First thing first: this is not about the staff members that worked today. This is about a culture that this business owner/s seem to be generating. Something that perhaps the staff themselves are unable to articulate or be heard about.I called to make my appointment for new glasses for myself and my partner awhile ago. I told them we didn’t have glasses at the time, and that they were missing or broken.Today was my appointment and I get there and the poor receptionists are being forced to do the job of their billing department. The lab worker is forced to do eyeglass fittings due to short staffing and people quitting. Now I know this is common in fast food but in vision care? Tells me they’re not being compensated well enough. That the incentive to stay isn’t present. This means that those who do end up staying and are loyal get abused and overworked. This is not a healthy climate for workers. It certainly isn’t a good place for patients either. No one communicates properly when this happens. Today I came in and got my exam but no one was expecting me to want to also pick out glasses apparently so after wondering aimlessly with my son who struggles with masks looking at glasses I was told that another person was due to come in but that the employee could try and squeeze me in before that but I just decided to make an appointment for glasses… this was never communicated prior to this. The employee validated my experience by saying that she knows. So once again, not a new thing.I hope that the employees see this and feel empowered to take a stand together because after I get my glasses tomorrow I’m not returning to this sinking ship.

They never, and I do not mention this lightly, they have never answered a single phone call after my eye appointment with them. I was supposed to receive a box contact lenses, which was free with my insurance (and recommended as in network) - so I assume they never made an order for it after I requested for it - and it was confirmed by the receptionist in charge. Its been 2-3 months and I have not received 1) a call/email 2) said set of lenses 3) an email/phone call back, in response to my multiple calls. I was also trying to purchase a set of glasses, which my insurance covered - and heard discussing about staffing issues and asking me to comeback. Now if a business was interested in something called customer care, they would have done the most basic follow up with me. Forget follow up, I have tried calling them several times and not received a single courtesy call back from them. This also happened when I had setup an appointment, but at the time, I got a phone call back about an hour before my actual appointment, confirming the time. When I did get to them, the service was pretty good, so I will not comment saying it was lacking there. What is sorely lacking is basic courtesy of following up. Im trying to pay my medical bill on time, and am concerned that instead they will submit my unpaid bill to claims.Update: Sep 8, 21: I got a single call the day after posting the initial review (Aug 31, 2021) from someone named April, which unfortunately went to voicemail. She referred to the google review and gave me the same phone number listed that no one ever answers. I have continued to call multiple times (Sep1, Sep 2, Sep 3, Sep 6, Sep 7th, Sep 8) over the span of multiple days, and not once has my call been answered. So, I just called my insurance care provider and they mentioned that there has never been an order for contact lenses made. No surprises there! If they can send me a final bill with a breakdown of charges (no late charges), I will be happy to never contact them or recommend them ever again.

Dr Jenness was very polite, professional, and clear speaker. He took the time to go over my results of the testing that was done and gave me some very good recommendations to help with some issues I was having with my eyes. Dr Jenness is a new doctor to the practice and I highly recommend him to anybody looking for a new eye doctor. All the medical assistants were very nice too!

I came to the office today to buy eyeglasses and sunglasses. Miss Jess worked with me, and I’m sure glad she did!!! She is so knowledgeable of the inventory in the office! She first took the time to talk to me about what I was looking for, then selected excellent options for me to try on! The first pair she has selected for me to try are the ones I ended up purchasing, they were perfect!! Similar experience with the sunglasses! I highly recommend this office, they exceeded expectations and were lovely to work with!

My wife is a regular patient of Dr Russell who apparently is no longer there. Today she saw Dr Arima. She truly loved Dr Russell and today had a very pleasant experience with Dr Arima. Both doctors are knowledgeable, kind, and took time to give her excellent care.Unfortunately, similar to other reviews we just read, outside of the doctors the office has problems. My wife consistently has received rude, incompetent service from the receptionists/front desk staff. This was something she mentioned before and today the same thing happened. The receptionist had issues with our insurance- didn’t seem to be able to locate it in the system or something. This is exactly what occurred 2 years ago (it was eventually figured out) and ironically, we haven’t changed our coverage. Instead of trying to figure it out, the receptionist very rudely spoke with my wife in a very accusatory way. Understandably there will be confusion or a need for more information on insurance from time to time, but dealing with customers politely or trying to help customers rather than just bark at them usually works better.Despite the good doctors, my wife does not wish to return.

