Always a great experience to visit. Staff and employees are very helpful. Excellent selection of what you are searching for or just that one special items you cant find somewhere else. Aways a good visit keep up the good work and practicing safety measures.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee. The food is fresh and hot and the tortillas are made on site. Everything on the menu is delicious.
This store is just like the one on the Southside. I basically go there for the tamales, which are not as good as their sister store but still pretty ok.
This is the grocery store that I went to. Not the restreraunt. Went grocery shopping there by myself. One of the few places I can get dry canary beans.
Every associate I spoke with was knowledgeable and very friendly and ALL of them told me to have a nice day! Very organized and super clean store which made browsing a nice experience. Their handmade chips are great and the tamales are super good too. Will definitely be returning to this location and will pass the word on!!
Two people got served before me but i placed my order before they did and i only ordered 2 steak tacos which are very delicious and worth the wait.
This market has a good variety of latino/ imported foods. The hot food bar is delightful too.
I love this place!!!! I have not had a bad experience here yet. The staff is friendly the manager is great. They have good deals every week. Its where I go to get my fresh chorizo, chicken fajitas, al pastor, the restaurants inside has fresh and I mean fresh made juices.Every week they have a deal of some kind of in the restaurant, the food there is very very good. Homemade chicharrones, the good kind with that little bit of meat on them. And I love that I am only three blocks away from them, the one on 51st and Oklahoma. And while shopping here. I found out that you can buy taco meat and I am hooked, and Im not talking about ground beef people. I also like to get my pork shoulder here for when I make pulled pork. They sometimes have it priced at $0.99 a pound.I think my favorite thing here is El Reys homemade flour and corn tortillas. And if you catch them on a day when somebody is actually making them, its really interesting to watch.
I usually go in the morning when there arent a lot of people. The hot food is always fully stocked, as is the bakery. Theres always a bunch of selection of meats as well. Big coffee and hot drink mix selection like hot chocolate and atole. The produce is usually pretty good too. Whenever I have trouble finding crispy and fresh grapes, I end up coming here and wonder why I dont come here first because theyre always exactly what Im looking for. The only downside about El Rey, and not just this location but all of them...is that they close at 1900. I get we are still in a pandemic, but a lot of people still work and its hard to go before work or immediately after when you have kids. Even 2000 is a better option. That one hour makes a huge difference for some people, including me. If it werent for the closing time. Id give them 5 stars.
Great find! Intimate grocery in safe area. Thanks to employee at Mama Mia, was able to buy DELICIOUS cannolli (sp?) for guests from out-of-state! Delightful employees!
Great place for authentic Hispanic products. Everything you need and more.
Not so good. Advertised chicken thighs on sale, bough it, it looks like everything but the real chicken thighs you buy in the supermarket.. had this experience with ribeye steaks on the past with this market. They were the worst quality meat ever. Not coming back again. Do not recommend!
Nice store. Hot food is ok but they dont give condiments so your ultimately eating dry food if you plan to eat it right away or want to buy sour cream and salsa
Its so quick and delicious to grab some prepared tamales, beans, rice and whatever else, on the way home from work!
Really big selection of authentic Mexican foods that you will not find at a big chain grocery store. They also have a really good bakery.
Love the fresh food options! The instore restaurant was very nice as well.
Love this store, great selection of groceries, piñatas and specialty items.
Everything is very fresh and authentic. I highly recommend 👌. I would have gave it 5 stars but I havent come across any 5 star grocery stores.
Good prices. Smaller store but huge selection. You can find whatever you need and more. Restaurant in the store is also good. You can quick run in and run out for a small purchase or shop for the month. You can even pick up a hot dinner to go home with. Try the tamales.Love this place.
El Rey has fabulous stock ... great produce and meat. I dont speak Spanish an did can be a bit intimidating, but I usually bring a Spanish speaking friend!
Bought 24 churros first thing in the morning fresh out the fryer. The staff was awesome
Love the tamales and Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 rice!
Good place to get things you cant get in regular grocery stores.
