Received their coupon in the mail and called them instantly. We have had problems with squirrels for years. Had other companies work on closing up vermin entrances and replacing insulation for years but always had the same problem. SCI Performance/ South Central Imports professionalism and punctuality are unmatched. They have now worked on 2 properties for us and I can not be more happy with the results.

SCI Performance has been the standard in VW care for as long as memory serves. If you are looking for value, quality, integrity, fairness, and frankly someone who looks out of your wallet, SCI Performance will not disappoint. I have trusted Chad and his team for so many years I lost track. Their knowledge of VW/Audi is vast, and there isnt an issue they cant solve. What I do know is that if my budget is tight, he will do what he can to get my car running in top shape, while keeping the invoice inline. In this day and age, a service shop like this is rare. Dont hesitate to have your vehicle serviced here!

I’ve had my 2003 Golf GLS since it was new. I was referred to SCI after all of my warranties expired and for the past 7.5 years have found no need to go anywhere else. Chad Erickson has always done excellent work and has never “sold me” on services I didn’t need. He’s also been very accommodating when I’ve found myself in unexpected “urgent situations”. I can not recommend SCI highly enough.Jeffrey D.Minneapolis10 Feb 21

Since my last review eight months ago I sold one of my VW TDIs. SCI recommended a place to get the car detailed for sale, well worth the money. They found an oil leak on my Tiguan while changing the oil, ordered the part and had it done the same day. They also helped me get my Audi A4 back on the road with a list of things to fix now and later.

SCI has been my go to mechanic for regular maintenance and repair on my Audi A4 for a few years. Everything from routine oil changes, timing belt, brakes, and even installing after market sport suspension has been done here. First, Id like to say that I take reviews and recommendations seriously and use them in pretty much all of my consumer decisions. Im writing this review as Im very frustrated and disappointed in my experience and I want people to be informed.Overall, this the WORST experience Ive ever had with a mechanic. I realize Im in the minority here, but it could not possibly have been worse. SCI not only didnt fix my car, but Im told by two other mechanics (including Audi of Minneapolis, who SCI advised me to bring the car to) that the work they did was very likely unnecessary and not at all the first step that should have been taken. $450 and a week and a half without a car ALL down the drain! On top of that, when I called to express my issues and disappointment with my experience and offered to let them make it right, those conversations quickly devolved into me being shouted at and hung up on by Ben. I emailed Chad and also left a message (with Ben) for Chad to call me, but havent received a response. Extremely unprofessional. More below if you care to hear the whole story.I recently had my car towed to SCI, as it was misfiring and the check engine light came on. They were helpful and friendly at first, ran the codes and told me what they thought the best course of action was to repair the fuel pressure issue I was having, so I trusted them. They got into it and told me they thought I may have diesel fuel in my gas engine, which was obviously alarming to hear. I took a day off of work, did my research and made dozens of phone calls to attempt to verify this. There was only one gas station/pump it could have come from, so I actually had Weights & Measures go out to the station, take a sample and send it to the lab for testing. Results came back clean, they did say it had a slightly odd smell to it, but everything else tested consistently with 91 octane fuel. I called and told Ben about the results, he was surprised and continued to insist it was diesel fuel. At this point the team at SCI was headed to a convention and the garage was going to be closed Wed-Sun, so I asked if they would be able to work on it for me when they returned on Monday and he told me they really didnt want anything to do with it and advised me to bring it to the Audi dealership so they could confirm the bad gas. They thought having Audi look at it would also hold a bit more weight if/when I had to charge/sue the fuel carrier for the damage the fuel did to my car. Fine, so I paid my $450 bill for the new fuel filter and pressure sensor they installed, along with the towing costs. They did knock $50 off the original $500, as I was having to have the car towed away from the garage because they refused to fix it.Audi took a look at the car and said, yes, the gas smells odd, but that is from the winterizer some carriers use in their fuel, but the gas was fine. Huh. They told me I needed a new high pressure fuel pump. They also looked at the service order from SCI and informed me that the work SCI did on my car, based on the codes that were pulled, should not have been done. There was no reason to think the fuel filter and pressure sensor were the issue. Audi offered to put the old parts back in the car free of charge (if SCI still had them) to prove that to me.Now, the dealerships price was obviously through the roof, so I took the car to another mechanic (the one I usually take it to, but was farther away from where it broke down) and they told me the exact same thing as Audi.I asked SCI to refund me the labor, Id pay for the parts and the towing (a total of $260 out of the $450 bill). I was shouted at and hung up on. Awful customer service and just adding more stress to the mountain of stress this situation has been.If you need your oil changed, Im sure these guys can handle it, but dont go there and expect pleasant, professional experience.

Ive been going to these guys for years. They are the most knowledgeable guys when it comes to VW/Audi, and they have fantastic prices. I dropped my 2008 VW GTI off Tuesday morning, September 25th, with what I thought was a bad bearing in the front wheel. They called me later that morning confirming that the right front wheel bearing was bad. They quoted me a price and I agreed to have them go ahead with the repair. I received another call that afternoon saying the car was done. I picked it up later, paid the bill that was exactly as quoted. It was an enjoyable drive home without the loud noise from the front end. I appreciate South Central Imports recommending the work that needs to be done and what to look for going forward.

