Had a terrible experience attempting to have a hitch put on my Subaru. Made an appointment and paid online. When I showed up was told the hitch person doesnt work that day. Told to come back 2 days later and it could be done at 7am. Surprisingly, the hitch person was not there (running late). Left my number to call me when he arrived. No call by 9 so I called and he was there. Brought my car in, he went to look at it and said he didnt have the tools to do it. He looked for an alternative location and the best he could do was Maplewood the next day but I was busy. Asked for a refund and he claimed to do it, but couldnt give me a receipt because the printer is out of paper. The money was not returned to my credit card and it took 2 calls to customer service to get a refund. The store manager was supposed to call me and he never did..Total fiasco
Not good. My trailer hitches did not have wiring for the trailers. 1st day it was not even available due to a no return that day. So I was never able to use a trailer. More professionalism is needed as a front desk worker.
Great place to get a vehicle if your moving. The trucks and vans have high quality cabins and same with the cargo bay. And the fuel mileage is fantastic. Overall great trucks for moving.

Normally its ok. The last time was really bad. Poor customer service. So much dog hair on both seats that it looked like a dog had just been in there. Staff didnt care.However, corporate made it right. I appreciate that. Good follow through on thier end remedying the situation.
There is one bad rotten apple at this location. Ripping off his customers is his first priority and may be he gets bonus for doing so. My advice to my fellow customers is that never leave without recording fuel gauge before you leave, bring your gas receipt after bringing in their vehicle and never, never ever leave without checking out with a human being at with you. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT CHECKING WHAT YOU ARE BEING CHARGED. ONCE YOU LEAVE, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.
Not a very large place. Very congested. I was not given any sort of familiarization tour of the vehicle. He said here it is and walked off.Check-in was ok. Doubt I would rent here again.
Ive rented trucks and vans from them on several occasions and always had good experiences. For in-town moves the location - just off the 35th St. exit from 35W - cant be beat. My last experience, just yesterday, was a smooth transaction with fast and friendly service. Recommended.
I placed a reservation for a U-Haul Ubox over a couple weeks ago at this location and received a confirmation and reservation number, explicitly stating my loading and shipping dates. Three days before my loading date, I was contacted by U-haul saying that no Uboxes were available even though I had received a reservation confirmation. I am now without any moving options only a few days before I need to be moving. This lack of accountability and customer service is appalling. I encourage others to look elsewhere when moving your belongings.
Extremely rude man at the location. Would not honor reservation terms made with customer service. Spoke over me and when I said hey listen told me WATCH YOUR MOUTH LADY & HUNG UP ON ME!

The truck was fine. Thats about it. Reserved a 15 truck, 2 furniture dollies, 1 utility dolly, and 2 dozen furniture pads- all of this 1 month ahead of time. I arrived 15 min before open the day of my move, and low and behold they only have the truck available. No dollies, no furniture pads. No call, no text, no email at any point in the 30 days from the time I made my reservation. This made my move SO much harder than it needed to be. The single employee working that morning was pretty rude and unapologetic and did not wear a mask. The truck took about 6 tries to start that morning, but once it was warmed up I did not have any further issues throughout the day. Overall, I would STRONGLY recommend going with another truck rental company. Uhaul is cheap for a reason.

All the employees there that I interacted with were nice and helpful. One of them wasn’t wearing any type of face covering when indoors though.

Tried to get a trailer hitch installed. Around $450 charged for the supplies and labor which is reasonable, but money was required upfront upon making an appointment around 2 weeks in advance. I get a call the day before my appointment apparently to notify me that the parts werent in for the hitch, so my scheduled appt now wont work. However, I missed the call and got no message or email notification. Their poor communication led me to show up for my scheduled installation only to be told it cant be done. They shouldnt be charging in advance if they dont have the necessary parts ready. They also shouldve been aware of the delay with the parts and communicated this further in advance than the day before the appt so that I couldve adjusted my plans. I had ordered a trailer that I was planning to pick up and had some furniture needing to be delivered the following weekend that Im now out of luck for without a hitch.
I was seriously late with my truck and the employees kept calling me to ask where I was. They were very nice and understanding. I had a series of disasters that delayed me.
Its 1:05pm. I was received by Rude and egressive uhual employee. He was sitting on the Right desk. Bad and never recommend anyone here.
The lines were long and slow, but these guys got it. They were helpful, knowledgeable, calm, and they were working as hard as they could, going past their open hours to help customers. They made our very stressful move as painless as possible, and Im very thankful, because moving in a pandemic was a nightmare.
Check in process was pretty quick and the attendant was really nice. They were closed when I returned the vehicle but the online drop off was simple as well. I would definitely use this place again.
If you plan to install hitch or hitch wiring, don’t try this store. They even can’t promise to follow the appointment and install on time.
Used this location few times in the past decade and it was always quick, easy and the staff super helpful. New mobile options are fire.

