When we got there we were directed to a menu that had the close time as 4:30. We ordered 2 orders of waffles and 2 sandwiches. We were told the waffles would take 10 minutes and the person taking my order seemed annoyed. He then walked away and someone else was there who I asked if I could pay for the items and 4 drinks. The bill was $46 with no receipt. Not sure if he understood my question about it but we then began the wait. 20 minutes later with customers walking in and out we were told the restaurant was closing in 5 minutes. My husband asked if we could eat there. They were put out and said fine. After all where were we taking these 2 kids with syrup. We were asked if we wanted syrup fir the waffles that came 20 minutes later. About 40 minutes after we ordered we were handed a to go bag. When I asked why didn’t you tell me you were closing when we ordered he mumbled we have families too. Not sure what that means you are a deli on Monday afternoon. I was not trying to keep anyone from their family just trying to eat the food we could not get yet paid for. Also the same men with families were being inappropriate with a group of young high school girls wearing shorts. Other customers were annoyed as well. We were told we had 30 minutes to eat. They made us feel so uncomfortable we left much sooner and sat on a bench in the sitting area across the street. Where we got to see them lock the door and upset the regulars fir not being open during their normal hours. After seeing how this deli values customers we will not be going back.

Absolutely horrified and repulsed by my latest experience. An employee decided to PURR at me, proceed to cat call on the job in front of his other employees and customers as I was paying for my items. Despite ignoring him, he continued to do this as his fellow employees laughed alongside him. In utter shock that he was doing this on the job, let alone at a bagel store in Montclair of all places.And don’t get me started with the food. I too like the reviewer below ordered toasted bagels with cream cheese. Neither bagels were toasted, nor was there hardly any cream cheese. Quality sub par, tasteless, and comparable to what you find at your local grocery store, if even that.Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse. They tampered with my signed receipt, and decided to give themselves a $5 tip.Disgusting business tactics and food.

The BEST bagels. 10/10. Seriously... go here for that weekend treat. Absolutely delicious, friendliest staff & cleanest store! Im from NY and these are better than anything I have tasted in the city.

Okay bagels, but no sense of organization. Waited 10 minutes on a Sunday morning for 2 toasted bagels & no spread. Bagels we got were barely toasted...I really wish they implemented a better system of taking and responding to orders. We watched our order be made In one minute, and then sit there for far too long before we were called to pay so the “toasting request” was practically negated.There was a crowd of people waiting at the cashier, nobody had any sense of what’s going on, and the transactions we witnessed were often Miscommunicated between the customer and the restaurant. Sad situation indeed. We love to support local businesses, but the standards they set need desperate improvement.

Totally messed up my order and when I went to pay. I didn’t make the minimum 10 dollars for a credit card so he said Don’t you have cash? I said yes but I need my cash but I’ll buy something else to get to more than 10. Then there was a complete mix up with my order. Not going back there again.

I ordered a plain bagel and after I ordered, I noticed the rainbow bagels. I mentioned how cool they were and how Id have to try one the next time I came, and the woman just threw in a rainbow one in the bag for free! She and her co-worker were so friendly and the bagels are good and delicious, so I will definitely be coming back!

This is the spot for bagels. I was in NYC for 12 years and found my favorite bagels once I moved to Montclair and went to Sunrise. They have a great selection and boil them fresh every day. Sandwiches are good and staff are great. Only knock is that you have to check your order before you go to make sure you are taking what you ordered.

I really wish this place was more COVID-safe. Every single time Ive gone there, their staff has their mask down. They pull it up when they are serving customers. If they have COVID, their customers can still catch it through their eyes.

By far the worst sandwich in Montclair. 3rd time in a row that the bread is old, the roast beef was no where to be found in the sandwich and the price was the equivalent to have breakfast on Madison avenue. Avoid this place.

I take a boy I work with who has special needs here and the staff is always patient and welcoming. Today we went in when it wasnt crowded and the man taking our order took the time to talk to him and wait for him to use his talked to answer.

