Went to this car max on October 19 picked up curbside side delivery which took 2 hours and car was not clean or detailed and couldn’t see the whole and dents in the car during the pre inspected until after I signed all the paper work and was giving the keys . They had dead bugs and ants inside my car and I didn’t notice it until I got home. On the pictures of the car all 4 windows were tinted and when I picked up the car for curbside, they told me that the driver side window wasn’t retented because the car was broken into on their lot recently and nobody offered to repair the tent .
Everything was great. All the people we worked with were very nice and Nya was great throughout the process. We bought 2 cars with them over the past 3 weeks and the experience overall was wonderful.
Vehicle was just what I expected. The transaction was quick and easy. Great experience and I felt good about everything. Definitely shop at CarMax again.

The whole experience was so awesome there. The salesman was extremely helpful and went above and beyond. His name was Mike Jeffrey and Ill never forget it. They made an outstanding save to my buying experience I had with Kenner, LA CarMax but thats another story. Needless to say, my car is awesome and I drove it back to Louisiana and enjoyed every mile.
Great service! We loved the ease of purchasing our vehicle along with trading in our other one. Everyone was polite and never pressured us into making a decision. This was our first time purchasing from Carmax, but with the great experience we will probably continuing using them in the future.
I bought my first truck from Carmax in Texas 22 years ago. Where I drove that truck for 21 of those 22 years before selling it. The buying process was easy. That’s why I bought from them again. I will say, that 22 years later, the process was still great. And I love my new truck.
The sales process went smoothly, but the follow up has not been good. I have not received my tags though I bought the car on October 4. I have called several times, one person said she would send a replacement temp tag, but it never arrived.The second request (yesterday) for a temp tag just arrived by FedEx as I type, so that is good. My mailing address is different from my Memphis address, but the dealership said the title cannot be sent to my out of state maiiing address. I dont want the car registered in Virginia as I am a Tennessee resident. I have called multiple times to ask the city to mail the title to me in Virginia, but the city says the dealership has to submitany paperwork before they can talk to me about it, though it has been a month since the purchase. There were some repairs that needed to be done, but I have not been able to schedule a repair visit until November 25 versus purchase date of October 4. I liked the idea of non negotiated prices, plus the nice helpful salesman and paper work processor ( Chris Thompson, and Taylor Norman (?)) but dealing with the business office has been a nightmare. I feel they are enjoying the check I wrote for $31k on October 4th, but have the use of my funds, without completion of the trade. I own several cars and would hope to be a continuing customer of Carmax, but not off to a good start. Thanks for your help. J Carr
Bro. Long story short 3 cars in one week. Over priced. WAYYY over priced. Had to make 3 trips over an hour each way because the vehicle was trash, and had issues that wasnt listed. This comment from the company under this review tells u all about them. The number is to customer relations. Ive spoke with them all they could do for everything ive went thru with 2 families making THREE trips over an hour was just tell me sorry. And if i wanted to get a vehicle transferred they would pay up to 200$ to get it transferred. What type of help is that. Doesnt replenish my gas, food nor time. Company is definitely not the way car buying should be.
It couldn’t have gone better. We selected a car online and had it held until we could get in. We were out of town. We called for an appointment to test drive it. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and an associate got right with us. We drove it and purchased it that day! Everyone was very helpful.

Incredibly frustrating. Only upside was I got the specific make, model, and specifications I wanted at a fairly fair price. This was after weeks of delays, abysmal communication, damage in transit, and sub optimal repairs to the damage. Local employees were courteous but there was clearly a gap (more like vast chasm) about communication with my order. I dont know if other dealers are any better, but Im glad I will not have to buy another car for at least another decade. Things may improve by then.
Had been car shopping for a few days, unable to find good deals. CarMax had a great selection on the lot, very efficient, helpful and friendly service from Donna. We got a great deal on a low mileage car and found fewer add-on costs that we saw at the brand name dealerships. We love our new car!
First I’ll say everyone I spoke with there were extremely nice and I can honestly say I’m glad I met them. However, if you plan on selling a vehicle, I highly suggest you go elsewhere. I have no idea what it’s like to buy there, but they underestimated the value of my truck by at least $5000. I got that much more the same day an hour later at a different dealership.
I went to this CarMax for an appointment I scheduled to test drive a vehicle make sure we could fit in it and they wouldn’t let us test drive it. They ran our credit just to still not let us test drive it.
Got my online offer on Friday, went to my nearest CarMax on Saturday. They took my keys, and did an inspection on my vehicle. I was there maybe a total of 2 hours. They offered me more than I owed on the vehicle, so I left with a check for the difference. Easiest experience Ive ever had! Highly recommend if youre looking to sell!
I have a car from them and my temporary plates had expired. They gave me new temporary plates quickly and inform me that my permanent plates hadnt arrived. I appreciate their fast service
Charmaine Taylor was our salesperson and she was awesome! What few things required repair on the vehicle we purchased, CarMax had the repairs completed courtesy of their Service department. A used vehicle feels like a new purchase.

