Their parts are priced better than online and you dont pay a fortune for shipping on a special order. They are very helpful. I recently ordered a new flywheel form lawnmower at first I thought it was the wrong part but the correct part number. I went back down there and they showed what I had not done as far as reassembling goes. Really nice people.

I bought a Snapper zero turn 48 mower here 5 yrs ago. Its been great, put on new blades once. Now figure I needed to do an oil change. All the paperwork with the mower didnt describe the motor much. So, asked at the store today where I change the oil and filter. Very helpful guy showed me on a mower there. Plus picked up the new filter and oil

I have visited this business on several occasions. There are a lot of mature people working there and some young ones too. However, they have gone far and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant experience when you shop there. They are only second to Chick-fil-A in providing courteous service.

Great service from beginning to end. I called ahead, to ask about a push mower already assembled and they had it. Walked in was shown were to find them. The young man that was there showed me all important functions on the mower and which oil I needed. After I paid, he also loaded it in my car. Will definitely be back. I needed a new chain for my chainsaw. Came in requesting sharpening the blades. They offered same day! But ended up buy a new one. They installed it free of charge. Everyone was respectful and nice. I had no idea all the things they sell at this place! They even had snow sleds! Much better than the big box stores !

Great service, but most definitely not the low cost provider. We use them for the small engine repair service. A little pricey but they do excellent work. Otherwise its a mom and pop hardware store.

The hardware store might be okay but the small gas engine shop is a joke! After 3 months I began calling. I was told something different every call. On the 6th call I got rude about it. An hour later they called and said it was ready. They said they put points and condenser in my engine. 3 months and $110 later I still have an engine that will not start. I should have believed all the other reviews because I had the same experience as the others!!!

Always one of my favorite places I stopped in there at least once or twice a month to gear up on high performance fuel for all of my echo equipment they have Great Deals they sell great stuff Shindaiwa products Echo Husqvarna commercial mowers bagging mowers you name it theyve got it all all Under One Roof fairly decent prices and they back what they sell and they service what they sell and they always got parts for anything instead of having to wait just a heads up yall dont ever buy anything from Home Depot or Lowes even if it says Echo Cub Cadet Husqvarna or whatever because youll end up have to take it back and get money back always go to a reputable dealer theyre out there and this is one of them

Terrible customer service. The small engine repair department was very rude. Brought in a blower I purchased from them to be looked at under warranty and said they adjusted the carb. Very interesting considering this carb has ZERO adjustment. The blower is still not working correctly and they will not cover their work. I will never purchase anything from them again.

I called and was talking to parts and they disconnected me. I try to call back and they wont answer. I was trying to buy a 430.00 clutch from them and wanted to know if it was in stock and if I could pay by credit card over the phone. I called 3 times an they wont even answer. The phone rang about 20 times. Then they pick up and hang up. Very unprofessional.

The two pretty young ladies at work the counter at Colonial are really great service. But when the mechanic the tall ugly guy with the long hair steps out with his bad attitude just ruins the whole concept of going to Colonial. The ladies trying to help you the best I can, they can do without the tall attitude that do not give a damn rather you like it or not. Took forever for them to just look at a pressure washer. Dropped it off at the end of May and called them almost mid July after hearing nothing from them. Had to wait on hold for 10 mins just so they could tell me that parts were on backorder. They didn’t even call me to tell me what was wrong or quote me the cost. Will not be doing business with them in the future.

I cant believe this place is still in business. I took my Troy Built rider to have it repaired. First it took several weeks for them to even reach the point of providing me with an estimate. This was after several attempts to reach the rude staff. Either they put you on hold, the phone is busy or whatever.When the mower was finally ready I picked it up and brought it home. Now you can most likely guess, it ran almost as bad as when I took it to be repaired. Now after paying nearly $600.00 and having to return the mower to Colonial. Ive been waiting another 5 days. I called one of the owners Ms. Shirley to follow up. She had me on hold for over 30 minutes until finally I hung up. When I called back one minute later i was told she had left for the day 10 minutes ago. Well so much for customer service with these people. Even the owner doesnt care about customer service.I just hope I get my mower back in one piece.I would not recommend this company to any one.

