This is a go to spot. The atmosphere, ambience and music were on point. It was very busy, we order tons of options from menu and were concerned about space to eat. The manager Henry understood our concerns and found a remedy immediately. He was professional, polite and helpful. Great food at a great price. Definitely felt I was getting my monies worth. The final highlight was James (the polite homeless man who was dancing on the sidewalk). Make sure you visit this place.
Best fried chicken I’ve ever had.Really this place is insanely good, but make reservations if you can or try your luck by showing up early. Oxtail fell off the bone, fried chicken was crunchy and juicy, and the red velvet ice cream completely took my breath away.Service is also awesome - Inti and Robin killed it. 11/10 would recommend.
This place is a real gem!! Ive wanted to visit Red Rooster in NY for years, but never got around to it. While in Miami for a few months, I randomly saw Chef Marcus Samuelsson at a store and thought I wonder if he has a restaurant here? With a quick google search, I discovered he had just opened a Red Rooster in Over Town.Everything was absolutely amazing. So amazing I went here at least once a week while I was in town. Service, food and atmosphere were the best! I highly recommend you swing by Red Rooster while in Miami.
What can I say about this restaurant. The flavors of the food was out of this world. the vibes at the bar area remind me of a 80s 90s 30 and old club..Really cant wait to go back and try the oxtail. The sides or just as good as the meal. Only downfall is the desserts nothing spectacular based on what I can see. I was looking for some deep Southern comfort desserts didnt happen.
This place is amazing. The food delicious and if you are unsure of what to order if its your first time no worries if you have a server like Inti who is very friendly, attentive, caring, excellent customer service, he knows the entire menu he can guide you in the right direction. He did so for us during our visit last night and everything was on point. Inti will now be my go to server anytime Im in town. The fish was so delicious it practically just melted in your mouth. Thank you Inti for this amazing experience.
Exceptional dining experience in the tradition of its sister restaurant in Harlem. Our dinner and service was just a wow! Even though we just came from the baseball game and was dressed as such we got treated like one of the players. Our waiter gave us a tour of the private rooms, patio, ice cream shop & upstairs party space. We shared the smoked Rooster with the most delicious broccoli and truffle mac & cheese. The chicken was flavorful as well as juicy Too bad we could only give 5 stars. Same for their T-bone steak and truffle sauce which our son had. While they dont have the Obama short ribs and some of the sangria choices they have at their Harlem restaurant it still is exceptional nontheless. The manager mentioned that while a lot is copied from their Harlem location, they also want this location to stand out on its own and be different. Definitely will be back.
It is a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The energy and vibe of the restaurant are excellent. We started with Marcus Cornbread, and the jalapeno butter brings the cornbread to another level, starts crispy, and it gets softer as you work your way to the center, followed with the Crispy Chicken super crispy outside, moist and full of flavor inside. I had the Sour Orange Pig Ribs, and the ribs fell off the bone; the sour orange enhanced the taste of the meat. I almost forgot about the deviled eggs topped with caviar and chicharron. Please dont leave without trying them; try a bit of egg with the chicharron, and wow, the taste and texture combination is excellent will certainly repeat. To all the staff, thank you you made my brothers birthday great.
On July 4, 2021 my wife and I decided to go out for an early dinner at Red Rooster, Overtown, Miami. This was my second visit but the first for my wife who had always wanted to check out the restaurant. Our experience was disappointing.1. We ordered a burger and the crisply fish from the special July 4th., menu in addition to potato salad and coleslaw. The fish was undercooked. We could only eat the outer part of the fish. My wife was told that she could not decide on the temperature of her burger as their burgers are cooked in a standard way. We thought that was very strange for such a restaurant. Of course, she didn’t eat the burger because it was not cooked to her liking.2. We could hardly eat in peace because of the amount of flies. We had to cover our drinks with napkins and use our hands to fan the flies away throughout our meal. We asked a gentleman who we assumed was one of the managers if there was anything they could do about the flies. We also asked if he could put a candle on the table to drive them away, but he never came back to us.3. In the end, when we requested the bill, the manager came to our table and told us that he had waived the charges for the fish and burger. Regarding the flies, he told us there was nothing he could do about it. For us, it was never about waiving the charges. All we wanted was a nice meal for which we were willing to pay.
We decided to have a date night and a friend suggested Red Rooster. Was hesistant because I had heard Overtown was not a safe place. I was surprised. The area is beautiful and very clean. The restaurant was very inviting, I loved the feel of the atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and made us feel very welcomed.Kola was our server and she was a 10. Never missed a beat. She was enthusiastic and well versed on the menu.I highly recommend Red Rooster. We the dinner for 2. We had leftover for lunch today
Amazing food and even better dinning experience... from. The moment we stepped into the red rooster we taken on a journey... it felt lime we stepped into a high class juke joint...From the beautiful decorated walls and bathrooms to the lighting fixture to the lighting fixtures everything was thought of in this restaurant well start off in this restaurant.
