I’ve sold to and purchased from play it again sports. Usually always have some really great stuff in stock unless it’s sold out (due to seasons or coronavirus). The manager Chris is by far a top notch guy. Dealt with him and his staff but he has gone above and beyond and will always be my go to for any second hand or new sports products. Knowledgeable and always willing to get a good deal out.

They’re selling a used/refurbished rw200 for what it goes for brand new. Lol why try to sell used stuff like it’s new? Just go to Best Buy and get everything for the same price or lower... this business is shady

Excellent customer service at this store and very knowledgeable staff! I went in looking for some home gym equipment but had a very tight budget and between two visits to the store both Mike and Derek worked with me to weigh my options on price vs functionality to make sure I got the biggest bang for my buck. The manager Chris was also extremely helpful and has a lot of knowledge about the equipment they sell. He shared really good insight about small differences between similar items that actually make a huge difference when youre looking for something specific. I will definitely be a return shopper at this store! Thank you for making my quarantine a little more bearable!

I have purchased both new and used from Modesto Play It Again. I purchased a new Elyptical about 5 years ago and used golf clubs and bag a couple of years ago. My latest purchase is a used recumbent bike.I received a very fair quote on my Total Gym and had a choice of consignment, store credit or cash. I simply emailed pictures with a description and they emailed me back a quote. No muss-no fuss. I didn’t have to deal with strangers calling me or coming to me home to see it. It was quick and easy.I love the thoughtful customer service. They are knowledgeable about the equipment and they remember my name. They only sell high quality new equipment and they offer a warranty on the used equipment they sell. Its total “win win”!I highly recommend purchasing and/or selling with the Modesto store based on my prior and current experience.

Just a heads up, the staff does not wear masks. Would not advise visiting if you have a low risk tolerance. I wish I knew before I went in.Also, selection is limited and pricier than needed. Service was not great, besides them not wearing masks.Edit - Response to the response“We try to be respectful of everyones needs and concerns in these uncertain times.”This is false. If they were respectful of customers, they would wear masks. As of April 2021, the community transmission in Stanislaus county is still 16 per 100k, much higher than most of the state of California. Regardless, masks are still required in retail by state and county mandates that are still in place.Because the sporting goods are used, I would bet that most people would want to see the products in person to make sure the quality meets their needs.

I honestly can’t recommend this place... sure the staff is extremely helpful and very kind, but the policy is atrocious.I bought “new” golf clubs on Wednesday did tee time on Saturday, pulled the sleeve off the 3-wood, and as soon as I started to swing, the head flew off without contact! All my fellow golfers were laughing and said “take it back! We are witnesses!” I called Play It Again Sports, and they told me “we can’t take it back because it’s broken.” You sold me broken equipment, and even with a receipt from 3 days earlier, it’s “policy” that you can’t replace even a club???I gave it 2-stars because your staff is a 5, but your policy is a negative 3.So if you need golf clubs, even though $250 looks like a deal, the catch is, they are crummy and you can’t return even if they are faulty.

Full disclaimer: I never visited the actual store. They had a Joe Weider adjustable dumbbell set with bench and stand advertised on Craigslist for a reasonable price. I would have gone to Modesto for it the price was so much better than everyone else, BUT John was cruising with the merchandise in the Bay Area and he was willing to meet me at a convenient location. It was a smooth transaction, I saved on gas and time, and Im already using the equipment. Im happy.

More organized layout than other of their stores, but not as much inventory. Bikes, golf & disc golf, boxing, skateboards, weights.

They had a lot of sports items. We got a sled and snow gear. They were very inexpensive compared to other store.

They have multiple employees not wearing masks, most notably, the cashier. This is what is wrong with Modesto and why we aren’t beating this virus.

Highly recommend going there for all of the sports gear you need. Went in there looking to get my lady some snowboard boots and then ended up getting her a complete new fit from a helmet all the way down to a snowboard. Ask for Chris when you go in. He’s super informative and got us the best stuff at a really good price.

I am so amazed at the excellent customer service, product quality, and delivery speed in my recent purchase of a treadmill from Play It Again Sports in Modesto. I called on Monday looking for treadmill options, when all treadmills are limited at any other store given quarantine, and John was with me every step of the way to make sure I got one that not only suited my needs, but was in my price range and allowed me the flexibility to pay online since I live two hours from the store. It was delivered in two days.. two days!! And the delivery and installation fee was an amazing price too. I wanted it set up upstairs, which he happily brought up with a smile, even though it looked so heavy. It was promptly installed and he gave a great walkthrough of the features and tested it out upon setup. The whole experience was so fantastic and I haven’t experienced that high level of customer service in awhile, especially more so during COVID. I’ll recommend John and Play It Again Sports Modesto again and again! Thank you!

