Area might not be so great but they really take care of you and your car. They go over everything with you and get you the best deals. All employees are very nice and they keep your car clean. Great place for oil changes, tires, brakes etc. Check them out!

I needed my brake lines replaced, so I called pepboys to make sure it was something they could do and was told yes it bring, and was even given a ballpark price for the labor/work (since I ordered the parts from Summit. So I took my truck in dropped it off with the brand new parts I had ordered from Summit and they told me they would do a free inspection and call me when its ready. No sooner did I make it home I get a phone call and Pepboys tells me I need to take it to a Body Shop to get my brake lines replaced. 🤔 so now Im wondering since when did Macco do paint and brakes??

I think this is the first review Ive ever written. I was scrambling, so stressed calling around trying to find a place to fix a break light on a Sunday night at 4pm. They were so accommodating over the phone and agreed to get it done, installing the new bulb (after struggling to remove the melted, old bulb out) for free - shoutout to Emil. So thankful I found them!

Stopped into the Modesto location because my low tire pressure light came on. Worst service Ive ever had at a Pep Boys. Employee offered to check the tire pressure and add air if needed. The light wouldnt go off and I told him that over and over but he just kept arguing with me. No, it wont go off a couple of miles down the road. And guess what? It didnt go off almost 20 miles and several stops later. So now I have to find a different location in an unfamiliar state to try to get it taken care of. I insisted on Pep Boy tires because they have always provided excellent service. Definitely didnt receive it this time.

I gotta say... pep boys is the best. Im a learning DIY home mechanic and Jose and Bobbi in parts are absolutely incredible. I did a tune up in the morning with Bobbi and she offeree to provide the proper sparkplug gap measurements without being asked. w This afternoon Jose confirm why I will ALWAYS come first to Pep Boys first. I was at a loss with a project and had it narrowed down to 2 ideas. 1 was an expensive alternator fix another was a much simpler $5 part cleaning fix. Rather than just sell me the expensive part as I requested he showed me an awesome in-house how to fix it computer program with recommendations. He saved me the expensive part purchase and my truck is running great. Thanks for taking the time to care about your customers problems! The parts team at Modesto Pep Boys is knowledgeable and keeps me coming back every time!

I gave this establishment 5 stars year ago. But I was so wrong. I purchased tire from Amazon and they delivered to them week before and I set up and appointment with them. However when I arrive, the person named Charlie and Peter, who are supposed to be the manager at the service area, doesnt even have idea of where my tires are or about my appointment. They didnt even bother to look for my tire and kept ignoring me. Once I got hold of Amazon and they contacted the store manager Erik, he found the tire which was right behind the Charlie guy. They were ignorant, unwilling to help the customer. They didnt even bother to look for tire until the matter got escalated to the manager and Amazon. This place is going downhill when it comes to customer service. I would never come back here. And i would never recommend it to anyone else. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CHEAP QUALITY PLACE.

Horrible service today. 8/27 at 5:00 pm. Very disappointed. Was ready to pay. There was 2 employees next to register, they looked at me and both walked off. Not to mention I was in a hot store for a while, finding what I needed. Their AC must have broke down. There was no way I was going to wait longer for someone to come to the register. I walked out. Guess those employees did not want to make Pep Boys money today. So I went to O Reilly’s instead.

Was very pleased that Travis and the mechanics at Pep Boys on Orangeburg and Mchenry were able to complete the alignment on my truck that Firestone was unable to do without trying to sell me tie rods for an additional cost of 400 dollars. I came in without an appointment at about 9 am on a Friday. I was told they were booked up for the day, but would squeeze it in. Not three hours later, I got a call that my alignment was completed and that nothing needed to be replaced. In these uncertain times, I very much appreciate honest work with an effort at saving the customer money.Thank you