Wow! Just wow! This place was beyond awesome. The atmosphere and vibe along with the dope music were everything.I had the fried chicken plate and my bf had the the shrimp and grits. Oh and the cornbread was divine. Not to mention the Miss Baker cocktail was yummy. Our sever Mathieu was most certainly a pleasure. When I’m back in Miami I’m definitely coming back. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
We’re very happy that Red Rooster has expanded to Miami. Richard our server made the whole experience just right his wine service was spot on. Other than the captain’s list the wines on the small list are very well chosen and well priced for the area. The food was absolutely delicious we are definitely going back!! Tip bring a small white thin/sheer hanky to cover the very annoying Up-lighting from the lamp in the center of the table, they only been open a few months so I’m sure they will figure it out.
I don’t know what Patrick is talking about because this place deserves 5 STARS. The food + drinks was phenomenal when I went last night with my family. For our appetizers we ordered Deviled Eggs which were delicious & the corn bread - which I will admit was pretty dry. I don’t remember which cocktails we ordered but they were ALL so good and mixed very well. Then, for our entrees we ordered the Oxtail, Grilled Snapper, & the Fried Chicken with sides of Mac & Cheese, Collared Greens & the Jerk Sweet Potato.Chile, listen. When I tell you the flavors of the food was hugging my taste buds?? I love it here, can’t wait to go back!Shout out to Isaiah for recommending nearly everything. He has got great taste.
...exceeded our expectations! I had the best ribs stop a bed of cabbage. My husbands yard bird was unlike any fried chicken Ive ever had...truly deserving of its unique name. I enjoyed the red cab which was new to me...I think ely was the name. They kept an established tree and built around it for the outdoor dining area.
3.40⭐️ Even though it was Friday night and the restaurant was packed, and we did not have a reservation, the hosts were super kind and friendly to find us a big table for six people. I almost went to the NYC location and heard great things about it, so I had big expectations. Being a comfort food restaurant, I was expecting that the cornbread will be mind-blowing, but it was super-average, so it started disappointingly. The fried chicken was the best thing there. It was amazing, really good! I wouldn’t serve the pigeon peas with it, and they were too hard. Mac & Cheese was also average, and the jerk sweet potato was great! The cocktail was a bit off — too sour, bitter, and boozy. Lastly, for my taste, the music was too loud, you could barely have a conversation. The ambiance and the atmosphere are beautiful. They did a good job. And all the staff is such kind, fast, and friendly people.
What an incredible happy hour! Ceviche, deviled eggs, corn bread, and new Zealand sauce Blanc at a discount! The devil eggs comes with a spice blend dusted across the dish, garnished with caviar and a pork rind. The combination of flavors were great, the rind for texture was awesome and the presentation had me at hello. The ceviche was also great! A large portion for happy hour, the only thing is that the hot and spicy trail mix garnish was a bit on the hard side.Cornbread was a healthy portion with a beautiful played dollop of butter. Warm and most throughout!Excited to come back for dinner soon 😋5 star experience at happy hour prices! Cant beat it
Beautiful, intelligently designed space, vibrant energetic ambiance (alternately, outdoor seating is available.) Apps came out quickly (cornbread not to be missed!), entrees took FOREVERRRRRRRR to come out. The table next to us sat 10 mins after we sat, got their food, finished it and we still havent gotten our entrees. Waiter came once and said the food was coming... 10mins later still no food and waiter is no where to be found. Finally the food came but only one dish, the 2nd entree took another 5mins or so. The bread from the avocado toast was burnt and the 2nd entree was too spicy. Something like this at a restaurant of this caliber shouldnt happened. But unfortunately it did. Probably wouldnt recommend to friends or return anytime soon or at all. NONE of the staff were wear mask including ones in the kitchen. Street metered parking or parking at RRO lot.
Good and fast service! delicious food! the drinks were creative and flavorful, i wasnt searching for the alcohol. the cornbread MUST be eaten with the butter... trust me youll regret skipping the butter! i had the fried oysters biscuits and gravy... if licking the plate was socially acceptable, i might have done so. the ambiance and music were on point! i will definitely return! An area for improvement is amongst the hostess staff. we called ahead and was told no reservation is needed. we arrived around 1230p and were told they are fully booked for brunch; the restaurant was a ghost town but were we told we could sit at a high top and order from the bar. people arrived after 1p and either waited to be seated (i assume they had a rez because they would give their name), were told it was over an hour to wait for a table, or to come back for dinner at 5p. the hostess staff kept asking us if we have a reservation as if they werent communicating. im still not sure if a reservation is needed.
