This company was actually Floridas first shipyard (founded in Jacksonville in 1885 and operating in Miami on the Miami River since 1923) and this particular shipyard recently had a remodeling/upgrade with a cost of $30 million. This particular shipyard is comprised of two yards: the north yard, which borders the health district; and the south yard, which borders Marlins Park in Little Havana. You can see some very impressive yachts, commercial & private, and the extensive work that is done. This shipyard has a 2,700 ton shoplift that can pull a 235-foot mega-yacht out of the water for service and repairs! A very unique and historical gem in the heart of Miami. JE
After quoting with several companies for a medium overhaul in Miami, FL, I decided to trust our Meridian 411 yacht with RMK Merrill-Stevens. I first met with Mr. Jack Haney at our boat and was impressed with the level of detail and accuracy they were able to provide at the estimating process. I have had the boat for three (3) years and wanted to limit unforeseen expenses as much as possible as our previous experience with other vendors had proven a huge gap between what was initially quoted and the final invoice. Jack invested a significant amount of time prior to our acceptance of the estimate to make sure we had everything covered and all questions we had were addressed.During the execution phase, every care was taken by Mr. Jack to make sure the work completed by his team met the high quality standards set by the company. We did make some further change orders throughout the process and they were handled while making sure we were aware of the impact (monetary Vs. performance). Upon completion of the overhaul, Jack took the time to go with me on a sea trial and we were amazed at the results. Prior to the alterations, our boat had a top speed of 21 Knots. Upon testing the boat I realized something was very different and noticed had now a new top speed of 30 knots and a sweet ride. I can now basically cruise at 21 Knots (prior top speed) and it feels great.I usually do not take the time to review companies, however, the boating industry can be very tricky and choosing the right vendors is key, I decided to share my experience with the public to recognize Mr. Jack & his teams efforts as they really exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend the services of RMK Merrill Stevens.
Jack Haney and the team at RMK Merrill Stevens are top notch. Highly skilled, extremely professional and refreshingly honest . Excellent customer service and communication. Beautiful results. Brought our 43 Azimut in for some engine work and other repairs and we could not be happier with our experience here from start to finish Took the boat out over the weekend and it is running better than it has in years. It is very unusual to find this level of skill and outstanding service in this business. Wonderful team. Will continue on with all our service and maintenance here going forward. Grateful to have found them. I highly recommend!
I have been returning to this shipyard to haul out my boat for the second year in a row and will continue to do so. Their customer service cant be beat. Rick Hambley has been my point of contact and has sold me to this shipyard, He goes above and beyond to ensure you receive what you expect : craftsmanship, clear and frequent updates and the list goes on. And of course there is an entire team that makes the whole process happen. The prices are fair and the quality of workmanship is top notch. I posses a Master Mariners License and graduated with an Unlimited Marine Engineering license having spent a lot of my professional sea going life in dry-docks and shipyards worldwide. Now that Im cruising around as a recreational boater I am glad to have found the professionalism and high quality of service my vessel deserves. Their warranty service post-haul-out is similarly impressive. I highly recommend this shipyard. If you are looking for high quality service you can trust and rely on, and care about your investment, look no further- RMK Merrill-Stevens cant be beat.
The best and nicest shipyard to work with in all of Miami.
My 2004 Grand banks suffered major hull and stabilizer damage from Hurricane Irma. Over a period of approximately 3 months at RMK Merrill-Stevens, the work was done splendidly. The personnel at the yard could not have been more supportive and the quality of the work was consistent with the cost.PS: I was not paid to write this!
A great marina! Service is second to none. Clean and friendly Broke damping coupler on my 32 tug. No one in the keys knew anything about it... Was towed all the way back to Miami to Rmk. They treated me like i was a regular customer that spends boque bucks and had a 50+ foot vessel. From Claudia in service, Rick the yard manager to dave the dock master and Rob in purchasing these folks are great and care about you. Got me back on the water in a couple of days while keeping the cost as manageable as possible. Great people! Outstanding service! Highly recommend for emergency or basic maintenance!
We recently had our 35-ft. Shannon Shoalsailer hauled for painting and some minor maintenance, and were very pleased with the service and performance at RMK Merrill-Stevens. The boat was hauled immediately on arrival, and splashed on the day of promised completion, with all work done excellently. The yard director Mike Davenport is completely knowledgeable and very helpful. We also used RMK Merrill-Stevens for hurricane shelter earlier this year. The prices for the storm shelter and the haulout were more than fair, and we will go to this yard again.