Do not go unless you have all the time in the world! I went there today for a simple tire change which was around 65$ for the tire and installation. It seemed like a good deal and I was told it was going to be an hour wait. So I’m waiting for about two hours until they finally went to work on my car, which they seemed to find they couldn’t take off one of the bolts. They told me in order to take it off, they would have to break the bolt. And the replace for the lug nut, which was another 60$. I said okay because I had no other choice really. So I was there from 11:00am to 1:00pm, I finally call someone to pick me up so I wouldn’t be stuck and bored there. They told me they already had the part they needed. So it’s already 3:24pm and I finally call Pep Boys, and ask them what’s talking so long. He told me the reason it took awhile was because they needed to order the part I needed for my car, even though they had told me they already had it. They told me my car should be done within the next half hour. All I have to say is poor poor customer services, because they could have told me it was going to take 4 hours and a half to change my tire. Instead I found myself stuck at Pep Boys for the longest until someone came and picked me up. I did not hear one apology either. I would never come here again and waste precious time or money like that ever again.

I just came for the first time to Pep Boys on McHenry Ave. in Modesto to have my oil changed. I was helped by a gentleman named Smiley. He was so very friendly and helpful. He answered my many questions and put me at easy about my old car. This will definitely be my go to place for all my service needs.

Besides the fact that they go against a phone quote by $300 higher. The store needs refreshed. Its worn out looking. Floors need replacing. My male friend called for me to get a quote to replace 2 struts & was told it would cost $500.xx & that included an alignment. But when I went to the store to make the appt to have the work done suddenly it now became $800+ to do the work. Wow! Taking advantage of a woman... I doubt youll get my business... ever.

I used their website purchase rims specified for my vehicle. The rims did not fit on my stock rotors. I called the Merced pep boys and they said they would call me back which they never did. I went to the Merced Pep Boys and they gave me poor customer service as well. The person at the desk basically told me that they do not accept online returns despite the fact that their website says otherwise. They told me I had to go to Modesto (which is a 1 hour drive from where I live) to do the return. I then proceeded to call the Modesto Pep Boys. They told me that they do accept returns but that theres a 20 percent restocking fee on a rim return. On top of the fact that the shipping cost is not returned either. At the end of the day I have become very frustrated and dissatisfied with Pep Boys.

Well I asked them to rotate the tires and they didn’t. Also three hours later..For a oil change and tire rotation (woof...!)

I just got my Ford Fiesta serviced here today. I use to always go to the Ford dealership in San Jose until I moved out here to Modesto. It a lot harder for me to come out to San Jose. When I came in at 9:50 am they took my car in right away! My appointment was at 10:00 am and they took it in 10 minutes early it was great! My wife and I waited just an hour as they promised! They informed me of the stuff like my tires i need to keep an eye out for. I must say I am very pleased and happy with them! I appreciate their hard work and I must say its awesome I dont have to drive almost 2 hours away just to get my car serviced.

I would give it 5 but the people in the shop absolutely suck. I wouldnt take a radio flyer there for service. If you dont like someone then recommend them here. On the other hand the ladys and people inside are knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you Bobby,Carol, Heather, Cynthia and Eric.

I knew that I needed tires for a while now, but put it off because auto maintenance isnt really an expense anybody gets excited about... Well, a few days ago I went to Pep Boys because I found a coupon for 30% off new tires that expired the next day and suddenly felt some urgency. The coupon mentioned certain brands and so I looked for those brands. After settling on a model of the mentioned tires, I was quoted $680 online. Six HUNDRED, EIGHTY dollars.... This was for tires, installation, disposal, extra warranty (road hazard), and alignment (Which they said should be done after a new tire install... maybe true?). Wow. So I looked at the coupon... How do I even use this online? I wanted to complete my purchase online so I could schedule my appointment, reap the benefits of the coupon, and get a needed service done and accomplished. However, you cant use the coupon online so I called and was told to come to the store. Ok... So I went. I got there expecting about $220 of my $680 total off with my coupon and the total was the same. What? How? The buy 3, get one free and coupon cant be combined. ... Ok, well... How about JUST the coupon. ... Same. ... Well... lets see here................ best I can do is $620. So I sighed, disgruntled, and agreed to the appointment even though I was feeling ripped off and pressured. Well, I called around 2 days later and found tires with comparable warranty, installed WITH alignment for about $350 at American Tire Depot. Never going to Pep Boys again. For anything. Ever.

