Kirsten at the Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis location is fabulous. She is extremely kind and patient especially when it comes to figuring out what size rental unit best fits your needs. I highly recommend this location and always let my family and friends know that if they need a storage unit, this is the place to go. Unloading docks are very convenient with room for multiple vehicles. I have yet to have to go searching for a cart that is provided for customers. I cannot say the same thing about the other unit we have with a different provider. If I really had to choose between the two, even though extra space storage is more expensive, the customer service and amenities are well worth the price difference. 😀

I am quite happy! The store manager Kirsten was so helpful. She made it so easy to get my account setup! She answered all questions in a manner that I could understand. She showed me how things are done to enter the building. She had a map to give me. With different color markers showing how to get to my unit and other parts to the building. She made me feel special! I am glad I picked Extra Space Storage!

The location and infrastructure are nice but beware that the free month offer that they post online is false- they will Charge you a $25 administrative fee, a $11 mandatory monthly insurance premium and a $16 lock charge (they only allow a very specific type of locks that they sell). I ended up leasing it because I needed an storage space at that particular moment but I do recommend evaluating other options

The staff are awesome, I feel secure and confident that my belongings are safe.Update: this storage facility requires their own insurance which makes you feel confident about your belongings being safe and secure, however, this is anything but the truth, my unit was broken into, by someone that knew what they were doing as they left no signs of forced entry, and because there was no clear signs of forced entry, there also is no insurance claim. My entire ice fishing collection, electronics, clothes, shoes, boots. Cold weather work gear ... EVERYTHING WAS STOLEN!!! And the insurance company did honor the claim so what was the point of paying for something they arent really going to pay out from....

Such an easy and quick set up process! Very happy with the price. Steve was super quick to respond and very friendly. I had my keys within an hour of initial inquiry. Completely contactless. Clean, well lit, secure and easy load. Best storage experience Ive had. By far!

Good location, close to freeway. Navigating through the facility is easy because there are signs posted letting you know where to go. Bathrooms for customers by the side entrance are always clean. Kirsten was a good help when closing out the space I rented. I recommend this location to others.

I rented a unit from this location today. They seem to be very mindful of social distancing, having you call and be buzzed in to look at the units. Its VERY clean in there (Ive lived close by for a few years now, and the facility has been here for less time than I have so its pretty new) and well lit. They have a garage you can pull up into to unload, which is very handy.But mostly I commend Kirsten for being very helpful, friendly and obviously very competent. She was very quick, despite having to field several phone calls in a short period of time and being the only one on site. I had not rented a storage unit before but this was entirely painless. Due to the social distancing consideration, we were able to complete a rental contract in just a few minutes over the phone while I was just outside the building. From start to finish, looking at the display unit to determine a size, going to look at the unit I was renting and signing the contract digitally through email all took MAYBE fifteen minutes and now Im good to move everything in. A+ service, A+ facility.

So, I had to move about half of my belongings into a storage unit due to having to move and I spent a couple hours looking up different storage places, reading reviews, before I finally settled on Extra Space Storage. I chose it because of how close it was to where I was currently living and because of the ratings and reviews. Upon arriving, I was thoroughly pleased with how clean everything was, along with how open the loading/unloading area was. I was able to easily bring in my big furniture without too much trouble. (Im a small noodle girl with no muscles, so its always a little trouble for me.) The service provided was refreshing and made someone new to this world feel comfortable with the choices being made. The prices werent too much for the different sizes of units and they also provide insurance as well.And another plus is my mom approved of it the second she walked into the area with all the units. So there is that.I would definitely recommend Extra Space Storage for anyone who is looking to store their belongings.

I saw the garage door open several times after storage was closed, I repeatedly saw people living in storage without buying a storage space with the permission of workers, things from the storage disappear.

Professional facility. They get you a unit and keys quickly. Easy to use website. The place is a bit of a maze but I think most storage units are.

