I love this store. Great place to browse for books, cards and fun things for kid to make and do. I always find interesting gifts for Birthdays, Christmas or special occasions.

Many times when I visit Barnes & Noble, they have what I am looking for in stock. However, when they dont it is usually a painless process to order and receive within a few days. Their inventory is pretty amazing really.

Man everytime i come here i enjoy my experience. My daughter needed some study material for a couple of her AP classes. This store had the books in their inventory. They even set them aside on reserve until I traveled there. Once there I found so much more. My imagination was fired. They lady at the counter a brought out my reserved books and even helped me find a coupon in dome of my promotional emails. I encourage you to come see and experience all the material Barnes & Noble has to offer.

They received 4 stars for being an actual bookstore which is amazing in and if itself, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I am devastated that they no longer have chairs to sit in or a coffee shop. It just feels hollow with out those but it is through no fault of their own and hey, they still have books! Manga / reviewWith social distancing still a thing, I dont know why this BN decided to enclose certain sections in a C like pattern. And why are the graphic novels in the same section as Manga, They should be their own section. Thats like putting Astronomy books next to Food Science books because theyre both sciences? and why are light novels and Manga Cont are separated? And then they have select few Manga in the front side a bit. This layout doesnt make any sense, keep it all together so I dont have to go hunting!also, BN needs to implement a no reading rule in the said sections. I know that sounds counter intuitive, but hear me out. Imagine you actually... you know... BUY... Manga. But you have weeb 1 and 2 who doesnt pay for a dime in the industry. They read the entire series not caring for the physical condition of the books and put them back when theyre done. B and N makes no money, The publisher makes no money, and the writer makes no money. All B and N did was act as a babysitter for the parents that just load their kids off to the employees. And then when someone like myself who ACTUALLY BUYS manga has to weed through the books that dont have creased spines, bent pages, or oily fingerprints. If I to buy used manga, Id go to BookOff, Im not paying full price here. I find myself coming here just to see if new volumes are out, or if I something will peak my interest enough to just order off amazon.

Bought a book marker and a new book . The staff is always helpful . Everyone had their mask on and had practiced social distancing too. I wish they still had the entry to a Starbucks. The wall has been sealed and next door its a dreadful tea shop Starbucks and Barnes & Noble was a beautiful marriage in Modesto. And the aroma while youre looking for books next door .... Wonderful.

Always loved Barnes & Noble, I love that you can order books and have them shipped to your home address, its very convenient, the way the store is set up makes things easy to find and fun! The employees are super nice and every times I go I enjoy myself, I love the fact that its close enough to drive to from my small town of Sonora and not be totally out of the way 📚

Nice and cozy place to go find the book you have dreamed of owning for a while, they have educational books, school study books, religious books, and so much more! They also sell bookmarks incase you need one to save your spot when your done reading for the day, the only downfall of all this amazing stuff is it’s very expensive and if you plan buying a books here you’ll need at least 120$ to be able to buy them.

Some of the staff need to improve their customer service skills, the store is at least half the size of most B&Ns, no cafe, and the bathrooms are sometimes closed a half hour or even hours before closing (for deep cleaning).

Great staff and the best collection pf books this side of the Great Divide my friend... In store music can stand to be updated... They seemed to be on a 70s hard rock cycle when I was in the store... Music can be updated by at least half a century...

Usually they have an abundance of books on almost everything. I was looking for books with info on dog training techniques and insight. They had 2 books on training but it was only covered very little.

Enjoyed it more when Starbucks was attached! But, still love going in to Barnes and noble, my favorite book store! 😊

Barnes & Noble was amazing it was my first time going there my baby had an IEP and her teacher said that she really liked the book brown bear brown bear so I answer me called Barnes and Noble and they were so nice to locate the boat for me and even hold it for me walked in walked out baby happy

Great trip, and wonderful help from a clerk. I do wish there were some other options of books for pre readers, similar to the ones in class for my kindergartener but we are gonna try out the Bob books and have our fingers crossed the clerk made them sound great, and with distance learning everything helps.

