to a recent address change I was told would be no trouble at all at the time of purchase. It takes about 5 minutes each time I go in just to flag someone down to talk to me as they all seem to be involved in their own conversations to bother with customers. One of their salesman was so engrossed in the bore of the rifle that he did not even bother to look at me through our conversation and kinda just wandered off. I now get to go back to the DMV for a second time and get yet another form to prove I am who I say despite the background check coming back clear. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!

Average selection of weapons at prices that arent ridiculous. My issue is the service, or lack there of. The staff clearly isnt interested in customer service and they do not attempt to hide the disgruntled attitudes. Unfortunately their attitudes will give first time gun buyers a bad taste of the gun industry.
