Not really all that organized 😕 like Waxahachie is when it comes to all of the athletic and work out etc all scattered but really friendly helpful staff though so that definitely makes up for it.

Order online & pick up in store is not organized. There was no set cashier to handle online pickups nor a specific line for it either. The entrance person will tell you with confidence where to go, but when you get there they act clueless as to why you’re there. I gave 3 stars because ONCE they’re actually assisting you they are really nice so this makes me think it’s a manageable issue that needs to be fixed by their supervisor or management in order to have a organized check out/ pick up system.

Was shopping for tennis shoes. Didnt find what I wanted but shopping was pleasant. Seems they dont carry Sketchers. A sportsman would be in paradise with the huge selection of sporting goods they carry. Plenty of free parking + handicap spaces.

Went in Saturday 8/14/21, around 10:45am and needed just a little help with trying to find the right shoes for my son. As he is flat footed. When I finally found him after asking a really sweet older lady if there was someone working in that area. He had the worst attitude, as he somehow felt I told on him. I grabbed my son and let the lady who helped me earlier know what happened, and spent my money elsewhere!

So disappointed for this location. I wanted to buy a bicycle for my kid and did not work so I ask if it could be fixed before I check out, gentle man who help me was very helpful, but I ask if there were more in stock in the back they check and they had some so I ask to buy one from the back and to get it built and I could pick up next day. I was told by the lead team member that I couldn’t do that. That I had to go online buy it and then pick up at the store which makes no difference and I ask to speak to a manager and same excuse. I think they didn’t go beyond for that good customer service, upper management get this straightened out and maybe I will return to this location .

Who doesn’t love academy!? They run really good sales if you catch them on a good day. Store is always clean, and staff is always friendly. If your child plays sports it’s always best to get their sports gear when it’s not in season, you’ll save on prices as well as preventing things from being sold out. this is the only store nearby for mesquite and surrounding cities. things typically go fast, especially durning football and baseball season. Buying shoes be sure to check the clearance section first. - Wheezy

Found some descent deals. Curbside pickup was quick and convenient. Didnt like having to show license to p/u purchase. Associate that brought items out was friendly and courteous.

Made the mistake of asking the surley dude working in the gun section if they had any AR type rifles and got a death star and We dont sell that sort of thing anymore. Answering a simple question with a loaded answer is not the way to retain customers. Also, there was literally an entire shelf of 5.56 ammo behind me. Go figure!

Walked into this store 30 minutes after opening and was shut at the condition. Came here for a specific pair of shoes advertised and once I made it back to the shoe department stepping on stuff and other obstacles. The shoe department looked as if Katrina moves through there and when I made it to the display of the shoe I wanted shelves are empty and places that had product was disorganized.Determined to get the shoes I wanted the next closest store was in Rockwall. I got to the Rockwall store and walked in to a organized and clean looking store and was able to find the shoes I wanted.

Stores need to work on keep their website and inventory up to date! I like Academy a lot

Academy likes to print misleading coupons which could probably be considered a deceptive trade practice. Twice I showed up to use a coupon only to be told the discount doesnt apply to what I wanted to purchase. No mention on the coupon that it only applies to certain products.Almost purchased a firearm, until the guy spoke to me disrespectful so I left. I vote with my dollars. Nice try Academy, three strikes and your out

The only reason this place gets two stars is because they had what I came for. However, customer service at this location is non existent. My brother came here on August 6th at around 6:30 only to be met with an employee who flat out tried to tell him his money was fake. That is super unprofessional! I decided to go today August 7th at 7:20 and I was not even greeted upon entry or at the registers. Extremely rude employees, as someone who works retail I know it is basic training 101 to at least acknowledge a customer! Extremely upset about the experience.

Great variety of sporting merchandise to choose from and friendly staff to assist with any questions or concerns!

Old work gloves. Grand daughters worn soccer cleats. Both got well used. A new pair of shoes brought a huge smile!

I drove almost two hours to buy $1400 gun safe which the web page said they had in stock. Once there the store was almost completely empty. No safe was available. Wasted my time. The web page should have stated store was relocating.

New store and facility is not as good as the older store in my view. Just seems like a big impersonal Walmart big box store.Too many items blown out at this time.

Just order things from a different academy. Have ordered multiple things and always get a call back saying it’s not in stock. When the website says it’s in stock. They proceed to send a cancellation email stating I request the cancellation when in fact I don’t. I’ve asked employees everytime they call will they update the website but they never do. One employee in fact told me to just order from Garland because they cancel often and people complain about it

This is a really great alternative to Bass Pro and Cabelas. We always find ourselves getting a few extra items for our outdoor activities here.

Great place to shop! The employees are very upbeat, helpful, overall great service with plenty of space to shop.

Store could have been neater but I understand with it being the weekend and being busy. The customer service at the register was very pleasant, I wont mention names bc I dont want to get anyone in trouble but I mentioned that they didnt look very happy and the cashier said naw were just busy, not very sociable or polite, looked as if they were aggravated and ready to go. Not the worst experience, not the best.

