My daughter has taken ukulele lessons from Blackbird for a few years. She got her instrument there, it has felt like home ever since we first walked through the doors. Her progress as a musician aside, Blackbird has been a warm and welcoming place for her to play and learn. With Covid, lessons have moved to video chat and we are still thrilled with the patience, passion, and creativity with which Charlotte and Blackbird approach music instruction.
I bought a harmonica here. Key of C. It was $35. I still have it but I only played a few songs and havent touched it since. I somewhat regret my purchase. Nice store though.
I just went in for a set of purple slinkys and some picks. Store is clean, they mostly cater to acoustic stringed instruments. Limited pick selection however. I would have given 5 stars but they dont stock fender 351 celluloid picks. The industry standard since the 50s. Other than that small issue, very prompt, and friendly, give them a shot we need more neighborhood shops like this.
This place is GREAT!Lots of neat handmade guitars and modified acoustic instruments. Also some cool vintage amps and lessons available for any age.If youre in the neighborhood, stop in and give em a try before going to the suburbs just to buy strings.
Fantastic community oriented music shop! Great place to learn and improve as a musician, not just for stings and repairs
