Trusted neighborhood coffe place. Quality: A+Cant go wrong. So happy its here.
Headlining performers: The Dead Tongues @the Back Room.A converted garage, the intimate venue/coffee house has a great feeling to it. There is a food and drink menu and a separate bar in the back where they showcase live music. Chairs are a, uh, thing- not for the faint of heart. Establishment closes at ten and so do the concerts. Coffee and tea is fantastic and the service is 👌☕🍵
Book events and just cancel or book to get head counts and reschedule. Garbage entertainment booker. Took a weeks vacation just to go to this place and watch a venue Ive wanted to see for 15 years and get the rebook notice NINE days in advance! I was able to refund the tickets I purchased 4 months ago but now Im out two airline tickets that are non-refundable and a five night stay I prepaid nonrefundable for the lower rate! Another corporation that only see their bottom line not patrons who spent a couple thousand to visit. I have a COVID-19 rider policy I purchased but of course the email didnt list the reason for the reschedule so I cant claim it! Literally irate! Who does this with a 9 day notice?!? I sympathize with the people who felt lackof diversity or or discriminated against. Its about Colectivo and their bottom line and no one else.
Bacon 🥓 biscuit = not worth the 940 caloriesLove Supreme pour over coffee ☕️ = 5 ⭐️’s and reminds me of the original Starbucks in Seattle where I always order the Pike Place pour over. Watching the pour over process never fails to captivate me in a meditative like state too!Sportea = excellent energizing iced teaColectivo Coffee has plenty of seating, wonderful WiFi, helpful staff(Sean was great!), and an awesome selection of coffee, shirts, teas, and other gifts for sale.
This company seeks out past pro-union employees and gets them fired for unrelated petty reasons. they are ran by money-hungy leeches. do not give them your money.
Always looking for new caffeinated drinks to try and was recommended the Windy City by a barista and am in love! The blueberry lemon muffin/scone was tasty but extremely hard.
Cozy and homey feel. A classic Milwaukee coffee shop. Plenty of drink options as well as food. Gluten free, vegan, dairy free and vegetarian options available. Plenty of room to sit with chairs and tables of various sizes. Nice stage area for free music and concerts.
Very nice stage area. Combination of small tables and chairs, unlike some similar venues that are standing room only. Also very good coffee, I may have trouble going to sleep tonight, because I had to try three different ones, regular cappuccino, and two frozen varieties. All were excellent, and they have a large selection of eats as well. I plan on having breakfast there tomorrow before heading home to Saint Louis.
Postmates messed up our delivery order big time, but the management on duty completely saved our morning. We are very grateful.
Love this place. It has great ambience for coffee drinking (or ice tea, as the case may be) and reading (or working, if youre not retired like me...LOL). The staff here (much like Stone Creek) are not precious hipster coffee snobs, there is no looking down the nose at folks and I appreciate that big time! I also happen to like their breakfast offerings, the potato wrap thingy (which no doubt has an actual name) is outstanding.
This place is so cute and amazing. I love how creative and homey it feels. In ordered the salted Carmel latte and it was the right amount of salty, coffee and carmel taste. Definitely stop by for a study session with a warm or cool cup of coffee or tea!
Great service. One of my favorite coffee shops.
My wife and I frequently drop by here on our own or together. The drinks are obviously great, but the seating is also a fun aspect of visiting - during the summers, they open the garage door and it feels like covered outdoor seating. I especially like the bacon biscuit, as well as the potato bacon burrito from their all-day breakfast items. Pretty quiet atmosphere, usually a bit crowded. Staff is attentive and eager to please. Great Colectivo location.
Theyre doing a great job of social distancing. Im so happy the chorizo burrito is back!
The coffee was good although serving sizes are a tad small. we had a variety of pastries we shared and all were excellent. the cowboy cookie was awesome!
Croissant slightly overdone but good coffee amazing coffee cake
A lot of project based meetings here! Wish they had a more diverse crowd compared to competitors like Starbucks.
I had never been there before but I actually ended up winning tickets from a radio show to see a band on the stage they have built in the back of the building. It was a pretty cool little place. The venue is incredibly intimate and the menu selections seemed pretty good too. Id definitely reccomend it. Ill more than likely be back in the near future
Its collectivo, so its great coffee, good baked goods and sandwiches. This location is one of my least favorite however. Its not that small but somehow it always seems very crowded and noisy compared to the other locations. It would not be an ideal place to work or study unless you like noise. It may just be the building design, which you cant blame the business for, but its an issue for me nevertheless
Nice coffeeReally convenient spot to visit and take a break
Great locally roasted coffee and unique and eclectic atmosphere. Cool place to sit back and enjoy a cup and watch people.
Beautiful modern atmosphere. Very aesthetic. However it was very crowded this morning, to the point where there was no where to sit. Chai was spicy.
What a great hipster place to go. My oh my. I love the food and the coffee. You can get all the coffee you want for a much cheaper price than SOME coffee shops. Plus, some of there locations have swings. What a cool idea that is. Highly recommend going for great food, service, coffee, and aesthetic. Theres many locations around Milwaukee and Madison and one in Chicago, they should really get more so everyone can get on that good bean juice.