Price compare one time and see if you ever want to shop at another Barnes & Noble again. I picked up a book that’s sold everywhere at the MSRP of $29. I checked my receipt when I got home, because I was willing to pay a little more for the convenience. $49! Everywhere else profits at $29. This pattern is not hard to find in this store.Head on over to Yesterday’s Books. Get signed up through Bookshop and support the little guy. This corporate rip off joint doesn’t deserve your hard earned money.

Recently it seems that they have redesigned the layout of the store. What once was an easy experience to quickly find my genre and favorite authors, is now an exercise in hunting through the store. While this does offer opportunity to find new authors, which truth be told may be the point, it is frustrating when you are trying to quickly pick up items for yourself or gifts for others. The associates, while present, are not as customer centric as they used to be. They seem to struggle to determine if they even have items in stock. They also seemed to have reduced titles, understandable in the modem age of digital media. But to be told they can order something for you defeats the point of visiting a bookseller. Hopefully they are able to maintain in the new digital age and stay relevant. It would be a shame to see this staple fade away.

Had my 1st book signing there. It truly was a blessing. I have been wanting to go to a book store for the longest time. This one was the perfect one. Its huge, lots of books, cards even a toy section for the kids. I could have spent all day in here just enjoying all the knowledge (in the books) the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There is such a sense of calmness in this store. The staff is super helpful and if I had my way I would have left with a truckful of books. But my check book was running the program so I got a few spiritual books and 2 more decks of Tarot Cards to add to my collection and to help me get some new vibes when Im doing readings. Oh yeah, I got some new Oracle cards too. They are about manifesting, attracting and getting what you want in your life. Right now id say im a Super Attractor! (got it straight from the cards! Lol) I Highly recommend this store. Its not just a book store its an Experience! Namaste

Very clean.. was looking for few books and young girl pointed to wall for each of 3 books. Finally when she realized I was unsure which direction she was pointing she took me over there pointed to each book which i got. Im just curious what happened to customer service where when you ask an employee for help and with a smile they say I will be happy to help you they walk you over to the product or if they nitice you dont feel well they go get the product for you and ask if there is anything else they can help you with. I just feel so many are just not motivated enough to do the correct customer service job.

This is one of my Loves favorite places. She says, even with audio readings a good read is great fully relaxing.

The store was messy books were not neatly displayed, inventory was low! Asking for help was getting help from staff who looked like they didn’t even work there based on their clothing .. I couldn’t tell if they were employees or customers walking around looking like Satan Worshipers in messy, dark gothic attire and it was hard to distinguish employees from customers. What ever happened to professionalism in attire or coordinated uniform to distinguish an employee? I Was afraid to ask for help.By the time I ended up at the check out it looked even more unprofessional. Front end was a lilScattered, low inventory, one of the employees had a gothic mask on with spikes sticking out all huge! attire didn’t look professional at all either. No offense, but the environment didn’t look welcoming, pleasing, neat, or okay. Who ever runs this store needs to bring the light back in to the place. Professionalism needs to be a thing again..Where you don’t have to guess who works there. I think employees should stand out in a positive way that professionally represent The store. Also, the books could use some good dusting!!

Im giving it 4 stars because some employees are very nice and helpful and some others are selfish and not willing to help. I believe that this place should pay more the employees that overachiever. I can spend hours in here if not most of the day. If youre a bookworm, you can understand. Customer service is always amazing and they have a clean store and not to mention that theres a starbucks right next door. I was able to find the two books I came in looking for with no problem, everyone is always eager to help.

Great staff and awesome selection of childrens books. Pricing is moderate, but that is expected. You are also able to find books under $5 if you are on a budget.

