This is my go to place (and has been since I moved to Minneapolis 5 years ago) - theyre kind, helpful, fairly priced, and I always feel they have my best interest at heart. They make solid recommendations for service and are never pushy.

Very satisfied. They quickly diagnosed my cars mystery clunking. Called to schedule on Monday, they test drove it Wednesday to assess. They quickly called me back with a clear explanation of the issue and repair needed. They fixed it that same day!(I needed new sway bar links and worn out sockets, thats what was causing the clunking. Each link was $89 (right and left), and $52 for labor each side. $336 was my total bill.

I brought my elderly car here for a diagnostic. The issues were explained to me in a way I understood, and they broke down the estimates of what each step of the repair would cost.I ended up not fixing it, and getting a new-to-me car. I brought that newer car in for a pre-purchase inspection, which was thorough and included descriptions and quotes. Moe did a great job of explaining what all the scores meant on the inspection, and what timeline I should keep in mind for the not-urgent repairs that were identified. The quotes are in line with what I expected (based on similar past repairs on other vehicles).

I asked Parents Autocare to install new brake rotors and numerous suspension parts on my 2017 Mustang GT - more than a dozen. Lowering springs, sway bars, various parts to stiffen and stabilize the IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) subframe, optimize wheel camber and steering response -- all from Steeda. It was a big job and took several days. We did it in two stages. Worth it in the end. The end result is a car with superb suspension, braking and handling characteristics. Thanks Mike & Steve! Great mechanic! Highly recommended.

Excellent customer service and auto repair.

Our car broke down a couple of blocks from their shop. We were defiantly panicked, but they were calm and able to get us in the next day. Mike was kind enough to give me an itemized list before the service was done to ensure we were getting the best deal. Like many of the previous reviews have said they are very fair priced with amazing service. I would highly recommend it!

Ive had to take my car here more times than I would have liked in the past 2 years, but they have always been very quick and very fair in pricing, and have given me good advice even sometimes at the expense of charging me more.My wifes grandpa doesnt do Google reviews, but consider this two 5-star reviews because he recommends them, too.

I brought my 4Runner into parents for a wheel alignment. I was quoted around 110$, similar to the cost at the dealer. I figured I’d go ahead and go to parents since it was close and it would be a good thing to support a local business. While the turnaround was fast (next day) I was disappointed with the results. While the car does drive straight and does not pull or wander, the technician scratched up my steering wheel. While this is not the end of the world, it is simply not the professional result I had hoped for. Considering the fact that the dealer was about the same price, that would have been a better option. Parents said they would call me with a solution and they never did.

Mike had a dude-to-dude convo with me about what was going on with my whip, and acknowledged what he knew vs didnt know. Walked me through several different options with pros and cons and prices. Amount I payed was exact same as amount quoted. Got ol Martha back within 24 hrs of dropping her off, too! Strongly recommend 👌

I took our car today for an oil change. The service was done very quick and the price is the same as the quote I received. The staffs were very polite and they even got the busted bulb on the headlamp replaced for free! Its a pleasant experience overall and will be returning here for the next maintenance.

They do really high quality work the past two times they have done work on my truck. I would recommend them to anyone if they want the job done correctly. The prices are just too steep for me. If your insurance is footing the bill then for sure take it to Parents. If you’re paying outta pocket then maybe shop around a bit first.

They cant stop time from flying, but theyve done a good job keeping our cars running.The location is convenient for us. Parking can be tight, so let them know youre coming.

I have not had a service done here but I live one block away and twice this winter they let me stop in and they filled up the air in my tires when I noticed it was really low and didn’t want to drive 10miles to find an air filler. They were always very nice to me and never acted like I was an inconvenience to them even when I could see they were very busy.

Kind, courteous, and thorough! Took my car there last week and they were able to address the problem the day they quoted, and were very communicative and clear throughout the repair process. Despite having the wrong gasket and not having a loaner car available (both of which were out of their hands anyway), they got my catalytic converter swapped out and were honest about the issues with my cars warranty. I really appreciated Andrew and everyone else who helped me! Will definitely return if anything else comes up.

Parents always does a great job every time they work on my car. Its an older car that truthfully should have been long retired - 235k+ miles, but with their help it just keeps going. The customer service is great - they help me make informed decisions to prioritize repairs and figure out which ones probably arent worth putting the $$ into at this stage. Top service! The staff are not only knowledgeable but also very friendly. They took my car in and fixed my ignition cylinder quickly with good craftsmanship and low cost. Not only that, but in the past I’ve had a dead batted and they lent me their battery charger no questions ask. They are trusting and trustworthy.

