My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at this gelato shop! I’ve spent time studying abroad in Italy and this gelato tastes exactly like the real stuff in Rome, Florence, Bologna, Venice, etc.! I had the chocolate, hazelnut, and vanilla in a half pint. My boyfriend had the coconut and strawberry. They were all amazing that I couldn’t decide which flavor I wanted most. The owner was extremely nice and let us sample all the flavors. He was very friendly and personable! We talked about our travel journeys and where we came from which was so much fun. Amazing looking shop and experience!! I can’t wait to go back. We want to try all their food and pastry options as well as their coffee! If you’re thinking about going here, then definitely do it!

Omg. We stumbled upon this placetoday and the gelato was incredible. But it wasn’t the star of the show. Believe itor not, the lemon sorbet absolutely stunned. It is truly the best sorbet I have ever had. It was so creamy it was ALMOST hard to believe it had no dairy. Go and try it as soon as you can.

We went Sunday after dinner for dessert. Outside tables lined Church Street and it wasnt crowded. Parking was nearby in the Crescent Deck for $2. We enjoyed an apricot tart and chocolate chip cookie and coffee.

Given the rating and reviews at this place, I went with really high expectations for the gelato. I walked in and the fridge on the left seemed to have some really interesting flavors to go (leftovers from previous days?). They had other desserts and the menu, which seems to change with some regularity, had a CBD infused gelato. The place definitely had promise.As I approached the gelato I saw the pans they were in were actually machines that were churning the gelato intermittently; immediately I recognized that the consistency of the gelato looked a bit strange. Typically you expect constant churning in a machine from soft serve ice cream. However, I’ve been to dozens of gelato places in across Italy, all highly rated by thousands of visitors, and I have NEVER seen gelato constantly churned.I proceeded to taste a few of the flavors available tonight (strawberry, pumpkin spice, espresso stracciatella), and was disappointed by each one. At that point though, I felt it was too late to walk out. I had driven my family to this place and they were outside in the car expecting gelato. I bought three cones and threw in a tiramisu.It was an overall poor experience. The flavors weren’t great and the consistency of the gelato was subpar. The tiramisu had too much coffee on it and it didn’t taste very good. It is highly unlikely I’ll return to this place.

The workers were nice, but the shop is a bit pricey. One of the people in our group was incorrectly charged for her gelato as well, which we had to sort out. Also not allergen friendly (just as a heads up to those allergic to peanuts or other nuts)

Vegan gelato and the sorbetto were both so good. Just wish they had more than one option of vegan gelato a day, but Ill take what I can get.

Unbelievable Gelato and hospitality!!!!Run by 2 families. Its an excellent place to be after dinner and we will definitely do this more often. You can also bring a bottle of wine and drink outside.

Benvenuti is one of the VERY few authentic Italian Coffee Shops and Gelateria. Whenever I come here I feel like I am transported back home in Venice, Italy. Their gelato are exquisite, their coffee is Lavazza, their desserts from the croissants to the Nutella crostata are oh so decadent❣️ The owners are just lovely, super professional, kind and friendly. I can’t say enough good things about Benvenuti and it’s staff, especially now that they are going to start having Piadina! The TRUE Italian flat bread. In short, if you want to experience how it feels to be in an Italian town’s piazza and enjoy good coffee and other delicacies, come to Benvenuti!

And if youre not in the hood, you should make a point of going there to get some. Trust me, this is probably the best gelato Ive had in the NYC area!

Really cute shop in Montclair selling home made gelato and some bakery items. The staff was really nice and friendly! I was happy they let me sample too! I had their tiramisu, chocolate, and salted caramel gelato flavors. The best one was the salted caramel flavor! It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The tiramisu flavor was also very good! The chocolate flavor I thought was just ok. I also had their brownies. Everything is alway super fresh! You can tell their baked goods are made the same day. The cheesecake brownie was very good! Their regular brownie with fudge icing on top was very moist, but it was cake like. I like my brownies more chewy and fudge like. I recommend Benvenuti in Montclair!

The ambience of the store is vibrant and it is well lit. The server was very welcoming. There were a few vegan options when I visited the store. I sampled two vegan flavors: mango and matcha green tea, and I ended up getting the matcha green tea. The base for the vegan options is coconut milk.

They dont have alot of flavors but the texture of the gelato is the best in the area for sure and what they have is delicious. Coffee is very good as well, but Java Love down the block beats it.

GO HERE The owner unlocked the doors after hours to make my daughter an amazing strawberry gelato on a warm cookie. Incredible gelato and wonderful people. They close 1 hour earlier that the time Google says they close. My daughter had already selected what she wanted from the online menu. The owner unlocked the doors to us even though they had already mopped the floors. He did this without even knowing about the closing time confusion.

