Whoa.. just whoa.. this place is incredible. Ally has the best customer service Ive ever seen. Super patient. Everything is scratch, could literally make custom food and theyll work with you. I got the Austins finest tacos, which were fantastic, the sticky chai latte is great and beautiful with designs in the foam. The Vietnamese coffee tasted very good, not a super strong coffee flavor but enough to notice if you like coffee. The environment was gorgeous with big windows overlooking a pretty park and the lake able to be seen through the trees. The entire experience was stunning. Would recommend for anyone. The music was like psychedelic rock so it was chill and easy to study. Cant recommend this place enough. Theres even swings by the bar.
Nice looking shop, but staff could provide a better experience. Was disturbed several times to put up chairs 30 minutes early (could do that after the cafe closes) and about where things were plugged in. Need more outlets. Dont think Ill come back.
Very cute atmosphere, very friendly staff. I explained I had never been there and she was patient and kind and steered me in the right direction :) the Carmel cold brew is delicious!
Enjoyed new varieties of tea and chai. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Would definitely come back
Great location for meeting business clients or just relaxing with friends.
Neat little spot. Employees were helpful and knowledgeable. Prices were fair. Wide variety of products available. I tried a peach white tea and a cold brew coffee. Both were wonderful.
Coolest looking interior design job/ambience of any coffee shop Ive been to, plus amazing options and great quality coffee
Nice location, but don’t be in a hurry for a regular coffee. Have been here twice and had to wait an average of 15 minutes just for the drip brewed coffee. I like the atmosphere, but please pre-brew the coffee…. then 4 stars.
This is an awesome place, great selection, great location. Vanessa was wonderful and extremely helpful. We definitely go back!!!
I love that Fairgrounds has an app so that I can order ahead and my coffee is ready and waiting for me when I arrive. Beautifully decorated, nice outside seating options, and tasty food. The lattes are extremely well made and I highly recommend!
Great food to go along with some really special drinks. I like trying new things and this place doesnt dissapoint.
Drinks are fairly good but be prepared to wait forever for them. Ive been three times, each time service was not terribly fast (not busy and simple drinks) the latest they completely forgot about me until I asked about my drink 15 minutes later (times from the text receipt so its not hyperbole). If I didnt live a block away I wouldnt bother, and honestly even the convenience might not be enough.
Really wanted to like this place, the vibe seemed cool, despite no masks on any employees, but I figure I do me, they do them. Anyway, yesterday I used my reusable to go cup, which they made my pour over into, no problem. I respect covid, but Im sick of wasting cups. Today Im told they havent started doing that again yet? Even though it was done yesterday, without a second thought? I pressed a bit and was told they wouldnt do it, so they make it into a paper cup and I transfer it myself. I have to assume this no outside cups is due to covid so - none of the employees, including those handling food, are wearing masks, yet making a coffee into a togo cup is off the table? If thats not a mixed message, I dont know what is... figure yourself out Fairgrounds.
Great atmosphere, Great coffee.Foods could have a better description eg. Scrambled egg sandwich is actually an egg salad sandwich heated up?I believe there is difference between the two. Also, check your order, I ordered it with egg, cheese and no bacon, it came without the bacon! But thats on me for not checking it before I bit into it.Otherwise its a great place.
Delightful! Great drinks. Nice atmosphere.
Great environment to sit & study, socialize, or just hangout. Adore the plants. Interesting selection of drinks.
Outstanding staff. Great cold brew and hot coffee options
With a clean, nice interior, the offerings of both food, coffee, and tea are great! The salted caramel cold brew in particular is very good. They have a good variety of breakfast items as well and friendly staff. Plus, this is a great location close to several parks and the lake!
It is a fun place. I love the decor and the tast of tea and coffee is tasty. I have to try the food and a flight of the cold brews.
It was great! The coffee was a bit expensive, though the place was incredibly nice. Granted, it was mostly blocked off, due to the Pan-D but, I would go again.
Love the atmosphere! Excellent service and food/drink quality
My first time here and I love it! Atmosphere is awesome, coffee is smooth and the people are so nice. This is not just a coffee place its a rest stop to people watch and enjoy the energy. Big windows, great and varied seating and a Yankee Hill come back program. Come on it, sit a while and enjoy.Try the mocha :) you wont be disappointed.
Great space, big windows with lots of light. Plenty of room for reading, studying, meeting with friends or co-workers. The level of pleasantness you get from servers is hit or miss but it never moves much off of bare minimum. The coffee is fine, they have a very good peach ice tea. Pastries are standard issue Milwaukee coffee house issue.
Food is ok, but ambiance was nice
My daily coffee spot! Drinks are perfect every single time and everyone who works there is so incredibly kind!
Had the mint tea and it was delicious. Cute decor and open arrangement Service was exceptional it’s just the indoor seating was limited due to current events -understandable-and it was too cool to sit outside so we had to wait for someone to leave to sit.
Great location for coffee and meeting clients, but busy.
Fabulous decor, unique coffee options, and really delicious food!