U-Haul’s business strategy aside, this is a well managed location. I will second another commenter’s compliment for the manager, Wanda. She is professional and efficient with a distinct but fun personality. An asset to her employer and the type of person who makes you want to come back.
The manager, Wanda, is seriously the best. I went in on a busy Saturday morning and she was helping multiple people at one time. She’s very kind and efficient. There were about 6 people in front of me and I was out with the rental truck in 20 minutes. I’ll definitely come back to this location when I need another truck.
I’ve moved a lot the last few years for work and always choose U-Haul. This is by far the worst location I’ve been to. There was a misunderstanding on a billing matter and I was promised a partial refund a couple weeks ago. The refund was supposed to be issued within 3-5 days and it still hasn’t arrived. The Asst Mgr said he’d follow up by phone within an hour after my initial visit and that never happened. When I called back, the Manager tried to talk down my refund but still agreed to it. I stopped by a second time that day to make sure my refund would be issued because I already had a sense I couldn’t trust this place.Also, about a week before I stopped in to resolve the billing issue, I got a call from the manager saying I had damaged the truck. She said she had been calling me repeatedly to let me know, however my call log didn’t show any previous calls from this location. My final bill also didn’t have any damage costs. Then I never heard anything again.Also, don’t use U-Haul’s online check-in app. Do everything on paper. I wish I had paper copies of everything for easier reference.There are several U-Haul locations around the metro. Pay the extra mileage fee and don’t do business at this location. I’ll update this review if anything is resolved.
Oh my God! I was having an extremely difficult move but Matty was so helpful in lending a hand. I have never experienced customer service like this and I wish I could give them 20 stars because her and the gentleman working with her are angels and I will never forget them!
If you are following social distancing and mask mandates, I dont recommend coming to this Uhaul. The last two times I have come through to buy supplies, 1 of the employees is never wearing a mask and they do not force any customers to wear a mask inside the store. The 3 person limit they have on the door is also fake. There is no limit.
DO NOT GO HERE! THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY! Completely dishonest about their policy and we paid more than double what was expected.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They bill you for damage you did not create. I submitted documentation of a cracked windshield when I rented the vehicle, but now magically they cannot find it. Utterly unprofessional.
This central hub Uhaul puts in work. People like Malachi and Laquan are always working, always moving, always getting things done. In a time where stress is high, they were able to get me what I needed, help me manage my pick ups, and were always clear with their communication. Covid sucks, and yet they are still there, masks up, working days and weekends to help people. Also thank you to Austin using his network to call other uhauls and help me find the last item on my list after I cleared his store out ;-) Appreciate it team!

Extremely helpful workers. I had installed a hitch myself, but was having trouble routing the wiring up to the battery. They helped me finish it up and it works great! Would highly recommend if you need a hitch installed and wiring done!

After an over a month long confirmation and reservation, was informed 1 hour after waiting for service that the trailer was not available at the reserved location. Instead, after 6 hours of paid movers and a cross country move ahead, we picked up the trailer over 20 miles from our guaranteed pickup spot... AND then.... after we received our correct trailer 6 hours later, was informed 2 hours after pickup that the incorrect trailer was given to us. Cost us over 800 more dollars to correct the situation. Absolutely no support or acceptance of the damage or absolute negligent service we received in an already trying and difficult time. Please, learn from my mistake. Do not ever rent or rely on this company to take your time, money, and effort. It is an absolute waste of your resources.

Their credit card machines were down. Staff was courteous but unprofessional and slow.Truck was 45 minutes late for pickup despite the location not being busy at all. Will not use again.

Used these guys for several local moves. Very friendly staff, good location, very easy to drop off when finished. Only complaint is things can get backed up on Saturday mornings, but they definitely do their best to move people through.
Horrible customer service, took 30+ minutes to rent a trailer already reserved online, and they let me leave without taking the padlock off… So I had to drive 40 miles round trip in order to get a working trailer - and they refused to offer me a discount of any kind.

The Uhaul location on 35th and Nicollet is awesome! The staff is amazing...i cant remember the ladys name who helped me and everyone else was awesome. The place was packed and her customer service was phenomenal! Definitely recommend using this location. I will be back when I need a moving truck!