Stopped by to get my son some gloves and a soccer ball and ended up shopping for other items. Friendly associates as always in both the soccer aisle and shoe department. This store has a huge selection of soccer balls compared to the store on Forest Lane. My checkout was very fast as they had a good amount of cashiers at the register.8/8/18 - Update - this store is closing and moving the new location near Abrams and NWH across from the Target. The old location will become a clearance center. I was told by a manager.

Every time I go in there is less and less inventory. I’m really starting to think this location must be close to closing. Looks as bad as Sears or Fryes and that’s saying a lot. They are almost completely out of the guns and ammo game.I find it somewhat comical and ironic that they filled the shelves were there ammo used to go with targets & tannerite. All of which is useless if you dont have bullets!!!Lots of empty shelfs in fishing and hunting also.

Long lines for ammunition and several people who arrive just before 9am jump the line in front of those who arrive at least 45 minutes earlier. There is a police officer present who simply content to allow it to happen. Bad image!

A very low on ammunition they take off ammunition for some strange reason they dont put ammunition on the shelves for some strange reason.you would think that a store like this would carry more ammunition since its built like a warehouse but you will go home empty-handed. No 380 amo

The Academy Sports +Outdoors in Mesquite is always well stocked with the current trends. The store is always clean and uncluttered. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

The one way check out line is awesome not just during covid but always. Keep it up.

The store its either a hit or miss depending on the season. Sometimes they have cheaper prices other times its the same. To have brands like adidas, Nike, underarmor etc. They sure do lack some variety. Overall its not that terrible.

I love academy but they are about to move so the store is missing about of stock.

They never seem to have the inventory that the web site says is in stock. 3 times I have looked at the web site and found an item but when I go to the store its out of stock.

Went in to buy an electric smoker. There were none to be found. Asked the staff be and they went in the back to bring one in a box out on a dolly. Employee wheeled it to the register, then outside to our vehicle. Extremely nice and helpful staff. Great service.

The place is so clean. But no Amos on the shelf. The sports wear are so old fashions.

This store’s gun department has a very rude sales representatives. We waited in line for a good 20 mins without even being acknowledged tho we were the line as there were no other customers behind us in that time period but when another customer walks up he is immediately acknowledged and greeted politely. We felt very disrespected already but when we spoke up about it the service representative was immediately defensive and even laughed in our face about it. I will not be recommending this store location to anyone in fact I will be doing the opposite in hopes others won’t be treated that way.

Academy in Mesquite has a good selection. Always has the same pairs of work boots and casual shoes I get yearly, always has a good stock in ammunition for range and home defense, and fishing gear. If I had more time each visit Id be there for hours. My first golfing set came from here, my first high school football gear came from here, soccer gear, etc. 90% of the time the staff is easily accessible, when they do help you, they help you 100%. These guys know whats up. If this place ever closes down, Id be sorely disappointed.

I shopped here for some athletic clothing and customer service was pretty normal. My thing was I thought I left my card there so I called four times not once did they answer and the store was over 30 minutes away. It just rang until it hung up on me.

Just called 11 times in an attempt to verify stock of a firearm. Could not get anyone to answer the phone. Either it rang and rang or someone would hang up on me.

I bought a bike online for my daughter & it came with free assembly....well supposed to come with free assembly. That was a lie....when I went to pick it up they brought it out in a box. They told me the 3rd party tech wasn’t there & to call back another day to see if he was there. Well that got me nowhere. Half the time they don’t answer & the other half the guy isn’t there or only there a couple hours & I miss him. Now I’m sick of calling & give up with this place. Unfortunately for me I have to pay someone else to put it together when I shouldn’t have to. I don’t understand why they notified me that my order was ready when in fact it’s still in the box. So annoying & inconvenient.

No ammo again, but not there fault, no one has any(covid related). Everthing else we were after was there and fairly priced.

Good place for sporting goods and firearm sales.

While I do enjoy this place, I find that often enough that it is no longer carrying something or another that I bought there before. That I want to buy another of, for example I bought some Texas Rangers hat. Went a month later they no longer carry that design of hat. Its disappointing that this happens alot at this store.

The management at this location is unprofessional and unresponsive. On several occasions I have witnessed management play favorites within their staff. On one occasion, an employee pushed a cart at an employee that was a minor purely out of anger. She is still employed at this location but the employee that the cart was pushed at is not. On another occasion I overheard an employee saying she wanted to get into a physical altercation with another employee because she didnt like her, she also does not work there but the other employee is. The team leads/managers for the footwear and apparel section would always be on projects and unavailable but when an employee would go look for them when they wouldnt respond on the radio, they would be found on their phones, laughing and joking around and vaping on the stores premises (particularly their office or the she shed as they would call it). It is quite disturbing for a company so widely known to do so little when it comes to the literal assault of employees, let alone showing some sort of professionalism. The store manager is incompetent and only seriously handles problems in the event of theft. This store in every sense does NOT deserve anyones business and I will most definitely not be back again.

Good products but there was a cockroach on a jacket we were thinking about buying. Needs better pest control.
