We tore down an old retaining wall and decided to go with concrete blocks for the new one. We had an agreement with our contractor to pay for materials and he referred us to Carolina Brick. Our contractor called the order in and my husband called to pay over the phone but asked for a quote in writing. After several phone calls over a few days with the sales rep promising to send the quote in a few minutes my husband decided to drive to Monroe in hopes of getting a hard copy quote so we could pay the almost $5000 for materials and move on with our project. After entering the store he noticed a group of people laughing and talking having a good moment. No problem there. But no one approached him with help. After watching for a few minutes he walked up to the group and asked for the sales rep he had spoken to several times over the phone. The rep identified himself and after my husband referenced the promised quote, the rep said oh sure Ill print that right now... Definitely not a customer-comes-first feeling for us...The most disturbing of events involved Carolina Brick knowingly delivering materials short several pallets of concrete blocks and caps, and gravel after confirming the delivery. After the super friendly delivery gentleman showed us his delivery sheet it did not compare to what we paid for. With my husband and our contractor busy recounting the blocks and caps, I immediately called Carolina Brick. The call went something like this:After identifying myself the employee I spoke with (who turned out to be the sales manager) immediately hit with verbal insults and interruptions before I could complete my reason for calling. He said my employee told me about you... we noticed your delivery was short after the truck left and well get another truck some time today... next time you need something take your business elsewhere... I was standing there mouth open with my husband and our contractor in disbelief! I could not believe how this company representative who had never met me, understood we were a paying customer for materials, was speaking with such contempt. He was so out-the-gate rude I asked if he was having a bad morning. Initially I thought my phone call would be a quick fix for a honest miscalculation. I was wrong and now very upset. As I continued to get clarity, this guy just kept talking over me. When I asked what time the additional materials would be delivered he continued to raise his voice, said he didnt know and abruptly ended the call. No apologies, no call to the driver with a message for the customer re missing materials, no call to our contractor... Just a early morning serving of meanness and rudeness.My husband immediately called back and spoke to the same sales manager and stated he did not appreciate how he spoke to his wife. After several more calls we learned later that afternoon that our missing materials were not going to be delivered because someone called and told them not to and thats why the delivery was short.??? My husband did not call nor did our contractor - the only 2 names involved in conversations with the sales rep and the only 2 names on the written quote and receipt for payment made. So a random person could just call Carolina Brick and say dont send all the materials out I will pick up the rest later...?! We have yet to know what why or how this could happen but did finally receive all the materials we paid for. But, all this was too cloudy not enough transparency for us... Will do as the sales manager requested and take our business elsewhere next time.Only reason for 2 stars is because material quality was good, the driver was exceptionally nice, and we received a refund for materials we did not use and returned as is their policy.

Please heed my warning regarding this company. Very dishonest business. We purchased landscape materials from their York, SC facility and only received partial delivery and they have denied us a refund. They failed to tell us that the boulders we purchased would not be placed where we wanted them upon delivery. Their driver said he could only unload them. We had no way to get 500-1000 lb boulders moved so we sent them back to the facility. Now they are saying they have no record of them being returned (they should have kept better records). I can assure you I have no boulders in my landscape and they still have my $400. I thought going to a locally owned business would mean better customer service but in this case, it was worse.
Met with Bill today and he was the epitome of excellent customer service and knowledge about brick and mortar styles and colors etc.