I have been ordering spirit gear and sports gear from Play It Again for the last year. The staff is friendly and ready to help. Being new to ordering for the school I was unsure if what to order and how much. John and Chris walked me through the process and made sure I understood everything and made sure my order was placed and completed in a timely manner. 5 star customer service at play it again sports in Modesto . I called John looking for a new treadmill and they had several to choose from to my surprise . I decided to buy the NordicTrack 8.5s based off his recommendations and my needs .To top it off, it was cheaper than other retail outlets, it was put together for pick up and set out front the following morning . I was in and out in 10 min or less headed home .I couldn’t of been more happy after I tried it out the first time .Thank you Play it Again Sports

Dont trade with this store. Ive heard them brag about low balling a women on some gear last year. Then, today I took a bat to trade or sell. They told me $6 trade in value because they are going to sell it for $15. Funny when I went into the back and look at their inventory, they exact same bat (more wear and tear) for $79.99. That just shows you how much the will lie to your face to make a buck!

I have always had a great experience shopping at Play It Again Sports. Everytime I go in the staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Chris is and always has been helpful and will go out of his way to help. Even though we all would like to get more for our trade in equipment I believe the value set by the staff is fair and come on people they are running a buisness that has overhead and when they price it to sell it has a profit to pay for that overhead (Store, cost of goods, employees, and so on). When you need sporting equipment now then go to Play It Again Sports and they will have it and knowledge to help.

The gym we belonged to in Modesto recently closed. After visiting several gyms, we were disappointed with what we found. We went to Play it Again Sports on McHenry and purchased a Body Solid Gym GB6 from the Owner, Jim Vargas.We absolutely love this gym system! Does more than what we were able to do at the gym and right in the comfort of our home! No waiting for machines at the gym, and no worries about germs, etc on the machines from people not cleaning properly.If you are looking for a great workout, consider the Body Solid GB6. We also ordered the Inner/Outer Leg attachment. The system works and operates very smooth and takes up a relatively small footprint for all the exercises it offers.And most importantly, in talking to John Vargas the Owner, he gave us internet price on the unit and delivered it to our doorstep in Modesto. John offered great customer service on this deal as he has always done in the past with us! Great Store and thanks John for keeping us in shape!

Very friendly service and some good finds. Decent selection. Some things were sorted by price. Thats nice when you have a price point in mind for an item. Other things were all together and you had to fish through them to see what they cost (i.e. baseball gloves and golf clubs). I did not enjoy that and quit looking after picking up several only to find out they cost more than I was willing to pay. Overall, a pretty good experience. I would shop there again.

I just purchased a treadmill happy with the store staff and very happy with the installation tech John. He was so helpful explaining everything about the treadmill including maintenance. I would definitely recommend this store to my friends and family.

They were super helpful. I had purchased a spin bike and had a problem with the pedal that was not covered by my warranty, about 11 months after purchase. They had me bring it in and they fixed it on the spot! Very satisfied. I will definitely continue to shop there!!

The last couple of days for me was bad because my old car had been stolen from my apartment complex and being a regular commuter to the bay area I was forced to get a replacement car immediately (with down payment). Needless to say Im broke.The used stepper I bought from Play It Again about a month ago broke down the day before my car was stolen and finally had the chance to return to the store today to get it exchanged. A nice young gentleman assisted me but unfortunately, all they had available in stock was brand new. I was once again feeling frustrated when somebody whom I believe was the store manager (sorry for not knowing his name), no matter how busy he was with other customers, took time to help me and decided to replace my broken stepper with a brand new one (no charges whatsoever)! That all happened in about 10 minutes. I walked out of the store with the biggest smile on my face!Thanks Play It Again staff! You dont know how great you made my day! John did an excellent job with the orders we placed for our basketball youth program. We ordered basketballs and shirts. He was very professional and friendly. He went above and beyond. He even came down to our facility to deliver our basketballs when the UPS was running behind schedule. It was the first time using his service and it won’t be our last. I have purchased in the past sport equipment from Play It Again Sports and have always been very pleased with their knowledge and customer service support. Just recently I had John Vargas out to service an elliptical for us that had been purchased at their store and although it took a while to order the part, John went all out to make sure I was kept informed as to the status of the shipment and then came out on one of his off days to install the part and get the elliptical working.