Nothing but great things to say about the guys at SCI. Owned two VWs and an Audi that spent time here, on and off, since 1998. Granted, this isnt the Audi/VW Dealer shop where you can make your own coffee in the Keurig and your kid can play in a bouncy house, but youre not paying a small fortune for a tune-up either. Always trustworthy service. Many times theyd replace a burned out bulb or run a code at no charge, just for being a loyal customer. Have referred several friends and family members to them and will continue to do so. You cant operate a business like this for 20 years unless youre taking care of the customers. Give Chad and his brother Ben a shot at impressing you too.

I called for 165000 mile service for my 2004 Jetta TDI Wagon, trying to get it in before the weekend. Chad told me to drop it off on Friday morning and he would squeeze it in by the end of the day. He really meant squeeze it in and by the end of the day. I came to pick it up at about 4:00 PM and the oil was just draining out. He finished the job, including a quick check of the front end and the battery and took it down. Because I was in a hurry, we postponed the bulb change and he told me to come back on Monday for the bulb change and to pay for it then. That is service! I was back on Monday for about 15 minutes for the bulb change and to pay my bill. If you are driving any German import, this is the place for service.

South Central Imports, or SCI are run by a pair of brothers and theyre honest guys who really do want the best for your VW or Audi. Its an acclimation process on the hyper sensitive minor electrical or how much more oil these cars need. They teach people and inform them exactly what needs to be done and what should be done both in the now and in the near future. Sure, you can go an extra thousand miles on an oil change, and no you dont need to change a timing chain that second, but you best do it soon, they say. They have everything from the dads of the world that need their cars to be perfect with no alert switches on, to people like me who always have the low tire pressure gauge tripped. They get that and if oil changes are going to be that expensive anyway, if you have a VW, you might as well visit them for a check too.Ive been going there when I had a diesel (TDI) and with our normal Jetta. Theyre TDI fans and the amount of money Ive saved vs. heading to a dealership is significant. They find better parts for cheaper, Ive googled it after the fact. They love diesel owners just as much as they do with wagon owners. Its a VW and German thing.Ive also found it easy to get to work if I drop off in the morning because the light rail is two blocks away. Theyre always good about dropping a car in their mail slot and getting to hustle right away that morning. Also, if youre ever looking to buy or sell a VW or Audi, absolutely go talk to them first. Bring a 6-pack of good soda and theyll talk your ear off on things to look for and what theyd do to get a good deal on a used car or model year.If you have a VW or Audi, call up Ben or Chad, theyll be great for you and your car.

Honest, Dependable, and Knowledgeable!.After Luther WestSide Quoted me $1,100 to fix an oil leak coming from my Valve Cover per Luther WestSide. I took our VW to SCI to get a 2nd opinion. Chad found that indeed the cover was not the issue. More so the Oil cap seal was bad.Honest = SCI followed up with me to advise that they would like to replace the Oil Separator as its a know part to go bad and cause further harm.Knowledgeable = Chad noticed right away that the oil separator was already on the way out putting boost pressure into the crank case.Honest = After getting my car back and taking it home it started to lurch and throw a CEL. This was @ 5:25, SCI closes at 5:30 but Chad found quickly that the Coil Packs that needed to come out to replace the Oil Separator had bad rubber boots. The failed boots were causing a misfire.Chad replaced all 4 as one should do in this case. He acknowledged that he should be more aware and check the boots in the future. SCI did not charge me labor for this repair.NOTE for anyone looking for car repair: Sometimes when you fix something it can cause something else to go wrong that was failing in the first place. In my case pulling out a coil to fix a bad oil separator cause a shift and a break in the coil pack insulation. Thats not bad work its called maintenance.

Ive been taking my 2001 VW Beetle to SCI for almost five years. They won me over the first time that I saw them with an ignition problem when they suggested that I first check with a VW dealership to see if it was related to a service notice. It was and it fixed the problem. I realized that they could have easily charged me for diagnostics and labor before letting me know about the service notice.Since then I have relied on them to provide me with accurate information and various options for my Beetles maintenance. I recommend them to other VW owners.

Weve got two VWs, a 14-year old wagon and a 12-year old GTI. I took the GTI to SCI when it was about an hour and a half old and they made me come back after I had 500 miles on it because I wanted a chip put in that would give me about 30 mph more horsepower. So I did and they put in the chip. Now I cant imagine taking my car anywhere else. We followed that by taking the wagon to them for whatever service it needed. That Chad and Ben are both good guys is a bonus. Ive long believed that if they cant fix it, it cant be fixed. In the past four months (its Sept. 2017 now) we had work done on both cars: new clutch for the wagon, tuneup for the GTI) and both cars still run like new. SCI is a 5-star outfit and Chad and Ben make it work.
