I was so surprised to see the number of negative reviews for this place. Ive taken my cars here twice and so has my brother and we both have had great experiences every single time! Incredibly fast, honest, and very fairly priced. Denny is the man!! Hes so patient, kind, and clearly very hardworking. 10/10 I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who is having ANY issues with their car.

Denny was very patient and highly communicative with me as he and the shop worked through establishing the scope of my transmission repair needs, as we tried to establish whether the repair costs would be more expensive than the car was worth. He called me frequently to keep me informed of what was developing, and what the costs might be. I appreciated it so very much. He was patient and understanding that the decisions were not easy to make at the spur of the moment, and had a very easy-going, low-pressure attitude that was most appreciated.My only disappointment was that some peripheral repairs were made by the time that the true scope of the transmission repair needs were discovered, so at the point that we determined that the entire transmission needed repair (which I opted to not have done), the brakes had already been repaired. I felt I had explained the situation and my goal (to assess the repair needs, and only repair if a new transmission was not needed), it was a bit of a break-down in the complete understanding of my goal, but I still was left with an overall great experience and wouldnt hesitate to come back.

We came in for a tune-up earlier this Summer. The mechanics charged us quite a bit to patch one tire and assured us that the car was fine and the brakes didnt need to be looked at for 8,000 miles. After going to a different mechanic, weve been informed that the brakes are fully shot and rusted, and the car has several other serious issues as well that they dont seem to have checked at all. For $280 to patch one tire and a claim to have checked the vehicle, they missed a lot. Save your money and go somewhere else! Its not worth the stress!

After being jerked around by local dealerships with service diagnostics and being told I needed an oil change (which was untrue...) all the way to a full engine rebuild (which also untrue...), I was beginning to lose hope. I was fortunate enough to find Denny at North Avenue Auto who happened to fit me into his schedule, diagnose my vehicle issues and resolve within 24 hours. I cant say enough about this kind of service. Locals in the area are going to be missing some serious customer service and quality care when small shops like North Ave Auto are no longer around. Took forever to get my wheels changed and balanced.

I took a 1997 Ford Escort Wagon (California car with 92K original miles) in for a front end alignment. Pleased with that service. However, when I picked up the car the mechanic recommended struts in front and rear AND the cost would be $1800!! I have all paperwork on repairs of this auto and the front struts were done in 2018. I took the car for a second opinion at Two Guys Automotive, where a friend of my sons works, and after inspection of the car I was informed by the owner the struts were fine. Will not be returning to North Aenue Automotive.

Very rude, I set my appointment almost two weeks ago and when I arrived today the guy at front counter just kept getting slick with when I’d ask him a question you know I work hard for my money and if I’m going to be spending it to get it fixed I expect a little understanding and respect.

Called to make a appointment the guy put me on hold for 20 mins came back to the phone and I asked him when he could look at my car he said hes booked out a week from now ask why didnt guy before him didnt say that could of saved me time glad he did that they wont see any of my buisness very unprofessional

Not professional at all. Went for a diagnostic on my car and when I wasnt ready to commit to them fixing it the man said, where are you planning to take it, back yard bob? Also wouldnt give me a print out on the details of what it would cost to get it fixed. Gratefully I have options of who I give my business to, and I wouldnt recommend them, based on their attitude today.

Great location and friendly atmosphere.

I came into the shop with a coolant leak. Denny was able to look at it right away and found that it was a hard to find part but he would do his absolute best to find it. He called me the next day saying he was able to find it and could have it in a few days. Long story short he had the parts the next day and we set up a time to bring it in. He was in contact with me throughout the entire process. The price was fair and the customer service was great. Would recommend and use them again. Thanks Denny