We had a reservation for 2:45 pm. When we arrive we were told to hurry up and place our order because the kitchen will be closing soon at the end of brunch. The other option was to come back after 4pm but we would have to reserve another table. This upsetting because this was never mentioned beforehand then someone told to not worry and take out time. This was a poor first impression, another con is that parking isnt free on the side parking of the building. We were there to celebrate my sisters birthday because we heard so much about the place and the owner. We ordered our waitress was incredibly nice and she was from historical Overtown (also where my father is from) she offered us a restaurant tour as well. The food was okay a bit pricey for such small portions. The cornbread was so delicious that we ordered 2. The deviled eggs were good but the caviar seemed unnecessary because you could not taste it. My family was not too impressed but I may return to try the creamery.
Red Rooster is located in Overtown, Miami. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere. I had a reservation and even with the reservation, they had a wait which would be the only negative I would have to say. They have a beautiful outdoor patio area where you can dine. I ordered chicken and waffles, a green omelet, and Marcus cornbread.IG: FoodieFortLauderdaleTIKTOK: FoodieFortLauderdaleYOUTUBE: FoodieFortLauderdale
Flavor is the word of the day eating hereThere was a group of seven of us eating here over Labor Day weekend and I was soo happy we went here. It was suggested by some friends of a friend and it didnt disappoint. This restaurant is owned by celebrity chef/restauranteer Marcus Samuelsson and he was at the restaurant that day and he stopped to take a quick selfie with me. He was very gracious and you can tell he was attentive to what was going on in his restaurant. Very cool encounter.Back to the food. We tried a lot of different things since we were visting from out of town. From the small plates we got the Marcus Cornbread and the Chicken-Fried Green Tomatoes. The cornbread was delicious and came with this sweet and spicy jalapeno butter that made it taste heavenly. The Chicken-Fried green tomatoes was prepared different than any fried green tomatoes Ive ever had, but it was also very good. It has this green chutney (i think) on the plate that when sopped up with the tomatoes was as tasty as it comes. From the To Share menu we got multiple Fire Roasted Wagyu Oxtail and the Smoked Rooster Royale. I really want to try the Oxtails. it was I get whenever I go to a new soul food spot. The Wagyu Oxtail is next level. Ive never had oxtail prepared like this or seen them this large. That brazing liquid they cook the oxtail in is next level I tell you. They need to bottle up that Oxtail Au Ju and sell it, its soo good. Without a doubt to me, the oxtail was the most flavorful food we ate at the Red Rooster. Its a must eat if you go but definitely dont order it buy yourself. It can easily feed like 4 people. The smoked Rooster Royale is an experience in itself. The presentation is something you need to see to believe with a flambé presentation at the table. The chicken skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy and flavorful. Its a must eat. I tried to attach a video of that Red Rooster presentation table-side, so hopefully that shows the experience. Again, this is a must eat. it was probably the 2nd most flavorful dish I ate.For sides we got the Mac & Cheese, Succotash, and the Blackened broccoli. the Mac & Cheese was really good. it had a little kick to it as well. The Succotash and broccoli were decent but nothing to write home about. I can whole hardily recommend the Mac & Cheese though. One of our guests tried the Red Red Shrimp & Grits but she wasnt that happy with the dish because she didnt like the type of grits used in the dish (Anson Mills Rice Grits). Were all from the south and I think she was expecting more traditional grits but just kicked up a notch for fine dining. She said the shrimp were good though.Overall we were all pleased with virtually everything we ate. The staff and server we had was outstanding. He even took a photo of the table for us. I would definitely go back again if Im in the area. It is expensive but I think its worth the experience at least once if you want to treat yourself or if its for a special occasion. Stop reading and just make the reservation and enjoy.
I mean WOW! Amazing 🧡....I couldnt find something negative to say if I wanted to. The ambience, the customer service, the Food. Everything was SPECTACULAR. I cant wait to visit again.
The ambiance was gorgeous. Im loving the welcoming vibe. Excellent customer service! The food and drinks were amazing. Great price points! Must try the cornbread and biscuits, its not free but definitely worth the price. It comes with a jalapeno butter thats delicious. A lot of healthy options. This place is AMAZING! I WILL BE BACK. PLEASE make reservations to avoid the long wait times.
The cornbread is to die for!!!! Other than the octopus, we enjoyed everything thing else. The deviled eggs was delicious and well balance with the touch of caviar.