Just had a very disappointing visit to the store. Dr. Kurt is a really nice person and he knows what he does. However, that seems to be the only good thing about this store and everything else just goes right downhill from here. The front desk is among the worst Ive experienced. Rude, unprofessional, chaotic. Here are a few examples: 1. The front desk was having problems locating my vision insurance and throughout the entire process they were just bossing around requesting various information from me. And when they finally found my insurance, no apologies were made for their incompetence. 2. The front desk seems to know nothing about what my insurance covers. I was trying to order some contact lenses and they told me my insurance doesnt cover it so I will need to pay by myself. I showed them my insurance policy which clearly says that it covers contact lenses, and they were like oh, ok, then I guess you dont need to pay. Again, no apologies whatsoever. 3. After a recent eye exam in the store, I went there hoping to order some contact lenses. The front desk didnt find my prescription (you heard it right!) in their system and asked me to schedule another exam. I did what they asked, waited in the room for ~1hr past my scheduled time for Dr. Kurt to show up only to tell me that I do have prescription in their system and there is no need for another exam. And you guessed it, no apologies were made from the front desk who messed it up.Piece of advice to the front desk at this store, if you think of yourself as a boss at work and like to treat people as if you own them, please consider pursuing a different career. Front desk clearly doesnt suit you and you are ruining many peoples days. Thank you.

Such a waste of time.According to their website they can diagnose/help with binocular vision issues which is the entire reason I scheduled here. I asked 4 times about it, once with the person who scheduled me, once with the medical assistant who brought me back to the room and twice with the Dr. I brought it up at the beginning of the appointment, and after maybe 20min of a usual eye exam I was on my way out and brought it up again. The Dr acted annoyed that I was taking up more time, and he either didnt know what I was talking about or was being sarcastic (tone was condescending at best) because he asked Do you wear binoculars?. He didnt ask about any symptoms, just sat me down and waved some prism lenses very quickly in front of my face before insisting that bifocals are all I need. He also didnt mention the apparent stigmatism I have (never had before), only learned about it when I was looking at the prescription at home. Now, I wouldnt mind being told I was fine if he had actually listened to what Im struggling with - I dont expect to know more then someone who went to medical school - but this was really rude and rushed. I doubt I would have bothered with a review if he had even listened and given me a referral to a specialist even though the site says they can help.Fortunately, I decided that I wanted a second opinion because I was just diagnosed with a slight strabismus and moderate to severe binocular vision instability (if my brain didnt turn off input from my left eye I would constantly be seeing double, instead of just when I turn my head or get really tired). I dont actually need reading glasses at all (though they help for 30min-1hr until I get too dizzy) - my vision isnt blurry, just doubled and until yesterday when someone took the time to explain/test I didnt know there was a difference. Its nice to know constantly getting dizzy isnt normal and theres help.I knew this sort of problem isnt usually picked up by a regular optometrist, the fact that both their website and the person who scheduled me confirmed that they are equipped to evaluate binocular vision problems isnt acceptable. It makes it seem like a) they just want to get you in no matter what (because money) or b) they are incompetent. It was an absolute waste of my time, and more frustrating it was a waste of the 1 eye appointment every 2 years that my insurance covers.Unfortunately, the problems werent limited to the Dr visit. There was a whole thing pulling up my insurance (I had already offered the info or it was taken when I scheduled the appointment, cant remember which) so it took 30ish extra minutes to get me in to the room. The gal seemed new (no problem with that! Weve all been there), and I would just suggest getting help if the process is taking 10min+. Finally I came up for the 2nd/3rd time and someone overhead me offering additional information (again) so it was fine... though she was rather snappy - dont blame the new(?) person for not asking her for help.Overall just a really frustrating waste of my time and insurance. If you can, go somewhere else. The one positive was the medical assistant person who brought me to the room, she was super nice and gets an A+.

