Nice people, good prices, I wasnt completely satisfied by the quality of the work they performed, they replaced one of the lines not both like I asked and the breaks still squeaked after service but they seemed like they were in a hurry to leave so I just left.
Great place. They helped me with a tubeless tire that just would not hold air. They took several days and tried multiple times and did not give up! They eventually got it to work and I couldnt be happier! They have also become my go-to for parts as they always have what I need!
Great tune-up on my bike at Great prices.
This place was amazing.. although I wish they had a little bit more of a selection(I didnt find a bike 😕), the staff was very helpful and genuinely pleasant to interact with. I will definitely be stopping in regularly to check out new inventory as it comes in.
I picked up my three speed last night and was so happy with the work. I had new brakes put on and cables and when they saw I could use new bearings they called first to ask if I wanted that done. I even got a cool new fender to replace my defunct vintage one. Thank you! Gregory
I brought my bike in for a gear and brake adjustment and couldnt be happier! They did a great job and were very informative for future maintenance 😸
Super friendly staff. Helpful. Have all the parts I needed.
They really listened to your needs and arent trying to upsell you on some new bike. They gave me their honest and expert opinion and I am having my old bike repaired. At ERIKs bike shop they told me bike was not worth repairing and quoted me double the price and tried to sell me a $3000 bike
Great service. Cant wait to get my bike back, tuned up and ready to go.
I used to go to the Alt bike shop, another bike shop with a punk Rock aesthetic, until they closed. Just tried Recovery Bike Shop for the first time today. Best bike shop EVER!
The workers are friendly and helpful.
What a great store and the place to go for parts for older bikes.
Best bike mechanics in town. Extremely thorough and they do great work for a fair price. Even my janky old bike that sat in a garage since the 90s rides smooth as silk now. Friendly chill vibe.
This place is aweskme..made appointment for bike tune up..took in .drop off n came back later n it wa as all done..great service n fri ed only with a honest smile...bike shops like this is disappearing..lets support small businesses
My brother and I came there looking for a bike and was greeted by Ari, who was very knowledgeable and patient enough to help us find the right bike for us. He was very helpful and suggested us to have a test run with the bike since we weren’t sure about the size of the bike. Unfortunately, they were limited on mountain bikes due to high demand, so we ended up not getting a bike. I would recommend getting a bike from here if you want a good quality one. Since all of their bikes are built with good materials and care.
Was recommended this shop from a local Facebook group. THEY’RE GREAT!! Everyone was very nice and the mechanic even offered for me to come back to the shop area and show me what he was doing. Prices are very fair and they had plenty of stuff on hand. Places like this are invaluable!! Please help support your local bike shops. Especially these people!
The people there have no organization. Everything is haphazard. The customer service is not very good unfortunately because I like the place and the concept but the young people working there are very inexperienced and have no social skills.
The staff were friendly but I am sad to say the actual bike repair service has been awful. I brought my bike in originally for a bent rim and since then Ive had MORE issues than when I brought it in. I had them work on it a second time and there were STILL issues after! Im not bringing it back and will be getting a new bike mechanic. I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine who said that everyone in the bike mechanic community apparently knows you shouldnt go here..? I dont like leaving bad reviews but if I had read one I definitely would have thought twice about coming here.
Friendly, knowledgeable & fast.
I had a great experience shopping here! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! I wanted to surprise my daughter and bring home her first bike. The shops owners were even taking time to help me find the correct size of bike. The prices were great and I definitely plan to be back. Thank you Recovery Bike Shop for the amazing customer service!
Knowledgeable and great customer service.
I wanted a speedier bike, and the one I picked out from Recovery just didnt fit my body and style I wanted. Alyssa and the staff let me return that bike, and then helped me handpick all the pieces to custom build a bike just for me. The bike that Alyssa built for me is PERFECT. I got the bike (which Ive named Fawkes because like a Phoenix she was raised from the ashes) in August, but waited to write the review because I wanted to be sure it was the perfect bike AND IT IS! Thanks so much Alyssa and all the employees there for making my road bike dreams come true.