Ive used this place twice now over a span of 2 years. I think this place is great for U of M students who have no where to place their stuff between leases like me since I am an out of state student from Texas. Their prices are competitive to the rest of the market, their location is super close to those living in Como or Dinkytown. They have a good security system with the PIN pad and cylinder locks. And to top it off, Ive only had good or great experiences with the staff there. The staff are informative, helpful, kind, and good at listening to you. Ending your plan or usage of their storage space is easy as well, you just have to let them know 10 days prior to your 30 day term (I think its 30 days). Obviously you can go more than a month of using the storage unit, but for a college student, a month is enough time.

The store manager Kristen was fantastic! She was very helpful in making a choice on which size unit would work best for me and incredibly knowledgeable about the services and the procedures for the space. I left feeling happy and confident that the space would meet my needs!

We received excellent customer service at this location. Luke worked with us to make sure we had the appropriate space for our belongings. Considering we were out of town, he politely asked if we had enough time for him to give us a tour and explain how to get in and out of the space. In addition to his professionalism, he engaged us in conversation about our own personal lives and my daughters time at the UofM. This speaks volumes to me. It says, he has time for us and not just interested in getting our money. When we realized we didnt have enough space in the 4x4 we reserved, he help find the best options for our budget. First he suggested the price of two units in comparison one larger unit, but then realized we would have to pay for two locks. So he calculated the differences and saved us money. He was also thoughtful enough to thank us for using Extra Space in Illinois when he saw the Extra Space locks I hoped I could use from previous storage units. The space is very clean too!

The manager, Luke, was very friendly and helpful! I arrived 30 minutes before the office closed, but Luke still took the time to explain everything. I was given a tour of the facility and shown how to access/lock the unit. All of the storage units looked clean. Im happy to store my things here!

Clean, professional and helpful. I needed a unit for the summer while I sublet and it was easily accessible, had clean facilities, and a secure entrance. I enjoyed being able to pull my car into the loading dock and felt secure while taking loads back and forth. Occasionally has a slow response time to phone calls and voicemails, but more than makes up for it in wonderful customer service face-to-face. A+, I will definitely use this facility and company for future storage needs.

I recently moved from St Louis Park to NE Mpls and wanted a storage site closer to my new home. Having had a great experience with Extra Space in the past, I decided Id check out their new location off of Hennepin Ave. I have to say, my experience at this new location has been fantastic. I had the pleasure of working with the store manager Luke who got me set up with my new unit and showed me around the site. Luke is very knowledgeable and personable and went the extra mile to make sure I had everything I needed. The site itself is clean, well organized, and easily accessible. Im excited to try the new mobile access app! I would highly recommend Extra Space to anyone looking for a storage space in Minneapolis.

Hennepin Ave in Minneapolis.

First of all the management team is very professional, polite and reply quickly when you fill out an application for their storage space. It is a clean, warm and safe place to keep your belongings. My only regret is that I didnt go there sooner.

I checked around for other facilities that were in Minneapolis with drive up space and 24 hour access for our business. This is SO much better. Clean, well lit, climate control and an actual loading dock!!! Pricing is competitive too. I dont love the $18 lock, or the mandatory insurance, but its hard to argue against either one. Huge thanks to Kirsten for helping me out and putting up with my drama filled day and especially for going the extra mile to find us the right unit and make sure everything would work when we needed it to.

Have a student at the U...this made the most sense to store his items for summer and study abroad! I have to say from beginning to end they made this so pleasant, ultra convenient, safe location and monitoring, climate controlled, clean and reasonable rates. We got text and email reminders before moving in, easy payment process. They sell items like mattress covers and boxes right on site, first month free, even helpful tips about the weather on move-in day! A big shout out to Luke Bartels who made a stressful time driving all the way from Chicago to moving made super easy! I wouldnt go anywhere else.

This rating is only for our experience trying to get a unit rented; we didnt end up renting here so I cant rate the rental experience. We identified this as a good location to store some things for a period of time for our office and they were very nice at first and said they will do anything for our business. But when we asked for the rental agreement they said it could only be reviewed on-premises and I would not be allowed to take a photo or copy of it to review prior to signing. My manager is not local and he would have to review the agreement before we can enter into a contract with them so they basically made it impossible to do business with them. They have no explanation for why they cant provide a copy of the contract other than that it is company policy. This may be a fine place if you dont care what the rental agreement says.
