An amazing non-profit garage that takes care of low income people by providing cost effective car repairs. The staff is amazing, friendly and you can tell they care about their jobs and the customers! There is a long wait list and qualifications to gain services from them.
The Lift garage is a superb non profit garage to help folks with limited resources in the Minneapolis area. I encourage everyone reading this to consider donating to this very worthwhile cause.
Great place to get your car repaired if you financially qualify for the service. My regular mechanic said the work I needed would be over $2500 which I didnt have because I lost my job. Found out about Lift and paid about $600 for everything. Great blessing, good staff. Just know you may have to wait a few days to get your car back and it does take a while to get on the schedule (many times 2-3 months) so make other provisions just in case.
I would give them a zero if I could. Way too many mistakes on simple repairs.- failed to fix some very simple things. However-said they did. Took car to several other shops who confirmed the repairs werent done. Took car back to the Lift over and over-still could not fix. Took it elsewhere-got fixed in no time-wonderful service and works great!! The Lift wasted my time and money. am adding this after reading the owners comment. Did you even read my review? Your mechanics failed to perform a very simple job multiple times kept it all day each time-AND- claimed they fixed it-but didnt. Terrible service! . Another shop fixed it in no time at all-fantastic service . I would never recommend The Lift to anyone. Your comment is incorrect and do not email me again.
Life savers! The staff goes above and beyond to seek solutions to any problems with your vehicle. From the office staff to the mechanics, this is a truly compassionate and dedicated group of people who utilize their skills to help others.
Best workers in town everyone is so nice.
They are amazing human beings! Angels among us!
I’m reviewing this as 1.due to their lack of business knowledge.I was at their location a while back I brought in a friends car for her she had the appointment three months ahead they called my friend after six hours and said here is what needs to be done but we’re not fixing it today make another appointment. I’ve never heard of something like that. Usually gets done that same day.So we make the Another appointment. We spend five hours waiting for the car to be repaired we called twice to see no response from them. They finally returned the call and said they overbooked..I looked at my friend and I said forget this place we brought it to another place a 3 months later. As I was sitting there another customer was telling the same things to that shop we were at,of course we talked about how great the Lift garage is. I’m sure she’ll try to get this review taken out. Good luck
For some reason my review from the lift garage in September 2020 has been taken down..she was a CNN hero I applaud, that unfortunately she has no business knowledge.two appointments for my the car never got fixed because she overbooked once again. It’s a great opportunity for people with low income to come here but if you have to take 2 to 3 days off of work you lose money.do better for your community and its people.
Very disappointed on their unethical practices of trying to force people to make repairs that supposed to be“ Recommended Repairs” which are not essential nor critical for the drivability of the vehicle. Just another way of ripping off customers. In contradiction to helping poor people gain their life back.Their statement in their website says :“ The Lift Garage is a 501c3 nonprofit aimed to move people out of poverty and homelessness by providing low-cost car repair..”When my husband took his car to the appointment that was scheduled two months ago for replacing the drive belt (serpentine belt)that causing loud knocking noise engine, they asked to first spend over $200 on“ recommended repairs “ that are not essential nor critical to be done right away, and can’t afford any way these recommended but not essential repairs!!. It is an ethical practices in trying to take advantage of people with a very limited income, to have poor people sink in more financial burdens, where it is not needed in the first place to do these extra “Recommended Repairs “ which they dont need immediately nor they could afford. They don’t have a good mechanical knowledge to know that should the drive belt breaks the car would not be drivable and would stall on the road.My husband has health problems such as Diabetes and heart condition, among other heart issues that the only income he has is social security disability, and we are trying make ends meet with such very low and limited income. Thanks the lift Garage for nothing, we used to have lots of respect and trust for you, unfortunately it is not the case anymore.
Very efficiently run. Thorough exam of your concerns; made specifically for low income drivers.
Great honest garage for those of us who have little money
I was treated respectfully, they are accurate about cost and keeping but liw, they are professionals at work.
It was closed, I dropped a vehicle off to get repaired, I did an after hours key drop!