I was recommended by another trusted mechanic. I took two of my vehicles there an have had poor experience both times. One vehicle they held for 2 months looking for a part that I found online in 1 day. They returned the vehicle still in need of the same repair. The 2nd vehicle I took to them received a tune up that cost over $400.00 the car died (due to timing chain ware) within a month of being serviced at Parents. I expected them to notify me of any issues given I paid for a diagnostic test. This service also took longer than expected. 1 week for a tune up is not industry standard. They are friendly & pleasant, however they charge more than they deliver. Meaning, Im fine with paying dealership maintenance prices if I get dealership maintenance quality work. Sadly thats not the case with Parents Auto.

I have to say being new to the area, and having a car issue come up unexpectedly, like they all do, they got me in, explained everything to me, what I needed to fix and what could wait, then when they called to tell me after closer review they saw more damage called around to find the cheapest parts, and just got off phone on a Friday they cant get it finished in time but are giving me a loaner car for the weekend. Parents is the real deal. They always accommodate my work schedule and deliver top notch work. They also take the time to explain the diagnosis, remedy, cost and options to ensure Im informed prior to making a decision on what to do. I live in NE Mpls but have been making the trip to south Mpls for several years now. Absolutely no complaints and would recommend to anyone.

This was my first visit and they were very nice/honest. It was a very cold day and the owner (I believe) went out and started my car to warm it for my baby. I’ll definitely return.

Brought in my Honda CRV with heater issues for repair. They called me the next day with how much the repair will cost. $350 for a new mix motor, which includes the $85. diagnosis fee. I told them to fix it. Later in the day they called me back and said that the part was on back order from Honda, and will take a week to come in. They also told me the heater is now working. They did not have t tell me that. They could have just done the repair and said nothing. I call that integrity! I paid the $85. diagnosis fee and drove away with nice heat. Now I still may have to repair that mix motor someday, I know where I will take the car for repair.

I brought my car in for a $75 oil change and car check up special a few months ago. Included in the special was checking of all light bulbs. I had an out headlight when I brought the car in, and even notified them of this fact at the customer service desk, just to make sure it got done. When I turned the headlights on that evening, one of them was still out. I referred to my invoice and the box was checked that said the lights were okay. Its really not that hard to flick the lights on and see if theyre working, and Its upsetting that the tech would lie about doing this. I called them back and they said that they would replace the headlight and not charge me the cost of the bulb. But also during the same oil change check up they had told me that my alternator was almost dead and that it was hooked up to the charger and it could potentially die any day. Funny thing is, my car is a hybrid and doesnt have an alternator!! This is not the first time parents has told me I need repairs on my vehicle that I dont actually need, but it was the first time they told me I need something repaired thats not even in my vehicle!

Ive had lots of work done on my cars here over the years. Theyre good guys and do a good job. Their prices seem to be reasonable. Probably not the cheapest in town, but I think you get what you pay for. One time I shopped around for the cheapest guy in town to change my timing belt, and boy did I pay for it. He totally messed up my car. Youre in good hands here.

Ive used Parents for at least the last 8 years and I have no complaints. They do not nickel and dime you, and they are always fair if something is not quite right. I truly feel like I get what I pay for with them, and appreciate how accommodating and nice the staff is.

Ive always thought of quality customer service as not only working to get it right the first time but also the commitment to ensuring that if you do miss something youll make it right, especially when it comes to complex repairs like cars. I took my car in for repairs with the folks at Parents, got it back, and was hearing the same issue that had originally prompted me to get the car checked. It was a tricky issue, one that you wouldnt hear unless the circumstances were just so, but thats not the point of this story. When I went back in they fixed the piece they missed ... for free. That, in my mind, is above and beyond customer service and theyve absolutely won a new repeat customer in me. Id highly recommend these folks.

1/13/17 - In the last month, I had 2 great experiences with Parents Auto. The first was when my drivers side rear view mirror was broken. When I dropped off the vehicle, they quoted me the price of a new mirror. The man at the counter said, let me make a couple calls. The next day before the work started he said that he found a used part. My bill drop by more than 40%. Yesterday, my friend said her cars coolant light went off. She stopped at Joes Brake shop who sent her to Parents. Parents added a couple cups of antifreeze and told her to bring it to the dealer. They filled her tires too. Both times, I felt their service was neighborly, not just business. They will continue to get my business

My check engine light on my 2003 Buick LeSabre came on and the engine started shaking. I had it towed to Parents Autocare.They started with a computer diagnostic which gave them a code for a misfire. After that, they called and wanted to do a compression test. They told me that one of the cylinders had no compression so they wanted to take the valve cover off to investigate. After taking the cover off, they found that the cause of the issue was a broken valve spring. To get to this point was $486.85. Instead of just replacing the spring, they wanted to take the heads off, check all of the valves and spring compressions. Andrew quoted me a MINIMUM additional price of $3,000 to fix the engine. He said they may encounter more issues once they pull the heads off.I told him to stop and I took the car to my mechanic in southern Minnesota. He replaced the spring for $99 and the car is running just like new.