Stopped in on 10.14.19 because I needed to go somewhere close to where I was to get my car checked after 3 lights came on telling me that something was wrong. This place was just down the road from where I was staying in town so I chose them. And I am so happy that I did!Im from Chicago so I didnt want to risk driving too far and cause further damage to my vehicle. Denny did me a solid and checked it out for me by running the diagnostics and printing out the list of codes for me. He then advised me to take it to the dealer since I was still under 36,000 miles and should have been covered by my warranty.Unfortunately my warranty had just expired as I bought the car back in September 2016, just my luck, per the usual. But the way Denny told me to phrase everything actually helped me save on getting my car fixed as Subaru said theyd partially honor the warranty since it had barely been a month past expiration and the car had some recall items. Had it not been for Dennys professional advice, I likely wouldnt have been able to save any money and would have paid full price for the fixes. Denny also gained nothing from helping me by providing his advice, he just did me a really awesome solid so I could get back home to Chicago and get back to work after being stranded for the weekend when the lights started on Friday evening.In return for his kindness, Ill be advising my friends from WI to take their vehicles here and Ill be doing the same the next time I need a routine service and Im in MKE.I cant thank you enough, Denny! If you tell me your favorite beer, Ill at least bring a 6 pack by since my car wont need any routine stuff for a bit (I hope). 😁Great place! Great people! When I walked into this place I was worried that the issue my car had was something that would cost me an arm and a leg. Denny, who helped me at the front desk, talked me through what he thought could be going on just by what I was saying. These guys are very knowledgeable and are not there to waste your time. They took my car back into their garage and ran their tests. They figured out the problem, explained it to me in detail, ordered the part that was malfunctioning, replaced the part, retested the car, gave me the keys and I got home within 2 hours. The issue was resolved with ease and with much care. I was incredibly impressed by their professionalism and their friendliness to someone who knows very little about cars that could easily be scammed. The price was well below and the overall experience was well above my expectations. Thank you Denny for the great customer service and thank you Paul for getting my car fixed so quickly. I recommend this place to anyone who wants mechanics that they can trust.

Hands down the best and most honest auto shop! Their prices are reasonable and the work dependable. Denny has gone above and beyond to help us several times when our son’s car has acted up. We’ve been taking our cars here since we moved to Wisconsin and will continue taking them here, even if we have to wait for an appointment!

Fantastic customer service and very reasonable prices. I felt listened to, respected, and that my car was well taken care of and fixed. I dropped in this morning, was seen right away, and Denny even brought me out to show me fluid levels and what needed to be fixed. There are a bunch of thank you cards along the walls from happy customers AND local non-profits that theyve supported, which speak volumes about their business ethic.

Came here for brake and A/C work based on reviews after not being totally satisfied with other mechanics. I was nervous to do early bird drop off service without receiving a quote at a shop Id never been to. This was alleviated as soon as I received a call and they explained everything going on and gave me the choice of how to proceed. They offered their own reccomendations, but I never felt pressured or belittled. Pricing was reasonable and Im confident in the quality of service. Ill be back again!

Had such a good experience getting repairs done here, and would recommend anyone to this mechanic! We took our car here after going though a puddle and getting water in the engine. Dennis was so helpful and when we arrived he took the time to show us the parts that got wet, taught us some things about cars to help us understand what they had to do, and answered all our questions. After taking my car to a quick oil change place that will remain nameless, the CEL in my car came on, and it started running poorly. I took my car to a nearby auto parts joint and had the codes read, and the auto parts store gave me a guesstimate of what the problem could be.So, I started the process of calling around to see what it would take to have my car fixed in a quick and as budget friendly manner as possible.In the calling around stages, I came across North Avenue Automotive. I called, spoke with Denny and he explained in easy to understand terms why the codes may not have the answer to my cars problem. He listened to me as I talked out my anxieties in relationship to what might need to be repaired, and genuinely understood my budget constraints, and the urgency involved with me needing to have my vehicle safely operational within a particular time frame.Denny not only honored my time, but didnt take advantage of the situation when his suspicions were confirmed regarding what needed to be fixed on my vehicle. The repair was finished, and I was driving a fully functional, road-worthy vehicle in about a half-days time. I can’t express how grateful I am to have such a trusted, reliable, and friendly mechanic just down the street.In the last year or so I’ve had two somewhat last minute, yet urgent, things come up with my car identified during an oil change at a local chain auto service center. I was looking for a 6th star for these knowledgeable mechanics. Like other women, I have been taken when it comes to car repairs. I have a 13 year old Ford Escape and I brought it here for a second opinion on some expensive work that needed to be done. The previous place I took it to misguided me. They informed me that I needed an additional $3,500 more work done after Id already spent $1,400 dollars. They could have fixed the minimal problems, and informed me before hand, if I wanted to spend this much money on an old vehicle. Denny and Paul, at North Avenue, gave me that option. They fixed what needed to be done and weighed the option of getting more work done verses finding a different vehicle. They spent additional time with me answering questions and informing me of the pros and cons of my vehicle vs other makes and models. This demonstrates that they are personable, too, and not just out to take your money. That is very important to me. I promise you....you will not be disappointed if you wisely choose to entrust your vehicle to them. Do I hear 8 stars?

