Great little location right in historical downtown Morris. We stopped here after dropping our car off for an oil change down the road and couldn’t be more satisfied. I ordered the carnitas omelette with tortillas and hash browns in the side. Of course, adding some ketchup and hot sauce add great flavor! The pricing was very reasonable as well. For myself, wife, and son it was around $30 with tip!We have been told that the lunch here is also great, will have to try that eventually!
We had brunch/snack at Weitz Cafe on Saturday at around 11a.m.We shared an appetizer with goat cheese, avocado, red onions + balsamic vinegar, + it was delicious! Our server was so nice; she even offered to bring a bowl of water for our Dachshund (we were seated outside, in the alleyway.)We were disappointed that mimosas aren’t available til noon.Mornings = mimosas, am I right!?I hope this changes soon!
It was beautiful inside but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Sloppy Joe and it was pretty much ground beef with a lot of onions and a little seasoning. My son ordered a sandwich which he enjoyed and we both ordered Cole Slaw but his container was much larger than mine (which I thought was a little odd). When I took the first bite I winced, the slaw was very tart. Im not sure Ill go back.
This place is a solid five stars hands down! The service is incredible, the coffee is exquisite, and the location is welcoming. The girls helping us at the counter order the very best lattes they have were much more than helpful, they gave suggestions and general ideas to make this experience the best.I have a special shout-out to Mikayla the barista who took care of my coffee and made it “with love”, how sweet!!The music inside is also worth mentioning since it really made for a lovely time sipping away at my latte that really was tasty. My only thing is I wish it was open longer than 3pm because I would be able to come out here much more often if that were the case. Other than that, it is absolutely worth every penny for the delicious coffee! I have yet to try the food, but that might be a next time ordeal because I certainly will be back!
The Hogger is a must try, so good! It’s a big meal that could easily be shared by 2. The Gravy is on point so trust you will like the biscuits and gravy. Staff was great and the place is very cozy!!
Ive seen many signs for this restaurant around town and decided to give them a try. Friday afternoon for lunch I tried the egg salad sandwich. It was good and it came with their homemade chips. Service was good, friend staff and order was ready pretty quick. IMO the homemade chips had too much seasonings. I will be back to try their pancakes, those looked delicious.
Food was OK. Service was basically non-existent as we had to flag down other waitresses to get anything. Plus the cook kept sending her back out because she kept forgetting to ask the basic questions, such as how we would like the eggs cooked. Also as someone else stated, dont sit in front of the A/C units. They blow directly on the table and will freeze you and your food.
Decent breakfast. Selection is about average. Not a real wow effect on any particular breakfast item. Seems to me a bit pricey for what I ordered in comparison with other local restaurants. Honestly ranks about #4 or #5 in town for me personally in comparison to other options in Morris. In all fairness I have only been here twice. Unsure if there will be a third time. Gets very noisy when getting above half seating capacity. Definitely not bad...more of a mediocre experience for me on the 2 visits.
The wife and I stopped in for lunch today and we were appalled by the customer service. A girl yelled across to sit where ever we wanted... And that was the last communication we had with anybody. 2 servers passed us 5 times with no acknowledgment. No hello, no be right with you, no offer of drinks. Then one went to clear a table, very slowly, with no regard to the thirsty couple patiently waiting. After about 10 mins we left.I understand that most places are short staffed these days and I am patient with the folks that do work, but greeting your customers takes no time or effort at all.
Not good. Started with a dirty table even after they washed it. Lip stick and some type of sticky stuff on the coffee cups. They brought us the wrong food. When we finally got our food it was cold. The waitress was very nice its so loud inside you cant hear yourself think .We went somewhere else for breakfast and will not go back.
Just dont sit infront of the ac units. Great food and fast.
Out door dining.. while it lasts. Good food.
A beautiful little shop with amazing food and wonderful personnel! Will definitely return the next time Im in town!!!
Went in for a snack, came out with a full belly!Started with the sensational sauerkraut soup, ordered two servings of meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans, a chocolate shake, and a warm fudge brownie!Service from Pam was heart warming. Low prices, decent portions, real yummy food. Dont forget to read about the history on the menu!
Well there are 9 tables here and on that day there were 5 servers. We had to go ask for menus 15 minutes after entering and sitting. Then 10 minutes later had to walk up and ask for a waitress to take our order. The waitress was rude like we were bugging her for her time. I gave 2 stars cause food was fine. Until they fix staffing issues I wouldnt go back.
Worst service I have ever received, got there wasn’t greeted or anything. Stood there for 10 min, wasn’t given a menu, got our coffees and 20 minutes later our cream and sugar. Got our food and no silverware until we asked, both coffee and hot cocoa had something floating in it. Food was cold and over priced. Taste rate would be 2.5 out 5. Oh yeah and 3 packs of ketchup for 3 people with hash browns.