Awesome coffee, great place to relax, get some work done, or enjoy a first date. The shop is very large with several seating areas to suit your needs. Staff is very pleasant and friendly! Bakery items and coffee, superb!!
Yesterday I went to Colectivo because I really wanted A green hornet smoothie. I haven’t had one in a while or even been to Colectivo in a while. I walk in and I wait in line, there’s just one person in front of me. When it’s my turn to order the girl at the register Shannon takes my order and ask me what the name is for the order. I say Carmen. She went on and asked me how to spell it and I spelt it out (loud and clear) for her. I’m thinking everything‘s peachy. There was about five people before me so of course their orders come out first. The way they have things set up because of Covid, they bring your food out to a Carry out station, call your name and you grab it. Hey Everyone name is then called to come grab their food. Everyone name was called except mine. The employee who is bringing out the food just set my stuff down and looked at me, then walked away. Something like that may seem not a big deal but when you call everyone else’s name but refuse to call mine is not treating everybody the same and I’m literally the only black person in there so I felt some type of way. I grab my food and I walked out saddened. Even more unnerving is they spelled my name completely wrong. Shannon spelt it CERMIN instead of Carmen. Let’s be honest here I have one of the easiest names in the world to spell. CAR-MEN, The most traditional spelling, my name is ancient. Colectivo completely ruined my experience shopping with them and I will never go back. Its not like they care anyways!
Friendly staff and hot strong coffee...
Best iced coffee Ive had. Lots of milk choices, even oat. Very cool and funky vibes. Wish this coffee shop were in my hometown!
I have seen several performers at your amazing space!! Will Hoge was my favorite please book him soon...the space has great sound and the ambiance is very chill ... service is on point from the door person to the bartenders! Clean accessible restrooms and hell being able to have high quality coffee at a show is a fabulous bonus. Thanks for creating this great space!
Stopped for lunch. The food is always spectacular. The staff always have a great attitude. Thanks, Colectivo! I will definitely be back and I recommend the food and coffee to everyone!
They usually make mochas with half the chocolate that is wanted. Most people Ive mentioned this to agree that there is not enough chocolate in the mochas. I even ask for extra chocolate most of the time and its still pretty weak. Also the coffee on tap is usually very acidic-- dries out the throat and mouth. The redeeming qualities are nothing to do with coffee-- they are: super kind/friendly staff, and a good place to work/chill.
The only reason theres not a fifth star is the lack of seating for live shows. This is a very intimate and informal venue, primarily designed for a younger stand up crowd. If you want a seat, get there very early--similar to Turner Hall in Milwaukee, but on a much smaller scale. And of course, great coffee! :)
👾 Intergalactic praise to Man or Astro-Man? who sonically levelled the Back Room last night 👾
Drinks are always great, food also very good. I didnt give them 5 stars because of the long wait to get the food. It was about 20 minutes. Other than that, I recommend Collectivo Prospect if you are in the neighborhood. Good for people watching. Meeting with friends and studying.
As a cafe, great. As a concert venue, not great. Just returning from an intimate jazz concert that was overpowered by the ambient cafe noises. When discussing the noise with the cafe staff, I was told that its an ongoing issue. Management, can you think of a way to improve the closing procedures so that the musicians dont have to compete with pots and pans?
Fantastic for meeting up with others but Ive come multiple times and cannot connect to the internet with my laptop.
Good atmosphere. Iced coffee is really good. A little loud, both music and seemingly to be heard over the music, the other people there.
Love this place. Just wish they had more outlets available for charging laptops and other electronics.Great atmosphere. Great breakfast items. Hip space.
Great food and drinks, but their stage setup could use work. If youre going to have cabaret seating, put the seats up front. People who stand should go in back.
Lovely intimate space to see upcoming and established indie and comedy acts.Coffee, scones, and booze are all welcome in the backroom.
Solid. Atmosphere is great. Service is fine. Coffee is generally a little bitter.
Love this place!! Perfect location, great service, menu, and awesome back room concerts!! Josie Dunne and her band, and Naima were wonderful this evening! I will definitely be back ❤
Great coffee shop in Milwaukee. They sell ground coffee from all over the world: Kenya, Brasil, Colombia, Sumatra, etc. The also offer a great selection of warm and cold food for under 10 dollars; a kid menu for about five. Large selection of coffee, tea and smoothies, all coming with a great service.
The Back Room venue is fun, open and well-run! Cool time.
Great coffee and music! Excellent cranberry pumpkin muffins.
Parking is sometimes challenging in this area, but Im usually able to find a spot on the street to run in for a cup of coffee. Sometimes there are homeless people waiting outside and asking for change. The coffee and food are amazing though!