Ive been a fan of Red Rooster since going to the Harlem location in New York. I love the history of the town with the vintage archive photos. So Ive been anticipating going to the Red Rooster in Overtown. I went back in December and fell completely in love with the entire experience. I came back for the gospel brunch. I was in food heaven. The weather was great. The band was amazing. And the food was exactly what I imagined and more. I strongly recommend the homemade lemonade! I ordered deviled eggs the cornbread, The chicken and waffle (it had a kick!) And the french toast. Parking is valet or theres easy street parking right in front of you if you go early. Theres so much more happening at Rooster that I cant wait to become a regular. Bonus: Theres a cute ice cream shop called the Creamery adjacent to it thats incredible!
Our server Lenny was awesome! Food and drinks were great.
On our trip to Miami Red Rooster was the one place that had it all. Great food, friendly service, AND Vibe for days! Loved it all! I had the shrimp and grits which was amazing and a little different from what Ive had before. My friend got the chicken and wow is all I can say for that. So insanely good. Then the cookie skillet was the perfect dessert to finish it off. So glad we came here and cannot wait to come back! 6 out of 5 stars!
The cocktails are refreshing. The chicken and waffles would make the Colonel jealous.
Really cool spot! The food was delicious and all the staff is very friendly. There is one of kind art all throughout the venue and the space itself quite historic! Can’t wait to go back for evening jazz :)
The food was great! Its a pricey restaurant so be prepared to spend top dollar to treat your palate and taste buds. But its worth it! The ambiance is very nice but I wouldn’t expect nothing less from Miami. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 stars for the food! The oxtails were great. And its really actually the tail of the ox.The points and stars start to decline with the flies joining us for dinner. It makes the whole experience not worth it. Imagine trying to eat, talk and enjoy a meal while fanning away flies every second. It maybe because they leave the patio door open. The service was mediocre for an over 600.00 tab. They are not equiped to accomandate a large party. 2 glasses of pepsi 10.80. Paid with no problem at all. But if we are spending that much money i think they should do something about the flies.
Creative menu, great ambiance, they’re apparently opening a live-music lounge later in 2021.The oxtail is the signature and serves two people, the fried yardbird was very good. Highly recommend the cornbread appetizer with the jalapeño butter.
Excellent, but best fried chicken in Miami... Not quite
It was nice the food is good the names will freak u out but its a different experience but amazing..
The food, drinks, ambiance and service was all amazing!! One of my new favorite restaurants in Miami. Definitely come with an appetite! We came with a medium size group so we could try lots of things and honestly I do not have a dish I did not love. The smoked chicken was moist and had an incredible flavor, the fried chicken was delicious, and the octopus was a favorite among the group. Also the restaurant itself is beautifully done - a big backyard covered patio and indoors it has great music, big bar and an overall unique and authentic vibe. Highly recommend!
Very cool to have a restaurant of this caliber in Overtown, and it delivered with the high quality food we had. If I had any complaints it would be about the unfortunate amount of very pesky flies while dining in the patio area but thats more nature than a slight to the restaurant. They even got my wife a surprise bowl of birthday gelato that put a big smile on her face!
Awesome Miami dinner experience that provides a dinner twist while paying homage to the local culture.
THIS PLACE WAS BUSSSIN LIKE A SCHOOL BUS ON A WEEKDAY🚌But seriously, Loved absolutely everything about this establishment, the Art Deco decor was like stepping into a vintage Caribbean Jazz movie which was aesthetically pleasing down to the white/red checkered walls that showcased a beautiful seafood display!! The boldness of the black art that cover the walls which accompanies you while you eat ‘Marcus’s cornbread’ or the ‘fried yard bird’ was the perfect balance to indulge in the culture of it all. Thank you for bringing your art to Miami. And most importantly thank you for providing us with a delicious assortment of food. DEFINITELY comin back with the WHOLEEE family❤️❤️
Ok people, here is the verdict on Red Rooster Overtowns Brunch. The food is good, the atmosphere is awesome, but the food took a rather long time to arrive at the table. That is the only negative I have for this location, but it has to be noted. The service from my waiter was nothing less than extraordinary. If they can work on the food timing just a bit this is a five star location hands down. I recommend this location for brunch and I will be returning.
Everything was top notch: venue, decor, vibe, service, food. Just a great experience all around. We had conch fritters, deviled eggs, bbq ribs, mac n cheese, shrimp n grits, and margaritas. Conch was heavy on the red peppers, would pass next time but recommend all other dishes.
Missed the mark for me. Overall the people are friendly and the decor is nice. I love the atmosphere, but the food missed the mark. Our waiter told us what not to order which is never a good sign. We were told NOT to order the cornbread as it is “nothing special except jalapeño butter.” Our waiter suggested the whole fish and said it would be filleted. I believe him based off the photos I saw on here, but our fish was not filleted. So that left a long evening of picking bones. The dish came with crab rice. Both items were beyond salty. We also ordered a bottle a wine which took over thirty minutes to arrive. Sadly, friendly people and a dj weren’t enough for me to enjoy this place. My sodium levels are beyond high from this experience. I won’t be back and suggest you don’t even take a chance. Life is hard enough, you don’t need a bunch of salty food to make you bloated. Thanks, but no thanks Red Rooster.