Its very clean and the price are good. Bathroom needs codv 19 updates.Food and meat are safe to buy and consume. Friendly well mannered staff. Always stocked.
We were especially delighted by the product displays throughout the store. Terrific visual design.
I love this store the workers are very friendly and helpful. They always have everything I need at good prices and the restaurant is good too.
I havent shopped at El Rey on Oklahoma for the past 6 months. The last time we bought food here the chicken and pork meat I bought was spoiled. I decide to try agian today.. I bought chicken thighs and breast. Got in the car and drove 4 Blocks! The smell was HORRIBLE!!! I pulled over and started smelling the bags. It was the chicken .. just nasty! Took my chicken back and the cashier know right away. He said they kerp having issues but no one seems to do anything about it! Wheres Managment??? Never agian!!
Update: After waiting in line to check out for quite a few minutes (4th out of 5), I get to the front of the line and the check out person turns her light off and says Im closed and walks away. Now again at then end of another line spend a total of more than ten minutes waiting to check out. I mention that the lane tight next to him shut down on me making me wait an extra six minutes. This check out person only tells me my order total, and after payment have a great day.Original: A great little local grocery store in the neighborhood, convenient with a range of merchandise, fresh produce and meats, a small bakery area, including fresh doughnuts. A smaller selection due to store size restrictions but quite a wide variety of Mexican products. The El Rey app allows you to receive coupons and specials.
Great store. If you need good quality Mexican food stuffs. This is the place. The folks working there are very nice. MKE is very lucky to have them. I know I am. CHECK IT OUT!
A very nice and clean store. Quick and easy check out. Love this place.
We stop in El reys once in awhile for select cuts of meat such as rib pork chops because we like a little fat around the edges. Thin slices of certain steak for sandwiches thats about it.
Love this store. Very friendly, clean and wide variety
Hot food is delicious !! Prices are a bit high for grocery items
Great variety, organized, clean and 100% authentic!
Great place to find Hispanic foods and products. Prepared food section is great, they have Chicharrones con Carne, Carnitas, Tamales, Flautas which are all good. Their fresh baked good section does not lag behind, their churros are some of the best I’ve had. Produce section is clean and organized, prices competitively set with big supermarkets. You will find all that you need in this store and then some. I will definitely be coming here again. Just restrain yourself from buying everything you see in here, your wallet will definitely be grateful for it.
Very good specials in their meat department. Taco Loco is the best tacos in the city.
Great array of Latinx foods. They have a good selection of produce and a bakery. Some prices are a little high.
Clean and friendly service. Meat dept brings back that old school butcher shop and the deli/bakery is always fresh along with those warm churros. The only El Rey i enjoy shopping.
This is the only place to go for the freshest cactus leaves 🌵, chayote squash, Yauti Blanca and Jicima
It reminded me of the supermarkets in NYC. Loved it!
Good produce department and hot food in the deli
Guy at the check cashing place inside el rey is super rude.
Dont go here consistently to say anything good or bad we order cakes from here for the most which are good will show photos when I get this year cakes
The Puerto Rican rice just isnt what it used to be. No flavor, huge chunks of pork.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT PORTION : USED TO BE VERY GOOD... SERVICE IS TERRIBLE...THE WORST EVERFOOD IS AVERAGE...SMALL MENU...
A bit roomier than the 35/Burnham El Rey. Bakery fresher than some Mexi grocers, empanada just a tad greasy but very full inside and burrito not greasy but equally well stuffed. Too far to be my regular store but I will be making special trips. Such friendly cashiers, volunteering info I didnt even know I needed!
Fresh produce, beautifully displayed products and friendly helpful staff; thanks El Rey Family Market
Decent Mexican foods store. Fairly typical items for home cooking.
It was clean and the food was great the only thing I dont like is they only have 2-3 registers open and the lines are long but they did their best to move us out in a timely manner
Very nice staff, very clean and they have EVERYTHING!! Milk and other staples are pricier but the choices for meat, bakery and produce are outstanding! They also not only have hot food but they have a restaurant inside as well.