Another great experience at North Avenue Auto! Ive been bringing my car into this shop since moving back to the Milwaukee area in 2016. Ive had my 1997 Pontiac Firebird for 22 years and shes very dear to me. I brought her in for her yearly check-up and oil change (early Sep 2019), as always, a perfect and professional experience. Denny (front desk man) is SO reassuring, frequently taking me behind the scenes to show me just which parts were used/replaced in order to get my bird running like brand new. No matter what the issue these guys gave me a straightforward diagnosis at a decidedly fair price, wouldnt trust my baby with anyone else. Pricing has always been reasonable and have even cheaper oil changes than some of the chains around. They get you in an out rather quickly and always do good work. I had my car towed here after it broke down close by, best decision Ive made in awhile! Denny and Paul took such great care of me and my car, keeping in constant communication with me. Exceptional customer service, workmanship and price! North Avenue Automotive has everything you would look for in a first rate vehicle service center. After placing my 2010 Toyota Prius on the lift to assess the needed brake services, Denny personally took me around my own vehicle to diagnose what needed attention. In my 20 years of driving and servicing my own vehicles, this is the first time Ive had a technician walk me through the details of my service, start to finish, on my own car. In the end, the repairs here were less than half the price of the dealer, with what I believe was superior service and quality to what was offered by Toyota. I will be recommending this organization to anyone in the area needing automotive maintenance and service-FIVE STARS! Go here!

I found this place on google and decided to give it a try based on the incredible reviews! And folks, this shop is TRULY as amazing as the reviews say! Denny is so warm and friendly as well as thorough and professional. He was able to find multiple problems with my car and fixed ALL of them for about half of what the dealership (or stealership) would have cost me and it was completed within a few hours (very impressed). My favorite part was when he showed me all the parts that he fixed, including my horrible air filters (yuck!) It secured my opinion that this place has integrity and goes above and beyond to fix and take care of your car! Thank you Denny!

Friendly customer service and were very honest

I had called last minute on a Saturday morning to have a leak in my tire fixed. Denny was very accommodating and was able to get things done before he closed up shop for the day. The service was fantastic!

Judging from the other reviews here my experience is the exception. Nevertheless, one of the WORST customer experiences of my life. Super unfriendly staff who didnt want to get involved with the problem I had with my vehicle. I called them a week in advance about having my catalytic converter replaced and when I arrived for them to do the work, I had the pleasure of dealing with an extremely rude individual at the front desk who, after I explained my situation, told me - and i quote - youre screwed. Exemplary customer service skills, bro. Obviously never going to this dump again.

Real honest guys. Denny helped me out with a problem I had with my car, and he was very upfront with me. They do their research about your car before quoting/working on it. The owner really invests in the business so that they are successful, and have the right tools/resources available.

Got my Subaru in immediately. They diagnosed several major problems, including illegal work by another shop. They were straight forward in telling me the significance of the problems, instead of billing me $$$$ for repairs on a car that wasnt worth it.Ive since returned, with a new car, for service. Polite, prompt, and professional as before.

This place is great! They were very thorough with my repairs. They took pictures of some wires that were corroded with their iPad and showed me/explained what they did to fix it to ensure that it had been properly repaired and the errors the last auto shop had made on the same wires. This will be my new auto shop that I will come to from now on.

