If you need a small quantity of a unique hardware item, this is one of the best places to find it, or order it!
Great selection, organized and friendly staff. Glad to see this small shop is still going strong!
Everybody here is always so super helpful and friendly. So grateful for the time theyre willing to spend to help!
They are always willing to assist. And to step back if needed. They dont treat women like dummies. They have women working there!
This store is the best. The entire staff are helpful, know what they are talking about, and super quick!
The staff are so good, words fail. Give up your big box hardware store, come here, get what you need in less time than youd take walking across an acre of parking lot, and talk with some great human beings who know everything.
Dale, and all the staff of Downer Hardware, have helped me countless times with my home improvement projects/gardening/etc. as I’m a new homeowner, and new to DIY projects. They always take the time to help me troubleshoot and problem solve. I destroyed multiple drill bits attempting to install curtain rods in my plaster walls — Dale instructed me on the use of masonry bits and my project became much easier. They even carry the dog food we use, Taste of the Wild, which isn’t sold in many locations. I will always shop at Downer Hardware over any big box store because of their excellent customer service and care that they offer.
Very low stock but the staff is fine.
Great. Very helpful and always have what you need.
The staff was very nice. In and out.
Great store. Great people.
Surprising amount of items for not being a big box store. Employees are great and keep the feeling of being such a great street. Love being able to come to them with a question or getting the random tool I need.
For small store its packs a punch. Personnel are very knowledgeable and friendly They can show you how to do many repairs yourself to save money long term. Highly recommended store.
I have a thing for local hardware hardware stores. I used to bike up to the one near my parents house when I was a kid, and pester the old guys with questions on how to build/things. I love that they remain largely unchanged throughout my lifetime, unlike almost everything else. I love that you can actually find knowledgeable people willing to answer questions. Sometimes Ill go so far as to poke my head in when I dont need anything. In this case, a piece of my music equipment had broken and I needed a very specific fastener. Something that is standard but not common, Home Depot wouldnt have it, but a good hardware store would. They took the time to go through all their fastener drawers with me, and when they couldnt find the part, pulled one off of an item on their shelves and gave it to me. Now thats a above and beyond level of service.Only caveat-- there is only metered street parking.
Super helpful workers! They showed me all my options and taught me how to use them. Most positive experience in a hardware store ever.
Salespeople here have gone above the call. By helping me find what I need and even recommending alternative solutions, my trips here have ended with me happier than I would have been otherwise.
They always have what Im looking for. Staff is friendly and knowlegible. I believe strongly in supporting our local business. I buy as much as I can in Downer Ave. shops and stores. Thanks for all your hard work everyone.
Downer Hardware is the kind of old fashioned hardware store that has everything you need. The staff has been friendly and helpful and its way less painful than facing a big box chain.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were attentive to my every need and were able to answer all my questions.
The staff is very attentive and selection is very good. Im glad to have it in the neighborhood
We’ve been customers for over 10 years. There has never been a problem the quick and knowledgeable staff have not been able to solve.
Nothing beats a hardware store with such a knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly staff. Always makes for a quick trip, no matter how complicated my project needs are.
They literally have everything, and they know what they are talking about! I wish every neighborhood had one!
There is a lot in this little store. And you get service and help. However I think the prices are high. And I wish the employees would just tell me where something is rather than asking what im going to use it for. I know what im using it for, and am sick of them thinking they can do it better. I appreciate the desire to help, but sometimes they just wont let it drop and im always in a rush when working on something.
Love the staff and the old time feel of this place!
Went to get keys cut. Had trouble with two separate trips to a Home Depot for keys but they knew what went wrong and cut us the right keys the first time. Thanks!
I have been to this place a number of times and Im astonished at how helpful and friendly the staff are. Theyre not aggressive pushy sales people, theyre problem solvers.
Always helpful and friendly
Every time I walk in here Im always out in 5-10 minutes with everything I was looking for. Being a small store they dont have every single item you could need, but for your everyday hardware needs this is a great place to go.
The staff are terrible at answering questions and usually make you feel like youre bothering them.
Some of the staff have a poor attitude towards answering questions and make you feel like a burden on them for asking. Not all of them just some.
Local friendly service.
Excellent service!
Great service.
Friendly staff usually has what you need