Nice people, quick repair of flats, reasonable prices on helmets... This is not fancy but so lovely. Worth my drive. ❤️🙂
Everyone was very helpful. Great selection of bikes. Prices were very reasonable. They took precautions during this crazy time of ours. I felt safe going in. This company is just so awesome.
Great job social distancing. Also love the service. My go to bike shop!
Super helpful staff. Down to earth. Good selection of reasonably priced used bikes and parts.
Nice shop
They were super nice and friendly and assessed my bike issues and fixed on the spot. I will definitely return. Made my day.
Excellent customer service, quick turnaround, prices are competitive w the larger chain bike shops, used them a few times now and have been very happy with their work.
Great shop. One of the best in the country. I strongly feel that they need to sell t-shirts. Very simple classic ones with the name of the shop. I want one so bad. Can we make this happen? I would be so grateful!I’d like to add that I stopped by and someone immediately came and helped me. Great service! Here’s my suggested logo. So many easy to use logo-makers online.
Complete honest care. I really like the time and care they take on bikes. i bought one bike from them and really love it. Used frame and new parts. I also, brought in two bikes for issues. They not only fixed the problems (new brakes installed, new peddles installed for one bike. Brakes adjustment and rack installed on the other) but they re-greased the chains and feels like they just gave the bike a once over. Really happy with the service and the price. Feels like two new bikes . Awesome customer service as well.
Excellent service. I enjoy biking but I am no expert. Everyone here is incredibly helpful and I am never made to feel that my questions are ignorant. I highly recommend Recovery!
They make me feel very welcome there. In almost every bike shop i go into i feel unwelcome. A lot women work there. They welcome questions. Reasonably priced.
My Trek S10 was redone and it feels AmaZing! Prior payment system needs bug fixes
This place is awesome and so are the employees. Super helpful and nice, and love what they do!
I have been to almost every shop in the twin cities, and Recovery Bike Shop is by far the most friendly, humble, genuine, and honest shop in town. They treat you like an individual and a friend, not like a walking dollar sign. They carry an array of used bikes, new bikes, parts, and soft goods. They truly care about your problem and want to make sure you are satisfied and safe on the roads. Everyone of the employees is passionate and knowledgeable about bikes, and takes pride in helping you to the best of the their ability. Why go anywhere else??
Employees were really nice and helpful. I didnt feel judged even though I dont know much about bikes. They helped me find the exact bike I wanted and this used bike was way more affordable than a new one. I even got to pick out my own handle bar tape color! Highly recommended.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Recovery is a fantastic neighborhood bike shop. Theyre quick with advice, affordable parts, and anything else you might need. Ive never bought a bike from them but they also appear to do a great job of restoring bikes to sell and have a small selection of very fun setups on new bikes.
Great shop with great people. They treat bikes as transportation.
Great place for all things bike. The staff is super knowledgeable and eager to help. No never feel like you are being talked down to because you know less than they do. From someone brand new to bicycling to someone having custom work done. This is definitely the place to go
Spending time in this store just feels good. Spacious, unpretentious staff, all kinds of cleverly refurbished bikes. Check the website for events, theres always an open shop or opportunity to learn by doing.
They did a great job helping me find a good fit bike for my needs.
Soooo, pretty awesome staff. I bought a bike chain from them July 2019. When I tried to install it, my tools broke. They let me borrow theirs, as well as let me use the shop to change it out. They could have charged me labor or shop time, but didnt. Super knowledgeable, and super cares about making sure you end up getting what you need. Would give 6MM stars if I could.
Wonderful customer service, and great selection of used bikes! Caleb patiently helped my 12 year old son pick out the right bike. The price was right and the fit perfect. We are very happy.
Great experience finding the right bikes for the 2 of us beginers!
The people working here are super helpful! They have a cool program that allows you to trade up certain bikes. Great for growing teens!
Extremely professional and friendly staff that do great bike repairs and tune-ups. And very reasonably priced. Everyone that I have referred to this place has been impressed with it as well.
Very helpful. They take care of your needs while you stand around telling them what you would like they know just what you need and how to do it. Ask for Tom he he is the best.