I sold my car to CarMax, their offer was fair, and the customer service was good. One employee who was not involved in our transaction saw my children and was so kind to bring them coloring books and found them a place to color, it was so nice. My only complaint was that it took over 2 hours, mostly waiting, to finalize the sale, which is a long time when you’re small children are with you.

Found my dream car online and had it shipped in. Got my trade in done online. Got my own financing done in advance. Everything was wonderful. A week went by. I was literally begging them to make the deal. The car was just sitting there. I finally got irate and got an appointment to make the deal, at 12:30 pm. We got there and signed in before our scheduled appointment time. We were allowed to go look at it. Then we sat, for two solid hours before anyone would talk to us. It was very hot and uncomfortable in that building. We didnt get out of there until 5:30 that evening, and that was with everything being done beforehand. Yes, I got my dream car, but man, it took too much effort and patience. Once they had us hooked, they just didnt care about good service.
Worst experience imaginable. I had an appointment at 11 am today. I was met at the door by Lesley. Getting to the point, I gave her my PHOTO drivers license and my cellphone to see my car insurance. She asked had I ever been there I said yes, she then looked in the computer to verify my address, email, and phone number and the last salesman. She then said she still had to call my cellphone to hear it ring if I were to test drive the car as if I would take off with the car. I said no, noone has ever treated me in that way BUT SHE CALLED MY CELLPHONE ANWAY TO HEAR IT RING. She was out of line and it was very disrespectful, I DIDNOT TEST DRIVE THE CAR. I took off work, paid a babysitter, drove across town, passed countless other reputable car lots just to get insulted by Lesley. Never again .

Customer service is awful. Purchase my car in April I had to get a renewed tag for my vehicle since the permanent tag haven’t came. Went in to see if they had my tag and it’s was still in process. They told me I had reach my limit of getting a renewal temp tag. I had to go through high water for them to give me another one because I did not want to be ticketed by a policeman. Its July and I can barely get them on the phone to see if my tag came in or not. You will hear from them when you get the car in the beginning but afterward they just leave you abandon. I wish I went elsewhere to purchase my vehicle. Don’t go to CarMax they suck!
Once I got on the website searching for a car they pretty much called me everyday and even sent texts to make sure I was comfortable and still purchasing a car. After receiving a car the registration was messed up and my car needed minor maintenance that wasn’t done. I couldn’t get in contact with them for about 2 and a half weeks. Once I got in contact with them they scheduled me for a maintenance appointment a month and a half later at 10:30am. After dropping the car off no one contacted me for over 7 hours. Once I contacted them I was told that they were still diagnosing the problem(USB port and other minor issues. They are great when purchasing a car, but after that purchase you literally become and afterthought.
Sales experience was great with MS. Donna but the closing department the ladies are so rude poor customer service! I’ve bought four cars from Carmax and the closing department is the worse. No customer service skills and rude to everyone even to their own co- workers
Was a great place. Some workers there need some classes to help them up their game and proper educate them on customer service. But other than that great place to purchase vehicles. My family comes here and I will return as well
Im only giving 4 stars because the car i bought had a few issues that I had to get corrected. But they get the 4 stars because Charlotte Sanders, the service manager, is a true gem 💎. She made sure that all the issues I had were taken care of. And she did it with the friendliest disposition. Excellent customer service, which made my experience with carmax worth doing business with them.