I loved the vibe and energy of this bar ! The staff was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely go back the drinks are good as well. Would recommend.
For dinner, we ordered the Yard Bird with three sides- Mac and cheese, sweet potato, and greens. All were delicious and it was plenty of food for two! For dessert, we ordered the Tropical Roots which was a take on carrot cake- the pineapple, passionfruit, and coconut flavors together were delicious and tangy.Didnt take photos, but we ordered the Dame and Marqueta cocktails. Both cocktails were light, flavorful, and unique they went very well with our meal. Highly recommend!
In my opinion people come here for the VIBE. In that regard, they got it. It is very much a dope place with amazing folks, great music and a very thoughtful layout inside. The decor and all the plants make it special and very instagramable.Service could be better. They weren’t bad but just were kind of lacking a bit.The food was good but not great. The table had a bunch of different dishes and I had the fried chicken and waffle. The waffle was soggy and did not have the consistency I look for. The pickled cabbage was not needed IMO. But the chicken, the chicken was really good. It was crispy yet juicy, full of flavor and portion was good.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance. I love it is in a historical area. The food was good and our server was very attentive. It is very spacious. Marcus and Marvin made sure everything was going well with our dining experience. Educated us on the art that was displayed in the restaurant. Will definitely come back and I have already referred others to try it out.The cornbread ❤️
This food had so much southern charm, but was also really cool! Not only was the sit staff awesome, but the place was a scene with great clientele.Oh, do I even need to say anything about the food, check out the pics, so tasty!!!!
Yesterday I concluded my birthday celebration at Red Rooster. The location has significant sentimental value for me because I am from Historical Overtown. Mavin warmly greeted us at the door and promptly seated us. His hospitality alone sold me almost immediately and he went above and beyond to ensure I had a great birthday. The venue was otherworldly, drinks were exemplary and the service was incredible. Thank you Marvin, Marcelo and Stevens for helping to create the best birthday Ive ever had... in my home! I look forward to sharing more memories at Red Rooster!
Let’s just get right into it: they were busy but this place was amazing. The service was excellent start to finish. Cozied up to the bar for the last 30 minutes of happy hour. We loved the deviled eggs and the yard bird. For dinner we split the oxtail and the whole fish which also came with a side of rice and Mac/cheese. There was way too much food for 6. Highly recommend.
Joann was very knowledgeable of the menu. Chef was kind enough to visit our table. The ox tail was fall of the bone smokin!Soul food indeed.Beautiful art and delicious creamery...so many good things that I can not concrete in a small review.Overall a great experience, Thank you!
Service: staff was super friendly, very attentive about everything and they do go out their way to make sure you are comfortable. Amazing staff!!! Shout out to DJ the bartenderAmbience: it’s very loud, difficult to have a conversation, or communicate with the host or bartender. The decor is amazing, and the bar has very comfortable seating.Parking: the restaurant offers self parking with a parking attendant who happens to be a manager with the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Flat out refused to give me a parking ticket when I asked for proof of payment, to a point where he threatened to tow my car just because I was asking for a parking ticket. The parking service definitely needs work. The food: here is where my 1 star come from, I see other people reviews give the food high marks, but the food is unnaturally sour, my wife order the ribs which were so unnecessarily sour, I order the dark chicken which was highly under cook. It really tasted like honey chicken from a Chinese restaurant but just under cooked. For an appetizer we order the CCC fritters, which one was super over seasoned, and the other two had no seasoning. Eating the food was quite difficult, something I noticed is that nobody was able to finish the food. These reviews that I see people loving the food has me questioning if the other reviews about this place is true. The alcoholic drink are terrible. I believe the theme of this restaurant is citrus, everything has some sort of overwhelming amount of citrus in the drinks. Overall the food is terrible and the drinks are terrible. I posted picture of the items I would recommend you stay away from.Overall: I believe this place can be something great but the menu needs to be re-evaluated. I alway give a place two visit. The first visit the food was horrible. I hope the second visit, the food does improves.
In the heart of the historic Overtown area of Miami, this restaurant was the birth of famed top chef Marcus Samuelsson🏆 Once you arrive you will feel like you’re transported to downtown Washington D.C. at least that’s how I felt. Down to earth people with an artsy vibe. Live music on select nights. Make a rsvp because it gets busy here. Friendly staff, great food and the atmosphere is picturesque perfect 🤩
Went to Miami for my birthday and had the chance to have dinner here for my birthday and it was amazing! The music, the atmosphere, the one of a kind cuisine, and the over esthetic were impeccable. It was everything and more. My server/waiter Isiah(Ike) was very knowledgeable the menu and even the drinks he was able to help me pair the perfect drinks with the perfect meal as if he created the menu himself. Very prompt and informative. Be sure to ask to be seated with Ike!