Great place & even better guest service.
Love these guys. I bought a bike there, and had it tuned up a year later. Great service, very friendly and helpful, and prices that are very good. Best bike place Ive encountered in the Twin Cities.
Kind and helpful staff. Worked with my limited knowledge. Offered more detail when needed and answered all of my questions. I feel like I know what I am getting and what the process is/will be.
Cool place with fixed up used bikes and new ones as well. Staff is all really nice and helpful. Selection isnt very extensive, but its definitely worth checking out if youre in the market for a bike, prices are too high, though. Also, warning: the tuning that this shop does is just dreadful. Ive had two bikes from here tuned up three times and the chains are constantly derailing on all of them. Its like having two fewer gears on your bike, because going to the top or bottom gears will derail half the time. Its a great place to get a tune up if you love being on the side of the road fixing your bike all the time.
Today on 5/19/21 i go in to this shop to have work done to my bike and I tell one of employee what I need done to my bike and she tells me that she does not feel comfortable because everything she feels is wrong with it which is bunch of BS because I have put that bike together by myself with all their parts that they sold to me......so my new recommendation to all these people that looking for help on there bicycles do not take your bicycle this shop for repairs because they will take advantage of you when you are on a strict budgeton April 8/20 thank you Recovery Bike Shop for help me out with my Mongoose bicycle for every person I meet or see Im going to tell my friends and family that you are my new recommendations for business for low income people that has very little money to work with because you guys saved me tons of money from Freewheel Bike Shop
Recovery is a fantastic, locally-owned bike shop conveniently located in NE Minneapolis. I have referred numerous friends there to purchase bikes and parts and all of the staff, but especially Alex and Josh, are extremely helpful and patient. The team is knowledgeable and friendly, and the bike, tool and accessory departments are well-stocked. Recovery also organizes a variety of events, including open shop times to instruct and help beginners with a host of common bike maintenance how-tos. This is a great all-around shop.
My bicycle was destroyed from a bad accident. They managed to bring it back from the dead where other shops refused to work on it. Nice to have this place as an ace in the hole and feel like I am riding a new bike nowadays.
The people here are so good and dedicated to what they love doing. They convinced me to buy a bike that was 3 times the price I was looking for, but its been worth every penny! The staff is fantastic and very knowledgeable. Even though we only have bought one bike from them, weve brought all my familys bikes in and referred my friends over.
Went to bike shop for first time last week. Requested both tubes and tires be replaced. Was told it would be finished in 3-5 days and that we would get a call. 6 days later I called to check status amd was told it was finished. No idea when it was ready or why nobody called to let us know. Not the best experience. I’m hoping the new tires perform better than the staff did.
Been going there 5+ years. Great service and expertise. They take care of anyone and everyone.
Brought my bike in to fix a flat front tire, they fixed the flat well enough, (~15 min) however what happened afterwards was inexcusable. After the mechanic finished she showed me how my front wheel hub was wobbling on the axle and recommended I get it fixed. I had never noticed a wobble before and declined, planning on fixing it at home. (For context I do most of my own maintenance, however for this flat I was on my way home from work and had no tools so it was more convenient to stop by the shop). When I looked at the wheel at home the reason for the wobble was a loose cone, which is easily fixed with 2 wrenches in under a minute. That leads me to think either the mechanic loosened my cone, trying to up-sell me extra services; or the cone somehow came loose on its own and they couldnt recognize a quick 10 second fix. So either extremely shady business tactics or just gross incompetence.
I took 2 bikes in for a tune up. I went here because of previous reviews on price and service. One bike was done perfectly. The other still had an issue with the pedal mechanism. Sounds like metal on metal. I Dont know how they could have missed it. The place is overpriced and unwelcoming. Feels like the new era of car mechanics. Just never know if they are over pricing and charging extra. They only get the 1 star for location.
