Kenny at Montclair MotorWerks is an übermensch!I was considering a used Volkswagen offered by a local dealer and brought it in for him do a pre-purchase inspection. Right away, I knew I was in good hands because Kenny is so professional, knowledgable, and honest.He gave me a thoughtful and straightforward assessment of the car, pointing out numerous issues the dealer would never have disclosed, but also left room for me to make my own decision about the sale. We didnt end up doing a mechanical inspection or putting it on the lift (it was a no-go due to poorly repaired accident damage), and he almost didnt let me pay him for his time and advice.Though I live 2 hrs away in upstate NY, I would definitely make the drive down to have Kenny take care of my next German car.

I came in a few weeks ago on a Saturday with an emergency, needing some body work after a piece of the under carriage was damaged. This was after my own dealer wouldnt take me despite all the service I normally had done there. The folks here agreed to help me out despite being busy and quickly made the car safe to drive so I didnt miss going anywhere I had to be that weekend. They were fantastic and kind and were very reasonable with the charge for the service. It was a top notch experience and Id be happy to bring my car there for future jobs as well.

Hello, for clarification, I did not give a higher rating to Montclair MotorWerks because my experience was very limited (renting a truck for a day). The woman who attended me was very knowledgeable about the process, respectful, and professional. So if I base the rating on my experience in renting a truck then this place wouldve gotten a 5 star. BUT, I have not experienced the other services that they have to offer so I rated the place as normal versus meets or exceeds expectations. I hope that this review helps others to be open to doing business with Montclair MotorWerks.

Fantastic service. I took my sons car in while he was home from college. Needed quite a bit of work. They went through everything that needed to be done and more importantly what didnt (in spite of what a dealer had told us) even went around with new tires for as good a deal and selection as you would get at any tire chain. Highly recommend this shop.

Ive been going to Montclair Motorwerks for the past 6+ years and I wont take my cars anywhere else. Ken is honest, professional, super-friendly, and importantly, willing to take the time to explain what the issues are & what my options are. Our large family has a few cars, from a vintage BMW M-Roadster to a run of the mill Volvo V50 wagon...even a diesel. Ken & his team service them all, saving me thousands of dollars over the years. If I want a particular tire or part, Ken will get it for me (or recommend a better/cheaper alternative). I know hes got my back & what more do you want from a mechanic?

Wonderful service!! Took my BMW here and not only were they very knowledgeable, nice and friendly, they diagnosed and fixed my original mechanics mistake in two seconds (something that has been extremely frustrating for a few months). I also had an “issue” with my hard top which turned out to be my mistake. They could have easily bullshited me with extras. Very honest, upfront, efficient and great prices. Thank you!!

My favorite place to get my Oil change done on my Mercedes. They are good and they are fast. Frankie gets me in and out and Kenny runs this very tight and professional all the guys are great. Highly recommend this place for any foreign or domestic vehicles.

Came in on Saturday afternoon, minutes before closing for Labor Day weekend. My tire wasnt holding air. They stayed past closing time to fix my tire, popping the tire off the rim, remounting with sealant, even spraying soapy water all over the pressurized tire to confirm Id be ok for my trip. Got a very fair price, and I happily tipped the service guy for his thoughtful attention. Ill be back whenever Im in need.

Kenny and Frankie run a tight ship...NO NONSENSE! I must have gone through damn near every shop in town and only at Montclair MotorWerks do I believe I found a great mechanic with equally great business ethics. Like others, Kenny is the only guy I will let touch my car moving forward. No need to haggle with him as I found his pricing more than fair. Fair warning if you shop around and someone quotes you even a PENNY less than Kenny, RUN, dont walk to Montclair MotorWerks!

The service was prompt and accurate. I brought my older Infiniti here and loved the service. Within an hour of dropping my car off, I received a call from Ken with a diagnoses and repair cost which I thought were fair. Lived the experience here and would definitely recommend here.

A great experience overall. Courteous service, fair price, excellent work. Brought my 2003 Jetta in for a vacuum hose leak and new spark plugs. Owner Ken made me feel confident and comfortable that he could get the job done at a reasonable cost. Ill be back to service my car here. I highly recommend this repair shop.

Exactly how you need a mechanic to be; professional and courteous.I took my MB GL450 in for a basic service and an estimate on a shock absorber.Ken managed to fit me in very quickly and turned the car around within a day.Great example of under promising and over delivering.A reasonable price and good work done.UPDATE: three years later, Ken, Frankie and the team have proven to be all youd hope for in a mechanic. Theyd get six stars if possible. My original review was in 2013. Today is December 2016. Consistent services and pricing for three years now.

I was taken aback at the honesty and helpfulness of this mechanic. I brought in my BMW after receiving an astronomical quote for replacing a headlight unit from BMW Service. After looking at the problem he explained how much he can repair it for, but suggested that first I should call BMW headquarters to check if the item could be repaired at no cost, since my warranty was just recently expired. I did just that and BMW is considering my case as a courtesy. I am glad I found this place.

My son called me this morning from a gas station in Clifton where he had broken down in his 97 Ford Escort after hitting a pot hole, saying the car would not start. Being an hour away, I had no way of helping him except to tell him hed need to get AAA to tow him to a repair shop. I jumped online and found your business, saw a couple of good reviews, and gave my son your contact info so he could call you before having AAA tow him there. He later called me to say the problem was taken care of, that you had talked him through the resetting of his fuel cutoff switch, and he was up and running with no need for a tow or expensive repair. Thank you for helping my son. It is so gratifying to know there are honest people willing to help others, even when it holds no financial profit to them. I am so appreciative. Thank you.