As expected from last visit

Got ripped off when I bought a used car from a Racine Dealership. I even bought the extra insurance with it. The car internally was such in a bad shape for the price I paid and very dangerous to drive off the highway. Denny and his team help fixed everything to my ensure our safety and piece of mind. When my regular shop was booked up, I went here for a rear brake job on my junky winter beater I knew would be kind of extensive (solenoid, drums, shoes, etc). After a pretty long wait I was told by one of the owners/mechanics that the car actually needed THOUSANDS of dollars worth of work to make safe to drive and they frankly didnt want to work on it - I should junk it. Then he charged me like $50 for the experience.I ended up waiting to schedule at my regular professional shop nearby. Now several months & $600 (about expected) later - everything is fixed and performing with no issues of any kind. Really glad I didnt go buy a new vehicle based on this guys word.My take: Go to North Avenue Automotive if you have a newer car with a simple, routine problem for their mechanics & dont care how much money they might nick you.

DON’T! I’m writing this review because I chose this shop after reading reviews, so hopefully my review can steer someone (especially women) away. I can get past the awkward customer service. What I can’t get past is $100 just to diagnose, and then claiming I need all of these repairs totaling almost $3,000. Of course the mechanic’s tune changed once I got my step-dad involved. I went to 2 other shops that charged me $25 to diagnose and ended up only paying $550 in repairs. Even when I called a Honda specialist and told them North Ave Auto claimed I needed my struts changed on a 2010 Honda CRV they were shocked. Can’t help but feel they were just trying to scam a young woman.

I had a flat tire so I made an appointment to get new tires (which I needed anyway). When I managed to get my spare on, I discovered it was also flat, so I called to find out if they had towing services. When they found that I lived nearby, Paul (I think hes the owner?) drove to my house within ten minutes with an air tank. He got the flat to hold some air, then put it back on for me so I could drive my car to the shop. They then found me a great deal on tires and I ended up paying about the same as I would have at a Sams Club, and it was all done in half a day. AND everyone was SUPER nice during the entire process. Id highly recommend them to anyone!

Went there on a busy day 2 days after christmas, and every other shop in the area had guys out and couldnt look or fix my car for at least a few days and another shop told me a week. I looked up other shops in this area, because I am newer to it, and I read reviews about here that were all positive. Denny said he could look at my car and call me first thing in the morning and let me know, which really helped. Next day, he called the minute he said he would, and since I have an older car he put together a budget plan for my car to have it road worthy but not bleed me dry. This meant a lot to me, because other shops wouldve just said you need that, this that, etc. Then after I told him to go ahead, he had the car done the day they said they would, which allowed me to have my car back for the new years holiday weekend. Again another awesome thing. I showed up and him, and Paul showed me what they did, and showed me the old parts I had which they had fixed. A lot of shops dont do that, and thats going the extra mile. Im in sales, and I treat people the way I would want to be treated and Denny and Paul and the crew at north Avenue automotive treated me great! Now thats my goto shop! 5 stars isnt enough, these are good knowledgeable people that care and dont take advantage. Thanks again!!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I recommend this place to any and everyone. I bought a Toyota Prius from a gentlemen who had purchased a new hybrid battery with a 18 month warranty. About six months after I had purchased the vehicle the new battery went bad. I took it to a Toyota dealership and one other dealership in Milwaukee--and both of them quoted me for $3,500 for a new battery, which didnt include the cost to install it. I did some Google research and stumbled upon North Avenue Automotive.Paul at North Avenue Automotive spent hours on the phone with the warranty company (who refused to give me a new battery-even though it was still under warranty- but due to the fact the gentlemen who purchased the battery was no longer the car owner they werent willing to work with us). Paul spent over seven hours total of being on the phone talking back and forth with the warranty company and the manufacturing company, and was finally able to get them to work with us and send out a new battery.Rather than having to spend over $4,000 my total came to $1,500 including a tune up. They did an absolutely amazing job on the work of the car and blew my mind by going above and beyond what any other dealership would have done. I highly recommend North Avenue Automotive to everyone!

Very rude & unprofessional

I was initially skeptical about going to an auto shop as the stigma is that they overcharge. I however elected to go get my headlight looked at to see what the issue was. Long story short, they found the issue & incorporated the inspection fee in the repair cost. (A lot of shops dont do that). Excellent work by these guys lol I can drive outside after dark again. Thanks for the great work.