This was a amazing bike shop for many years until recently. As a former employee of Recovery Bike Shop, I will honestly say that the ownership as of recently has changed what Recovery Bike Shop has been known for. There is no longer experienced mechanics on hand nor working for the company to assure you have a awesome ride. The owner can not afford to keep experienced people on hand to even help/train new people. What was once a staple of the mpls bike community is now, sadly, almost a thing of the past...
I dont know much about bike.My bike is not in good condition. I bring it to store and they take care of it.loose bolt was issue, they tune up and didnt charge.THEY ARE AWESOME and reliable.
Every time I go into the shop I’m met with kind helpful employees! I really enjoy this place!
Super helpful and friendly staff, less than stellar selection. I really enjoyed going there and getting my questions answered and found the staff to be super helpful and friendly, but their inventory of bike components wasnt that great. Clearly its a much better place to go get your bike repaired, to buy tires/tubes, or to buy a used/new bike, but beyond that theyre kinda lacking in peripherals and accessories.
Unfortunately, I have to write this location at 1 due to poor communication. I tried to get a job here a few months ago, and the person that was supposed to get back to me never got back to me. I talked to at least two staff members, but never heard back from anyone.
I feel like this is the only bike shop Id ever go to. No pressure on sales. Great and reasonable repair prices.
As someone who doesnt know a lot about bikes I came in here expecting new bikes over $600. Instead I bought a new bike which they adjusted to my size and swapped out some parts I didnt want in the store. Great service will come again.
Dropped off my ride yesterday, awesome friendly service, great suggestions and a fair, honest estimate, didnt push for parts that werent needed. Havent even picked it up yet and Im already impressed by these folks!
Extremely friendly service... And he gave me a great deal on a rare part that I needed! Thanks Recovery Bike Shop!
Horrible, find any other bike place in city, stay away from recovery bike shop. They misplaced my bicycle and said it could not be recovered. They then tried haggling with me and have not offered to refund or replace the parts and attachments that went missing.Aweful. Will be calling the police to try and recover the missing bicycle. May need to take them to court to get refunded for missing parts and attachments.Repair work was of shoddy quality. Bikes are of poor quality.
Decent quality bikes with some rebuilds, definitely worth a look if you dont want to spend a grand on a bike!
Very nice and helpful people here! They were willing to help me out and teach me some things about bikes!
Bad selection and prices. Service takes weeks. I took my bike in and after 2 weeks I took it back out and got it fixed the same day elsewhere.
I rented a bike from these guys for burning man and paid a hefty security deposit. After months of them telling me to “be patient - we’ll get it done” it’s still never been returned. All emails and calls go unanswered. Someone who goes by “Cutter” was who I dealt with. Can someone just tell me how to get my deposit back?
Two months ago I came in to have my chain replaced after some of the links had started to bind. Due to some unfortunate circumstances I was not able to ride much in those two months, but after a few rides I found that the new chain was also binding. I brought it in and they fixed it, only for it to snap on a ride the next day. When I went in with the broken chain they charged me to fix it again. Unfortunately that fix did not work either, and when asked they said they could not cover the cost of replacing the chain yet again. Friendly people, but not impressed with the customer service charging to fix what should have been a new part.
Very Helpful!!! they helped me repair my bike and the service was 4/5 which is great overall this place is amazing!
Went there largely because i liked their story...and i might try giving them maintenance work. BUT i left very disappointed in their prices for used bikes. they may be helping employ people, etc. but as someone with a disabled kids 13000 per year medical bills, they were of little help to me. from what i saw, they want at least twice as much as what you can get from craigslist for models of similar quality, so even with 2 or 3 hours of attention they may give an incoming bike and the possibility of one-stop time saving, it wasnt worth the trip. i might try them for tuning, etc, when the time comes.
What a nice group of humans work here! Makes it a pleasure to go in. Highly recommend the Recovery Bike Shop!
Just went in around 6pm. I have been looking at bikes for a year or so and now even more serious. I went in to Recovery after noticing a Surly fat tire bike in the window. Not one if the guys there said hello or asked if I had any questions. One of them was riding around on a bike testing it I assume but the other two at the counter were talking about one of their yogurt he was going to eat.I just really disappointed in how you can walk in to a place and not even get a hello.I will most likely be heading to Hopkins as I was treated great at Jonny Rocks Bike or Erics as I can walk in and have my questions answered.