Food was good but just wish there was a larger menu selection. I could only choose the chicken. But the items that my party had they totally enjoy it!
WHERE DO I BEGIN? THE AMBIENCE IS IG PHOTO READY WITH BEAUTIFUL DECOR AND A NICE PLAYLIST. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO VISIT THE ROOFTOP OR EXPERIENCED THE LIVE MUSIC. THE ENTIRE STAFF IS PLEASANT FROM THE DOOR GREETER TO THE WAITRESS. OUR MEAL WAS FOODIE GOLD. WE ORDERED DEVILED EGGS, THE YASSA STEAK, GREENS AND GRAINS SALAD AND THE SMOKED ROOSTER OFF THE SHAREABLE MENU. DEGLAZING THE BIRD AT THE TABLE IS A NICE TOUCH. WHAT DID IT FOR ME WAS WHEN I WAS ORDERING AND TOLD THE WAITRESS ABOUT MY KETO LIFESTYLE THE CHEF WAS WILLING TO ADJUST OUR MEAL TO ACCOMMODATE ME. WE HAD A SUPERIOR EXPERIENCE AND NOW THAT IM BACK IN MY HOMETOWN OF CHICAGO IM STILL DREAM ABOUT THAT YASSA STEAK.
Great spot, great vibes - cocktails are tasty, food leaves a little to be desired, and parking is highly overpriced. Wouldn’t rush back but happy to have experienced it once.
Highly Recommend We Had Wonderful Time FridayThank You For Allowing Us To Have Fun
Add this to your list, Red Rooster is phenomenal and wont disappoint. Sunday brunch had a great crowd and live music. We had the Beach Bird Seafood Tower. The fried chicken I cant stop craving, it was outstanding, as well as the oysters, deviled eggs and very generous shrimp. I highly recommend the Red Rooster. If you are in the area or not, we drove from Sarasota, do give it a try.
One of the best dining experiences Ive had. Outstanding service. Amazing vibe. Great food. Will definitely be back soon.
I really hate that I have to say what Im about to say but, I have been waiting to get to this restaurant since the beginning of COVID-19 and I finally was able to feel comfortable going out after being fully vaccinated I made a reservation for my sisters birthday with friends. Our reservation was for 6 at 1 pm for brunch. We got there actually about 10 minutes early and was told our table was not ready yet, so at 1 we inquired and they said it would be about another 10 minutes, so we hung out at the bar. I received a text at 1:20 pm that our table was ready we went, but the table was not ready. Finally around 1:45 we were able to be seated. We ordered the Rum punch and several other drinks that I cant remember the names, but they were on point a good amount of alcohol .We ordered several plates of deviled eggs and they were very good, if you dont like a little spice then they may not be for you, but very tasty. I dont remember the other appetizer we ordered, but basically it was a chicken dog and it was delicious .Ok now for the chicken and waffles - I just couldnt get past a huge leg quarter on top of a waffle, but ok. It was just ok, I couldnt really wrap my head around the jerk flavor and syrup, plus the chicken was sorta chewey we kinda nibbled around it. I can say we will not order that again. Finally, several of us ordered the Anthonys Breakfast Beans* wagyu oxtail, fejoida style red beans, sausage, tomato, salsa verde, easy eggs and I can say that the juice in it had a good taste, but the beans were under cooked and crunchy so we had to send them back. The manager came over and we shared what happened and she was very polite and professional and asked if we wanted something in exchange, but we declined. The waitress could have been better the fact that we had to flag her down when we needed napkins or asking where our drinks were so meh...The three stars are for the managers sweet spirit and the drinks. Will we return, I can say that we will not return for brunch and we may return for the happy hour/dinner in the future.I wish I could give them 5 stars, but I have to keep it .
The staff were welcoming and pleasant. The establishment was clean, the atmosphere was great. The food was delicious. The different mixtures of the spices used in the food was exotic. I will definitely dine there again.
My son and I first visit. We loved it from the time we entered to restaurant. The atmosphere, food and service was AMAZING, AWESOME!! Iur server Claudio was great in explaining the entire menu, which was helping in helping us make our meal choices. .Look forward to returning. ❤❤
The BEST chicken Ive ever had. The food was just good. Theres nothing else to say. The service was great. The VIBE was everything. Just kiss the cook.
EVERYTHING we ordered was AMAZING! I will definitely go back.