Denny at North Avenue Automotive Repair was beyond fantastic. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with the people for our extended warranty. When they said they wouldnt cover it, he explained to them how it should be covered and fought on our behalf. When we thought our car would need towing, I called Friday near the end of the day and asked him if we could have it towed to to their lot. The next morning, when he didnt see our car, he called me concerned and wanted to make sure we were alright and make sure everything was okay with the car. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. I have done everything in my power to recommend him to everyone I know in person. I mean seriously, who brags about their car mechanic and tries to get new customers for him? Someone with a phenomenal mechanic, thats who.

The North Avenue Automotive team diagnosed the problem as a bad hub bearing and was able to remedy to the situation and get me back on the road within a few hours. Also threw in a front end alignment free of charge. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to go service your car.

I brought my (old and beat up) truck in for an alignment. The tech put it up on the lift and immediately came to get me from the waiting area. He showed me what was wrong and explained that, while he could align it, there were some more problems than just that and that it wouldnt be worth it. I really appreciated the honestly and the fact that he took the time to take me out under the truck to show me the problems. I was also really pleased with his reaction when I said thanks, but Id like to fix it myself. The tech was really polite and helpful even after I made it clear that I was going to tackle this fix myself, and even pointed out a few things that were worn but not broken that he suggested I replace while I have the rest apart.I was really thrilled with the level of service I got here, and I will absolutely be returning.

The service at North Avenue Auto is beyond anything I have experienced in auto repair since I moved here from Green Bay. The first time I came in, it was for a simple brake pad repair. When I brought my car in, Denny greeted me and dropping my car off was quick and efficient. I ended up needing the rotors replaced and a new serpentine belt as well, and received a call asking if I wanted it fixed. I was hesitant to agree to this, being that most auto repair shops tend to take advantage of customers with as little automotive knowledge as me, but they said it was something that really needed to be done as soon as possible. When I came to pick my car up, Denny brought me back into the shop and showed me the old parts from my car and showed me what they were supposed to look/ function like, which I really appreciated and it really assured me that I needed the parts and that I was really being looked out for. They even ran a diagnostic for issues that I may want to look out for in the future.Ive been back since and they made sure to ask if I was still satisfied with the repairs, which were phenomenal and my car with 204,000 miles is running as smooth as ever! Great service, I will definitely be a long-term customer!!

I have been a customer of North Avenue Automotive for years; Denny provides great communication, fair prices and my car is always ready for pick up at the time they promise. Denny and the guys are the only mechanics I want working on my little blue Jetta.

I had my brakes done by another mechanic up in my area, after getting it back I had started hearing a noise coming from the passenger right front of the car; three different mechanics looked at it telling me not to worry that it was just brake dust, and it would work its way out. I had my car down at North Avenue Automotive where they looked at it. Paul and Denny both were awesome! Paul was able to confirm my fears of it being something more than just brake dust, and fixed the problem. Denny kept in constant contact with me letting me know what was going on with my car, what was found, etc., he even asked if I wanted the old parts back so I could see what had happened (our shops up here do not do that) I got my brakes and rotors done and it drives like a dream again, Again Thank You so much!! Even though I live an hour away you now have a new customer, extremely happy with the service I received from them. There are not many shops that actually know what they are doing along with being honest about any issues that are starting to show with your vehicle that will probably need to be fixed down the road.

If you want it done right, make an appointment ASAP. Foreign or domestic no problem. Done right the first time, dont waste your time elsewhere.

I dont like the fact that you are charged a diagnosis fee of $100 dollars. It would be okay if the fee were included in the repair but its not. So even if you know the problem they will still charge you $100 plus the seperate cost of the repair....not cool.

My daughters Chevy Spark had some sort of drive-train problem so I took it to North Ave. to get it checked. The scan indicated a transmission problem, which the mechanic there could have addressed himself. However, he found the warranty hadnt expired yet so he arranged for me to take it to a dealer who was authorized to do GM warranty work. The transmission was replaced by the dealer at no charge. North Ave. Auto gave up the chance to make a few bucks in order to do what was best for me.