I needed 3 bolts for my tractor... I needed a 4 length. I first went to Hubbards Hardware. They had only 3 1/2 length, so I bought 3 for $1.29 each. I thought I would try Colonial Hardware in case the 3 1/2 would be too short. Colonial had 3 bolts at 3 3/4 length (1/4 longer, but closer to 4). I was going to buy them....until the clerk wrote on the sack; $3.79 per bolt. I asked if the price was correct, as I had just bought almost identical bolts for $1.29 each. He said the price was correct and I should go back and buy the bolts at the other store. I gave the bolts back and left.... so... if you dont mind paying 300% more for bolts, go to Colonial.... Actually, Tractor Supply sells bolts, screws, nuts, by the pound... not by the item. So, from now on, I will drive the extra distance to Tractor Supply and avoid Colonial Hardware at all costs (pun intended).

My lawnmower was taken to Colonial Hardware December 2012. Three months later and several calls, I finally get it back. Throughout this time, nobody at the company seem to communicate with each other or me. Being a business owner myself, i thought, hey, i would want someone to let me know about a service quality issue. I talked to the owner. He seemed to not care. I can respect him taking up for the staff, however, he could care less about what i had to say. His final words, sorry you feel that way. I will not go back. You will have to make up your own mind, I suspect if you go there, you will agree in the end.

If itd let me give ZERO stars and post, I would! We took our riding mower in about three weeks ago. The young man who took it in seemed as though he just didnt want to be there. We were charged $50 to have it diagnosed and told it would be 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to get it done. He also told my husband they would call us if the repairs were going to be over the $500 mark. Knowing it couldnt be near that amount to fix, my husband replied, No, I want you to call me if its going to be more than $100. Day before yesterday we got that call stating the motor was bad (which it was not and we already knew that) and needed to be replaced. They said they could do it and it would cost $1100 to do so. Upon notification of such, just so happened that my husband was speaking with a mechanic who immediately identified the issue as the timing key (which it was) Mind you, this was a $20 fix that could have easily turned in to an unnecessary repair at an outrageous price if wed followed their diagnosis and recommendation. I dont know how they get away with it!!! BUYERS BEWARE!!! Please dont be gullible. Get informed. Get a second opinion. Save your money. These people are not doing good business and they way suck at customer service.

My experience with Colonial Hardware has been good. Ive used them a few times to repair weed-eaters the service was good and the price was not to outrageous. My last experience I bought a new part that was less expensive than a quoted used part from another mower repair shop. I think Colonial Hardware is a great place to buy hardware and lawn equipment.

Very disappointed that Colonial Hardware has lost its credibility and honesty. They told me that my chain saw required a new carburetor and quoted $125. I took it to another mechanic and he said there was no evidence that it had been broken down and looked at. He fixed it with a $6 part!They have lost a long time customer because theyre now dishonest.

I was rebuilding a carb on an old generator. They were the only store within 100 miles that had the parts I needed, and were comparably priced to those same parts I found online. Their customer service was great. A younger guy was extremely polite and even brought the mechanic out to provide me with additional info to make sure we got it right.

There arent an abundance of small engine repair shops in Memphis. Hopefully this review will help someone searching like I was.I took my troy bilt mower and edger in for service. Mower had broken pull chain and broken belt on edger. Despite the negative reviews, I was greeted both when I dropped my equipment off and came back to pick it up with friendly staff. I was told upfront that it was a $20 deposit on each item that goes toward the repair. If the cost was less than $120 theyd go ahead and fix it, if more than that they would call. I was told they were 1 1/2-2 weeks behind but go a call to say everything was ready in 4 days.Without going into much detail that may not apply to your specific need, I will return to Colonial Hardware for future service needs as well as any lawn equipment needs. Seemed like a small, family-run business that had employees grateful to have your business. Until proven otherwise, Im pleased.- A level-headed, calm customer that wasnt going in to the store ignorant or looking for an argument.

Nice people but really slow at the counter. I wait 15 min every time I pick up a piece of serviced equipment. Really long waits on he phone too. Been coming here for years but going somewhere else next time.

I have been there twice looking for parts. On both occasions the people that helped me at the service desk were not helpful and finished by telling me to just get a new mower. I was able to buy the part online that was available from multiple stores. It may be a good store to buy a lawnmower but its service is bad and their part inventory is bad and I dont appreciate the way I was treated.