People classify it as a chain bookstore, but they are dying off more quickly than locally owned stores who have to always order what you are looking for...if they even offer that service. Seriously...there is no benefit to me having another store order the book for me (its no cheaper and I have to make yet another trip out). B&N always has what I am looking for with someone on staff who is knowledgeable about any topic of interest. You cant get that level of service online or from a mom and pop store. Barnes and Noble hires more locally than even locally owned stores, thereby helping the local economy more! I love this store and all B&N and hope to see their return in a big way!!!

Updated postI originally gave this bookstore a 5 star rating. However, since then my husband had hip surgery and now has a titanium hip. He sets off the sensors walking into the store, walking into the bathrooms, and leaving. Each time store employees follow him(into the bathroom) walking up close to him with scowling expressions. Questioning him and asking him to wait so that they can look at the monitors. Really bad shopping experience. This doesn’t happen anywhere else. Never happens to us at Target. This is Barnes and Noble’s policy. We can’t shop here anymore. Very unfortunate.I left a message for the manager who didn’t return my call. I hope they will soon adapt to titanium replacement customers so that we can shop there.Previous post with previous 5 star rating.I have been shopping at this bookstore for over 10 years. I love this store. There are so many books to choose from and so many great adventures to read about. My children, who are teenagers now have many fond memories of choosing and reading books in this bookstores large area of children and teenage books. I remember going over every educational English and math book that this store has to offer in order to help my then academically struggling child. Barnes and Noble has a huge selection of educational books as well as books for just about every other subject and story. To me, reading books online is not the same as walking through the isles of a bookstore until you feel that one book is calling out to you. That one book which inspires and sparks your interest of adventure or mystery or just plain thirst for more knowledge. I love books and I love shopping for books and this is the best place to buy them.

Great location and views. Very good service although it was so busy, nobody came back to check on if we needed anything after being served. Food was very tasty, and the bread is excellent. Creme brulee was good but cold. I would give them 4.5 stars and would go back.

My wife and I love Barnes and Noble. They have so many books and neat gifts that we enjoy. My wife really enjoys the selection of cookbooks and cooking magazines. I enjoy fiction, craft magazines and books. Some have coffee shops too which is an added bonus. We hope to see this store around for many years.

Its nice really not to many people and unfortunately you cant sit down and read since you know why but other then that its how it usually has been look for the book you want read it a bit take it or leave it.

I went and bought a book light from them. A small sidekick led light that came with two extra batteries. Got home....thing doesnt even turn on. Switched the batteries...still nothing. I hate returning things cause its a drive for me out of my busy day. Wont be going back

Bright, well stocked and the staff is super helpful and friendly. The kids love playing in the childrens area and listening to story times. If they dont have something in stock the staff is always so helpful in searching it out for you. Starbucks connected, a great place to spend a rainy winter day while sipping some coffee and browsing the shelves.

What a great place!!Almost everything in print under one roof and games, puzzles, and so much more.We stopped in for a quick visit, 40m later we left with a few books each.The staff was helpful and courteous.

The aisles have room for someone to get through easily. The paperbacks that I like in front are always discounted. The staff is polite and helpful. I dont feel rushed here but I can find a gift in 20 minutes or less. Convenient locations in Modesto and Stockton.

I would like to say I was very impressed with Barn-nobles book store in Modesto, California how they gave the opportunity to new book authors such as Lindsey Anderson a up coming poet. Which has inspired any author or poet. With her new book ( Destiny called her name)💖

Great bookstore! I love that they have lots of chairs sprinkled around the store. Frequently, the wife and I come here, get a drink from the coffee shop, each grab a book and just hang out at one of the tables. Its a very relaxing environment.

While they of course have a tremendous selection of books, I find myself stopping in more to peruse their ever expanding shelves of tabletop games. Also, one of the few places that has the hobby magazines I like on the shelf, so always a plus when Im there.Staff have been nothing but friendly and helpful when needed, so no complaints there.