Super expensive for what they think it is, being a NYC transplant they are more expense and half as good as the one in Harlem. Went with friends last night, $20 for a salad, a tiny one at that, $5p for a tiny steak, and don’t get me started on their shashimi sized grouper dish. A truly lackluster meal with tiny portions and sloppy service. We rounded out the night upstairs at the “pool hall” a vintage style room with 1 non regulation size table I guess that equals a pool hall, plus they have a random barber chair in the corner. I guess you can get your hair cut while waiting for the watered down drinks? Plus $10 per hour for parking is a rip off, I guess being accosted by a homeless person peddling for cash is part of the vibe? Not even on south beach do they charge that much street parking in front of Joes is $4 per hour.Never going back, nice attempt but zero for execution
Went on Sunday for brunch. Live bad is awesome. Marcus Cornbread was good. I did not taste a piece of oxtail in my entree. The drink was ok. Service was slow. The patio is nice and cool with shade and fans.
What can I say?? Excellent restaurant. Staff was courteous and recommended Excellent dishes. The food was seasoned well, chicken and brisket tender and tasty and most of all...the presentation was beautiful.
A place where customer service comes naturally. Isiah, our waiter offered to obtain the parking # for us due to my oversight as well as escorted me to the restroom. Selfies on deck with the decor in there!Once back at my seat, he artfully gave us the insight on the appetizers, dishes, as well as drinks. Uptown & Yes Chef were on point and those CC Fritters were delicious. We had the Smoked Rooster Royale and finished with the Choco Chip Blondie. Eveything was top notch, 10 Stars for me!
HOLY SMOKES! This place is fantastic. Our server Richard (Rich) made our first time here such a memorable time! We will be returning and hes one of the reasons why! Came here for my birthday with the family, was a great time.. We ordered the Cornbread to start and then the CCC fritters, and deviled eggs. Main entree were the fried-yard bird, and Smoked Rooster, with Mac and cheese, and collard greens. For desert we got the tropical roots, and #SundaeAF. My favorites from our order was the Marcus Cornbread, fried-yard bird, mac and cheese, and CCC fritters. Chef Marcus and his staff should be proud to have made such a reputation for themselves in such a short period, with times like now. Highly reccomend, and again thank you Rich, for being such an awesome server with your great service and that nice tour at the end, we will be back!
The food isn’t as good as it looks, everything was poorly made, waste of money, wouldn’t visit ever again even if it was free.
The waiter Wesley provided amazing service. I will definitely come again. Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Went to RR for Gospel Sunday Brunch and the spirit was alive in that place. The food was manna and the sounds were angelic messages from above. My whole week went just fantastically well.Fast forward, went on a Friday to the opening of the Pool Hall upstairs (yes, I know how it sounds)... remember Uncle Juniors basement parties that only adults were allowed to go to? All the kids were dared to come down those basement stairs? Yup, thats The Pool Hall at Red Rooster. Now youll finally experience how cool those basement parties were.PS- skip the elevator and take the stairs - its IGable like you wouldnt believe 😍
This place sparkles in OVERTOWN, the food is marvelous. Nice crowd/diverse . It is a place to drink and be very merry especially during this CORVID 😷 time. Live music and ambience is nice nice baby....
This is a must experience. It is not just food, this is art, the art of creating amazing dishes that lets you experience the flavors blending. The music is great and atmosphere so relaxing. Service was impeccable
My very first time coming to the Red Rooster Overtown first things first I want to thank them it was my birthday and I love the atmosphere it was a very cool Vibe the food was excellent The Wailers was very knowledgeable about the food the shelves came and explained what the dishes was about and what expired the dish all around it was amazing I will love to go back there again and I recommend everybody else to do the same
The food and the place is absolutely amazing.. seriously recommend the fried chicken.. I think it is the best one Ive had in my life.. great place to share plates, the only reason Im giving this place a stars its because the tables are too small when you are seated with 4 pax.. if you are 4 pax or more I recommend you ask for a large table.
Had such a good time. The food and atmosphere were amazing! Couldnt have had a better time!
Ambience 1-10 = 9Service 1-10 = 10Food 1-10 = 6I need Tabasco with my oysters IJS!
The food was great! I had the oxtail and Mac and cheese....OMG....I savored every bite! The oxtail can be shared comfortably between 3 people, and a little less comfortably between 4 people. The Mac and cheese can be shared between 2 people. However, if you love Mac and cheese, you could eat the entire serving by yourself! The ambiance was also very warm and delightful! The only downside is the pricing. You will have to spend some serious cash to dine here, especially for dinner!