Dont know why the bad reviews. In this time of big box stores where the sales people know virtually nothing about their products, Colonial Hardware is a consistent and reliable source of information. I get all my small engine parts (mower, blower, rider, chain saw, etc...), from Colonial Hardware. Sure there are some kids behind the parts counter, but they actually KNOW SOMETHING. Plus they carry better configurations of the named equipment. Everywhere else sells junk. This is the real deal.

Did a good repair on my lawn mower.

Awful place. Took a brand new Toro lawnmower ($400) in because the pull was locked up and they told me I needed a new lawnmower and it wasnt covered because there was no oil. I took the oil out to transport it, not before it locked up. Took it to a small engine repair shop and they fixed it for $25. Would stay far away!

Order a deck belt over two weeks ago. store did not have belt-had to order. employee stated that it should be in in about a week. a belt arrived 7 days later, but I was not in a position to pick it up. pick up belt a week later and trusted the employee that it was the right belt. did not find out until I attempted to install belt. thought process was that they had simply given me wrong belt. turned around and drove 75 miles back to store to find out that they had ordered the wrong belt. all the employee said was that he was sorry and would order the belt again. wow! did not get it right the first time, but can the second. my lawn mower will be inoperative until I obtain the correct belt from another vendor. I have purchase belts at this store on 2 different occasions and I have been completely dissatisfied on both. today, I wrote them off to go to and get any parts for a snapper lawn mower. I will find another

If you cant find it go to Colonial. Friendly helpful people who can usually find what you need. Also engone service and saw sharpening.

I called yest about a funnell leaf bag holder and i couldnt of asked 4 better cust serv on the phone. Lauren answered the phone and she had jenny the office mgr email me a pic of the item and it was exactly what i was looking for. Later on i called 2 ask the owner, mr sheffield a quest and he was very nice and helpful on the phone . My friend suggested that i call colonial hardware but @ 1st i didnt want 2 as it is a little far 4 me but glad i did as i got great cust serv on the phone and in person. I went today 2 pick up the item and lauren was just as friendly and helpful in person as on the phone . I am so glad my friend suggested me going there. I used 2 go 2 them all the time when they were @ perkins / quince as it was a lot closer but i will say i will definitely go back and recommend them as they are awesome !!!! Keep up the great job !!! I took my lawnmower, which was used a total of 4 times, to Colonial Hardware as an authorized repair shop. They told me that my almost brand mew lawnmower could not be repaired, the engine was gone, and I needed to buy a new one. They then blamed the problem on user error, so that the warranty would not cover it. I took the mower elsewhere, where it was promptly repaired for the grand total of $25. Do NOT take your machines here to be repaired!

If you want to order parts in advance over the phone, dont waste your time. The customer service, at least from the parts department, is horrendous. Complete lack of professionalism. The guy I spoke to was rude and acted as if helping me was a waste of his time.

Colonial Hardware, Inc. 6140 Macon Road, Memphis, TN 38134. Dropped off broken lawn mower on 05/30/2012. Paid $21.85 for inspection fee and left place of business with the perception that I would be given a call with diagnosis and recommendation for service. Sales associate on receipt: Graylin. Received a call at 8am on 06/01/2012 that lawn mower was repaired and ready for pick- up. Upon arrival I was met with a balance of $86.73. Explained to associates that I never received a call to go ahead with service and that I never would have agreed to pay $108.58 to service a ten year old mower. They explained that it is their policy to automatically repair the mower if the parts and labor do not exceed $100. The charge before tax was $99.34, which I find suspect. There was no mention of this policy, no sign and no form, literature or documentation to support this supposed policy. Had they called me, I would not have agreed to the fee, accepted the loss of $20 for the inspection and picked up my broken mower. Every member of the staff I spoke with handled this situation very unprofessionally, all the way up to the owner of the store. One woman kept saying that I was just trying to get something for free. I asked for all their names and they refused and one man left shouting expletives at me from the other side of the counter. I paid the balance and left very dissatisfied. Buyer beware! COLONIAL HARDWARE on Macon Road employs nothing but conniving charlatans and philistines. They are scam artists and I beg you to never patronize that establishment. They swindled $108 from me for a simple lawn mower repair. My severe indignation was only met with utter condescension. Pass this along......they are the worst!