I had been made aware of my problem from another ophthalmologist and was not able to take care of my problem so was sent elsewhere. I chose this Dr. because of the advertisement stating they were specialists in prism lens (neurolens). When I arrived I told the Dr. multiple times DO NOT change the strength of my lens.He did not listen to a word I said. His comment was “ We will try it this way first because the other way is more expensive”. I was furious. Using a red light and a white light light is to expensive? Who is he to dictate to me how much I should spend?Consequently when the glasses came back they were exactly what I expected. The lens were so strong I was unable to see from them. I refused to take the glasses and got my money back.He failed me! He knew my problem. He new my diagnosis.

My family has been seeing Dr. Arima over 25 years. I am a yearly visitor for medical issues (floaters and cataracts). This has been a difficult time for businesses; to protect their staff, the families that patronize them, and to follow all the CDC mandates. I had my checkup yesterday. I was greeted with friendly smiles and enthusiastic staff members. In the past there would be two or three people at the front desk and usually 5 or more adults and children in the front area. I noticed that there was no one else present. Due to Covid protocol, the clinic is operating on minimum staff and patients to protect against spreading the virus. As a teacher during the quarantine through today as I am currently teaching summer classes, I have had to adapt my teaching to remote learning with no compensation, listen to the complaints of patents, covering for staff leaving as distance learning isn’t for them or they are tired of the hassle, and follow mandates for schools. I want to thank Dr. Arima for caring about the staff and patients in a challenging situation.

They also didnt seem knowledgeable about my insurance and asked if I meant something else. I called the insurance company and assured me I did have vision insurance. My insurance company also called their office and was also met with rude attitude and explained to my insurance company they couldnt see my benefits because they dont take it. When the insurance rep asked what website they were using to look me up, they stated Premera which is obviously not what I have, Lifewise. The entire front office staff is not friendly and rude. Very bad experience with Dr. Kurt Russell and his staff. The quickest eye exam ever. He spent about 5 minutes or so. This doc started with my existing eyeglasses and made questionable adjustments a little and done. The prescription is now way off and they wont make another appointment for a retest because I have already returned the glasses. Really? From the beginning, they did the wrong job about insurance, too -- the scheduler over the phone said my insurance would be accepted but said a different story onsite. Luckily I had another insurance to use.Dr. Russell ignored/forgot my request for my PD values. And unlike other docs Ive seen he didnt even look at the eye images they took onsite. They say he would call me if theres a problem. The most critical issue: he touched my eye without washing hands! Now I suffered from this eye pain on the left eye he touched with tainted hands. I just hope I didnt contract coronavirus from this! Finally, he skipped dilation even if requested.Yeah, they are all friendly and nice and all, of course.UPDATE -- August 16, 2020They replied to my posting. Here are my responses to their responses.>> The starting point of the subjective refraction is the current lens power within your glasses. This is common practice.Im not questioning this. Im questioning the final outcome of the incorrect prescription and refusal to provide a retest until somebody posts a negative review!>> one of our opticians could measure that value for you and write it on your prescription.Well, I did see the optician but he did not perform it.>> In addition to washing my hands numerous times during the day, I also ALWAYS wash my hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the examination room.I dont understand whats the point of doing all this if you dont wash hands JUST BEFORE you touch patients eyes after touching the keyboard, door knobs, etc.>> I reviewed the images within one minute and informed the technician to let you know the results while you were still in the office; which she did.Well then, it sounds like this place also has a communication problem or the doctors lying here, or something else. The technician lady clearly told me that I would hear back the result over the phone later.

The whole office staff and front desk at this location are running the worst customer service experience Ive ever received at any doctors office. If you expect ANY of them to follow up with you regarding any sort of orders for contacts, lenses or frames, look somewhere else. You will waste your time consistently calling them only for them to either send you to voice mail during regular business hours, or say they will follow up with you in a few hours and NEVER get a call back from them. Every interaction I have had with them over the phone suggested NONE of them at the front desk know what they are doing. They are always confused about how to help you and are rude and short with you. Whoever is in charge of the front office team needs to revisit the very basics of customer service training with their staff. Dr. Arima and the staff at Mill Creek Vision are the best! Ive been a patient for over 20 years and its so nice to be recognized by the office staff who are very professional and pleasant. Dr. Arima is very thorough and spends time answering questions and explaining eye health. His findings of a potential health problem spotted through an eye exam led me to work with my primary healthcare provider to rectify a potentially hazardous medical condition. While being an eye specialist, he also cares about the whole persons well being. Thanks Dr. Arima!