Last night was my first experience at the restaurant it was a mixture of excitement and dissatisfaction. The excitement was that I got to experience Chef Marcus Samuellsson restaurant because I have followed his career and his accomplishments from being a judge on Chopped to segments featuring his signature restaurant in Harlem. My dining experience was interrupted by an employee who comes to my table and says that my table was reserved for her VIPS which happen to be people who proceeded to do each others hair and some of the staff began to act unprofessional because of their presence. The location and the design is wonderful but the decor which includes the furniture cushions needed to be cleaned and changed due to the stains in them from constant use. Food was enjoyable and the atmosphere was pleasant but my family and I have decided that will not be going back.
I really wanted to like this place, but besides the amazing service, the food was nothing memorable. Not only are the dishes are in the $25 and up range, nothing really stood out. Their Fried Yard Bird was fried until too dry. Full of flavor, bad execution in cooking. Their Shrimp and Grits were way too sweet for my liking. Grits were really wet and without that consistency you would expect from a good southern-cooked grit. The drinks are very expensive and served on pretty narrow high-ball glasses filled with ice. Parking is $15 unless you venture to leave your car in the limited street parking in a not so trusty neighborhood.I loved the intention and in my two visits, there were plenty of patrons, likely, first timers while they get a taste of the food and prices. I dont think that at this rate a loyal clientele will be created.
Wow! Run, dont walk - you must check this place out. I went for an early dinner and had a reservation shortly after opening. By the time I left, the restaurant was popping with the most eclectic crowd! This is a super fun place to people watch. 🧐 Pictures can never do this restaurant justice. You walk straight into an explosion of perfectly curated art, music memorabilia, architecture and decor that completely transports you to a happy place where you feel sexy, hip, cool and instantly hungry. Well maybe the hungry part is because the aromas coming from the kitchen are absolutely divine! If youre an avid Top Chef watcher like myself youre already familiar with Chef Marcus Samuelsson. His team includes GM Reggie Larose, Chef de Cuisine Tristen Epps and Director of Culture and Arts Donnamarie Baptiste and their highly trained and amazing staff. Service is just right. I had Marcus cornbread, the deviled eggs (please try!), an off the menu Heirloom salad, the Fried Yard bird and their tropical roots dessert, which is carrot cake with passion fruit, coconut, pineapple!! Trust me, my mouth is watering reminiscing about that meal. Can you tell Im in love?
We went for dinner on a weekday night, and everything was fantastic. The restaurant has a fun vibe without being overwhelmingly loud. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided great service to our large party. I got the cornbread with jalapeño honey butter, Sour Orange Pig Ribs, and blackened broccoli. The food has great presentation as well as flavor. The portions were huge, which is why we didn’t get dessert. I would definitely return the next time I’m in Miami.
The food is above average, the service is third class had a Hostess with very poor personality and attitude, refuse to seat use, when we asked for a better seat, so we ( my attorney and I) could talk business. And on top of that we had to wait and ask for a server to order food. But on the end, the food and nice waitress made our first and last time there better.Dr Johns
Absolutely delicious! The restaurant is beautiful on the inside and the fried chicken is the best Ive tried! The blue crab pasta was also great, the mc & cheese is delightful as a side and the sweet potato is also really good!Service is quick and attentive.Overall an excellent experience! Highly recommend.
The food and ambiance was real good. The cornbread is really GOOD with the Jalapeños butter. Will come definitely.
The food here is absolutely delicious! We had the oysters, scallops, deviled eggs, cornbread, fried yard bird, and smoked rooster royale. We took our time and had a great time. Wesley was our server too & he recommended most of the dishes. Definitely worth coming here 💯
Start o finish a fantastic experience. Incredibly ambitious menu and beverage program executed perfectly. Smoked chicken is a must. Burnt cauliflower was a surprising hit.
I cannot say enough great things about this place! From the hostess and host to the service to the amazing flavors of our dining experience all was bar none! We ordered the cornbread, a must, and it comes with this unique soft butter which wasnt butter at all - simply delicious. The amberjack tiradito had so much texture and flavors in one small plate - must try! The oysters were an equal blend of east and west coast with their very own mignonette and what appeared to be a cocktail sauce but wasnt. Yet simply delicious. No horseradish though, but that didnt stop it from tasting great. They had run out of the wagyu oxtail, so we ordered their bird royale. Its a whole chicken that they bring to your table and set it ablaze, then take it back and cut it up for you...I dont think Ive ever tasted a better tasting chicken. Of course we ended up taking some home since it was only 2 of us. It comes with a delicious Mac and cheese and broccoli. Im not a fan of broccoli, but this wasnt your everyday broccoli. Mami, me comí mis vegetales. Everything was beyond delicious. The key lime dessert was just perfect. I forgot to mention the vibe and decor were beyond amazing! I even looked up if it was an original building that got renovated and found that it used to be a pool hall. We kept wondering if the floors were original, because if they are they sure did a fabulous job of restoring the whole place while still maintaining its original character. We cant wait to return.
