My car broke down over the weekend and I had it towed to this location. My car was recalled so they recommended that I got to the dealership. They went above and beyond to make sure I got the service I needed even though they could not help with the car issue. Will be using them in the future!

Ive been going to this place for years. Family owned, long time mechanics, fair/ honest pricing & quality work you can trust. I wouldnt take my car any place else. I even get great referrals from them if I need other specialized work eg. Transition, tires, etc to other fair & trusted shops.

Some things require trust, that is why I only take my vehicles to Advantage they have taken care of me and mine for over a decade.

My car needed new front brakes and the job was done efficiently, quickly,and without fuss. I had a very bad experience and I prefer not to talk about it. Too many red flags indicated that it wasnt the right place for me to trust a mechanic with my car. Their management needs urgent attention by the owners and their assigned managers.

Very nice facility, clean tidy, pleasant and efficient receptionist, but they wont be getting my business in the future for two reasons. Having worked as a mechanic at a Chevy dealership years ago, I called them to inquire if they had all the welding and bending equipment to fix a small exhaust leak. I was assured that was the case, as their name implied, Advantage Auto Repair and Muffler. So I made an appointment, was taken care of in rapid order. I was informed the muffler has to be ordered and that a weld to the pipe would not solve the problem. I agreed with their assessment... but was not pleased that a muffler shop had to order the part. Add insult to injury and a 2nd trip of my time, back to the shop for the final repair, I was charged for the look see, which they refused to credit towards the original price assessment of the repairs. After 30 years of going to mechanics...thats a new one on me. No problem, Ill just take my business elsewhere in the future.

These people smog my car and they charge the best price around. They are good local people. If I was looking for a mechanic I would feel good about taking my car here.

Mary was a sweetheart but other than that, one of my biggest issues wasnt fixed. I came in complaining of my brakes fluttering and skipping and a loud clunking near my front right wheel. They fixed the strut and fiddled around with the brakes and such but no sooner did i pull out of the lot my ABS light was on and STAYED on (previously it flickered VERY rarely) and my brakes were slipping even worse than before. They said theyd have me bring it in to look at it for free but wouldnt repair it unless i paid more (i had already taken a loan out to get over a grand worth of repairs done). Its been nothing but stress.On top of that, my husband has asked initially if they offered a shuttle service so i was stuck waiting around with my 3 year old daughter. They initially said there wouldnt be an issue. Upon arriving i was told they only drive people within 1 mile. There has been nothing but a lot of miscommunication. I dont suggest this place at all.

Ive taken my 2 cars there for years. Best mechanics in town. Honest, and truly care about the customer.

Took our car there after it broke down on a drive, they fixed the issue but it broke down again the same manner. Had it towed to nissan (it was an xterra) and they diagnosed the problem. Advantage reimbursed us for the additional cost of the work that Nissan did to fix the original problem with the car. Great customer service and understanding from them. Thanks!

I went to this automotive shop based on other reviews, but did not have a good experience. I needed to get my car smogged, but the check engine light was on. This has happened numerous times in the past and previous mechanics have never found anything wrong and were able to clear the fault. Advantage found an Evap fault, which I believe was legit. When I got the call, I was given a long explanation involving solenoids, systems, etc. and finally talking about a cap and $190 for parts and labor. It was worded in such a way that it was hard to understand and sounded very technical and I just needed to get my car smogged so I could register it. My mistake for not being more thorough. Turns out all they did was replace the gas cap for almost $200. Then they had to do the drive cycles to set the test monitors for it to be smogged, but they were not able to accomplish this and told me to go drive my car around for a few days and then come back for the smog (In all fairness, others have said this is not all that unusual). Not likely. I took my car somewhere else and learned that because my car is not registered in Monterey County, it needs an enhanced smog test, which they could not do and informed me that only one other place can (not Advantage). So, unless I’m misinformed, it appears Advantage couldnt smog my car anyway, but they never bothered to ask me where my car is registered. Bottom line is that the person I dealt with was incoherent on the phone, doesn’t know to check the gas cap before spending a bunch of time in the engine and doesn’t bother to get customer information directly related to whether they can perform the service or not. Or, they just ripped me off. Okay, I should be more diligent in my inquiries and understanding what work is being done to my car. Fair enough. It would be nice to just take your car to a place you can trust and not worry about it, but this business is definitely not that place. My ignorance, lesson learned. Id recommend finding a more reputable business.