Was the fairest place I have ever been when selling a used vehicle. Obviously people want the best offer they can get on both sides, but instead of doing the whole banter dance on trying to make a deal they offered the best amount they could from the start. I really appreciated that, and wouldnt want to deal with anyone else when buying or selling a vehicle.
Everything went super smoothly thanks to the nice woman in the business office. She told me she had just gotten hired. I do hope the positive feedback makes it back to her because, I never caught her name unfortunately.
I would give it a Zero however, it needs at least one star I order to complete the review. Initially I contacted CarMax and I had a pleasant experience with Baylee. We decided on a vehicle I paid to have it shipped to Memphis *BIG MISTAKE and I would just wait until they rector vehicle. After the Memphis location received the vehicle, I made an appointment. RED FLAGS BEGIN * when my husband and I initially walked them people just looked up and continued doing what they were doing we stood there and said wow maybe we should take our business elsewhere. Finally someone walked over and I let him know that I had a vehicle shipped. I told him that I already had started the process he then told me that he likes to do everything by scratch so never mind who I spoke to before. He got copies of my info and proceeded to let us test drive the vehicle. We told him that we wanted the vehicle and would like to come back. We came back Friday and provide all copies of requested info. When I provided copies they kept inspecting my paystub as if I didn’t make the money I do. Then they asked me to go get the actual copy, I did just that. I waited another hour for him to come back and say they’ll call me Monday. I have never heard of been through a process like this before in my life! At this point I call the financial institution and they tell me they have never received any of my information. I call my salesman and he’s acts incompetent as if he doesn’t know what’s going on. The salesman is Corrterius Weaver by the way. I told him and he said he’ll have someone call me. Red FLAG he then tells me that people who have low credit scores get treaded different and CarMax screens them different. So I said wait that’s discrimination all applicants are to be treated fairly. So he proceeds to tell me I’ll get a call Monday. On Monday (today) I texted him no response so I called corporate and had a conversation with the analysts. He told me that my process seemed wired and he would get to the bottom of it. I then received a call from Chris who was so rude and disrespectful it was unreal he couldn’t answer any of my questions and said CarMax decided not to do the deal. Keep in mind I’m not financing through CarMax and I’ve paid for a vehicle to get shipped and I’ve already been approved by the bank and the bank has not received any of my information. Long story short, take your business elsewhere!! They’re rude, unprofessional, and they discriminate!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS!!

My experience was absolutely terrible and it was the most stressful, credit impacting, unorganized experience I’ve had ever and I was a front line worker in the medical field during the pandemic. I had three.l cars pre approved and still had the cars sold after running credit and more. Than on the day of me getting my car they entered in my information wrong and ran my credit again. This was terrible and I was compensated nothing. Even after getting car I had to take car to get service twice and for them to tell me my next appointment can not be until the end of august. CarMax you have truly outdone yourself with this one.
My experience was good. I just wish I would have checked the heated seats there. Because they do not work and the FUSES are GOOD! But other than that, I love the vehicle.

Then within an hour the car was examined and I was receiving my trade in check. The process was very smooth. I would highly recommend using Carmax.

Whats the point of offering holds if you dont keep to them? My 2nd terrible experience with Carmax now. Im going to try somewhere else.

Terrible customer service. Waited over 6 hours just to sign the documents for the car because no one was available to go over my purchase. Appointment system doesnt even matter. Why should I have to wait 90 mins to see someone at 2:00 when I have an appointment at 12:30!?! Completely outrageous.