Sold me a used bike rack to try on my car, wouldnt work with my car so I asked to return and they wouldnt take it back....very dissapointed with service and respect for the customer who is trying to reduce waste, should have just went to Wal-Mart. Nobody told me that the used item could not be returned.
Recovery is a great, locally based bike shop with talented staff who work quickly and diligently. Ive taken several bikes there several times, and I highly recommend them and their sister shop Recycle.
Very knowledgeable, helpful, and nice group of people. My wife and I felt comfortable walking in as complete bike novices, and we love the refurbished bikes we brought home!
Great customer service!! Had a flat that need to be fixed and was in and out in less than 10 min. Saved the day!
We baught a bike here and it was so nice and you can tell that they put a lot of love into building their bikes.
Fun selection! Road, MTB, cruiser, hybrid, kids. Two-thirds used/recycled, one-third new. Lots of different styles, shapes, sizes, colors, and tastes represented.
WOW what a Great experience I meet Jordan and Zas and they help me with my bike. proyect .and make it Nice and Easy .thank you.
Great staff and service!
Fantastic service, went for a bike for my son and ended up getting one for myself instead! Great staffeta and Cowboy was pretty entertaining.
This shop is incredible! Everybody in there works hard and is incredibly welcoming. I expected then to be elitist bike people and was pleasantly surprised with how amazing and helpful they are. I brought in two vintage bikes to have fixed up, one was a keeper the other had a bent frame but Dave worked super hard to try and find another frame we could use. In the end he helped me figure out through various test rides that I should just get a new one. I got a new Manhattan for the second bike and I couldnt be happier. Alex got me all kitted out with the accessories I needed for both and even installed them for me. I cant say enough nice things about everybody there and would strongly recommend you shop here!
Fixed flats on 2 seperate occasions fast service although I felt like I was pulling teeth when I asked about accessories, used bikes and servicing prices.
Customer service was amazing, especially considering that I am only a casual biker and was looking for something used to meet my tight budget. I asked a ton of questions and staff were patient, kind, and genuinely helpful.
Very nice, staff is very helpful. I got two bikes (apart of the garage sale) for $85
Management is destroying the integrity of this store. Brought a mountain bike here to replace the chain, they put a new one on. New chain broke after one ride (Ive never snapped a chain before, let alone a brand new one, not that agressive of a mountain biker) so took it back and asked them to replace. Manager said they could replace the chain but theyd have to charge full price for the new chain ($50) but that theyd give free labor ($10) hardly the customer service youd expect. Brought the bike to a different local bike shop (301 Cedar Ave S, Minneapolis) and they immediately pointed out that a road bike chain had been put on this MOUNTAIN bike!! No wonder the chain broke... Now Im thankful Recovery Bike Shops big mistake didnt trash the chainring or cassett of the bike. Will never be risking my bike at their hands again, plenty of other truly trustworthy bike shops out there!
My younger sister of 19 bought a used bmx bike from here . When I hopped On it I noticed that there where bolts sticking out where the cranks are bolted to the spindle they hit you on your ankle bones when you pedal . These bolts are supposed to be flush .i was upset I felt my sister had been taken advantage of ! So I took the bike back to the shop .I showed them the problem and explained that those bolts did not belong on any bike anywhere. they put it on there clamp for inspection and insisted there was nothing wrong. I was being stonewalled . At this point I told them that they were hacks and I was leaving. As I head for the door he says if you leave the bike we can order the parts !!! I couldnt believe my ears he just admitted there was something wrong after all his lying and stone walling what a little weasel .I told him Noo I DONT TRUST YOUR CRAPPY WORK . THESES GUYS ARE RIP OFF ARTIST !!!
They ripped me off by pocketing the deposit for bike I rented for Burning Man. I sent multiple follow up emails, all of which got no response.
Everyone there is helpful and respectful I love that place
Awesome place fixed my flat tire really fast and a great price
Helpful staff! Nice selection of Bikes accessories as well