Had my tire patched this morning. Took about 25 minutes. Service was great and so was the price. I will definitely be going back for any tire or auto repair needs in the future.

Ive brought my car here a few times. Twice, to fix more horn, which has been broken for a few years. They did fix it, but it stopped working after just a week each time, and they wanted to charge me just as much to fix it a third time for probably the same result. I also asked them to replace the broken bracket holding my muffler in place. They installed a temporary fix which they told me would last a year. Its been barely three months and it already broke in half. When I had issues with my gear shift (which another shop fixed in about five minutes), they told me they couldnt even find the problem. The guys I talk to here are always really nice, but the work they do is so subpar its incredible. This has been the worst experience Ive ever had with an auto shop. I would highly recommend literally anywhere other than Parents.

Terrible experience. The 2 mile tow from my house was more expensive then to tow it across the city to my normal auto care spot. Parents then told me I had the wron spark plugs which is incorrect and proceeded to argue they were right even after I called NAPA and found out they are correct. They were rude and I will never ever bring my car back or recommend this place to anyone. Waste of money and time

My experience was less than stellar. Car was overheating, they just kept replacing the thermostat as opposed to try to find the real problem. Brought in about 3 times paid about 1500.00, was never fixed. Decided to take it to somewhere else. Turned out head gasket was going bad and they didnt want to tell me the engine was about to be shot, maybe they were happy to keep taking my money?

Came here for the first time about 8 years ago when I first moved to town. On that visit, I overheard the guys behind the desk argue with a customer in an attempt not to do talking a customer out of an unnecessary (sounded like it would have been the wrong) repair.Unless I do it myself, Ive never gone anywhere else since then - and even then I occasionally end up back here to have them check my work and fix my mistakes.

Ive been to numerous other auto shops and all have had their own issues: over charging, long waits, bad service. I had a slow leak in one of my tires, and decided to try Parents because of all the good reviews here and on Yelp. I was not disappointed. I called ahead of time, asked for help, got slotted in for an appointment, and when I arrived early, my car was taken in, the leak repaired and all the other tires checked. Good recommendation to replace tires soon, no pushy salesman just some expert advice. Oh, and the repair was $25. Im going back this summer to get new tires. This place is great and you should reward it with your business. Thank you!

I feel like Parents Autocare took advantage of me. I trusted that they would fulfill their promise on their website of Honesty - do only the work necessary. However, they did nearly $1,500 worth of work when the actual problem turned out to be a $300 fix. I am really disappointed.They told me I needed new upstream o2 sensors and new spark plugs: that costed me $581 (diagnose check engine light, install upstream 02, spark plugs R&R, OEM oxygen sensor, spark plug-copper-OE type 3132, environmental fee).The problem persisted and they told me I actually needed new lower half air cleaner housing, new air filter, and new air cleaner bolts: that costed me $233 (air filter pro-select 22831, install air cleaner housing, lower half air cleaner housing OEM 96536693, air cleaner bolts OEM 94501363).The problem persisted yet again and they told me that I now needed a new thermostat, new antifreeze, and a new fresh air intake boot with MAF: that costed another $586 (R&R thermostat and gasket, thermostat OEM 55597008, antifreeze G001200, fresh air intake boot with MAF OEM 96808176, environmental fee).It turns out a $300 intake boot was the cause of the problem.

Ive been to Parents for a few things and found them helpful. However, less than a year ago I took my Honda Accord in to have the brake pads replaced and get an oil change. I got a call later that day that both front calipers needed replacing and it was going to be over $800. They wouldnt replace the brake pads because they didnt want to touch the brakes further without replacing the calipers in case something catastrophic happened.I drove my brake pads until they were gone, took my car to an extremely reputable mechanic at Isles Auto who replaced the brake pads. He said one caliper was a little sticky so he removed it, cleaned it, lubed it and put it back on (and is no longer sticky).Was Parents trying to gouge me for unnecessary parts and labor? Sure feels like it, and I wont be going back.