I love this place..every time i come home i stop in for food thanks Be Blessed
This is always a great stop for authentic Mexican food products. The store is clean and organized, they are well staffed and the customer service is good. I havent ever had a bad visit and I frequently visit El Rey.
Tamales were very good.
When I first went to this particular store I did not know what to expect the store was immaculate clean, food was displayed on the shelves properly, customer service was pleasant, meat was fresh and package lovely, prices were affordable I cant wait to go back
Always have everything I want plus you can eat there.
I just love their Barbacoa. Its the best! I moved to Texas 6 years ago and still havent found any Barbacoa that is as good.
The best chimichangas! Their churros are soo yummy too. Once a month or so, I make the trek from Cudahy to El Ray just for their food.
I love the one on 35th street thats my favorite the set up is so nice wooden floors beautiful great customer service everything easy to find.
The Tamales are amazing as well as the unique Hispanic food they offer. Fresh Chorizo is awesome! Is a little more expensive but worth it.
One of my two favorite ethnic markets! The other is an Asian market but you cant get Latin foods at an Asian market lol
Love this store.Wish you had one in South Milwaukee
Called ahead about vehicle registration services they offer, the lady that answered told me no problem come on down and shell get me sorted out so I can get my car out of impound. I got there and the lady says oh we cant register it because it came from an auction 🤦🤦🤦 I told you that before I came when I called thanks for wasting my time
After reorganizing the meat department there is a great flow now
Nice store, staff is very friendly and the hot food is great.
Nice family market
Very good selection of produce.
I went there for a whole fresh pomegranate and they had it along with a lot of other fresh fruit at a very reasonable price
Always find what I am searching for and staff are always helpful.
Like the ready food . Really expensive however. It is not vegan
Food was great, and its my favorite place to go for some great treats and candy
Got most of my Spanish food.
Like this location, called ahead for my deli items.store was clean, well stocked.staff was very helpful.
Great post office inside the store no waiting in long lines, they have great deals on many food items and of course they also have lottery on line and scratch tickets
Always enjoy this store! Great for authentic ingredients for when you want the best!
This was my first time at this location, I enjoyed it. I found everything I needed.
Love this local store, great staff, good food and i love that the store got reconstructed. and also love that they accept apple and google wallet
Where I get my chicken tamales from.
Store is dirty for the most part, but restaurant inside has good food
Love their tamales, Mexican and Puerto Rican rice (con gandules)
Crowded but had all ingredients I needed. Quick check out
Good place to buy mexican food!
Great looking fruits and vegetables at very reasonable prices! Catch a good meat deal when they have sales. Theyre always guaranteed to have some sort of decent family packs of meat somewhere as well. Good bakery and fresh breads being made.
Ample supply of other necessities, not just Hispanic food/products. Even managed to stay well stocked during the emergency, which was nice. And Ive always enjoyed the cafe/restaurant attached. Affordable, quick service, and great food.
Premade carnitas was Perfect Need some more of that
One of the cleaner and less cramped supermercados with a good meat counter. Cecina, fajitas, arrachera, milanesas and other specialties and great prices.
Great ethnic market With attached Mexican restaurant Awesome food
Great family shopping
Love this place! Great authentic Mexican grocery store
Great products & service
Rgular. Costumer great service good produce
Still waiting for them to call me regarding the Tallow I had ordered, been almost two weeks, they have it. sent someone in to pick some up and yep it was there.
The tamales were very fresh and delicious
They have nice new coolers in the diary and meat aisles! Great selection of authentic ingredients. The food at their attached restaurant is always fantastic and very modestly priced. They have a great selection of fresh bakery and sweets, as well as fresh hot food by weight, such as tamales, empenadas, pico de gallo, and of course refried beans.
They are always so nice here and the food is always amazing. I enjoy that they open at 7am since I work 3rd shift and their entire menu is available in Taco Loco, and they have hot dinner-type foods available in the store displays as well. Their prices are beyond reasonable for the portions and the food is amazing.
Awesome food and friendly service. Prices are pretty good too