Bobby at the parts counter is the best. She knows the inventory and is a problem solver with excellent customer service. If she is not working, its better to leave and come back when she is working. The workers in the front are always friendly. Parts are parts, so the service is the important thing.

I was having a really bad day and then my tire blew out on the freeway. I was crying, my insurance company wasnt going to send me a tow truck and I had no spare tire. This was the only shop open and when I took an Uber over there to try and pick up a spare tire (which learned you cant do) they kindly offered to drive to my car, take off the tire, drive back to the shop put a new one on, then drive back to my car to put it back on! I was amazed and thrilled with how kind they were. They wouldnt accept a tip either! This is the only place I will go for my car simply because I know that anyone who has that good of customer service and care, is definitely going to take care of my car.

Excellent service. My sports car has non-standard size tires. They ordered exactly what I wanted. Once they arrived they gave me a call and scheduled the service. They were clean, professional, and did a great job. They mounted and balanced the tires and did an alignment. Ill be back next time I need tires.

I am giving this Pepboys a lower rating for good reason. I went in and had a Front End Inspection performed on an old car with a loud knocking in the front drivers side. I had looked under the hood prior and had seen that the bushing for my Strut was shot. They jacked my car up and told me all 4 struts needed to be replaced and that it was unsafe for me drive on them. They displayed that my tires needed to be replaced, which I am very aware of, but with it having issues with knocking Im not dumping $300.00 in tires at the moment. I got online to study what bad Struts would do and the only one my car suffers from is the bounce test. I dont bottom out, I dont jerk around...Nothing of this super negative nature that they were portraying. I then proceeded to look for just a bushing and sure enough there is just a bushing I can purchase. Granted the struts may be worn and need some attention, but at a price tag of over $1000.00 just to have them repaired I am not having it done.I was never informed, even after I told them money was tight at the moment, that I could replace just the bushing for the time being until I could save for a bigger repair. They are looking to make a fast buck and will seem like they are just the most helpful men/women. They are indeed very nice to you, but like most quick service shops they want money and only money, not reliable customers.

This is the only place i take my car. The manager doesnt seem to have too much customer service as he doesnt probe or ask too many questions about ur car so u can get full satisfaction but there are other workers at the desk that does such. Also i have never had to return my car for the same issue. The mechanics are top rate and they are reasonable in price.

Myranda has horrible customer service. Extremely rude! her attitude and tone of voice she used towards me was just an unpleasant experience at the register. She quoted me a few hours for an alignment(Sunday morning 10am) and was very disrespectful when I asked how many customers were ahead of me. She said for me to leave the car for a few hours because she had 2 cars ahead of me and the one on the rack... Plus other appointments. Apparently I was next because around 10min later the tech came grabbed the keys for my car. He finished the alignment and I was in and out within 45min.The rest of the staff were great, along with the technicians. 5 stars for pepboys, 0 STARS FOR MYRANDA

Started off rough. Went to buy some tires and the counter person got mad because I was only buying two. Than tried to force me to get an alignment that was as much as both tires. Told me it was going to take an hour but end up taking 2 and a half. When I went ask him what was taking so long he walked away and went to lunch. Thank god the manager came in and was totally perfessional and took care of us. I would have given five stars if not for earlier incident.

Had my truck towed to pep boys needed a new starter they replaced it when you turn the key in to start it should start right away not take second or two so took truck back service manger off so service tire (Juan) starts truck takes its just to the bay and the mech. Ray says thats how its supose to start because its a diesel WRONG i was a mech. in the service put in a few starteds in 2 1/2 & 5 ton diesel trucks they always started right away i will be getting in touch with their main office in PA to let them know how displeased i am and i will most likely be looking for another auto repair place to take my vehicles
