The Electric Fetus is an awesome place! I just wish I could make my own CD in store as before, but due to COVID precautions, that service wasnt available in person. Grateful for the precautions in place though! Unique spot...definitely worth visiting!

The best Time of my life. I would definitely be there all the time when I come back 2 live in Minneapolis. This will be my purple life 4ever! Im so glad that Prince loved this place even when he was a child. He gave us all a great reason why we should keep partying like its 1999 again! Best music store Ever!!

This place is super nostalgic, I’m glad it’s still around. Great place for gift shopping and a must see historic site, don’t go to Minneapolis without stopping in the electric fetus, you’ll be glad u did.

They do a go job at doing what they do. The Electric Fetus is part high end educated Spencer gifts type shop. Part head shop and the main body of work is the music shop. Good selection of new and used vinyl, cd’s and tapes. The employees are knowledgeable of any product in their store. Sometimes I find the record I’m looking for and sometimes not. No big deal as it’s common while shopping for vinyl. But I often wonder if that used album I’ve been looking for is in an employee’s collection and never made it out to the sales floor. The Electric Fetus is a great store with excellent staff but those folks behind the music counter have some secrets and I can see it in their eyes.

Love EF. There is always such an eclectic vibe that I thrive in here. They have a decent metal section and a huge used section. I enjoyed seeing the local artists be highlighted. I always recommend here for those on a vinyl hunt. They have lots of cool limited edition vinyls.

Always a great place to be. I just found out they hide secret vinyl in the mix so you have to spend hours but you find autographed ones and crazy releases.

I have always loved this place and I love how they have grown, adapted and changed over the years. Now their store is better than ever!

No more Prince items as they are no longer auth to sell even tho he loved this shop. You can get the incense he used. They have cute clothing items and retro candy so still worth checking out.

I enjoyed being here just opening doorway, smelling the candles or whatever was in the air at the time & hearing my feet walking across the hardwood looking out to a sea of music, unsure how else to describe. I need to go back & pick up some new tunes, maybe vinyl unsure. My birthday is less than 2wks away.

Such an eclectic store. I went because of Prince. No one bothered me when I took pictures and stod in the middle of the sales floor and cried. Its an amazing experience for music lovers. Looking forward to my next visit.

Amazing store for anyone with a love for any genre of music. HUGE selection to choose from no matter what genre, usually have quite a few items on sale or discounted in price for used condition. Make sure you buy 3 or more items and you can get a 10% discount on your purchase!

This place has been serving the community for a very long time. They have an eclectic array of music. Often selling concert tickets.Head shop and some fun gifts, home accessories.Check it out.

Has a wide variety of music via vinyl & CDs. Also they have incense, soap, socks, cute little finger puppets, and lots of other awesome cute stuff. Definitely recommend to friends and everyone else. The only thing I didnt like was the mess of the vinyls, not really in alphabetical order which makes it a little confusing. But overall I could find what I was looking for.

If I was shopping for vinyl, I would give the Electric Fetus 5 stars. I was shopping for CDs and the selection was small. I have shopped there for 30 years but their large selection of CDs has dwindled and replaced with vinyl. There is still a good selection of used CDs. I guess vinyl and streaming is where the money is now.

Easy to see why this is a nationally recognized record shop. Great selections for both new and used media. Giant selection of Prince offerings. Easy to see how one could get lost sitting through the various racks.

Stopped in to get a gift for friend, staff was immediately attentive to my needs. Atmosphere is old school hippie. Acceptance of all. Spirit filled atmosphere lots of energy.

Amazing and wide selection. Pretty much any music you can think of on record or CD, and that was only half the store! There was a whole gift shop area with all kinds of things that I still need to explore! A surefire must-visit for anybody, especially music enthusiasts!

Princes favorite record store!We went to check this store out mainly because Prince supposedly loved the place. Looks like a small store, but looks are deceiving. This is a Vinyl album lovers paradise! Rows upon rows of records! Many other cool things in the store too. You can get Prince merchandise, posters, clothes, and many little fun things. Must go check it out, cool place!

Ive always wanted to stop here and Im glad we finally did. This place is so much more than a record store. The random baubles and gifts are incredible.

*theyre closed on Mondays so dont go in on monday. They do have a good size parking lot that was nice easy to park. They have a huge selection of albums.

Very cool place with a lot more than just records. Spent about an hour here, looking through the records and browsing the other things they have. Home decor, clothes, candy, and tons of other stuff. So glad we stopped by while we were visiting Minneapolis.

First time visit per a friends suggestion. I may have traveled 5 hours to get here, but well worth it when visiting the area. Great selection of new and used. Limit customers in the store at a time to keep everyone safe. Waited a bit outside, but did not feel rushed once I got in. Now I have some new stuff to share with my students in class on Monday!

One of the best things about this place is how nice and chill the employees are. The selection is pretty extensive, and while Im not a pro at buying records, the prices seem fair. Overall, its a cool vibe.

What once was a fav of mine is sadly no longer, after a very rude/condescending interaction with a staff member today. I then realized that I may have been overhyping this establishment in the first place lol. Good thing I have other record stores in Minneapolis to spend my dollars at.

Like walking into a Head Shop from the 70s but with new music. (I did walk into this shop in the 70s. A lot.) The smell of all the different incense is like a greeting from an old friend. Records, CDs, candy, clothing, posters and more. If youve never been you must go. If youre from out of town for vist and you miss this shop you really havent seen the city.

Very disappointed over the sadly meager jazz section. It used to be a hallmark of this legendary store. Good vinyl selection though. Overall, still a pretty fun place to visit.

A must visit record store for all out of towners ! This has been a local favorite since the 70s and my local favorite since the 80s. There are sometimes (popular) local artists playing special shows in store. They carry gifts, vinyl, cds, stereo equipment, head shop items and local arts/hand crafted goods.

The entire staff was extremely nice and very helpful! I look forward to coming back to visit from LA!

Incredible customer service. After placing my order online, I decided to change it. The staff (Jim) was very helpful as I altered my order. Pick-up at the store was quick and super easy. And then they reached out to me a week later to update me on the availability of an album I was interested in. For one of the bigger, busier record stores in the area, I really appreciated the personal approach to customer service.

Great used vinyl place, with new stuff all the time. I have had to return a few, as they do not have their players up due to Covid. Not sure why, as other stores do, but as long as they take ones back that arent good, I guess its ok. The guy told me its due to social distancing, which didnt make sense to me, but oh well.

This place his bet around for really long time and every time I go there and always able to find exactly what I want whether the vinyl or album incense posters but it is one of the most respected places to still fine high quality music

The quirk level is master class - great selection of vinyl, of course, but also great place for local eclectic gifts - sort of a music grunge boutique