I love the staff here. I’ve recommended both friends and families to come to this place because everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable (very important when seeing an optometrist of course), and has a great selection of glasses. My husband and I go here, and now, my three year old (he was two at the time of his first visit). My son went to his first eye exam and he felt very comfortable with everyone. Minus his eyes getting dilated (he’s three and yes it was a struggle for those drops to go in because he just didn’t want them in his eyes) but he was praised and treated so kindly (bless their souls!). Good news is, he doesn’t need glasses. Bad news, he’ll have to come back for a next check up before kindergarten 😂.

Dr. Wong is very thorough, took her time with me and was pleasant to work with. Her suggestion of progressive lens is something new I am trying.Jessica Tovar, the Optician, helped me to find just the right frame for my individual needs. After learning about me, she then made a suggestion on a lens as well. She took her time, was pleasant to work with and has a wonderful personality. When I came back to pick up my glasses, she remembered my name and several things about me; that was a surprise!I will definitely continue to go back to Mill Creek Vision.

Thorough. Thats what this office is. Ive always enjoyed Dr. Arima and his staff. The opticians do a great job too helping with frame choices. Allow plenty of time because you are going to receive a thorough exam and lots of help making decisions about frames and lenses.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Mill Creek Vision Center. They are always incredibly friendly and helpful. The ladies that run the front office are superb and obviously the glue that keeps everything running smoothly. I decided to try wearing contacts for the first time. Dr. Arima was extremely knowledgeable and explained my options clearly while patiently answering all my questions. I was literally astonished with how well I could see with the first set he picked out for me. I’m very happy and looking forward to my next appointment when I’ll get my training and contacts to take home. I love this establishment!

In a world of angry consumers, I would like to share my positive experience. I am someone who is extremely sensitive when it comes to eye care. This was my second visit to the eye doctor EVER. I was greeted by a very kind receptionist (forgive me I did not catch her name) who calmed my nerves immediately - despite my indecisive mind on dilating my eyes versus a digital image. After a few moments in the waiting area, I was greeted by Lisa who conducted a thorough and engaging eye exam. I cant speak highly enough of her patience and genuine care for my comfort during my visit. Thank you Lisa!My exam was rounded out by Dr. Russell, a quiet gentleman yet quite thorough and patient as well. I never felt dumb asking my questions which can be hard to find sometimes! The end of my visit was rounded out with Evan, one of the opticians. I was to pick out my first pair of glasses and really couldnt have done it without him! I had no idea what I was looking for but he knew exactly which direction to go in after a few simple questions. He walked me through what I was covered for and how everything would work. Such a friendly face and helpful person to finish the appointment with, I am very grateful for his knowledge and expertise.Overall the office was warm and inviting. I witnessed a staff who seems to generally enjoy each other and the laughter they share is infectious. I even spotted Dr. Arima sporting a pair of red womens glasses for a goofy picture. I will not go anywhere else but Mill Creek Vision for my eye care needs!!!

My husband & I have gone to Dr Arima for years. He has been very thorough in our eye care. I also had my parents see Dr Arima for their eye care. They really liked how he explained everything he was doing. His staff has always been professional & positive. We have moved away from the area over 10 years ago but we still come back for our eye exams.

Theres a few things I really like about this clinic: cleanliness, service from the staff, the doctor aid/ nurse and the doctor. I asked Dr. Russell tons of questions and he was always polite and caring. I love that he lets me try out contact samples for free when I try something new. There a certain aid that works there, shes really young, looks Asian and shes very professional and nice. Last time I went there though, I barely got time off from work and arrived 5 min. to closing and there was a different aid working and she seemed like she was in a complete rush to help me leave, it felt rude because the place wasnt even officially closed for the day. Hope I dont get her again. Besides that, I love this place.