Wasnt here too get a rental but when I was leaving I locked my keys in my car. The general manager was very nice and helped me find tools to get me back into my car on a very hot day in the summer, wile I was working. Thank you again .
The service workers were great in the beginning. However, the truck had an old water bottle in it when I got in. No one came out to the truck with me to explain how to do anything. The check oil light was on the whole time. On my way back I overfilled the gas tank because I couldnt see the red dash indicating if it was empty or not. So I put $44 in it unnecessarily and they refused to refund me. I got the truck at 3/8 and returned it at 3/4 thats a lot of extra gas I paid for! Customer service made it seem like they would be able to refund me. However, manager said they NEVER refund. Really disappointed about this as every penny matters right now during the moving process. They are losing a young customer who Im sure has many, many moves ahead of her!
We have used this U-Haul location four times in the last two years, to move furniture from one location to another. Every time we have received top-notch customer service. The most recent time, we struggled to put gas in the truck, and they offered to let us take it out to try again. It was a huge truck and not really work saving the $1.50 per gallon for two gallons of gas at that point, but still very kind of them to offer! Would highly recommend this location!
Absolutely amazing staff! I was in a bind and Kurt went way above and beyond to help me find a workable solution. I’d already talked to 3 other rental places, a different uhaul and the uhaul 800 number but Kurt made it happen with a great attitude and humor. Thank you!! This location had several (3+) guys working. One saw I was trying to buy a lot of moving supplies so he took me at a side counter and started ringing me up. There was a long line and he just bypassed me, noting it would be easier on all customers. He had me move and pull up my car to the right spot. He helped me load up. I paid and got out of there quickly. I had to go back bc I forgot the bars for the wardrobe boxes. They remembered me and were helpful once again! I would highly recommend this team as they got my order correct, their customer service was excellent, and they used common sense to take care of the customers! Thank you!
They have everything I could possibly need to get my move on, this trip was just to get some extra packing papers and mattress bags (no queen size in what we needed though). We came right before they closed, and they could have used a little extra help. Long line and most of the time we were waiting no employee was in sight. Once we finally got checked out, service was fast and efficient.
Picked up a moving van yesterday. The staff was wonderful. Attentive, fun. The van was better than I expected - actually a joy to drive. The return was easy as pie. I would definitely use them again.

This U-Haul has an amazing team that definitely cares about you and making your move easier. Its a busy location - so expect some wait time. The staff is alway VERY friendly, however, despite the insanity thats going on. Their clear and honest with you and will do their best to accommodate your needs. I have a high amount of respect for the employees here.

I thought renting a truck to move was going to be a nightmare but these guys were great. It was really quick, maybe 10 minutes and Im out the door keys in hand and it was less than $35 for a nice cargo van for 4 hours and I paid the extra $10 for insurance which was optional. Definitely will go back.
I left the truck with more gas in it then when I took it and I swept the truck out as they asked. Still charged me for 5 gallons of gas and charged me $25 for a cleaner fee.d These people are scammers. DO NOT USE UHAUL. I also called one day before I was supposed to pickup the truck to make sure they had everything I needed ready. This included a furniture dolly an appliance dolly and blankets. I was assured they would have everything ready. When I got there I was told there is no furniture dolly because people had kept stealing them. When I called customer service to find out why they were being dishonest about the gas and cleaning I was dismissed. Terrible company.
I recently went to get some packing materials. The woman working there was amazing! I believe her name was Alexandra but Im not sure. She juggled 4 customers at once and kept everyone happy. Her positive attitude and attention to customers is something you dont often encounter especially when going to rent a truck or get boxes.I was so impressed that I tried to hire her for my business!! I sure hope UHaul realizes what an asset she is to their company. I am going to drive across town to buy more boxes because I havent had customer service like that in a very long time.

Quick check-out, truck nice to drive although everything manual (15 truck, pull-down window, roll-forward seat, hard to unlock passenger door).
My experience at this UHaul was great. Online reservation worked perfectly, the woman who helped me was cheery (for 7:45 in the morning) and made the process easy. Dont worry about the posts concerning the neighborhood. I wouldnt leave my keys in my car but I would feel very comfortable parking there. Overall, I highly recommend this location

Have used this location several times. The last time, the truck was a bit battered (cargo door did not work smoothly), but I dont know whether rental locations are responsible for repairs or someplace else, dont want to blame them for somebody elses responsibility. Trucks have always run well. Service picking up and returning has been good, and charges have all been accurate. Just do that inspection before renting and make sure youve got all the dings noted, and fill it up a block away before returning.