How do you forget the Taylor Ham on a Taylor Ham Egg and cheese on a bagel? They have not gotten a full order correct in the last three times I have gone there. Once asked for a bagel not toasted with cream cheese and they toasted it.

All I have to say please double check what your paying for and what you actually ordered. I understand mistakes happen but not 5 times. It always seems to be the same clerk. I always run in with my toddler in a rush and being trustworthy. Who knows how many times I over paid the 5 times I actually caught it. Well we won’t be going there again there, no shortage of bagel shops in the area. To top this off after I while walking away i was called not a very nice name in Spanish I guess assuming I don’t understand. So unprofessional

This is my favorite bagel place. I live 10 minutes away with like 5 bagel places closer, however I still drive here every saturday for a bacon egg and cheese on their everything bagel. Its amazing. The bagel is the best and the eggs and bacon are always cooked fresh. Just get there early because it gets crowded.

Nice cozy place. Food is a lil high here but is good food so it doesnt matter. Customer service was great and fast can be a lil crownded sometimes.

Some of the best bagels in Essex county definently the best in the bloomfield/mtc area, has always been my top pick for bagels since my parents started taking me here over 2 decades ago, very friendly staff but one problem i have noticed is that even when sunrise isnt busy my orders are frequently messed up. Often times bagels arent toasted when i ask, my girlfriend is vegetarian and theyll often put bacon on her egg and cheese. I have brought this up before with the staff but they have yet to get my order completely correct on a consistent basis which is a shame because theyre bagels are the best in the area.

Good bagels, definitely worth the food. The only reason I’m giving 3 starts is because the service here is so incredibly slow. I’ve been going here for years and I’m finally so fed up with it that I’m posting. The system and layout is not optimal. Everyone ends up crowded waiting in the small area by the cash register to pay. Also there is no easy way to leave this place which is frustrating. You have to fight against the “in” line to leave. Not a great place to go if you’re in a rush for the train. Once I went in for a Gatorade and waited at the cash register for 8min for someone to ring me up...Sunrise, #whyyousoslow

First and last time at this establishment. Was charged $0.14 for each bagel to be toasted. I had two bagels. It was actually a charge on the receipt. Whats next? Am I going to be charged for the wrapper? Terrible business practice.

Its not great the food is very very basic but its a nice location its nice setting the staff is nice the prices are fair.Basically, every time Ive eaten there Ive said to myself this thing right here in front of me is not good, Im not enjoying it, but its good enough and its a nice location and I am enjoying the setting.Just this morning we had time only for a quick breakfast stop so we stoped by sunrise. One of the sandwiches was wrong and the replacement sandwich came out cheese wasnt melted eggs were over cooked bacon was burnt. You know they just had to rush it out of the kitchen. No one back there is really paying attention to the quality of what being put on the plate.Again a nice enough place to sit down but, for sure, the quality of the food is the least important part of the experience.

These people are ugly, rude, nasty and extremely RACIST. Without any reason I can possibly imagine I was told we dont want you in our store when my order was prepared improperly. Unless you do not mind supporting individuals who openly discriminate their customers and treat people poorly based on their ethnicity then I would strongly suggest you visit another shop. This is truly upsetting because I live right around the corner, but I dont mind traveling just down valley road to an establishment that isnt ran by indivuduals so ridiculously narrow-minded.

Asked for a toasted bagel with butter...toasted dark.....the bagel I got...was definitely not fresh...and it barely saw the inside of the toaster...why ask if you are not going to follow 1 simple direction....

I picked up food yesterday around 2pm at Sunrise Bagels. Wont get in detailes but me and my daughter were throwing up all day after we ate. I dont know if the store is under new management as I havent gone there lately but please beware. They served us the meat that was sitting on the grill for at least 6 hours in this extremely hot weather. Please beware. Check your sandweeches before you leave the store. I will never go back and eat there. Dissapointment.
