Good easy course with Great price point. However felt always backed up for some reason. Need some attention on staff.

This is a great, and challenging course! The pace of play was very solid on a busy afternoon post-Christmas. It was nice that they actually had a starter (and a ranger), which seems to be rare at many public courses these days. The greens are very slick, as well as very tight and challenging with a number of elevation changes. Definitely give this course a shot if you are in the area.

The golf course is an old Donald Ross design with the front 9 having the original Ross Hump back greens making it very challenging! The course could be a real treasure if they would just put some money into it.

I love Monroe Country Club. The age (and mammoth size) of the trees takes you back in time. The greens are great. And taking shots # 2 & 3 from the tufted bermuda grass (I often hit to the fringes of the fairways) makes it so much easier to get under the ball.I recommend this golf course anytime, but especially on a Saturday afternoon for an enjoyable pace of play.

Drove from Hickory to play this course on 7/18/2020 and we werent disappointed. I have been reading and hearing all about Monroe CC for a couple years now and decided to make the hour and 45 minute ride on a Saturday morning. We had a 9:20 tee time, $50.00, the starter was very professional and nice and gave us a few pointers since it was our first time there. The course was in really good condition despite the heavy rains the night before. The mini-verde greens were soft underfoot due to the rain but the speed and condition of the greens were in no way short of almost perfect. Fairways and tees were in good shape as well. We will definitely go back to play this course again soon.

Evan at the pro shop was easily the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with at any golf course. Very unprofessional and disgustingly rude. I highly recommend not playing this course. We had a 4 o’clock tee time and he told us we could not play 18 holes after we finished 9 at 5:45 pm and wanted to pay for an extra 9. Never been at a golf course where this was a problem. The sun sets at 8:30. After I proceeded to ask for his manager or the golf pro he failed to give me a business card or any information on who to speak with. Do not waste your time playing this course.. I certainly will not be back and will gladly play at Eagle Chase and other surrounding courses with a great staff that actually cares about its customers.

Had a 4pm tee time and were only allowed to play 11 holes due to a cart cut off at 7pm. It was 6:15pm and we would have easily finished before dark around 8pm. Cart cut offs are for carts going out not when they need to be back in. We were willing to pay the extra 10$ for the 18 round rate yet we had to cut our round short. The guy at the clubhouse Evan also mentioned the cut off for a round of 18 was 4 pm we checked in at 3:53 but then He told us the cut off was 5:30 to finish nine in order to play another nine. I have also never heard of this and I have played at a hundred different courses. The cart guys I spoke too didn’t care if we finished our round before dark, but it wasn’t their rules. We were given the option to finish our round walking, Ive never heard of a protocol at any course that has a cut off time for carts to be brought back in. I will now be playing at eagle chase and Stonebridge from now on where I never have had this problem.

Beautiful piece of property that backs up onto Lake Lee. A white brick historic clubhouse, now used as a ballroom, sits perched on a hill adjacent to the third green. Though understated in its approach, Monroe Country Club offers a purist’s golf experience. Those well-versed in golf course architecture will feel a sense of magnitude at Monroe Country Club due to a traditional routing which places tees and greens in close proximity to each other. This offers multiple vistas and vantage points of the Donald Ross green complexes and his detailed bunkering. The club kept the integrity of Ross’ design with the modern game’s adaptations. Ross’ work demands correct decisions off of the tee and drives that leave ideal angles into contoured and raised greens. The surfaces reward well-struck iron shots and repel poor ones, as sharp drop-offs and steep embankments that flank the greens. “False” cross bunkering and a handful of blind shot created a sense of uncertainty. The back nine, a Tom Jackson design, stands distinct from the outward nine in its length and flatter, though nuanced, and expansive greens. Jackson favors larger and deeper bunkering than Ross, serving as defense to the green complexes, as opposed to dramatic sloping. The maintenance staff keep the course in good condition and the Bermuda greens roll true, though perhaps at a slower pace outside of the summer months. The staff, from the rangers down to club professional Nick Jacobi, are excellent and play moves along at a smooth pace.

I used to use this club for practice for tournaments. Until now. I will use Eagle Chase from now on. I visited this morning they owed me a rainout day. The person that gave me the card asked me if there was a signature on the card which he himself did not sign. Its not about the $27 to play its about principal at this point. So instead of having a PGA associate give you a great review you lose a customer. Good luck to you.