Long story short I purchased a car in 2019 at the Germantown locations have been having a lot of problems out of it I was supposed to be seeing what this location had to offer since I recommended my boyfriend this location to get a car from and the lady who was in charge of helping me with the trading process was ok in the beginning before the appraisal after the appraisal she made a smart comment that made me extremely mad I just left I didn’t confront her nor talk to her manager because I have already lost faith in the Germantown location and this location on reconciling anything I hope no one has to go through what I went through here or the other location. I wouldn’t recommend carmax to anyone especially not this location or the Germantown location. Don’t come to this location this person made my car buying experience just bad I’m not recommending this place to anyone.
Im super happy with my car and everyone at this lot was very helpful, but once I purchased it, I never heard back from my sales agent when I emailed him directly. We selected the MaxCare for 125,000 mi instead of 100,000 mi and then I didnt notice when signing the papers, which I totally admit. There is no way that Ill drive 17,500 mi each year, so its not worth the extra money. I was told that I could have edited it about 5 days after, but I emailed my guy 6 days after - within the 7 day trial period, so I thought thatd be OK - and didnt get a reply. I emailed him again the next week and I still havent heard from him 6 weeks later. So ... that was a few hundred dollars lost.Just be careful when youre selecting the MaxCare option - be sure they click on the thing you ask them to and then be more aware than I was at the end, even if youre tired of looking at numbers!I also have an issue with my drivers window, which will be fixed for free, which is great. I just have to wait 6 weeks to do so! Thats the soonest they could get me in! Whats up with that? I was planning to do all of my maintenance work there, but do I want to wait that long each time? So, theres that.
Although it took some time to jump through the hoops presented by the lender, overall, the experience was very positive. MeShawn was very helpful over the phone, and Roy was very helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. Id highly reccomend CarMax to anyone looking for an upgrade to their current vehicle situation. They work hard to get you mobile!
I give this rating a one because of the Sales Rep. However, we have been waiting to complete the purchase of a vehicle now for approximately 25 days. We are at our wits end with apologies and excuses about the maintenance department. It all started when we ordered this car out of the Nashville area. When it finally arrived almost a week later, we went and test drove the car. Our daughter, who loves capturing moments took a lot of pictures of the car from every angle. We noticed some small things that needed to be addressed. We were told we would be called when those had been done. We were called but it appears the wrong part was put onto the car and the right part had to be ordered. One item was done. The other item was not completed, or was forgotten. We were called to say the car was ready this past Saturday. Imagine our horror to arrive and see a noticeable dent on the front passenger side of the car where paint is missing. We were asked if perhaps it was already dented before. Remember those pictures I told you our daughter likes to take? I requested them and showed the Sales Rep that there was no dent on the vehicle. And, it appears the other item still never got addressed. You might ask, why not find another car? Because CarMax had already sent the paperwork over to our bank on April 1st and the check was made out for that car. And, our insurance Company had already placed that vehicle on our insurance.Yesterday, they sent a picture and when I say what they attempted to do is nothing short of a slap in the face where it appears that someone took some paint and dabbed it in the spot where the dent is. What an insult???!!! My husband went up to CarMax to see what it looked like in person and to try to discuss this. He stated he was met with apathy and someone who could have cared less about this ordeal.This was our first experience with Car Max. Here we are on approximately day 25 and no car because they were hoping we took delivery of a car that they had damaged. I have reached out to the Better Business Bureau and our Bank. I have proof from the original online ad for this car with a 360 view that this car had no dent on it as official proof.I do not think we are being unreasonable in asking them to repair what they damaged, and to fix the item that had initially been addressed. A car note will be coming due soon and we have not even had the car in our possession. How do we even address that???!!!!Car Max you have got to do better. Whether we spend $30 or $30,000, you should desire to give your customers service the way you would expect to be treated. This is appalling!!! Your rating as a company with me stands at “0”. Do the right thing by us.

Purchased a great truck, unfortunately, the first day the check engine light came on. Brought it back. They would have refunded my money, but elected to have it repaired. The 7 day return policy is great. We got a great truck for a fair price. Mike my salesman was great to work with, will likely buy from CarMax again.
So my sales rep was very nice but come to find out the car arrives at this location from Iowa I pay the transfer fees.Well guess what happens I come up three days later for my scheduled test drive and planned to buy to FIND OUT THEY SOLD THE CAR!!!!! Wasted three hours of my day just to find out I car I transferred here was SOLD!!!!
Very disappointed with them haven’t been in my car 30days but I purchase it may 1 and been in the shop for same reason more then twice. This my second car I purchased from them and my first experience was great but this time not so good .
Love this dealership & if you really understand business & the value of vehicles! (Its the best options to not only boost your credit but to also get a extended warranty that most used car lots will never offer!) The only drawback is paying for cars to be shipped from around the 🇺🇸 but on the flip side,you have multiple options to choose from across the 🇺🇸 if youre willing to pay the fee like I did 😆. My car is 4 years old in my care and Im only at 80k on the dash as a daily driver & I got my Maxima under 20k because I coughed up the 500 shipping fee nobody else was willing 2 pay! 2014 version SV which ended up being Nissan most reliable year for the Maxima lineup as to date! I will be getting another car after I enjoy being car note free for a year or two!!!!🤣😅😂😜😁💪🙏💯
The cars were great, awesome prices.The staff was less satisfying, no communication,only out to do what benefits them, worring about their commission more than giving the customer what I wanted. Very annoyed by the staff but I will the the actual establishment 5 stars because of the quality vehicles and low prices.
They were quick to sell us a car a 2012 altima. Good car. 3 months later they still have not got the taks. Say theres problems with the title. The lady on the phone was typical memphis rude. Hung up on us. Left us on hold forever. Yet Im still riding this car with no tags. I hope car max reads this and comments.
They tryed to sell me the wrong car . A 2008 for a 2014 Impala . And way just say I wont be going back to them after driving 4 hours up and then 4 hours back and they tryed to play games . So they just lost me as a customer