Great place to see a show, couldnt recommend it more highly
I come to this location quite often. There really isnt much else you can say about the coffee. Its just that good. The best. The people at this location are very nice. Some of them have even remembered my first name, which says a lot considering the amount of customers that they see on the daily, and I do not go there everyday. The food, like other Colectivos, is pretty good. Its more food you get in a quick fix, a bind, or when you are low on time. The portions arent always generous, but the ingredients are supposedly high quality. (Organic, local, etc)The oatmeal for breakfast is seriously amazing, even though it has a high price tag. ($5)
Went to The Back Room to see Everything is Terrible. Great venue! Lovely hot chocolate. The rest of the coffee shop was great for working in a cafe setting.
This is such an awesome coffee shop. Coffee is delicious, pastries are great, it has a wonderful vibe. My new favorite place!
10 STARS ... rock solid staff with great knowledge of products, and coffee. The food is wonderful. 15 + years coming here. I really enjoy listening and dialoguing with the staff. When in town I will drive across town to get a cup of joe... and always take a pound or two of beans home. Wonderful place to chill.
Excellent service, and my Mocha was made to perfection. Simply delicious!!!
Always great coffee and place to work and meet friends.
Just saw Sun Seeker and the The Districts here what an amazing show! Great venue, great coffee, amazing prices for a stellar performance. Highly recommended
I like collectivo coffee place. They have good drinks and bakery items. I like the cookies and sandwiches. Good to bring cash with you if your debit card is not working properly. Good place for small shows and hanging out. Good wifi and yummy iced coffee. Wonderful place to relax and do your own thing. And the staff is great.
I saw Jeff Rosenstock here recently and was thoroughly impressed with the venue. If an artist you like is playing The Back Room @ Colectivo, you have to see them. The show was intimate and one of the best Ive seen in Milwaukee to date.
Went for Andrea Gibson. The place was packed. Show was pretty good and so was the location. The tickets said the doors opened at 8:30, we arrived at 8:31 and it was clear the doors had been open for at least 10-15 mins. If you want a good front seat, get there extra early. On the other side, we decided to take the first table on the edge of the backroom and it was a decent veiw if the stage and I was more comfortable as I wasnt crowded on all sides.
Alterra are some of the best shops Ive been to. The Prospect location has awesome atrium-esque ambiance, great people-watching, and plenty of spots to set down the laptop or a book and dig in for a while. The Lakefront Alterra is a must-visit, but when I ambled up here I started to feel like a true local...
You can easily spend all day here. Plenty of spots ideal for laptop work, reading, conversation. Plus I love the banquet table that encourages people to sit together and interact.
One of my favorite Colectivo locations... Coffee is always delicious!
If you order something and they say they will bring it out to you.... Make sure you check for it. Happened to me two different occasions/visits, said theyd bring it and they didnt.Clean, friendly, product is good. Has free WiFi, nice customers to sit next to.
Great music. Chill vibe. Food is always tasty and the coffee is, well, it is rejuvenating. Cause it is coffee.
Went here first thing every morning during our stay in Milwaukee. Tried most of the menu, and everything was spectacular. The place was warm, inviting, and loving; it was a highlight of our trip.
Great coffee and fantastic atmosphere. Each Colectivo is a unique experience and this was no exception. Always fun fun find a new one while exploring Milwaukee.
What Starbucks wishes it was! So comfortable inside and very nice atmosphere. I always seem to find something that tastes good when trying something new.
First time we went great second time we left.. sound system melt down. We go to hear music not bass
Went for a show in the back room...amazing! The sound was excellent and it was an intimate setting, even with a large audience it didnt seem crowded.
Its a standard coffee shop... Nice, clean, open, friendly. Chai was pretty good.
The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The room itself is gorgeous and filled with plants. A wonderful place to see or play a show
Great coffee shop and bakery. One of the best of the colectivo apps in my opinion. Atmosphere is good for studying, hanging out, time with the kids, or anything!
This Collectivo is literally a walk away from where I reside in Milwaukee. I always am able to come in and get work deadlines done within the atmosphere.
I like to come to Colectivo and study for hours using your sturdy tables. I buy several rounds of beverages and food usually culminating in your delicious Cortado Imperial Stout. Unlike the lakefront location, Prospect has an abundance of outlets. However, this location plays music rather loudly and the selection tends to be poppy and obtrusive--last time, I heard the actual Hokey Pokey (it may have been the original, but still). I notice most people come to study, so perhaps it would be good to turn down the noise a bit.
Nice spot to grab a bite and a yummy drink!
The atmosphere was welcoming, there is an indoor air condition seating area and an open air seating area. The falafel burger is to die for. And the coffee is a great price!
I go here just about everyday. Great place great coffee
I had a chocolate chip cookie that was soft and delicious.
Great atmosphere, more rustic than Starbucks; their cafe has a much larger feel, though not just in terms of sq.ft. Coffee and mostly (pre-made) food seem comparable to other higher end cafes. Great place to study or work.
Great little coffee joint, the decor is nice and realistic. the coffee is to be expected and prices are reasonable...
Was very excited to visit this location... however that quickly diminished! Very poor service and food never made after 15 mins of waiting! Assured it would be ready, as I continued to wait noticed preparers of the food not using gloves or washing any of their hands! I quickly asked for a refund and exited the premesis, with no intentions of returning ever.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Coffees great and we almost always meet people there that we know, so that is an extra - special perk!