Great modern, high quality, homemade feel good food. An essential stop when stopping by downtown Morris.
Reasonable prices. Good food. Great service. Great small town atmosphere. Do it!
I ordered the custard cinnamon French toast.I received pancakes.End of review
Good food. Family oriented.
I enjoy Weits but find the prices a little steep.
Very different from what it use to be. Friendly service and good food.
Quality food, friendly service. Outdoor seating on the side of building with music from a speaker. We had the herb chicken wrap and Reuben. Both met my high standards. Comes with choice of chips or coleslaw. Chips are homemade and not greasy. Cant wait to go back to try the other items on the menu.
One server. Long waits. Extremely forgetful of order. Pricey for morris. 2 other girls just standing around while one server.... wont return.
Service is great and the food is fast but really really good. There is a waitress there her name is Cheyenne and she is such a angel.
They have some unique menu items that are delicious-Avocado Toast. Friendly staff and enjoy being able to have a mimosa with breakfast!
Had the reuben. Very nice, the meat was tender, good balance of kraut and meat. Sauce was a little bland, but that is my only negativeSecond trip, excellent breakfast of the chorizo scramble. Chorizo was slightly crispy, perfectly cooked. Excellent portion size. Strongly recommend visiting Weitz Cafe.
Been here a number of times over the past 20 years. It has had a complete remodel and is still is a great place to eat. Had a good breakfast this morning with great coffee.
Really enjoy their food. Homemade food in a cute atmosphere and welcoming staff. I highly recommend!
Food was very good. Service was very slow, but girls were friendly.
Nothing to absorb noise so it was very loud and they were out of alot we wanted. Ill try again but in my opinion not worth the money
The worst service possible almost. Waitress left in middle of our dining. We were just sitting there. Bad.
I placed an order for delivery and the lady on the phone was SOOOOO nice and was joking around with me! The food came so speedy AND they gave me way more then i expected! Love supporting local and they are my new favorite go to!!!!!
Delicious food, cute place to eat at.
My Rum Punch was Delicious.
Great service and good food
It was my first dining experience at Weits Cafe. I had the Friday special which was a double smash burger with goat cheese served with a side of Cole slaw and I think homemade potato chips. My only complaint is that my iced tea was served in a very small glass and when I asked for more my server told me there wasnt any.
For cyclists riding the nearby I&M Canal trail, there’s no better place to stop for fuel! We had ridden 30 miles from Ottawa and desperately needed all the food, and Weits provided. Big portions, high quality, friendly staff, and plentiful outdoor seating. The neighboring alley and sidewalk is set up very socially distanced. We were extremely impressed by the gourmet coffee and LOVED the Hogger breakfast burrito and Fancy Schmancy grilled cheese. We will be back on another bike ride!
Try the Hogger burrito. Amazing to my taste buds and big enough for two.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Terrible experience-it took an hour to get our food, though they said they were short staffed. Our food was burnt and very bland. The waitress was rude and wouldn’t say you’re welcome after I said thank you several different times.
Great food and great atmosphere! Everything was delicious. So nice to have a place to stop in and have a good bite to eat for lunch downtown.
As soon as you walk up you are greeted with a modern aesthetic that makes you feel like you are in the big city. Apon entertaining the cozy feeling and high energy atmosphere makes you want to bring more friends. The menu is simple yet appetizing and the staff is open to customize the options for you.The pricing is pretty on point given the location and portion sizes. I would recommend this place for a high energy breakfast or a good luncheon with friends.
Great coffee, food and overall nice people. i hardly go out to eat with three kids during the covid but one of these days ill make it there again! The iced coffee was amazing! Love the grilled cheese and homemade chipsMy mom and I brought my kids for lunch the iced coffee still amazing and good food!!! Very clean 😊
Great food. Nice experience
I got the corner beef hash. Its like they put potato chips with the corned beef. The hash browns are way to hard and extremely salty. There were no soft bits of potato at all. Terrible but im sure the dog will enjoy it.
This place is not for us! We went in during the Corntine Fest around 2 pm. We wanted to order the half sandwich half soup Wed special well the first three sandwiches we wanted they were out of and then we said okay. Then we were just standing at the counter waiting to order but the young women behind it was talking to another woman sitting at the counter ignoring us. We stood their a bit and then my daughter went to the bathroom. I finally said excuse me do we need to sit and order she said yes. So I sat down and no one came to the table. My daughter was back now sitting when she came with the menu I said we are ready to order. My daughter ordered a iced green tea and she said they were out of green tea at that point we left. We decided the wait to order, the lack of customer service and the lack of anything on the menu being available was not worth our time. I hope this place is better on other days and we just had a bad experience we ended up eating at another place.
I had to push a star to just right on how bad it was. The make over was great the new look the atmosphere the waitress but for 30 dollars for a 2 egg breakfast with taters and toast was 9 bucks. Which was under cooked had to go back. I had an omlete was 11 bucks cold taters and no toast. Yup never going back.