This the first review that i have ever done. Im greeted at the front door, and i ask a few questions well told them i was trading in a car i completely own, and that i have a down payment and he told me “ well this lasted half a second” and that he would only offer 300 not to mention car is in perfect condition, and is valued at 8200 at trade in value and basically told me i was wasting his time, well now since he said that, i will never purchase a car from carmax and i will never send anyone there to purchase a car. Need to check the people that are greeting people. Terrible

I purchased a car in March of 2020 from this location. At the time of purchasing, everyone was so nice but I noticed that they didnt fully inspect the car. I had lipstick in the backseat and a hole in the floor of the driver side. I mentioned this to the salesman at the time and he noted it and gave it to the manager Tasha at the service center. They assured me that they would take care of it at no cost to me (I have paperwork showing this) because I pointed it out before I purchased the car. Ive called and called and I got the same answer, we cant get the car in due to Covid. At one point they just stop taking my calls and the voicemail was full. Its been a year now and I still have a hole in the floor of my car. This is my 3rd car from CarMax but sadly it is my last. Terrible communication and customer service.
Never warded more time anywhere in my life. The salesman I had the first time was awesome. However I had to return the 2018 vehicle within two because it started to show potential damage with the struts. I was offered 11 percent interest in that vehicle. Then they started hitting me with 28 percent interest when I tried to buy another vehicle. I left and bought a cash car got the title in my hand and dont owe any money. Ill never go through such an experience again.

Over priced,no haggle price just means they stick to the arm and leg price tag, no help unless you buy New car. Basically just like any other used car dealer plus you have to walk through office and leave phone number (wich no one ever called) to look at inventory on lot, bad for rainy day or cold weather cant drive on lot and look. Made It my last stop of the day. No one was ugly or rude to me, just feels cringy.

Overall, I thought the experience was good. Things moved along is a deliberate, efficient fashion. I was purchasing a vehicle as well as trading one in so my sales representative balanced time well to ensure that the trade-in appraisal was occurring at the same time he was working on arranging the test drive. By the time my involvement with the appraisal was complete, he was handing me the keys of the vehicle I was interested in purchasing for a test drive. Of course, this is a car buying experience, so there is time involved in awaiting document production, signing, manager approvals, etc., but in general this was a well oiled machine.A couple points of improved, areas to be aware -1) Online Registry to Ship Vehicle from another CarMax Location. The vehicle I eventually purchased was shipped from a CarMax location from out of state. I initially used the website to request the vehicle be sent from out of state to the local Memphis/Bartlett location. After a week of not hearing anything, I called the Memphis/Bartlett location about the vehicle and the representative I spoke to told me that there was no record of the requested shipment. Fortunately, the vehicle was still available and we were able to get the vehicle shipped in about a week, but Id recommend anyone seeking to bring a vehicle from out of state should make that request over the phone instead of the website.2) Buyers requirements. It would be helpful at the time of the appointment for CarMax to provide potential buyers a checklist of required documents in the event a potential buyer sought to become an actual buyer. This wasnt done and Im surprised it wasnt. From a marketing standpoint, Id think getting someone prepared to buy from a narrative perspective makes them more likely to do so in actuality. Fortunately, I had every conceivable document available to me and had already been approved for third-party financing, so I was reasonably prepared; however, even still I did not immediately have the Shelby County Tennessee required two forms of ID.3) Attention to detail. The one true negative I regrettably have to communicate is that the temporary license plate provided to me wasnt property secured. Consequently, this past weekend, I realized that I was driving around without a license plate. Fortunately I noticed this instead of a Shelby County Sheriff or a Memphis Police Officer. Upon further inspection I found that the bolts that secured the license plate were not fastened properly due to the fact that bumper had no license plate bolt anchors in the holes the screws go through. This should have been a very obvious at the time CarMax representatives were securing the temporary license plate and a very inexpensive fix for what could have been a significant issue.As I said, I thought the experience was a good one and despite 1) and 3) above, I would be open to purchasing another vehicle in the future from CarMax.
Always nice to get a good idea at what vehicles are like without a dealer riding in your coat pocket. They leave you alone until youre ready to deal w them.
I have purchased 4 vehicles from the Carmax Super store on Highway 64 in Memphis. Every one of them have low mileage and was in excellent condition. The prices on all of them have been below apprised values that I would d o myself and way below what a dealer would ask for the same vehicle with the same milage. Unless Carmax just goes really crazy on the pricing i plan to continue to purchase from them. The service is great, the folks answer and question you may have and they have great, non pressuring sales employees to help you. So i would recommend going business with them. Or just go look for that model you want to purchase. They normally have everything from A to Z and most every popular colors. You cant go wrong.