Let me tell you, I went in with no explanations and was blown away. First Ive never even heard of a Gelato, a friend suggested I go try some.This place was clean, and had ppl social distancing which was great. A beautiful young lady whom was juggling multiple tasks effortlessly suggested i try wht they call a Bombelato I believe. Which is made with what Im assuming is the signature donut a Bombolone sliced in half, with the Gelato of your choice, topped with Nutella and warmed.. my mouth was watering. Thanks Francy for the suggestion and great service 😊.

Stumbled upon this place today with my husband a three year old. What a gem! The gelato is amazing and soooo good. Authentic and delicious. Lots of unique treats and had a delicious panini too. What really made this place extra special is how friendly the staff were! That is everything and earned a repeat customer!

Moreover, the owners of the shop are in violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. I was passing by Church St, and I saw a new ice cream shop. I went in and tried vanilla gelato with an espresso shot. It was indeed, amazing. I love it, and I will definitely come back for more. I was in Montclair by chance and I happened to see the italian sign “benvenuti” and wanted to check it out. Owners are very nice and the gelato absolutely amazing. Finally after 8 years in the USA, I was able to find an amazing gelato and felt like I was back home in Italy.

This is the best gelato shop I’ve ever been to in the US. Not only is the gelato authentic and made fresh, but they have Galvanini soda and the best Italian pastries. I love the panini too. So nice to walk down Church and feel like I’m in Europe. Great service too. The owners take great care in their product and in the way they engage and interact with customers. Stopped by not knowing what to expect. OMG!!! The best Gelato outside of Italy Ive ever tasted. Michael the owner was super friendly and offered us samples to try. I am driving back from Rockland County tonight just to get my kids to try it!!! Love this place!!

Only a few months old and very clean, this place serves up delicious Gelato from friendly staff. A little Italian oasis in the center of Montclair, the churned gelati (pistacchio, fior di latte, and even pumpkin spice) are velvety and full of flavor. I would also suggest the coffee cream if you are in the mood for something a bit less dense, or the hot chocolate thats sure to keep you warm through the winter. They have Italian sodas, chocolates, and pastries to round out the experience. I look forward to my next visit!

Visited Montclair from Monroe NY...and foundthis Gem in NJ.....I travelled the world with my wife Rima and tasted great Gelato in Rome....and other wonderful places...We were missing Europe during pandemic...but this gelato is even better then in Rome..paired with an outstanding service and hospitality..makes it superb...Place is spotless...and Roger is going out of his way to make you feel in haven..Thank you...Will be coming back often

I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences here. The recent review of someone saying they are in violation of EOP is false. This is a black owned business with the majority of their staff being minorities. I don’t know if I remember ever seeing someone white working there.

Definitely worth the visit. The gelato was creamy, delicious, and perfectly portioned! They have many interesting and creative flavors available, and their to-go options are also a great buy. I had the pistachio gelato, and my partner had the spirulina, and both were great. The location and atmosphere are also wonderful. We will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful little spot with great service, welcoming owners and fantastic products. The gelato has such a creamy texture. As a coffee lover it is hard to choose between the affogato and the espresso gelato. The good news is it’s impossible to make a wrong choice.

MY FRIENDS, ROGER HAS DONE IT. This gelato shop has brought something exciting and new to Montclair Church street. Allowing sweets to bring smiles in these hard times. The gelato is SUPREMELY luxurious and delicious for every ounce you receive in the cup. I have had Gelato in Italy (Rome and Assisi) and this wonderful place takes me right back. With the variety of flavors, and diverse options for sorbetto, this location can satisfy the sweet tooth like you wouldnt believe. The staff keep their work surfaces clean and there is a wonderful adherence to COVID -19 health procedures. I will be coming back, and if you havent been, you must go! To Roger and his family that have aided in the formation of this location, bravo!

Can’t go to Italy during the pandemic by plane but you can by mouth. This place has amazing authentic home made gelato that is made on the premises. The owner says they had the gelato machine flown in from Italy; it that constantly stirs the gelato to keep it fresh and creamy. Have tried Fiore de Latte (like a vanilla, perfect with pie), hazelnut, mango, and pistachio. All elevated and fresh tasting. I grabbed a pint to go and it’s lasted in the freezer a few days (glass pint container - returnable for $1 - nice eco-friendly touch). So much for my summer plan to lose a few pounds.They also serve panini. I tried the mozzarella, tomato, prosciutto, tomato - great. Tables outside make it easy to enjoy during the pandemic. Very welcome addition to the Church St food scene.