—-INITIAL REVIEW—-This is frustrating because I like this place. I live across the street from the Fairgrounds at State and Astor. I’ve been there five times. Four out of the five times they’ve gotten it wrong.—-UPDATE—-Since this initial review I been back 3 times and they’ve nailed it. The GM introduced herself to me on my last visit (very nice lady!)I’m a fan!
Great vibe and top shelf coffee.
Nice relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit and would go back, if possible, on our next visit to Milwaukee. They hab a very knowledgeable and courteous staff. Thank you!
The scene is very modern and good looking, however the coffee prices are a bit higher than usual but it should be put into consideration that it is downtown MKE and that should be expected.
A great place for you coffee fix ❤
Scone was good. All coffee orders are pour over at this time. One has to be patient for a cup of coffee. Coffee is good, though!
I never write reviews, however from the moment I stepped into Fairgrounds I was blown away. This was a Two Thumbs Up...to the sky experience! The dining area was dry clean and the staff was extremely polite and helpful.Vanessa took the time to go through the entire coffee drink selection with me. I finally settled on a ice latte with vanilla and caramel-only to find out they were out of vanilla. Vanessa assured me that she could whip up something equivalent to my original order. It was absolutely phenomenal!!!I am new to the area but will make this my go-to coffee place! This place is a must for any coffee enthusiast!
This place is great and I’ve started coming often. Only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because their online ordering baffles me.For delivery, I understand why you’d have a $15 minimum. That makes sense. But to order online for pickup? I don’t get for the life of me why you need a minimum of $15 just to place an order and then you go pick it up yourself.Just doesn’t make sense when we’re essentially doing the same thing as ordering in person. I feel like if you changed that policy you’d probably get more online orders.
Bit of a wait but worth it, coffee was delicious and its really cool that they have so many options for roasters.
My go-to breakfast spot. You cant go wrong with their biscuit sammie or a slice of their.
The menu was honestly confusing but that might have been from the heavy hangover I was working thru
I was having a rough week. Decided to go for a walk and stop into Fairgrounds for the first time. Loved the atmosphere and the spacious interior. Chatted with two very friendly baristas while they made my coffee. Ordered the Counter Culture, and it honestly wasnt half bad (this coming from a guy who doesnt really drink coffee), with just the right amount of creamer. That visit to Fairgrounds really brightened my day! Definitely coming back!!!!
Great space, coffee is awesome, become neighbor new local hangout.
Love it, l will get my my coffee no were also.
Unique coffe shop. Delicious and eclectic.
So happy that Fairgrounds has opened in this location. One can enjoy more than coffee and tea...the food is very good and the atmosphere is perfect for meeting friends and neighbors. If you are traveling to Milwaukee and are staying in the area, I highly recommend a stop here to enjoy the excellent coffee and food; but also, a view of Lake Michigan and the park across the street from Fairgrounds.
This place is awesome! The drinks were great, the staff is really nice and the decor is cool. I love the convenient location. It’s a great place to stop for a coffee or grab some food.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Extremely rude employees, bad service, and subpar drinks.
This is an Instagrammers paradise. The decor is lovely. Very modern and clean, a little funky. Fun swings you can sit in at a bar. Lots of different seating for individuals, pairs, or groups. It was very hot in here today (its 50 outside), but I wont count it against them since they just opened this week. Nice quiet location across from Juneau park and near the oak leaf trail. I ordered a vanilla latte with single origin espresso (rotating). It was great. Next time Ill try some more options from the cold Brew bar. The elixir menu is very intriguing and cant wait to try some of those. I like that they have water available either still or sparking self-service in copper mugs.
Great new tea and coffee place! There are some unique teas here I havent seen elsewhere. The space is well lit and has nice decor. The area by the fireplace is cosy. Staff was helpful and helped me understand their ticket system (points to get free drinks later). The only thing Id change is that it would be nice to get the glass container with the tea steeping in it with the mug to pour on your own instead of just a mug with tea in it by itself.
One of the best coffee shops in the lower east side, nice atmosphere and great coffee and cold brew on tap. Highly recommend.
Great pickup service with no minimum. Orders are left on a table by the entry, so theres zero contact. Everything was ready on time and the appropriate temp. Perfect for a lazy breakfast or quick lunch.
Cute place. Very Instagrammable. Nice little selection of pour-over coffees and fun flights of different drinks. There are a few vegan options on the menu. Sparking water on tap. It has always been busy every time Ive come in here, so mentally prepare yourself that you may need to hover around for a bit to get a good table.
This coffee shop is really great. The staff is really friendly and understanding. i ordered avocado toast and then realized that i ordered the wrong one, but they were very happy to replace the order witht one i actually wanted. The food here is really delicious. My favorite one is the ( SEASONAL AVOCADO TOAST ). The quality of the coffee is really good. The only thing that i wish they improve is that they don’t have enough outlets to charge my phone or laptop.
Great location, great food, wonderful coffee.