The actual renting of a vehicle was disorganized. I had a van on reservation, but it was a little unclear on exactly how to get that van once on location. Finally once I made my way through the line, the clerk seemed very disorganized and distracted, interrupting our conversation multiple times to help out other employees & customers. Once we got out to the vehicle- the van we rented was in great condition and clean, it got the job done. However, on my way to return the vehicle I noticed that on my receipt the same distracted clerk had charged me $10 for the CDW coverage that I had specifically said I did not want. I even had a yellow form copy, proof of my signature to deny the coverage. I called U-Haul a total of FIVE times that day and the next day in attempt to get this charge taken off. I was given the run around each time with every person I talked to forwarding me to someone else or saying they had no authority to take the charge off of my bill. After spending hours waiting and going back and forth on phone calls, the manager of this location finally reached me and took the charge off. Why did I have to go through all these hoops just to get a charge off that THEY messed up on? It felt incriminating and showed their poor customer service. This u-haul location is just not as reliable as they could be, so if you have a choice, Id pick somewhere else.

I needed a trailer hitch installation. What should have been a 1-2 hour installation turned into a 28 hour nightmare. It required a second day of work on the car because of “complications”. Extremely poor communication. On day two they never called me to say the car was ready. It took 3-4 hours of trying to get through to the Minneapolis U-Haul facility to find out if the car was ready to be picked up. They were “too busy” to pick up the phone so it overflows to a national call center which is of no help. Long painful story short, NOT worth the $100 savings compared with going to a professional trailer hitch installer. Please, please don’t make the mistake I did!

I sat around waiting for help hooking my trailer up and was eventually approached by a young man. He was smoking a cigarette (which stunk my car up), and talking on his cell phone (which made it even harder to determine when he was talking to me) throughout the entire process.
Theyve been here since Ive come to this city. Theyre always helpful. Rules change as time passes. But STILL a good bet.

Had a 10:00 appointment for a hitch installation. The website indicated this location could not accommodate drop off, but figured that would not be a big deal because of the simple install. Makes sense with their crazy lack of parking other reviewers have mentioned. Arrived a few minutes early, no line. Associate said it would be about an hour for the installation Cool. Went for some food and came back an hour later. Not done. Found a bench and waited patiently. At the 2 hour mark, went to get an update. I was told, Another 30-45 minutes. OK. Went and found a glass of water. Returned at 1:00, the 3 hour mark. Was told it would be another 15 minutes. Was able to see the car in the garage. 15, 30, and 60 minutes passed. Now 2:00. Went into the office for another update. None-too-helpful just got here associate said it would be another 30 minutes. Left to buy a phone charger and a second meal. At 3:15, 5.25 hours after the appointment start time, I finally received a call that the work was done.I get that delays happen. Im very forgiving of that. Interruptions, OSHA breaks, needing to help other customers. But this was ridiculous. Five hours? There is literally a UHAUL YouTube video for this exact installation for this exact vehicle. ITS SIX (6) BOLTS. If you cant do the work, just say so. Send me somewhere else. Dont offer the service. UHAUL ruined literally ruined my whole day.Think twice about using UHAUL, particularly this location. They seem completely overwhelmed by every interaction, of which I observed many while I waited. The phone rang a half dozen times while I was in the store, one of which was answered. This matches my experience of trying to reach this location and corporate customer service by phone.Did you know you can get a truck from Menards or Home Depot for like $20? No where near the hassle or frustration if you just need to knock out a quick cross town move! Dont even have to refuel.
Ive rented twice in the last 90 days and both times Ive gotten five-star service.Dont bother with anyone else.
They didnt mark the gas correctly. Told them about it and they said it was fine. They marked it on my receipt. I started receiving calls from collections shortly after. I was told that I owed them money. I did not. I came in and they said they would fix it. They did not. Now them took the money out of my checking. It was unfortunately my last money I had for the time being. Ridiculous.

I rent a trailer from this location six to eight times a year. The people who are there at 8:00 in the morning are great. They are relaxed and ready to help. If you go later at night you get people who are stressed out from dealing with people who stressed out about their move (opinion). Do yourself a favor, book your rental online a few days or weeks in advance. This will save you time in the check in process.

The van was fine, but I was charged for 22 miles when I only drove 6. Customer service recognized that the issue was on their end, said theyd have it fixed and call me back. A week later, no one had contacted me, so I called back. They recognized that there was a discrepancy again, but this time stuck to the assertion that Id driven 22 miles (nope, not true). Was never given a proper return inspection at the shop because the employees said they were too busy. Customer service said I could speak to their supervisor about it, but not until Tuesday (its currently Saturday).It was only a matter of $8 in the end, which isnt so much, but when there is a discrepancy that was clearly a mistake on their end, I would expect them to issue a refund. I would not expect them to tell me that I am lying about the distance I drove in order to save myself a few dollars, which is what actually happened.If you choose to rent from this U-Haul, watch them very closely. And dont bother with their customer service.