Service poor. One waitress for entire place while 2 others just stood around. Food mediocre. Greatly disliked the corned beef hash
Good place to eat downtown Morris Illinois.
Food was good and staff is friendly.
Delivery was quick, chicken wild rice soup was delicious! Sloppy Joe was ok
I ordered a grill cheese sandwich. For 7.00 it was a waste of money. It looked like something you would send to school in a childs lunch box. My wife had an excellent chicken salad wrap.
Total rip off..small but expensive burgers with no chips..no fries..and only ketchup and mustard as condiments..we will never be back
The style inside was simple and welcoming. Food was fantastic as well as the coffee. Well done!!
Delicious chicken salad and great service! Its a very cute cafe!
We ate outside and it was beautiful. The food and service were great.
Amazing. Best brunch around.
Excellent food and excellent staff!
Great place!
Food was decent but service poor. Late delivery of carry out order, the side to my sandwich was wrong and the cashiers and wait staff did not wear masks.
Delicious breakfast, prompt service, great coffee, and lovely decor. We cannot wait to go back!
Great breakfast, nice atmosphere
Great food! Great addition to downtown Morris!
Freshly made corn beef made daily. Excellent Ruben!!
Food is fantastic n everyone is super friendly
Good food service was good and friendly. I will return
Great as usual! Thank you for another great meal. Staff is awesome and prices are dirt cheap. Love this place
Hot beef sandwich was bad. Was not the original one we had before. Prices to high.
The locals like to keep it a secret. The food is very good homemade style and relatively inexpensive. The hostesses make you feel like youre part of the family. So if you want a HomeTown Style with no frills no thrills just good food than this is THE place to come. Pies are awesome!
The old weitz cafe was better. The new weitz over priced and not the same .
Very good burgers,yumm
Glow service and food was just so so
This little restaurant is quaint, but I remember it from my childhood and its still just as good. The menu seems pretty much the same, the lunches are the same and seem to be cooked the same as way back when. Good value and delicious food.
The food is good, but it’s a little old and run-down. Not that it matters; it just doesn’t seem like the cleanest place. Staff were a bit rude. Waitress asked how much we were going to tip her. Another waitress was sitting at a table passing a cup between her hands and I don’t know if she was on break but they seemed understaffed. They also only had 2 menus so we had to share.
Sweet little colorful cafe with decent food. It is the place for letting calls to come and share morning coffee and chatter. We never miss breakfast here when coming to town. Fast and fun!
Good food, great price, love the old school diner style. The simple nostalgic comfort food experience is just the thing to make the day good.
Janice is the friendliest, hardest working waitress I have yet to come across. Treats everyone like family. Job well done, Sweetheart!
Nice home feel. Good food. Excellent service
Great little, hometown cafe...great food, great waitress, great prices..lotsof delicious food! The same quaint place I have known, since growingup in Morris 60 years ago..You will love the cozy atmosphere!
Great place to eat! Watch out for Pam, just kidding. She was excellant!
Good food and service
Friendly homemade food. Happy Great Service.
Wont go back here. The two waitresses were arguing. Th e blonde lady seemed as if she didnt care if she had a job. Half Th e stuff on Th e menu they dont even have anymore. Super fake food. The waitress that helped us was very rude.
Not very with the foid or service today. Did niot like oil taste in fries kinda,of like old oil. The waitress took five minutes to come acknowledge me as she was in the back room and I was the only customer. When i did get food she sat playing on her phone and had to yell for pie. The cream pie was lukewarm and not as tasty as I had had there before. The atmosphere looked as if it needed cleaned up and updated. I probably will not go back.
Great food and love the waitress..the place reminds me of the diner off the Roseanne show😂👍
First time there its kinda like a mom and pop place, like everyone knows everyone friendly good food and cheap. We will be back.
Friendly staff, good food, great prices. Older building not really handicap accessible.
Great food, great prices awesome people always stop in this diner when visiting down town Morris!!!
Great food with a small town feel. To bad they are closing Apr 30th 2019.
Very friendly. Good honest food. Kitchey atmosphere.
A few years ago on a road trip my friends stumbled upon this little restaurant. It has since remained in my mind as the best breakfast cafe I have ever been to.We even stayed an extra morning so we could circle back and eat here again! The prices are outrageously low, and their food is all home cooked and super good. There is a local following that goes here so this review isnt for them because if they havent come here yet, thats on them, its too late for them. But for the person that is just a little bit too far away, or someone coming home from Chicago, you need to stop here.5 stars again and again.
Nice small town friendly experience. Clean surroundings, cheery waitress, and good homemade food.
Good food in a very comfortable setting, the staff is exceptionally friendly and the prices are virtually unbeatable!
Love this place with friendly waitresses, good food and with a home feel place.