Best place in downtown to have a coffee or tea and chill. Cool vibe with a modern decoration. There’s also plenty of space to work and stools by the windows with an awesome view of the lake. Nice comfort food and pastries; a bit pricey, but delicious.
Rounding up to 4 from what I would rated as a 3.5. I live a block away so it was due time to check this place out. Fairgrounds replaced Durbar, an ornately furnished Indian restaurant which closed a couple years ago to the disappointment of my family. While it was sad to see Durbar go, I was happy that at least another food establishment acquired the space.Location is definitely the selling point for Fairgrounds, especially if you are taking a walk through Juneau Park across the street. The ample windows provide a great view of the lake, which elevates the ambiance. Plenty of seating space and not too crowded during prime lunchtime hours.I ordered lunch which included a sandwich, dessert and tea for a total of ~$20, which is definitely on the pricier side. Comparable items would have been about 25% cheaper at other locations. For a $10 sandwich I would have expected a fairly generous size but I was disappointed to find out it was not. The items were fresh and certainly edible but the sandwich tasted a little off. Overall despite the convenience of Fairgrounds close proximity for me, the premium prices wont be justifying regular visits.
Yummy bummers
Its over priced, its okay coffee. The breakfast tacos arent too bad. Cool environment.
I absolutely adore the environment and the food is great. There are two outlets in the whole place making it a difficult place to work if you’re like me and have an older laptop. Other than that it’s a truly wonderful place!!
This place is super clean and bright and I love the all of the unique beverage offerings, including some great kombucha and cold brews. I havent eaten there yet, but the menu looks great and reasonably priced. My only disappointment was that beverages were dispensed in disposable plastic, when glass would be easy to wash in a place with a kitchen.
Rude staff. Overpriced coffee
Great addition to the Yankee Hill neighborhood. Nice selection of drinks and food, especially breakfast. One thing to bear in mind however. If you come here to do some work, better make sure your devices are charged up. They have only one socket and it is not conveniently located. But dont let that stop you from coming in, just be be aware of it.
Awesome staff and good coffee
Large open space with multiple seating options. Very laid back vibe. Many coffee options and food available. Friendly service. Views of the lake!
For all the oolong lovers the have great oolong! Great environment and great service. Come get a cup!
Great food, better coffee.
Cute little coffee shop with a unique but trendy feel
Really liked all the food, and the coffee was fantastic, but the seating at the bar tops is extremely uncomfortable. I had to leave after 45 minutes because I couldnt sit any longer, but all the outlets were taken in the rest of the place. Its unfortunate because this is primarily where people with laptops will sit as there are the most outlets. Simply adding some sort of seatback to the stool or a foot rest would help tremendously.
Such a cute coffee shop! Thank goodness there is finally one in this area. Great spot for meeting up or getting work done
The variety of coffee available is outstanding. I love being able to look at the lake and enjoy a great cup of coffee. The service is also amazing here
Food was excellent ....
Loved it! This was below our Airbnb. The match tea was yummy. The seating comfortable to relax and read in. Ill be back for food the menu looks so good!!!
I am pleased with having a coffee shop in this neighborhood, however, the coffee just isnt that great? Kinda pricey for eh coffee. Maybe because its new and they are still working out the kinks? Still willing to come back and try again.
Very nice and interesting coffee place. I was really happy that they opened and served really good coffee. Before they opened, my main complaint about the neighborhood was the lack of a good coffee shop (Otherwise there is just the metro market starbucks really).
Great place! Wonderful selection of drinks.the food is amazing.the employees out did themselves. I will make this my go to place.
Everything about this cafe is enjoyable. This coffee - of course! The service! The food! The ambience! ...highly recommend!!!
Cute atmosphere and it would probably be my preferred place for studying except there is only one outlet in the entire seating area, not very work/student friendly :/ otherwise I enjoyed it!
The large window fronts facing the late are truly stunning. They have a large variety of milks and milk alternatives, great creative drinks, and even a CBD kombucha on tap. The decor is cozy and a great place to sit and talk with a friend or get some work done in the comfy booth. Can’t wait to go back!
Great coffee shop and nice menu. However if you need to sit on one of the stools there are no foot rests and before you know it your legs and feet will go numb lol the tables chairs and couches look comfortable but stay away from the stools lol
This place is a gem. San Diego meets Chicago in Milwaukee. Plants, bright open spaces, lake views and an impressive food and coffee selection. Love at first sight, bite and sip.
Great options for coffee, cold brew, and espressos. Still and sparkling water on tap. Awesome atmosphere!
Not that good…
Coffee and atmosphere are great, but theres hardly any outlets for laptops. Makes studying difficult.Edit: The only outlets are the ones by the fireplace.
Fairgrounds is a fun new addition to Milwaukees coffee shop scene. Tons of unique, hard to find brews at the Brew Bar. Cold brews on tap (Stumptown, Colectivo, Metropolis, Dark Matter and more). If you cant decide, flights are available. Also a yummy food menu for breakfast and lunch!
This place is no joke. Had a great espresso and pour over.
